• Hi Everyone,

Long time no see, been a long several months, my FIL passed away this fall after battling Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia for over 7 years. He is now one of our angels looking over us. Now if he could just get me motivated life would be good. But that is my New Years Resolution, since now we mainly have the estate settled. Never thought it could be such a chore. Just glad that we sold the house 2 years ago, couldn't imagine doing it now.

@songbreeze - Gail - OMG, I darn near had a heart attack when I seen those pictures. Now I am wondering about the other boxes I dropped off. I guess next time someone starts to tell me about packing, I can just shoot them a picture(LOL)... But seriously I am so glad they came through just fine. Hubby also said it looks like a forklift smash job, and lucky it didn't go clear through. I plan on taking the pictures to the PO and show the girls.

@wattleihavenext - Julie - How nice to spend the night with DD and see the grandbabies celebrate Christmas Morning, now that makes life good. Sorry to read your mum is in a nursing home now, sounds like a good one. We were lucky and got my FIL in a good one, but I still always kept them on their toes. They never knew when I was going to be there.

Well better get back to making desserts and wrapping presents :-(.

    See you all

  • Hi All,

Hope all is well with everyone and hopefully we don't have any glassies in the path of Hurricane Issac.

@wattleihavenext - Julie one of my goals if I should be blessed to win the big one in the lottery is to visit your wonderful Ocean Pools(warmer weather though(G)). And the walk sounds absolutely beautiful.

@donscns - Why would a seller think that it would go away. Glad you got your money back.

@amber1986 - if you know the name of your file you can always do a search of it on your computer. I never have used any of the programs that came with my camera. I just transfer them manually to my computer via explore.

@sellingthings - You should give simply smart milk a try, no fat but doesn't taste like water. Worth the price, plus it stores for a month if you don't open it. I also write Hood every so often asking for coupons. I also use to consume a lot of chocolate and soda, but now I have in moderation. Been on a lifestyle change to drop some weight, and I will never give up my Oreos & Milk before bed. One thing that opened up my eyes was using an online site called calorie count. I never realized how much sodium I was taking in and I have never added salt to things.

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday Afternoon.

@fryqueen - I never thought of it either until the Dr mentioned it. Along with drinking lots of water. Don't know about you but today is also a killer for allergies.

@baabaamason - sorry about your computer troubles. Also you might check with USB Drives being so cheap, you could use that to back up critical files.

@donscns - That is such a shame, these items can not be replaced. Just breaks my hear to see beautiful items ruined because of carelessness. Sorry to hear of your loss, will say a prayer for you all.

@songbreeze - Bummer about the power, but maybe the system was shocked with the rain. Hopefully you got a good soaking rain. Sorry can't help you with your perfume, but it sure is pretty.

@carma - You are so right about checking the sellers listings. Even though some season sellers lack in their descriptions. I don't care what anyone says, if an item is 100 year old and has a chip, I expect to be told so in the description, instead of getting the item and finding out that it does have a chip and they say what do you expect from a 100 year old item. And if you get bored and want another place to clean out, LMK I would be willing to sacrifice my house for the task(G).

@newtonenterprises - That's a great price, will have to check out Walmart this week.

Well off to make an early dinner πŸ™‚

  • Bill - Yup that is me πŸ™‚

  • Hi All,

@shellyrae37 - I had no clue either, but like I said I use Stamps.com. I just wasn't going to ship the thing under my name.

@wattleihavenext - No Problem, I got it and will get a card off to her, mail that isn't a bill is worth it's weight in gold. Miss P must be getting really big, and If I remember right isn't there another on the way? Someday I hope I will have a little grand one running around.

@charper99 - I don't have any complaints on the shipping charges. I will never ever mark anything fragile. Had it out with the postmaster one time about that, I won he lost.

@itsagas - Are You talking about my yellow basket over on RL(LOL) I see Leah has helped you out.

@songbreeze - Also see Leah has helped you.

@fryqueen - Sorry can't help on vase, and Allergies really bite this year. Though I have found mucinex has helped with my claritin.

@goodwinantiques - Thanks for the basket education. I will send pictures of my basket (mine is a ugly bright yellow(LOL))when I have an extra few minutes.

@baabaamson - just get a full size keyboard and plug it into the laptop.

  • Hi All,

Hope all is well with everyone, it is hard to believe that summer is almost over. It has gone by way to fast if you ask me, and I don't even like summer(LOL).

@wattleihavenext - That would be great if you or anyone else had Mary Pat's Address.

@shellyrae37 - Son just printed out a label at my house so I could mail his package and was given a choice of the USPS Insurance or EBay's Insurance.

@charper99 - Gail is right, nothing to be nervous about shipping glass. That link has some great packing tips. And the main things to remember is to make sure that you have the right size box, make sure everything is packed tight and there is no movement and only use the USPS for shipping. The more you do it, the better you get at it.

@songbreeze - At first it reminded me of Imperial Reeded Pattern but didn't find that shape, then I thought Hockings Circle, but only have very little info on that pattern, so didn't see it.

@10bbg10 - I thought the same as Shelly Westmoreland, looked through my book but didn't find an exact match.

  • Hello All

@songbreeze @ george - Thanks for the update of people, hopefully Fran will get to feeling better soon.

@wattleihavenext - Well I plan on be a regular again, need to make time for me and more learning. On your samsung tablet, you need to get the TV to go with that so you can surf the internet and watch TV at the same time(G)....... I forgot all about MaryPat, sorry to hear that she is not well. Does anyone have an address they can shoot me, I would love to send a card out to her, nothing is worse then being down after back surgery.

