• @newtonenterprises Missing JimD as well. Whenever I drive down to my DD's house in Virginia, I pass by Jim's hometown and think of him.

  • Good Morning all. Back from a very enjoyable fun weekend with a group of friends. Lots of laughing, lots of good music and lots of dancing. I now have very sore feet from all the dancing and a sore tummy from all the laughing.

Such sad news about Jim @newtonenterprises My condolences to his family.

  • @newtonenterprises : So very sorry to hear of Jim's passing and my thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. I will miss him here on the board. Always enjoyed his somewhat sarcastic wit and we had some rather jovial back & forth banter here on this board and on the old ebay glass board for many years. He will be greatly missed here.

  • @newtonenterprises Lynn, oh no!! I can't believe that Jim is gone. My condolences to you and your mom and brother. I haven't seen Jim in a few years, but remember him fondly. (I was the Goldies "representative" who visited him in the hospital after his stroke and met you and your brother). I am so sad hearing this.

  • @newtonenterprises JimD -- it does amaze me that Virginia and Maryland haven't finally realized that they are not in the deep south and do get snow. I've seen lots of big snow plows in Virginia -- don't understand what the problem is. My DD has been staying with a friend in order to be closer to their office (ambulance transport company). As she said, it's times like these that she wishes she had chosen a non-essential profession. As far as I know, the schools are all still closed down there. Up here in northern NJ, where we got between 2 and 3 feet of snow, some schools were closed on Monday and there were some issues getting around but life is totally back to normal.

@dorbitz JimL -- yikes!! That is high. We have TimeWarner for the TV but high speed DSL from Verizon (NOT Fios -- I don't want to lose my phone that works even when there's no power).

  • @newtonenterprises JimD -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Thought of you today as I was driving down 95 to DD's in Virginia. I'm here for the weekend.

  • Good Morning everyone. It's foggy and very chilly here this morning. I do hope the rain stays away. My yard is still very wet and I am having a party this coming Saturday night. I have about 40- 50 ppl coming so I'd like the yard to be dry not soggy and boggy.Today is going to be a very busy day in the yard. Firstly Have to get the chainsaw out and finish off the jacaranda tree that was blown down in the April storm and then lots of other things needed doing to prepare for my party.I am cut 2 days short this week as I have the grandkids Tuesday and Wednesday for 11 hrs each day. Its hard to get anything done when I have them.Especially if it involves chainsaws , lawn mowers and whipper snippers.
Carl @carma the only way to eat any seafood is FRESH. Growing up that's all we ate. Mum and Dad were very keen fishermen so we were always at the beach and was fed freshly, just out of the ocean and onto our plate. At the lake where my grandfather lived they caught fresh crabs and prawns. Again it was fresh out of the water and onto our plate. It actually took me a lot of years as an adult to even enjoy "fresh" bought from a shop. Nothing tastes better then fresh straight from the water.
Reen @reen always fun unwrapping stuff and reliving the memories
JimL @dorbitz thanks for doing the coffee 🙂
Marson @panishklo your garden sounds lovely. Do you want to come down here and help me with mine LOL I am not much of a gardener.
    JimD @newtonenterprises Happy Anniversary

    Julie

  • Good afternoon everyone. it is a glorious day outside. I have been out all morning wit DD and grandkids. DD has had to take time off work because of my injury. She picked me up, we went for morning tea.Left car at shopping centre and walked to gymberoo for the 2 x1hour class for each dgk. SUCH a lovely day to be outdoors.BUT now it is time to rest my arm

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIM D @newtonenterprises

  • @newtonenterprises JimD, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Sounds like you have a nice day planned (our favorite restaurant in Havre de Grace is Price's).

  • Good afternoon everyone Been out all morning, left here very early for some garage sales commencing at 6a.m. Then breakfast at a new restaurant in town, with my sister and more shopping at a couple of shopping centres. Followed by some Op shopping
No glass treasures to be found.
Weather isn't looking all that good, showers on and off all day
Gail @songbreeze I'll get onto taking a pic some time next week

Don @donscns JimD @newtonenterprises Alicia @4931nextdoor Shelly @shellyrae37 Here is one of our heritage train rides I have never been on it but I'd like to one day. Its about a 4 hour drive from me so it would mean I'd have to stay over night somewhere.
    http://www.zigzagrailway.com.au/

  • Good Morning everyone
Carl @carma pleased to read your weather is improving.
Sharon @sfinds most things these days are disposable. When it breaks you throw it away and buy a new one. In most cases it is easier and cheaper that way than to get it repaired.
LOL and as I scroll up I see Jim @dorbitz & JimD @newtonenterprises have said the same.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Glad to hear all went well. Take things easy and enjoy your nap

  • Good morning, glassies. We had such snow and ice last week that we couldn't even go to Church. Today nearly 60, tomorrow 70s, and Tuesday suppose to reach 79. Hard to wake up early this morning, but it will be fun to have the extra hour of daylight this evening.

@newtonenterprises JIMD ... it's a liquid given with a syringe. I just wrap Frannie with a towel, but what's so messy is she's just like Vesuvius. You squirt a bit in the back of her throat and, just like trying to feed a baby for the first time, it begins spewing and bubbling from her mouth. She only has to have it once a day. She's been perkier the past couple of days, but still not eating, not drinking, and wet the bed again yesterday. I'm seeing the vet Monday and if she still isn't doing any better I'm going to have them keep her overnight until we can get some of this under control.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... your swap meets always sound fun. You really should take at least one or two pictures to show us your set-up so we can enjoy it vicariously.

