• Hi everyone....been a spell since I last visited here...hope all are doing fine!!!
Carl (Carma 48) isn't Sue Aguiar your sister and isn't she the "King's Crown" queen? Would like to ask her a question but it's been a long time since I've seen her on the computer....

  • Hi Marson.......thank goodness, not cake plates at the auction....lol...Buddy and Sweetie doing fine. Happy Birthday Fran!!!!

  • Jim, I'm not going to the auction but will watch it on Liveauctioneers....have been approved to bid just in case I see something I can't live without...lol....but looked at all the pictures for today and not too impressed but I know so little about carnival glass...Need Carma48 to be there with me telling me what's good and what's not so good...lol

  • kinda cool in the Bluegrass state this morning. There's an auction within 40 miles of me that will be selling over 2900 pcs of carnival glass today, tomorrow and Saturday....wish I knew more about carnival glass....what's good and what's not so good....I did look at the pictures for today and can send a link if anyone is interested....Hope everyone has a great day

  • thanks so much Carl for the info....I've passed it on to others who didn't seem to understand that funeral vases MUST have a certain size base....Thanks!!

  • good morning everyone....been a bit since I've last posted here but always keep everyone in mind. Have a quick question for Carl Burns....to be called a "funeral vase" what size must the base be? Hope my question makes sense...

  • Hi everyone....hope those will snow/cold weather are doing ok....."if winter comes, can spring be far behind?" Been really cold in Ky the past few days.....Does anyone remember a guy on the old glass board by the name (I think) of Paul.....used to maybe go by red dog antiques? I thought I had him in my contacts but can't remember his name....old age, I guess...Thanks

  • Today has been just terrible not being able to get on Facebook to look at all the pretty glassware, etc. And of course I belong to several different groups including the EAPG....hope my friends there won't think I've deserted them.... I'M hoping maybe that someone will have a phone # where I can call and maybe get back online with Facebook....don't know if my account was hacked or what.....has made me a nervous wreck all day not being able to use FB....

  • well, it looks like my Facebook account has been locked and I cannot sign in!!!! Have tried all day to get it correct but of course you can't talk with a human.....does anyone have a LEGIT phone number for Facebook where I could actually talk with someone? Thanks

  • any computer experts around? I have two keys (S D) that will not work on my laptop......so I plugged in another keyboard and it works.......but so does the original keyboard except for the S D...... should they both work I thought when you plugged in another keyboard it would override the original keyboard....(a computer dummy here!!!)

  • for those of you who remember "BIN"......here's part of a post I posted on a facebook page.....thought some of you might like to know the outcome...."and for those who know BIN, my donkey, he has found a new home.......I had a hinny (mix between Female Donkey and Male horse) that was wild and I couldn't catch her....and she's been with BIN for nearly 10 years.....so I found someone who really wanted her......So they came this morning, got her and absolutely feel in love with BIN and wanted to know what I wanted for him.....I replied , "Oh, you don't have enough money to buy him, BUT he can be yours for free if you promise me you'll give him a good home"....which I felt confident they would....as they came to my barn in an extremely nice horse trailer and very fancy truck which told me something...ha. As most of you know about 2 months ago, I went thru a terrible ordeal with BIN as he couldn't get up and I was about to have him put down.....keep him in the barn for about 6 weeks before he could finally get up on his own....Now he's doing great and I just didn't want to maybe have to go thru something like that again...Of course I shed a few tears but happy in my heart that they both have gone somewhere where they'll be properly cared for, etc....(gee, sorry for such a long post)"

  • Yes, Katie he was foundered before I got him several years ago....and I believe that's the problem with him now....but don't know for sure.....

  • thanks for the comments about battery in my laptop.....after reading those posts, I won't worry about it.....Still making arrangements for my BIN.....but looks like it might be next week before I can actually have him put to sleep......the guy who's to dig the burial site is out of town for the nexxt few days so I'm doing what I can to make BIN as comfortable as possible.....don't think he's in too much pain until he tries to get up and walk....

Jerseystar/NancyP....I still have that Fostoria Silver Mist Penguin....

Hope everyone has a fun-filled day.....

  • thanks, George.....guess I'm just a "worry wart" and don't like it when things change on the computer....lol.....take a first grader, they wouldn't be a bit concerned about it but would go on like nothing ever happened...lol....guess I was born too early for these machines....ha

  • I might add I very seldom use the computer when it's not plugged in....