@carma - wow you have accomplished a lot, after your done, you can come do mine if you need something to do(G)..... Back to school already, wow summer has flown by to fast.

@glassusa - I use stamps.com and it usually takes 10-14 days for a refund, it is the USPS that holds it up according to Stamps.com It bites when you make a big mistake like that.

@shellyrae37 - I think that Ebay uses ship insurance as their insurer. I have used them for years and have had no problem with them. One claim and paid out promptly.

  • Hi All,

Long time no post, just been busy with family and life in general along with selling things. Now it is time to get serious again, and reboot my enthusiasm about selling again instead of going through the motion. You all have been good for that with all your postings. Not even going to try to look back longer then from today's post. Seems like most of the gang is here other then Fran, Kelli & Carma anyone know how they are doing?

@wyogems - I lived in Cheyenne for almost 10 years, beautiful country out there. I really miss the low utility bills and Cheyenne Frontier days.

@Wattleihavenext - Congrats on your sale :-), hope you have a lot more like that.

@ donscns - You can not have to many curio cabinets.

@ sunwoman3663 - Good for you, it just makes me so made when people do this. What even makes me madder is when the Salvation Army is selling something good at a very cheap price and people try to talk them down. I always but and say I will buy it for the price marked. Of course the people then want to pay full price, knowing very well they will sell it for at least 3-4 x what they pay for it.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

  • Thanks everyone for the input about the glassware, dishwasher is not new, from 1986 but have not had any problems with any other glassware I have put in before. Think I will give hubby some input on these to make sure he would like drinking from them daily.

  • Well they aren't really antique they are from the 1960(gosh that is 52 years ago seems like yesterday(LOL)), the Georgian I have now is from the late 60s and works just fine, but is a lot heavier and thicker. I do know some of the glass back then was made to be used in the dishwasher, but my good doesn't say one way or another.

I usually get 15 a piece for them since they are ruby with crystal foot, but only paid a dollar a piece maybe I will experiment with them to see what happens.

  • Hi All,

I have a question, does anyone know if you can run Morgantown Crinkle footed tumblers through the Dishwasher with out being destroyed? I have a couple sitting here and thinking I really like them, but only if they don't have to be hand washed (LOL).... And just might replace my everyday Georgian tumblers.

    Thanks

  • Evening All,

Julie - LOL sure is a slow day here. Nice weather and everyone is out and about.

Nancy P- Sorry to hear about your MIL, you all will be in my prayers.

George - I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those to countries to get together. My father was stationed in Lebanon a long long time ago and said there never would be peace over there in any of our lifetimes.

Gail - Please keep the heat there, I do not like it one bit. Over the last couple of years I have been select in my buying and I think of shipping the piece before I buy. It has to be an incredible deal for me to buy it. It is nice that you have a helper to help you out. I am going to tap my niece a couple times this summer to help me clear somethings out.

Don - You are really lucky, here I would fear leaving it as someone would probably walk off with it while I was in the store(LOL)...

Helen & Marty nice sales, life is always good when they come when you least expect it.

Bob - Secret to downsizing is instead of buying that 2 foot item, you go down a size to a one foot item(G).....

Well it seems that the storms have finally arrived. Time to log off

  • Evening All,

Hope everyone had a great and safe Memorial Day Weekend. It's always nice to celebrate with family and friends, and I am thankful for those who do and have enable us to do so. So my thanks to any Veterans or Military members out there.

Gail - I found the seller exclusion box, that is so cool. Now It will be easier to having to check a list before I buy. I am going to test that theory, I found a Ruby Stain Saddle TP Holder that is rare according to Heacock. Just need to take pictures of it before I list it. When I bought it the price was right and I said to myself I don't ever remember seeing it in RS.

George - Interesting didn't know that about memorial day.

Carl - Hope the flea market works for you, a lot of them around here fill up with Junk and fake designer things.

  • Evening All,

At least it didn't get as hot as they predicted today, life is good πŸ™‚

Bob- Well at least you have something you like if they don't sell. πŸ™‚

Gail - Not sure what do you mean about the packing boxes.

Nancy - my problem is selling what I bought to sell. once I get it sitting on my desk a bit, I don't want to give it up. Just in Awe of the stuff.

Marty - That is horrible about the campground and your damage, but thank goodness everyone is ok and you have insurance.

Julie - I think 18C is a bit cool for us over on this side of the pond. Though I would love to go swimming in your Pool, I just think it is so cool looking. Miss P is so adorable, and looks like she and Daddy is having lots of fun making good memories.

Gail Mac- You can keep them, I hate bugs they just give me the creeps, and flying ones are the worse. But with that said, great picture(LOL)

    Bear

  • Morning all,

Reen - That sounds perfect, I also spend hours looking at old glass, actually anything old in general. It fascinates me that things could last that long.

Gail - We are kindred spirits, that is the perfect temp for me, though if I can't have that I would rather have it cooler then hotter even if my Raynards acts up with the cold.

Bob - Don't know much, but your item looks like something I would find at Pier One or Marshalls which heavily support the China Movement.

Hope everyone has a great day

Boy time flies, someone sent me this picture and I if I remember right isn't this Frans Team

    http://news.yahoo.com/photos/snapshots-slideshow/jumping-frog-photo-1337620007.html

Bozo has stuck with me since I loved Bozo in my youth(LOL)......