@wjweese WENDY ... a cowboy boot! What a hoot! Very creative thinking. 🙂

@reen REEN ... love the Irish Blessings.

HI to IRENE M, SHELLY, DON, CARL, GEORGE, and KATIE!

  • Good morning (just) everyone It's going to be a hot one for us down here 🙁
Carl @carma I think the vase is DDG!!
Betty @sjell I hope you are feeling much better today (((((hugs)))
    JimD @newtonenterprises I have managed to survive 58 years without a roof rake. I'm sure I can go another 58 years 😆 😆 😆
Wendy @wjweese I hope you too are feeling better today
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... I was cracking up at "never buy anything with a handle attached." Too true!

Getting ready to sit down with my package of dates and a pair of scissors and cut them down for size for my cookies. I had to go back to the grocery store after I went to buy the allspice. I was pulling all the ingredients out and noticed that I had opened the baking soda in November 2009, and the baking powder in 2010, and had no idea on the vanilla. Tells you how often I bake. Yikes! So now3 to go cut dates.

HI to KATIE, IRENE M, and WENDY!

  • Good morning, glassies. Too cold for words. My sister's DBF came over and they helped get my hot water pipes unfrozen. The weather is so bitter that it broke my resolve and I've let the outdoor cat come into the house. Had to spend some time adjusting the dog and 2 cats to her presence.

Trying to find out the pattern to this shaker. When I bought it I thought it was Hocking in the 4 piece set that has Dove and Quail etc. as seen in HMW2. It's shaped like Quail but totally different pattern that I can't match to any pattern I know.
    http://i41.tinypic.com/5akwzl.jpg
    http://i40.tinypic.com/mhgaic.jpg

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... Good Gravy! Congratulations on the New Martinsville! Would have walked right past it without a clue!

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... I didn't recognize the new avatar and for a minute thought it was our poker player JIM. Once I caught on it was you I was reminded of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. 🙂

@fyrqueen KATIE ... ai-yi-yi can't imagine those leg presses. Surely hope the PT is strengthening you and making for better mobility.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... yum yum yum Red Lobster CHeese Biscuits sound super. Herbal garlic butter is just garlic butter with some extra herbs thrown in...maybe a bit of parsley or the like.

@fran2 FRAN 2... Since the Catalonian sticker says "Reproduction....Old Spanish." people don't realize that it is NOT a reproduction piece in the sense we think of reproductions today and often give it a cheap price tag. I got lucky and got a lovely vase for $10 that I sold for over $100.

@reen REEN ... I'd just use both Pitcher / Ewer to cover my bases. 🙂

HI to CARL, DON, and GEORGE!

  • Interesting info @newtonenterprises Jim...thanks! Do you think that if it does NOT have the IG mark, then it might be an original? I guess some info. that I have learned here over the years sunk in, because when I saw the photo of the lion dish, my brain spit out Atterbury...I was just as shocked as I'm sure you all will be!...lol. Here is a photo of the lion from the auction company...

    http://i40.tinypic.com/j759c8.jpg

  • @newtonenterprises .I see the phone thought it could spell better than me and changed the ID.

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... Can you email me your phone number. I don't have your number and don't know what working email you have.

  • Listing, listing, listing. Taking photos, editing, and listing. I hope I sell some things, but if I don't I'll just raise the price and transfer them over to Ruby Lane later. So it was a good day of work whether it sells this week or not.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... So glad we can meet and hopefully Nancy P will meet up with us. Hopefully since I'll be there for so long, the timing will work out. My son only has Sundays off work. So that's is only 2 days for all the time I'm there. He's going to try to get a bit more time off but it is iffy since this is a new job he just start a month or so ago.

@wjweese WENDY ... oh my, you live up there is the cold damp Northwest with RA? How very difficult. Dusting? haha, I have some stationery that says at the top "Housework Makes You Ugly." 🙂

Going to go thaw out some frozen soup to fix for supper. I love this soup so much that I made a double batch last time and eat a bowl of it nearly every day. It's the pork, kale, white bean soup.

  • Good morning/afternoon, glassies. Been trying to list a bit more today.

@wjweese WENDY and @shellyrae37 SHELLY … This morning’s coffee was actually a self-portrait! 😆 Glad you enjoyed it.

@donscns DON …. Sorry to hear about your DMIL. Do hope she’s on the mend. You sure have been staying busy with hauling hay. I’m going to be asking if you can post coffee but you surely will let me know if interferes with other commitments.

@jerseystar NANCY P and @newtonenterprises JIM L … I’m still making plans, but I hope to be in Clarksburg, MD from October 30 til November 11. Hope maybe we can meet up for coffee or lunch or maybe even treasure hunting. Unfortunately, I'll be flying so I won't have my car to get around.

Really looking forward to this trip but it’s knocking a hole in my playing catch-up with trying to list and sell during the best time of year. That’s why I’m trying to put some items on eBay for 7 days now and that will give me time to mail anything if it sells. I’ll maybe try to write up some descriptions while I’m gone so I can launch them as soon as I return.

@carma CARL … love learning about the glass, but love the stories of how you obtained it equally as much!