Reen - Beautiful Pictures, I just love when Museums label the glass like that.

Carma - That is interesting on what happened with the Auction, it would be great if it all worked out.

Gail- Thought I was hot here at 82 but you got me beat, most are disappointed that it is going to be cloudy and cooler Sunday and Monday, not me I like it cool. Glad you could ID your glass.

Julie - I always forget your seasons are opposite of ours, Every time I see Australian Lifeguards I think of you swimming in your local swimming hole.

    Bear πŸ™‚

  • @songbreeze Gail – Yeah, but up this way they take the dollar store candlestick and glue it to a 16 oz Red Solo Cup, and it is a redneck wine glass. A while back there was one antique store selling fake Channel, Gucci, Coach and a few other designer bags. I told them that the local police was on a busting mood and shut down a few places for dealing with counterfeits. Next time I was there the booth was gone. Just like I get upset seeing recent glass passed off as EAPG.

@glassusa - Bob that is to bad about the sale, when people tell me it is selling on Ebay for such and such, I just say Show me, I can list it on Ebay for a million dollars, but it doesn't mean I will get it.

@panishklo Marson - Your so right about things not being used, and since they aren't used people don't have fond memories to them. I use my good china, sliver and crystal anytime we have a gathering. I want to create memories for people, and if I am ever blessed with Grandchildren, I will create lots of memories for them. Because in this day and age it is fairly easy to find a replacement piece for a broken one.

@carma Carl - That is to bad to lose a clam place, I just love fried clams. Sounds like there was no one to take over the business. There was a place on the North Shore a while back that closed, when speaking with the owner he said his children didn't want the business but wanted the money the bank was giving him for the property. But he and his wife decided if they didn't want the business, then they didn't deserve any of the money for the property and they moved to Florida to get away from everyone.

Well if I am not back on before Sunday I want to wish Everyone who is a Mother A Very Happy Mothers Day :-)!

  • Morning All,

Hope all is well with everyone, the time just seems to be flying by. I have been busy babysitting and visiting with nieces and nephews and have been loving it. The best compliment was when I was babysitting my grandniece all day and her mom came home and I was leaving, she wanted to come with me(LOL).

Is anyone sick about what they are doing to old glass, porcelain etc? I was with a girlfriend last week in shop where they took an old Shelley tea cup & Saucer glued them together and made a candle out of it. I have had this set before and have sold it for $125.00. If I knew how to get it unglued I would of gotten this for a bargain price of $15.00. While I was looking at this the shopkeeper came over and said isn't it pretty, I said yes it is but a beautiful piece of porcelain got ruined, and if you had just left it as a Cup & Saucer you could of gotten around $100.00 for it. She was shocked, and thought grandmas Cups and Saucers where just that. And I don't even want to talk about what they are doing to EAPG and Depression glass, it's sad.

@songbreeze Gail - You are right about if you price well at a booth, people will come back. When I am out and about at shops there are at least 2 booths in every shop I do stop buy and more then likely buy something from them because their prices are so well. Though sometimes I think they don't have a clue about EAPG, but it works for me.

@wattleihavenext Julie - I sell at prices I don't regret, and never ever look at others auctions or stores who have bought from me. I look at it this way, I got the price I wanted, and if they sell it for more I chalk it up as them being at the right time at the right place. You could of listed the bowl on Ebay and not of sold it, plus you have all the fees, the worry of shipping etc. This way here you got what you wanted and no worries or fees.

@sellingthings Marty - Hope they figure out what is wrong with you, also don't exclude any medicine that you are taking that could be causing a problem.

I also learned a new thing about geography last week, is that part of Russia is in Europe, I grew up thinking it was in Asia. So if you do not want to ship to Russia and a few other countries also considered Europe, you might want to change your settings to exclude them. I had no Idea you can select Europe and then exclude individual countries. I was surprised how many countries I excluded and never gave it thought before then.

@shellyrae37 Shelly - Thank You for the instructions, can they hide that link any deeper. It use to be under the sold, but once you send the original invoice, it goes away.

@wattleihavenext Julie - Thanks, it is gone from there, but with Shelly's instructions I found it just fine.

@ abzoid Toby - That sure is a beautiful set, thanks for sharing.

@songbreeze Gail – Lucky you, I love having the books and catalogs, I love looking at the old ads and seeing what things cost back in the day(LOL)............

  • Evening All,

So glad the rain has stopped for now, I don't mind a study rain, but when it down pours a huge puddle forms in the road out of our area that is impassable, and then we need to go behind the skating rink. Its a pain, but now the water is down and life is good again.

@ Everyone - Does anyone know how to resend a reminder invoice to a customer on EBay? I have one from an auction last week that hasn't paid yet.

@wattleihavenext Julie – We will have to do an investigation, though my physic Powers tells me the first name begins with D (LOL)....... Better start preparing Miss P for sharing(LOL).....

@songbreeze Gail – That is a darling reamer set, but it wouldn't of been cute enough to drink OJ as a kid(LOL).

@dolores1953 - That is good about tanning beds, I have always tried to stay out of the sun. Even now I avoid it at all cost since I burn to a crisp.

  • Evening All,

@wattleihavenext Julie – OK I am innocent on this one, I did not say a thing, but since it is kinda out, congrats πŸ™‚ I know my time will come when it is right. So I enjoy the Grand Nieces and Nephews for the fix now.

@fryqueen Katie - LOL, I also had hoped when younger that my freckles would run together, but instead they moved from my face to my arms, guess freckles sag to(LOL).....