HI to GAIL MAC, REEN and IRENE M.

  • Good morning, glassies. Bright sunshine day...suppose to reach 90°.

@nona NANCYJEAN ... I received the sugar yesterday and it is just gorgeous! Love it!

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... I put the card in the computer slot yesterday and was able to get my photo transferred. But that is the first time I have ever used the card. I MISS my USB cord. It was so easy as I just hooked it to my camera and the photo program started automatically.

Good Morning, DON, SHELLY, and CARL!

  • Good afternoon everyone. Just getting in @ 1p.m after leaving here 4a.m It is Sunny here but very very windy . So much for the bit of rain we had 🙁
Katie @fyrqueen I am glad to hear that you are fine
Suzy @suzy I hope you are feeling better soon. Its hay fever season down here and I have copped it bad this year.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIM D @newtonenterprises

  • @newtonenterprises ... I have Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome. I mainly use Chrome, but sometimes things get weird and I switch to Firefox. Hardly ever use IE anymore.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim I often use "When Alexander the Great reached my age he had conquered the know world and been in his grave for 46 years" Schools don't teach ancient history any more so Iget the "No really your age" look.

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... When they had the Mega Glass Convention in Overland Park, Kansas, I had the pleasure of meeting them. Jeff also spoke at the meeting. They were such pleasant and unassuming people. The auction photos are always super, and I love looking at the IDs.

  • I've just spent the past 2 1/2 hours looking at all the shaker lots in the Jeffrey Evans auction. Actually bid on a couple too. I love his auctions and just spend hours looking at all the offerings.

@glassusa BOB ... well knock my socks off! I'd never have dreamed you could get that kind of money for them. As JULIE would say, "Goodonya, mate!"

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... the little girl did a really nice job on the car...and yes, she had a ball playing in the water too. 🙂 I told her to come back in a couple of weeks. Sure like the idea of encouraging kids to work.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... LTNS. Hope all has been going well for you and your DW. Doing any treasure hunting lately?

  • @newtonenterprises Nice shots We Used to see them often in Wis and now occasionally at a local state park. Please Check you mail.
    george

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE ... LOL. I thought I'd sneak out and pick up some groceries. Of course, my sister called my cell phone just as I was at the check out counter. Busted. I'm home and behaving myself now. 🙂

@donscns DON ... I know you must be having a lovely time and what a wonderful chance to see the Chihuly exhibit.

@jerseystar NANCY P ... you always take such wonderful pictures of your adventures and travels.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... speaking of pictures, what a splendid shot of the woodpeckers! Just a terrific picture!

    HI to BILL!

  • @newtonenterprises Jim Are you or do you know someone who may be able to help me with distinguishing between Della Robia pastel or faded full strength colors on some dinner plates? Thanks. george

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... if there were a way we could trace the path taken and final destination of those long lost messages perhaps we could find all the lost socks.... I wonder if I could find a tinfoil hat on eBay? ...it pays to be prepared.

  • @collectibles4utwo CHRIS .... Imperial Glass, Candlewick pattern, http://www.replacements.com/webquote/IMCCAN.htm

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... Indeed, I do remember. The tire people fixed it and said it would run forever without a sensor; however, the dashboard light would stay on and the ding-ding-ding alert would sound each time I got into the car and started the motor. Decided I didn't want to have to deal with that indefinitely, so I bit the dust and ordered the part. 🙂

  • @dianes DIANE ... ask as many ID's a day as you want. That's the whole purpose of the Glass Board. We chat in between just waiting for a chance to study a new posting and hopefully being able to help with an ID.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... good luck with this swap meet. Sounds like a good deal with minimal expensive and only an hour's drive.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... exactly what I'm afraid the Elliptical will become! I don't have a good track record for actually using exercise equipment. Hopefully this time I really will use it, but it has to be in my front room where I can watch tv at the same time or I can guarantee that I will NEVER use it.

@10bbg10 HELEN ... I must talk a good story, because, believe me, I accomplish very little most of the time. 😀 I've made a bit more headway with putting the Elliptical together, but I'm really taking my time so I don't screw it up by trying to rush through the instructions.

My friends should be here before long and off we go for catfish. About an 3/4 of an hour drive to get to the place.

  • Good morning, glassies. Well, I plan to spend today working on listings. I only got one item listed yesterday...but it sold 2 hours later! Love when that happens! I have to take my friend to Tulsa for her doctor's visit tomorrow, so I hope to get some stuff done today.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... thanks for the offer to look up some of the jadite. I will take pictures later. The problem I have is that the few reference I have don't give measurements or weight of the item or thickness measurements.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... Blue Moon is a tree dweller for sure. The top level is her new best sleeping place.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... so glad you had a good sale with the yarn. I always get so encouraged with a sale and manage a spate of listings. When sales are down I find it hard to make myself list.

@carma CARL ... I really don't mind if there were no deliveries on Saturday. I can't even imagine the last time I actually "wrote" a letter. None of the mail I receive anymore ever requires any expediency on my part. Truly have watched communications morph over the years from snail mail to email, cell phones, skype, etc.

    HI to DON and GEORGE!

  • Good afternoon everyone.
Hi Kasi @kasi Nice to see you pop in here for visit. I too have been following your stem cell progress on FB
Gail @songbreeze Thanks for the update on NancyP
BTW Good Luck with Ruby Lane. I hope you do well
    Reen @reen (((Hugs))))
JimD @newtonenterprises Glad you came through Sandy OK
Marty @sellingthings Good Luck with your RL store
Reen @reen the above hug was when I read your earlier post that you were going to sit with your friend. And as I finally reached the top of my scroll and refreshed I saw your last post. My heartfelt condolences to you & Diane's family. More ((((((hugs)))))
    Julie

  • @reen REEN ... Sending all my prayers and hugs for you, your friend, and her family. Sounds as though her time is close. Has me singing the funeral song "Shepherd me, oh Lord, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into Life..." Always been a beautiful reassuring hymn to me. I will sing it for your friend.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... glad to hear you all are ok and all systems are up and running. Love @ohiostar FENTON's picture. All things are relative. 🙂

I'm worn out. Got all my Ruby Lane shop finally done after working the entire afternoon. I've now submitted it for review. It can take up to 5 working days to hear back from the review board. Crossing my fingers I did it all correctly. I must say I had a wonderful experience using their Help Desk...people who actually understood your problem, actually new how to fix it, and gave great instructions. Incredible! Apparently something called Amazon Cloud or Cloud Amazon had cause a problem last week on the site and might have caused my problems. All's well that ends well. 🙂

I am worn out from listing though and just now popped a frozen dinner in the microwave. Think I'll find the recliner, a good movie, and rest and eat what will be my breakfast/lunch/supper.

  • Been out running errands and just now getting a bit of lunch heating in the microwave.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY... I have 3 children: DD is the oldest and lives in Manhattan; DS#1 lives in California; and the baby 🙂 DS#2 lives outside DC in Clarksburg, MD. Finally got in touch with DD and they are staying in Manhattan. She lives in mid-town and says it's the southern part of Manhattan that is evacuating as it is at sea-level. She feels safe where she is.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... so glad to hear you are all prepared for whatever Sandy brings. Hope it doesn't getting worse for you all.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... wish you'd come down here and help me sell glass. Dismal sales the past couple of months.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim, Thanks for that article. Very helpful.I shall use bits of the information in my listing for the vase. I'm thinking of putting the listing up in my ebay store for $599.99 and open for offers.
I cannot give enough thanks for how helpful this group has been.
    Helen in Indy

  • Good afternoon, glassies. Have been nearly 2 1/2 hrs on the phone, being transferred here, yonder, and there, being placed on hold, etc. All’s well that ends well though.

@ver2us1 JANICE & @fran2 FRAN … I was not familiar with a ”waffle set”. Very glad to learn about it and see a complete set.

@baabaamason BOB in KY … Lovely Venus Rising, isn’t it?

@jerseystar NANCY P and @newtonenterprises JIM D … so good to see you put avatars up so I feel like I’m talking to a real person! That’s one thing I’ve enjoyed on this Chat board.

@carma CARL … What kind of train and what size will you be putting on your set-up? Do you have it yet or will you be adding/building to it with trees and stuff little by little?

@reen REEN … please pass on all my hugs and good wishes to SHELLY!

HI to JULIE, SUE, AMBER, DON, HELEN, GEORGE, IRENE M, MARTY!

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... thanks, I just emailed it and hope it will work.

My computer is running sloooooooow. I shut it all down and hope now it will pick up some speed.

@suzy SUZY ... you are a dear person and very kind, but that pic does NOT look like a 66-year old woman. You are just use to seeing me, 🙂 but if you had never met me before you wouldn't recognize me from that pic. I'm going to a glass convention next month and I want people to recognize me!

  • @newtonenterprises HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @newtonenterprises Jim, I still remember and miss Nomra (the queen of the typos).

Weather seems to be calming down here -- we were under a tornado watch for much of the day with two brief tornado warnings. The tornado watch and the severe t'storm warnings have all been cancelled -- hopefully the reservoirs picked up some water.

  • Good morning, glassies.ra4qewwwsZGBBBBBBBBBBBBBBVvvvvvvvvvvv Well, the last part of that greeting was written by Blue Moon.......

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... had not heard of using super glue. Haven't had a paper cut in years...and hope not to have any in the future. Use to get them on the side of my lip from licking envelopes. ouchie!

@amber1986 AMBER ... thanks for asking about my son. Actually, I'm expecting to hear from him soon with an update.

HI to JULIE, DON, HELEN, GEORGE, SHELLY, & MARTY

  • @donscns Add my condolences to those of the others have expressed theirs.

@newtonenterprises Jim, Thanks. I sent an inquiry to Auctiva today. Have not heard back from them which is unusual. Maybe tomorrow.

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday Afternoon.

@fryqueen - I never thought of it either until the Dr mentioned it. Along with drinking lots of water. Don't know about you but today is also a killer for allergies.

@baabaamason - sorry about your computer troubles. Also you might check with USB Drives being so cheap, you could use that to back up critical files.

@donscns - That is such a shame, these items can not be replaced. Just breaks my hear to see beautiful items ruined because of carelessness. Sorry to hear of your loss, will say a prayer for you all.

@songbreeze - Bummer about the power, but maybe the system was shocked with the rain. Hopefully you got a good soaking rain. Sorry can't help you with your perfume, but it sure is pretty.