@wattleihavenext Julie - If I had a grandbaby I think I would need a daily fix(LOL)..... I keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason, even if you don't know why at the time, but I didn't think it applied to having grandchildren(LOL)...

@shellyrae37 Shelly – your welcome, if you have a store I would list them in there. It is one of those things that might take a bit to sell at the higher price

@gailmacphee Gail – You absolutely right about the return policy, if someone wants their money back there is a good chance of them getting it back. I do combine things for shipping, but I still only ship priority mail and sometimes I let them know that it is cheaper to get the two packages. The thing I have against Parcel Post is that it is handled the most and usually always goes by truck and that just gives a greater chance of breakage. I have different size boxes, so I usually can get stuff to fit into the standard package size. I limit to the overseas countries I ship to, a lot has to do in addressing the label to make sure it get there. The people buying it don't know the proper format of where they live.

@sellingthings Marty - Whatever you do, do not take that flashlight into the bathroom(LOL)..............

@carma Carl - Well I think your weather forecast sealed it for me. I was suppose to go to a memorial service up in Sanford, but do not feel like traveling that far by myself in the rain. I don't be grudge it because we all need it, just wish the rain came at a slower pace.

Well off to do some work

    Bear πŸ™‚

  • Evening All,

What a wonderful day before all the rain that is coming.

@songbreeze Gail - Didn't even know I had made it until I was looking to re-invoice a person, and found they took that option away that I could see, so I just sent them an email. I know I will loose the status as fast as I got it, but heck for a few minutes it was good(LOL). Of course this is Frans field, but I am guessing no on the Candlewick tray, never ever remember seeing pastel candlewick colors.

@shellyrae37 Shelly - your welcome the mugs I usually sell between 20 - 25 depending on my mood(LOL)......

@wattleihavenext Julie - Of course Miss P got her looks from her grandma :-). Someday I will get one, but until then I have lots of Grand nephews and Grand nieces to keep me busy.

@collectibles4utwo Chris - Sorry no idea either, I didn't see Gails note so I looked too(LOL) Looking at the coloring I would guess 50s.....

@gailmacphee Gail - I would do away with parcel post, I use to run out everyday to mail, but now I only do MWF, Only use first class mail or priority mail, Never send parcel post, and once forced to change my return policy it will be no returns. 14 days is much to long of a window to change their minds. Though it really doesn't make to much of a difference in things, unless they are paying you cash. And printing online saves lots of money.

    Bear πŸ™‚

  • Evening All,

Boy the days fly by, thought I was on her just the other day but wrong.

@songbreeze Gail & @wattleihavenext - Thanks for the update on Fran, glad she is fine and having fun. Congrats Gail on the 1000 Stars, I just found out I am now a Bronze Power Seller. Miss P sounds so cute. I love the glasses story, I think it would be hard to resist giving in.

@shellyrae37 - Not sure if you got an id on the green mug in the picture but it is Irish wade and you can check here to date the markings on the bottom. http://www.happywadeing.com/reference/backstampsireland.php

Funny all these off countries shipping to, I just shipped something to Cyprus. Was a bit wary at first, but figured what the heck. If it did go missing only out $15.00 that included the shipping, and it sold with shipping for $75.00. Didn't see any warnings about that.

@justmim Mim - Sorry to hear about your gout, hubby has it and Turkey, Caffeine, Shellfish a big no no. One thing he learned from his step dad who swore by it was taking black Cherry Concentrate Capsules. DH figured what the heck since he was having problems with the meds they wanted him to take. So he has been taking them for the last 6 months and knock on wood hasn't had an attack even though he is eating some of the No no items in moderation.

Now all this item is unreal and I am thinking this is what the younger Generation wants to buy. Found a set of 6 of these for $5.00 each at an antique store today.

3 birthday and Easter in 3 Days, but I am glad it is all over with. Hope ever one had a Good Easter or having a Happy Passover.

@shellyrae37 Shelly - Most of them are made in China, I never shopped there for the longest time because of their return policy (even when son worked there and I could of gotten a discount). If you returned something you only got a store credit even if you paid cash and had a receipt. They changed it several years back so now I stop in there once in a while.

@carma48 - That is sad to see another company go, though while visiting the Sandwich Glass Museum a couple years back while the glass is not my type, there were some beautiful studio glass being made. Hopefully future generations will support US Artist and appreciate their work.

Not to good shopping today, forgot one antique shop was closed on Tuesdays, and only found one pretty Duncan Miller Silver overlay Terrence handled bowl, but other then that I didn't find anything else worthwhile, even with 50% off a lot of booths no profit to be made. Oh well, at least it was a nice day out.

  • @abzoid - Nice sugar, actually this rim has a slight roll to it and the flair seemed to make it not possible to have a lid along with no markings or evidence of a lid. I found two others on Ebay of course without ID, but one says it's rare and Victorian(G).. forgot what the other one said. Made me think of a tyg because I had a piece of Tiffany by spode I think that was the same exact shape and size and yes I drank Pepsi out of that one to(G)...... This one is now a mystery that I will keep trying to ID and just might end up keeping if I can't ID it because of the shape, do wish it was Ruby stained though πŸ™‚

  • @songbreeze - I just put a request to join, I see several familiar faces over there, I like to visit and drool over the glass. You need to be careful and not to close to the monitor, you could short circuit it(LOL)

@shellyrae37 - Thanks for the look, I have been through the books, thought maybe Gail might have the magic search engine touch over on the EAPGpattern website. I am slowly getting better on searches over there.

@abzoid - Thanks for your input also, the shape of the top as it has a slight flair would never hold a top. It is comfortable to drink pepsi out of, though my thought was an open sugar bowl. I will check out Indiana, can't hurt as I was clueless, just figured the pattern would be easy to find(that should be my first clue) plus the price was great.

  • Hi Gail,

Thanks for trying, I did go through a bunch of different ones on the eapgpatterns, still trying to learn how their search works but came up with a blank. I was thinking about the FB Group, I lurk over there and just like looking at all the pretties. I swear EAPG is a curse(LOL) I love it so, I think that the idea that something that could survive 100 years is just so sentimental to me. Wondering who loved it so much before etc.

    Thanks
    Bear πŸ™‚

  • Thought I would try this Tyg for ID again. It is 3 3/4 inches tall and top is flared out at 3 1/4 inches and the base is 2 7/8 inches in diameter. When I bought this thought it would be easy, guess not.

    Thanks Bear πŸ™‚

  • Hi All,

So sad to come and read all about what is happening to Fenton Glass. Perhaps it might be better to write to the several US Billionaires and explain the plight of what will happen to the Fenton assets if the Chinese where to get a hold of them. And for the sake of the US that it is best the the molds be either housed in a museum, or College and never to be sold, or just destroyed them and the other information never used. I am sure Bill Gates does not like when the Chinese copy their items plus him and Warren Buffet who are just giving money away. Plus this is a cause to protect the great American Glass History. It is just so sad we are yet getting sold out to the Chinese again.

  • Hi All,

Long time no see, but super busy taking care of FIL with his Alzheimer's and keeping things afloat with selling that I love. I came across this tyg and can't find the pattern. Thought someone here might be able to help out. It is 3 3/4 inches tall and top is flared out at 3 1/4 inches and the base is 2 7/8 inches in diameter. When I bought this thought it would be easy, guess not.

    Thanks Bear πŸ™‚

  • Hi All,

All this talk about things and values, what I have done is list them in Excel, started with 1 and don't remember what number I am at. But if I get something worth more then $50.00 I put a small removable sticker on the bottom with a number and then put all the particulars in excel, I also have a hard copy and a disk as back up for my computer. So that way there no problem if something happens if they pick up an item and it has a sticker it means it has value and to look up the number. I also numbered a few of the family items with its history. Just remember to update you values from time to time.

@10bbg10 Helen - I use this Please contact before purchasing for other forms of acceptable payments not listed above. So far so good with it.

@wellingtonct Laurie - That is a good reference site for items but they don't have everything. I personally love my books. I have picked most of them up on EBay/half.com/amazon for dirt cheap prices since people are giving them up.

@fryqueen - You can find them it just is going to cost you between 30 - 50 unless you get lucky and find someone who doesn't know anything.

@shellyrae37 - hope you get to feeling better. I have been on both ends of an auction where in the last seconds there is a furry of bids. I still like it to end when it ends, that is what makes it an auction.

@songbreeze Gail - I to also enjoyed the coffee even though I don't drink it. Have fun on your road trip.

  • Hi All,

@wattleihavenext Julie - Glad you had a good swap meet, by going a different route, at least you didn't have to look at the same scenery. I always do that when I can take two ways to get to somewhere take one way there and another way back. Thanks for explaining what a tinnie was πŸ™‚

@songbreeze Gail - not everyone watches the Superbowl, especially since now they release more then half the commercials before the big day. Not to mention if it isn't their teams they don't watch.

@abzoid Toby - 12 steps is no good everyone knows we will just say we can't get rid of family heirlooms(LOL)..........

@shellyrae37 - I wouldn't want the auctions to extend 15 mins, I like them they way they are, and judging from Julie's auction last week I think it was the system works just fine. The problem is the internet, before access people thought things were rare or hard to find, now there are very few items that are actually rare or HTF, so they just don't bid knowing there will be another one coming along.

Well off to make cookies for son's SB party, I am for one interested in this game Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Bear πŸ™‚

  • Evening all, weather is looking up for a bit.

@songbreeze Gail- I always go to the Heacock books first, they have good pictures and many patterns on one page. (LOL)..... The glass you found is so beautiful, I am always in awe when glass that old survives so beautifully, and that is why I price it the way I do(LOL)........
@wattleihavenext - I just love reading your post I learn so much about your language, though I have to ask what is are Tinnies? I am thinking a pint?

@jrmrock Jesse - Happy Birthday and hope you got everything you wanted and then some πŸ™‚ Do you find using Twitter and FB any help to sales? I have resisted but who knows one day if proven a given.

@George - Always nice when family visits, almost as good as when they leave, only kidding. Hope you had a nice visit.

@mary - I didn't see anything on your cake plate either, sorry.

  • @songbreeze Gail - Do you have heacocks / Elmore Opalescent from A-Z? Jefferson Made it 1903 Then in 1910 Fenton produced it. Then Fenton reproduced the vase in Opalescent cranberry in 1995. The notes read According to Frank M. Fenton, the Fenton pattern has five backwards C's on the scroll design where as the Jefferson version has Seven. Maybe Carma can shed some light in the morning.

@donscns - All I can say is do not take the blacklight into the bathroom(LOL).............