@carma - You are so right about checking the sellers listings. Even though some season sellers lack in their descriptions. I don't care what anyone says, if an item is 100 year old and has a chip, I expect to be told so in the description, instead of getting the item and finding out that it does have a chip and they say what do you expect from a 100 year old item. And if you get bored and want another place to clean out, LMK I would be willing to sacrifice my house for the task(G).

@newtonenterprises - That's a great price, will have to check out Walmart this week.

Well off to make an early dinner 🙂

  • @jerseystar NANCY P ... by all means, I'd definitely be in touch with you. Have to wait and see if my son's house gets built and all goes well for them to move in. Right now his entire family is living with his cousin until either the house if finished being built or the townhouse is repaired...whichever comes first.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... will probably have to forgo buying all the glass on the East Coast as I will definitely fly this time. My trips in one year driving to the East Coast and then to the West Coast satisfied all driving cravings. No more for a long long time. 😀

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE ... Got my car all cleaned out, got it down to the Jiffy Lube, then took it and vacuumed it at the car wash. Ran a bunch of other errands. Easy to do when the temperature is 25° cooler than it has been for the past couple of months. Everyone is walking around with big smiles on their face! 😀

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... I actually will probably make the trip to the East Coast sometime within the year. You'd probably have to glue down anything that's glass that you don't want carried away. 🙂

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... well, I'm hoping sales will improve once everyone gets all the kids back in school. Crossing my fingers...

  • Good Morning everyone. Chilly start to the day but at least the sun is shining and should warm things up a little as the day progresses. Water temps were a tad chilly too LOL brrrrr

LOL @ deafness. JimD @newtonenterprises & Marty @sellingthings Down here it is called "selective hearing"
    Don @donscns DDG!!

  • @newtonenterprises I know what you mean. Yes, I saw enough signs for museums going through there. But I really wanted to stop at that one to check it out.

  • @newtonenterprises I know there are collectors out there that choose not to belong to clubs. This weekend as a matter of fact is the shaker convention in New Bedford Ma. Ive choosen not to go this years because we went to the Akro Agate convention this past week in WV. I really wanted to get to the Museum of American Glass in Weston so it all worked out.

  • @newtonenterprises The name does not ring a bell, does he belong to the shaker club do you know?

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... that's really interesting about cats. I never knew there was a difference. I've often wondered why Frannie never climbs. Sure, she jumps on the divan or on the desk ledge in back of my computer, but she has never climbed high as a couple of cats did that we had long ago. She's never gotten on top of the dining or kitchen table, nor the counters, nor the top of the icebox. Lucky me! 🙂

  • Good Morning everyonew. Very chilly this morning. Ice on the car ..Brrrrrr Sun is shining though so if it wasn’t for the wind it would be a very nice day. Days like this would great if you lived in a GLASS House
    JimD @newtonenterprises Happy Anniversary
Janice @decoqueen Maybe its a paper weight . Could it have had some old advertising in it or maybe it was a souvenir paper weight and had a pic of the place in it.
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... Congratulations! What a wonderful trip!

@charper99 CHAR ... thanks so much for the link. That's a fine website and I've bookmarked it.

  • Good morning, glassies.

@carma CARL ... must of been something in the night-time air. Went to bed at 11:15 and tossed and turned til 2 a.m. Got up and read and went back to bed at 3 and tossed and turned til 5 a.m. Finally fell asleep and woke up at 9 a.m. As you said, just one of those nights that happens now and then...

@donscns DON ... just can't imagine the devastation with so many homes burned and everything lost. How very very sad.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... My email is excellent at keeping this stuff out of my inbox and putting these awful emails into the spam folder. The problem is I don't like to automatically delete spam in case something has been dumped into the spam folder that doesn't actually belong there....so in that case I have to check the folder before I trash it. Which means I have to look at the disgusting TITLES before I empty the entire folder. I just wish there were some way to not get the stuff PERIOD...not even in my spam folder. Guess it's just part of the cost of being in the internet era.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... Wow! That's some terrific work your son did on that old photograph!

HI to AMBER, FRAN2, GEORGE, & TOBY!

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D … really hard to see the patterns, but I’m thinking the bowls might be TWIN TEARDROPS aka ANONA, Bryce, Higbee & Co. 1905. I think the pitcher might be PEERLESS aka LADY HAMILTON by Richards & Hartley, 1875.

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D … also a close-up of the pitcher as it looks to be a different pattern.

  • Good morning, glassies.

    HI to AMBER and GEORGE.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... can you do a picture of just one bowl. I can't see the close-up of the design that well.

  • Good Morning everyone. Heading off today to a Swapmeet. Be gone for 3 days.Weather report looks good
Amber @amber1986 big big (((((hugs)))))) to you. I know how sad this day must be for you.
Marty @sellingthings Congrats to your GS
Bob @glassusa I am glad you made it home safely.
JimD @newtonenterprises I was thinking exactly the same thing as you about Toby’s shelves. But knew that he would have the sense to make sure all was strong and secure

    Happy Birthday for tomorrow Reen

  • Heavens to Betsy! In a hurried mess this morning...have a half hour break...and then a hurried mess this afternoon.

Had a friend call who's having a Yard Sale and she said she had some glass. Most just 60s snack sets and Indiana, but did get a few pieces that I can put in my booth.

    HI AMBER, KATIE, & GEORGE.