  • Hi All,
    http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y12/m01/i24/s04

Interesting read about collectibles and Yeah Glass made the top 10 πŸ™‚

  • @carma - Oh I know you all get unreal windchill, we use to get them in WY when I lived there. Sounds strange though -19 below seems warmer if no wind chill. - 19 below due to windchill just seems colder. One thing about living in Cheyenne was a lot of time it was to cold to snow.

WTG Julie - an old fashion Ebay auction with the bidding frenzy at the end, hope you recovered by now πŸ™‚

  • Evening All, WTG Patriots what a game πŸ™‚

Thanks everyone for Heisey ID, actually after reading bob's and George's post I checked page 359 and then flipped the page to see the Nappy on page 361 that is exactly like mine, also a very dark dark picture. Again I appreciate everyone helping with the ID of the two pieces.

@wattleihavenext - WTG on the auction can't wait to see what it ends at, hopefully it will be an auction of yesteryear when the bidding war takes place the last 2 minutes of the auction. How is Miss P doing? She must be getting big.

@carma - Well even though it is cold, with a wind chill factor it is much worse. Though as I type this it is probably a lot colder now and an Ice storm is suppose to be moving in soon.

  • @carma - Thanks for the ID, I was thinking Fenton but couldn't find it in my book. And thanks for explaining the difference between Fenton and Northwood. So is that -17 before windchill. Reminds me of when I lived in WY.

@glassusa & @george - appreciate the other id, I had seen that one in Replacements, but discounted it because it didn't have the wave to the pattern, but now realize that all the replacement pieces are plates and probably wouldn't have.

@baabaamason - your piece looks like Westmorelands Beaded Bouquet Cameo candy with lid Line # 753 from 1978 -1980.

Thanks All off to watch some football Go PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @george - Thanks unfortunately its neither, I got my camera charged.

Here is the picture of the Heisey bowl It is 6 3/4 inches in diameter and 2.00 inches tall.

  • Hi All, Don't have a picture at the moment, but was wondering if anyone knows of a Heisey Pattern that looks like Duncan Miller Caribbean? I bought it thinking it was DM until I seen the Heisey Mark.

    Thanks

  • @fenton - I believe your RS Compote is Florida's Greensburg a.k.a.Sunken Primrose produced by Greensburg Glass circa 1894 and decorated in Ruby and yellow by Oriental

  • @songbreeze Gail - In the Wheeling Book it says that this pattern was probably put into service around 1912. Which set do you have, the prices vary greatly.

@enchantmentglass Kelli - Hope you have a Very Happy Birthday and get everything you wanted and then some πŸ™‚

  • Evening All,
Guess everyone is out with good weather, hard to believe no jacket weather in New England today. I want my snow.............

@Carma - Thanks for the ID, I really appreciate it. Don't know how I missed it in Edwards and Carwile but I did. Though your information was much more detailed.

@songbreeze Gail – Make sure you take pictures when your done, I love looking at peoples booths.

  • Evening all,

Just getting ready for one more Christmas Celebration, that will make 6 in total. I just love it so and will be sad to take down my Christmas decorations.

    Your welcome @itsagas & @sellingthings and I see carma confirmed it 100%.

@songbreeze Gail - I don't know why but I love using that volume to look up things, I also love wading through the ads in Kamms books. when I like something I buy, I price it at a ridiculous price and if they buy it at that price fine, if not I get to look at it until I am sick of it(G)........

@wattleihavenext Julie - Sorry to hear about your one friend and that's great news on your other friend. You deserve a pint or two after all the work you did today.

Does Anyone have a clue about this pattern, I have looked and looked and now give up

  • @sellingthings - in Carma's Book he says "Virtually all Memphis items carry the Northwood Trademark.' Given that note and the link from Fran to Doty's website I would say you have a good chance that it is a reproduction.

@itsagas - Your items is a Cigar & Match holder. If you have Heacock's Volume 7 on page 181 is a picture of a 1910 Butler Bros Catalog showing your item. Hope that helps.

  • Hi All,

Love the Christmas season, hectic but so pretty not much left in the way of shopping left. But then if I finish to early I still shop (LOL) so I will pace out the week, plus lots of activities at the local Nursing home my FIL is in, they do such a good job at Holidays to keep the residents busy and happy.

@ Fran - Your all set excellent macro, here are the specs: Focus range (from lens) 50 cm (1 ft 8 in.) to infinity (∞), Macro close-up mode: 1 cm (0.4 in.) to infinity (∞) congrats on your new camera,

@@10bbg10 Helen - Your vase is actually a Potpourri Jar With Lid. I have one but in the Village Pattern

@baabaamason Bob - I can't believe bidding on ones own items are legal unless it was an estate auction. Not sure I would go to auctions like that.

Well off to pack a few gifts that need to be in Monday's Mail πŸ™‚

  • Evening All,

Love all the activities at Christmas time, but it sure takes a toll on time.

@itsagas - If you look at Fenton's #737 Comport it looks more like the foot of yours and it measures 3 3/4 inches http://www.shetlarglass.com/stretchglass/SGCompanies/Fenton/Fenton08a.htm , Also in Fenton Art Glass 1907 - 1939 by Whitmyer all the pieces have the pattern on the base.

@mainewildrose SUE - Congrats on the new grandbaby, will say prayers for your DIL and Baby. You and Gail still give me hope in some day I will get one(LOL).

@fran - Your table setting is beautiful, she looks so pretty peeking out. And I love your candles, very unique.