Gee,@newtonenterprises JIM D, if it wasn't so expensive I'd get that remote set for my sister. She constantly and annoyingly loses all keys, cell phone, glasses, etc. On third thought, she'd just lose the remote locator too.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... Yes, the set is expensive, but a "must have" for anyone that heavy into candlesticks. Also, have you tried the used books on Amazon. I'd put in a saved search on eBay and just wait until you could luck out on a price. That just finally happened to me with The Early American Pattern Glass Cake Stands and Serving Pieces. It keeps lising for around $60 and I finally snagged it at 18.52 and that includes the shipping.

Time to get my running shoes back on..... BBL......

  • Hi SHELLY, KATIE, and BOB. This day really got away from me. I had so much to do at home but seems I got pulled in several different directions outside the house. Just must get some items listed.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... thanks so much for the Blenko contact information. I have sent them a message and will post if I hear back from them.

  • Good Morning everyone. We had some rain over night, which I am surprised to say, after all the rain we have had over summer, was welcomed. We have had some DDG warm sunny days with no rain and though everything is still green,we just needed a little "top up" to keep it looking that way.
Marty @sellingthings enjoy your camper !!
Jim @newtonenterprises re ”Time flies when you are having fun.” yep it sure does 🙂
Don @donscns Congrats on your new acquirisitions.
@carma lovely glass on Bonanza. BTW why are the prices in british pounds? or is it just me?
NancyP @jerseystar27 I hope you are over your cold soon.
Gail @songbreeze. 😆 I bet you are tempted to send that bloke an email with a smiley goif blowing a raspberry at him 😆
Bob @glassusa Good luck with your Limoge. BTW you can see all the pic in a completed aution. Just click on the little pic that has "sold' across it and all the other pics will come up.
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies. Happy Easter!

@amber1986 AMBER ... so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend. (((((Hugs)))))

@george GEORGE & @newtonenterprises JIM D ... thanks for making me feel a bit better. He may very well have been right about it being too high priced as I had 14 watchers and not one bid. So often I think a bunch of watchers just means everybody's got one too and wants to see what it sells for. But I just thought it was so cheeky for him to say he was an expert and that it was only worth what he offered. He had no idea how much I had invested in it. I relisted it ...has 4 watchers since last night. If it doesn't sell second time around, will just take it to the mall.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim - thank you very much ! Slowly but surely, I am uncovering details on this piece.

  • @newtonenterprises At that time in rural norther IL store bought was special and home made everyday LOL. Today it has been reversed.
    george

  • Good day to all glassies. One of those nights last night, toss turn toss turn...last time I looked at the clock it was after 3:30 am. Looking for the morning coffee, I see it's been a busy time in the chat room. So now with coffee in hand, ah, and with @justmim MIM's cookies 🙂 I am ready to scroll.

@donscns DON ... sure hope you get a chance to enjoy some of your Spring Break, but it does sound as though you've got quite a bit on your plate already and none of it is dessert yet.

Yep, I surely agree with @abzoid TOBY and @newtonenterprises JIM D .... avoid sherbets at all cost and any stemware with a needle etch. Also I avoid most stemware with a cutting rather than an etch.

@sewerrats ... never, ever, is it a bother to bring an item to the chat room for ID. That is our whole "reason for being." It's great fun and a great learning experience for all of us. But with that said, I have no idea who made your stemware. Also that is a "cutting" not an "etching" on your stems. That type of stem is usually referred to as a "lady's leg" and is found by many manufacturers so it's a hard one to pin down.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... I think you really are doing the right thinking opening a different account to link to PayPal. Photos are free on eBay but I believe it's a 10¢ fee to schedule a listing. If you have Auctiva, it is free to schedule. You will save yourself a ton of money if you use eBay to print your shipping labels and eBay's app called ShipSaver for insurance. They have a video tutorial to help you learn how http://ocs.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CustomerSupport If you take the package to the post office and it's Priority you have to pay 85¢ for Delivery Confirmation. That's free when printed on-line..or if it's 1st Class or Parcel Post it's only 19¢ when printed on-line. The postage itself is cheaper when printed on-line rather than taking it to the PO.

Still scrolling but think I'll post this before I lose it..... 🙂

  • @suzy --- did not fall for the scam. Told him/ her Cash Only.
And you had ask earlier about 'cold paint'. I had a pair lamp shades of what I thought were made by Brooke Glass Company of Wellsburg, West VA.
Brooke Glass Co. I had had others that sold well. I started to wash one of them and off came the paint.
@newtonenterprises ---- CL warns that cashier's checks can be faked. It had occurred to me that they might try having the shipper present a cashier's check. I have now inserted a 'Cash Only ' in the ad.
Thanks to all of you for some very good advice. The bedroom set is on consignment at a local antique mall. I told them of the attempted scam so everybody is on the alert. Thanks again, Helen

  • Back from Gymberoo with Miss P , way past her nap time, so straight to bed and to sleep for her. Now time for Grandma to rest too LOL

Jim @newtonenterprises Yep thats correct I would not answer the phone. BUT I do have an answering service so its wise to leave a short message saying who you are and I then all I need do is press 22 and the phone will dial your number & I can return the call LOL
Shelly @shellyrae37 I am glad your sons are at least enjoying each other, considering the circumstances
I hope you are all better by now too.
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises - I agreed to a shopping survey last week as the Stop & Shop is opening a new store in the next town and I felt like putting in my two cents. TEN LONG MINUTES LATER we were through. Never again. All I did was answer the same question 20 different ways giving an answer of 1 through 10. Won't fall for that again. I thought I could complain about the raw ginger NEVER being in the same place two weeks in a row. Ho hum.
    Janice

  • Jim @newtonenterprises - I have far more than two email addresses, just two primary addresses. I have a webmaster@ address for almost every site that I manage, but I get little or no spam for those since they're rarely used to order anything or sign-up for something.

  • Jim @newtonenterprises - I get between 1500 and 2000 spam email PER DAY. I have two primary email accounts, one personal and one business. The personal I've had for 10 years, the business email for 14 years. I'm on every spam list known to mankind. So... I use a spam filtering service called SpamArrest, it blocks nearly all of the spam and lets the legit email through.

  • Jim @newtonenterprises I have a very clever phone.Along with caller ID all phone numbers in my phone book I have set to play a certain tune.Any call not in my phone book plays a different tune.So I know straight away by hearing the phone ring if its someone I know or not. I will never answer a "PRIVATE" number Those I totally ignore.
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises - Jim, wow, thanks! I'm blushing at your compliment, thank you very much! I haven't spent a lot on photo equipment, but have tried my best with what I've got. Really appreciate it!

  • Good Morning. I enjoyed my Monday morning sleep in.Didn't get up till 7a.m.
Then it is back to the grindstone after my morning cuppa and scroll of the board LOL Housework to be down, lawn looks a disgrace and needs doing again and I have a pile of empty tubs in the back room that need filling before the weekend.
Gail @songbreeze (((hugs))) to you. I know making that decision to have the abandoned puppy put down would have been a very hard one. You are such a caring person to do all that for the little guy. This world needs more Gails in it 🙂
JimD @newtonenterprises 😆 re "You know if you need more wine glasses if your friends start drinking directly out of the bottle and passing it around" Were you at that party too? 😆 ahhhhh the good ole days 😆
Shelly @shellyrae37 Do take care. I hope you feel better soon (((hugs))) BTW Fran & Doug are home from their trip
Katie @fyrqueen Now you have reorganised your home, please come on down here to help me with mine. All my rooms are looking a bit lopsided , as I continue to take pieces from here and there.
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies. A wintry cold at 12° this morning. Perhaps snow tomorrow...and by Tuesday suppose to reach 50°.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... so glad you had a lovely time on your get away.

HI to @fyrqueen KATIE and @newtonenterprises JIM D.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim worked that way for me also except I am a year older.

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D and @favoritegram LAINEY ... 😆 you all crack me up! Lainey, thanks EVER SO MUCH. This is a dear dear dear lady who has this bowl and I'm just thrilled that I can tell her about it. This is just terrific!

  • Good Morning everyone. Seems our few days of summer are over. Rain again and temps back down to 18Celsius.
JimD @newtonenterprises We had done the same. Started out taking pics of all our collections,as I was Spring cleaning & then as we added items I would take a pic when we brought it home. We also used to have a folder in the car with all the pics, simply because at times we would not remember if we had the blue or the pink, the tall or the short to finish a collection LOL
Amber @amber1986 I too have lost interest in collecting and treasure hunting since my Dh passed away. Its just not the same without him by my side 🙁
    Julie

  • LOL Don @donscns a bit like lidded & Open Sugar Bowls LOL
JimD @newtonenterprises 😆 When we sit around after setting up our stalls enjoying our nibblies and glass of wine, We tell stories and laugh about our experiences with some of our buyers. Never a dull moment and always a good belly laugh 😆

  • Good morning, glassies. Up early as I have a full day ahead with more taxi service this afternoon. Sitting here drinking coffee and watching the Today show and seeing the terrible weather all up the East Coast and sure thought of you @carma CARL. Such strange weather. We are suppose to reach 64° today. As @newtonenterprises JimD says, we are one day closer to Spring. Yea! I'm certainly not complaining. Last year in January we were at -27°.

Want to try to finish doing all my boxing up of stuff so I can then get busy and start taking photos and get some stuff listed on eBay. I'm going to lose my Top Seller if I don't get some items up and sold.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim I tried that but she wants to smell the grass for jus the right place LOL. Finally decided the the garage floor would do much better than the living room carpet! Wont become a habit because that do is normally closed.

  • @newtonenterprises Jim - appreciated ! The sheet I had ID'ed it as Cambridge #103 candy but I needed verification. Couldn't go out because of cold weather so couldn't go to library & couldn't find it on Internet ! BH says "NO-NO" because of HA. (Hurry up warmer weather !!!)
TYVM - it is greatly appreciated !

  • Good Morning, another sunny day ahead for us down here. Temps are suppose to reach 26Celsius which is low for us this time of year ,We are usually up in the hig 30's and sometimes 40C.
So good to srcoll and see the MIA pop in
Jaince @sunwoman3663 No I haven't thought about an exorcism but I have thought about kicking it LOL Tomorrow I will take it to the shop.It would have been there already but they had shut down over the Xmas New Year period.
JimD @newtonenterprises I have already down that and from what I can make out it is not anything that is attached to an external USB.I think the problems lies with the DVD-CD rom which is internal. I just wished I could shut down all the notifications, they are driving me insane LOL.
Marty @sellingthings the only ones that touch this computer is the ones that built it.They are a local business and have been operating for many years now. It is still under warranty ,though, I am not sure if my problem will be covered by that or not.I'll find that out tomorrow.
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises - Jim : Oh so true !!!! Many, many years ago, tried to help BH's cousin with their business computer - told them what was needed to upgrade machine. They did something else (installed "used" board) & wound up "frying" parts of motherboard. It was my fault because I didn't tell them "Don't install used hardware". It cost them several $K to get back in operation. They had their security gate & surveillance systems on the machine.