@reen - Indiana glass also made sandwich pattern using Duncan Miller #41Mold

@10bbg10 HELEN - Not sure what your question was, but I have shipsaver Insurance never had to make a claim but several people I know have and the only problem was when they shipped to one of their non insured countries. What they needed was print off the Invoice showing the cost, then there is a shipping charge no matter who paid for it, so they just need to send a copy of the receipt. They will not reimburse the shipping charges, but they will send pay for the item when provided with the right info. You can always call them, they have always been very helpful to me.

  • Evening All, just got back from having dinner with hubby. Nice place down the street no frills no thrills but solid good food. Had a good laugh though, they wrapped all the photos in wrapping paper to make them look like presents. It was very festive with the exception that on of the paper had Ho Ho Ho all over it. But they wrapped it upside down and it reads OH OH OH, I was the first one to notice it all week we all had a good laugh.

@wattleihavenext - See I have devious plan, nothing will go home with the child, they can have fun with all the things around the house and they will get attached to them, so when they are older they will have fond memories of things and want to have them. πŸ™‚ But I like your idea of starting Miss P on a Collection, sounds so cute.

@Fran - Mine is 30 and Momma is impatient(LOL).... But I will survive this and when the time is right it will happen, until then I will live for the grand nieces and Newphew (LOL)... They were showing pictures of your windstorm, hopefully you didn't have any damage.

@glassusa Bob - Glad it turned out well for you, maybe the buyer realized that you were honest in returning part of the shipping, so wanted to be honest on their part.

@jmart8248 IRENE M - Maybe she didn't know what season it was suppose to be either.

  • Evening All, Been out Christmas shopping, and driving home in the dark seeing all the houses lit up. I love this time of year.

@fran - Well at least you get to see them at work, that is a plus. It is hard to not see them but we go on. But at least he should give you a call, that is almost as good. I would love my own little Miss P or Mr P, I just want a grandbaby, but no luck yet. These kids now a days are in no hurry, I don't like that cause I want my grandbaby. I keep telling DS no worries cause I am going to adopt a kid or two and sooner or later I will get one(LOL)..... Until then I have lots of Grand Nieces and Nephews to dot on. And Julie is so right, we raise them right and we cry when they leave. Though Empty nesting has been lots of fun in the last 6 years πŸ™‚

@wattleihavenext Julie - Sounds like Miss P is ready for her first phase of collecting training. Get her interested early and keep her going :-).

@sunwoman3663 JANICE - I am with Gail on the Bar Keepers friend, I use that all the time along with 409 my other friend in cleaning things.

Well off to do description YUCK

    Bear πŸ™‚

  • Evening all

@songbreeze Gail - Got your message once I figured out where my inbox was(LOL) also sent you one in return thanks again.

@shellyrae37 - Your welcome one of a couple of things I have stayed away from in glass, way to many items out there that won't sell.

@fyrqueen KATIE - Haven't a clue about them, But at the price the are now and you don't need to pay shipping I would give them a try even if one doesn't have a dauber.

@amber1986 - I have been with the glass boards and other boards and hands down the glass board are the nicest group of people you will meet. Just makes one want to be part of this family, and there always room for one more. And the best part is the learning experience I get when visiting.

@ reen- I use to use colored sands and bury the tea lights in that thinking fire safety. But the glass just heated up to hot and shattered, only took once and have never done that again. Now I like to bury the electric tea lights in crushed glass and will stick them in anything.

  • Hi All, after a terrible rainy night my sinuses are just horrible. I hate weather changes, usually I can head them off, but didn't watch the weather so now I pay.

@wattleihavenext - I looked in my Paden City Book and didn't see the bowl.

@reen - Be very careful if you light the candles as the glass can shatter if it wasn't made to use as a candle holder (know this one personally). Now I am into the electronic candles from the dollarstore and I just dress them up with whatever I have on hand, and no worries about fire or glass shattering.

@shellyrae37 - If I remember right Fostoria glass is frosted, but be sure to look at the coins in then glass. Here is a site I had bookmarked http://www.ehow.com/about_5101241_history-fostoria-coin-glass.html

@amber1986 - Don't feel embarrassed about posting anything, we all were learning at one time and continue to learn for those who post answers to others. I would rather post a picture then read a manual. If I need to know something I hop over to Youtube and watch a video, learned how to use my smart phone over there(LOL).

@10BBG10 Helen - your Great Grand babies are beautiful, I am doubting that I will ever have any grand kids, DS and DIL better get going I need someone to take over my Junk empire to(LOL)............

@george - Glad to hear you feeling a little bit better, being under the weather bites.

  • @songbreeze Gail - That is a beautiful picture, I forgot about the editing which is a good thing since I really don't have any room to collect anything else. So I will stick with collecting Mugs from the 1800s through the last of the EAPG era. Excellent idea also about the binders. Plus if a page rips, its easy to fix I like the idea of adding to the book also, thanks for sharing the idea.

  • @amber1986 it looks like you don't have the macros on to take a picture of your piece. The macros is usually indicated by a little flower symbol. Hope that helps

  • Morning All πŸ™‚ Hope everyone is doing good and had a Great Thanksgiving. Finally have a little down time, though I usually pop in everyday just don't write very often. Ok it is really bugging me, the EAPG SHELL AND TASSEL in the banner what is the actual color of that piece? Is it just the way it was photographed that gave it the coloring? I just love it, it is so pretty.