  • @thrifysenior67 JAYNE & @newtonenterprises JIM D … I agree with Jim that a private list might be a lot better.

I belong to another forum that does have posts that blare ”Block this Buyer” or ”Beware of Seller”. Personally, on more than one occasion, I believe the buyer’s complaint was legitimate or the seller was in the right and it was the poster him- herself that erred. There’s usually several sides to a story.

As best we can, I like keeping things and this forum on a positive road. Granted we have problems and ills, snags, and hurdles, but we are here to encourage each other. My thought would be if a Seller or Buyer is glaringly fraudulent, one might recount the circumstances here, let the members individually be the judge of the circumstances, and if they choose, they could email and request the name. I think that would be better than posting names.

All of the above is just my humble opinion…definitely not written in stone. Be interesting on how others think on the subject. I know on the other forum most of the members are quite grateful to be given a ”heads up” and the names/IDs.

  • Fran @fran , JimD @newtonenterprises & George @george I am guessing Tawain of one of those places for the glass lady. I checked out Boyd & Mosser nothing there. I checked Desna but nothing there, though they did have the lady in the bathtub, the same seller is selling. BUt Desna's were clear glasss no coloured.
Don @donscns Now that is a good report about your seller packing well. And Yes if only all sellers would take the time to think about what they are packing and what that item mush go through before it reaches its new owner
Gail @songbreeze..So glad you slept well BUT oh deary me!! what a disappointment for you to receive broken glass
Shelly @shellyrae37 Its our longest day of the year here 🙂 They say that this is our coldest Summer in 50 years.
amber @amber1986 condolences to you & your family for your loss ((hugs))
    Julie

  • @newtonenterprises Jim I sent leah the Spillman article in the Autumn-winter 2011 Bulletin.

  • @newtonenterprises | JimD - I too have a picture somewhere in the archives wearing a Navy uniform - I think I was 2 or 3 so that would be right near the end of WW II. Mom did it to honor my Uncle who was in the Navy, stationed in Oregon in "lighter-than-air" detachment out of Tillamook.

  • Good morning, glassies.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... Fantastic pictures! You're the spitting image of your mother. Wonderful photos!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... Do hope the medicine helps and quickly so.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... oh, that is such sad news about your friend and her husband that it just doesn't bear thinking about. What a horrible heartbreak.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... glad the heat/humidity are holding off for a while. I know how you hate it, but unfortunately, also how you hate air conditioning so you don't have that to help alleviate the temp.

  • @newtonenterprises I love those pictures . Thanks for sharing them.

We are back for getting the chest x-rays. Gotta get DH prescription filled now. And probably one for me a little later.

  • @newtonenterprises Thanks Jim....That light does look interesting. I remember our cats going crazy with my sons small laser pointer...hours of fun 🙂

  • @nancyjg NANCY & @newtonenterprises JIM D ... well, I have myself all cozy and fixing to go make a grilled cheese sandwich and open a can of tomato soup. My dear sister left me a container of homemade brownies, so all is right with the world now. 😀

I LOVE my computer and just have a screaming meemy fit when anything goes awry with it or the printer. Can't remember what I use to do or how I managed before there were computers. 😯

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE ... oh my, I got lost in that website. What fun! I bookmarked it.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... thanks for looking at the swan. The base looks like the base to the Vallerysthal Hen on Nest in the catalog Julie posted. But the neck on mine doesn't look round enough. As you said, probably a repro. Cute little thing though.

  • Good Morning everyone. Up early this morning. Monday is suppose to be my "sleep in day" But I have to take my car in early for its service And it needs to be washed and vacuumed . Should have done that lat week but I was struggling acclimitising to our taste of summer weather. I am now suffering from putting it off LOL
@reeen It is always good to get out after being ill. Glad you managed it.
Shelly @shellyrae37 That was the last Swap this year, for me anyway. My next one will not be till 26th January
JimD @newtonenterprises yep if I had decided to fall in love with another home I would be closer to the coast, which means I would not have to get up as early to go for my swim and the summers wouldn't be as bad. I wonder where that road would have lead us if we did make that choice? I'd probably be all rusty now from the salt air LOL
    Julie

  • Oh my. Went to help my sister at the office and now it's 4 hours later.

@reen REEN ... nice that you got a response back from the Cambridge group on your Rose Lady flower frog. Usually you can choose a centerpiece bowl and candleholders that match. Don't believe there is any one design that holds any of the figural flower frogs.

@ver2us1 JANICE ... thanks so much for correcting the mug and providing the auction #. Yikes! now I see that it was a rare one and believe me, I will have my eyes wide open next time I'm treasure hunting.

@sellingthings MARTY ... glad you got to the doctor and got put on some antibiotics. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon.

@newtonenterprises JimD ... oh how exciting that game must have been, and I can easily imagine how proud you are! Terrific pic!