@JimD I don't trust those cloud servers, to me they are just one big serving place for hackers in my opinion. I keep mine in a small address book that is in a cut out book I made. RubyLane just migrated to a Cloud server and it was a nightmare, they still are having problems, though they deny it. But it shouldn't take 5 minutes to list something, the only other thing in my mind to slow down a server is either maintenance, or a hack attempt and they weren't doing maintenance.

@Everyone I have a question about books. What do you do when your paperback books start falling apart. I have several that are being to fall apart, and one Field Guide to Pattern Glass that has fallen apart. I was thinking about binding it with one of them spiral binders. Was just wondering if I am the only one with this problem, or others have it and what are your solutions? Well off to wash some items to list.

  • Evening all,

Have snow up this way already, it is so much fun. Probably will only end up with an inch, but I will take it.

@bill - thanks for the info on the banner

@gail - thanks for info also.On the SHELL AND TASSEL (#555) the coloring or how they took the picture just makes it look stunning, that is my favorite. Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY and have fun in CA. Also thanks for putting all those names together, they came out nice on my screen.

@mm - Thanks I got the 3 of them for a buck so not to worried. Nice pictures, I lived in Goldsboro NC for a year, was way to hot for me. Also it was a dry County so we were able to make some money off the locals, because the base had booze(LOL). But then that was over 30 years ago, wonder if it has changed.

@ don - Thanks for the banner info also

@susan - I love the snow, we lived in Cheyenne for over 10 years and couldn't get enough.

    @panishklo Marson, Happy Birthday Also!

@Deb - Happy Birthday to you also!

@Fran - Thanks for the ID, my gut knew but for the buck I bit (LOL)........ Hope you had a good birthday yesterday πŸ˜‰

@Shelly - I miss Estes Park, when we lived in WY we would go there at least once a month.

@Helen - Thanks for the info on the glass repair site, could come in handy sometime.

In case anyone is interested I have the banner glass list thanks to everyone who helped ID

Love the new banner, but maybe someone could provide a cheat sheet for the glass shown. I know the two on each end, but not the middle 3. Really would love to know the third from the left. It is so beautiful.

@carma - Congrats on GD soccer at that age is actually interesting to watch. At least the weather will be good by then.

@ Fran - HAPPY BIRTHDAY hope you had a great one and got everything you wanted and then some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now could you please help me out with my Balls, thought it was candlewick, but doubt it now and just want to make sure.

5 9/16" Tall, base 2 3/8 inches in diameter, Top 2 1/8 inches in diameter, it looked like disc in between balls, but upon closer observation I can't feel any. Though there is one at the top of the balls and one at the bottom of the balls.

  • Evening all, I need to get use to Frans frog's being gone, Gail I think we need some Oreo's and milk(G). Boy it has been a busy day hasn't it.

I don't think we should open this up to the search engines, but rather personally invite people we know who are interested in glass and always like learning. Also I see nothing wrong with discussing Ebay things as a good group of us still sell there and one good thing about this board is we can post a link to ask a question about an item, if we don't have our cameras charged or whatever.

@Carl - Congrats to your GD in making states, didn't they make it last year also? Or is this old mine just remembering wrong.

@Julie - Your pub looks like lots of fun, I would love to visit Australia some day, but I haven't hit that darn lottery yet(LOL)Hope you have lots of fun with your friends.

@reen, Julie, and NancyJean - Your friends will be in our prayers.

  • Hi All,

@Fran - I love your costumes, your hubby is a good sport. Mine would wear it also, gotta love a man with a good sense of humor. I still haven't decided what to be yet, FIL NH has a costume party, this year he is going to be cookie monster because all he wants is cookies.

@Gail - Nothing wrong with your booths, actually the fussy prissy ones to me scream out you want to much for your stuff, and usually I only give a quick glance(I know stereo typing). I love booths that have no rhyme or reason because it makes me want to search through them more, plus they are more inviting. Hope your feeling Better

@MM - Just a thought have you checked Duncan Miller for the hobnail piece?

@ Julie - The pieces you bought for the naming ceremony are very pretty, are you going to save them for Miss P for later on in life afterwards? I also think that EBay did mess with the purple wire again. Had a heck of a time signing onto the regular P&G Board over there.

@Leah - Your shaker is very pretty, there is also a similar Atomizer. It is on the cover of the book below and on page 99 It reads Glass Atomizer Base 6 1/4",clear glass with hand-painted enamel scene, Middle Eastern Desert Oasis with palm trees with camel and Man done in black silhouette Silvertone metal top $145.00 - $150.00

@jimD - Nice to be that close to the Corning Museum, that is one of my places I want to visit, wish I liked glass when I lived in Rome NY, would of made for a short commute.

Nothing Fantastic, but enough to make money πŸ™‚ Now to get the hang of this board, it has replaced the ebay link at the first spot on my toolbar

  • To log on to chat, I had to log off ebay, Resign in then hit shellys link right away before it took me to My Ebay. Wonder how long before they figure that the chat is still there sort of(LOL)...

  • Hi All - thanks for the welcome, it is very similar to ebay other then you have pictures next to names, and we should never get pink slapped(LOL)........

@Shari - That is so nice that you were able to meet another love after your husband passed. And what is great you both like doing this. What is even sad around here is you have people with college degrees competing for jobs that would of went to HS Graduates πŸ™ It sure is a mess.

  • Hi All,

Finally made it after a bunch of computer problems and having to upgrade everything. I was perfectly happy with my old 2004 set up. Not liking all the new and improved things. Give me back my old programs.......... Well off to explore this new board,

    Bear πŸ™‚