  • good morning....hope everyone has a great day.....don't laugh but I have a laptop and know so little about it.....It does have a battery.....my question: is the battery just for use when you don't have the computer plugged up? There's an icon on the lower corner on my screen of a battery.....when I click on that it says 98% available, plugged in NOT charging........now I'm wondering what's going to happen if it's not charging.....Any computer whizzes here????? Thanks

  • Hi everyone....I'm almost ashamed to post as I've not visited the site for several days....just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the days to get everything done.......think of this group often and hope all is well. I'm having a difficult decision deciding what to do with BIN.......he's been penned in the barn for a week as he can barely walk so I may have to have the Vet put him down....yes, it's a difficult decision but I just can't bear to see him in so much pain when he does get up and tries to walk....I "kinda" wish he would just go to sleep and not wake up but don't believe that will happen as he's not sick.....well, that enough of my troubles......

  • I knew as soon as I clicked on the link that it didn't come from you!!! Got an email a few days ago and the name of the sender is deceased......so something is going on.....ha

  • good morning all.......little chilly in the bluegrass state but nothing like others are having.....think it's 10 here this morning.....

@donscns I received an email stating from you and it just said "Hi" and then a link....I clicked on the link and got a warning about a virus.....so thought I'd let you know....now sure what's happening......

Hope everyone has a great day...stay warm or cool as the case may be....ha

  • Hi George....isn't working with the IRS fun......they want our money but they don't want to send out forms.....ha

  • Thanks JimL for the tax advice...you can send me a bill...not saying I'll pay it tho...lol. I usually do my own taxes and I'll have to look into the de minimis thing....but may just go ahead and call the furnace a repair and forget it...they can't do any more than catch me if I'm wrong...ha...May never get my taxes done this year and the IRS just hates to send out their forms...they want you to go online and use your expensive ink to print THEIR forms!!!! and I just refuse to do that and so far, IRS has not send me any forms at all even tho I've called twice.....oh, will just hold on to my money a little bit longer....buy more glassware...NOT....ha

  • good morning....hope everyone has a great day.

@Dorbitz/JimL.....thanks for the info.....just doesn't seem fair......back when I first purchased this piece of property I might have saved $150 in taxes per year ($1000 deprec. @ 15% tax rate) now that I'll have to recapture it at the 25% rate, looks like I would have been better off not to even take deprec. BUT, the IRS says deprecation taken OR what you were entitled to take even if you didn't take it!! And I really don't want to purchase another property as I'm trying to downsize not only junk glassware but some rental houses.....was hoping to sell a house or two on installment sales but that doesn't look like it would help me at all.. Just like I had to have a new furnace put in another rental (cost $2200) and I have to set that up on depreciation!!!!! what a joke......lol

@donsons...Don may have to sell ALL the glassware just to pay the taxes.....but there's a problme them. no one wants my junky glassware....

  • good morning everyone.......and thanks Shelly for telling me how to find previous posts.....didn't know that. Wasn't able to find it that way but I think it was probably because I had deleted the pictures. But I found out that the vases I was asking about are the two Imperial Tricorn ones that I have. From Doty's site it seems only made in two colors.....mine are a purplish color.

@Dorbitz/JimL how in the world does a man get around so much income tax? I was going to sell a rental property but because it had fully depreciated I can't afford to sell it because of the capital gains!!!! Even if I sold on installment basis, that won't work either as from what I read, all recaptured depreciation is reported in the year of sale regardless of how much money you received the first year.....Even looked at "like exchange" and that looks quite complicated...lol....why can't they make it simple????

Hope everyone has a GREAT day.....

  • oops. I've forgotten how to post pictures here....posting images is so easy on Facebook that I have forgoten how to post here

  • good morning everyone....hope everyone has a great day. Hope Mr Burns is around....he ided these vases for me sometime ago but I lost that info when my computer crashed 2 or 3 years ago and just now getting around to these vases again. Thanks for any info.

  • Good morning everyone....been awhile since I stopped by ......guess I just spend too much time on the Facebook pages!!! Trying to downsize but not having much luck selling on Facebook.....and I quit Ebay a long time ago....so guess I'm stuck with my "stuff"...lol. Hope everyone is doing great and getting ready for the holiday season.....Enjoy the day.....an absolutely gorgeous one here in the Bluegrass State!!!

  • Good Morning glass friends.....just wanted to stop by and say hello......been a while since I've posted but think of the group quite often.......Seems most of my computer time is spent on Facebook with a lot of other glass groups.....Hope all is well....Enjoy the day....

  • good morning, glass friends....."if winter comes, can spring be far behind"....lol....we had an absolutely gorgeous day Monday (near 70 degrees!!!) and today feels like snow...ha...

  • thanks Jim....but I don't want to waste my ink printing IRS forms....lol....they should be required to send them within so many days if they expect me to have my taxes done in so many days!!! Sometimes I think about just sending them a check and sayings "this is what I think I owe...when you send me the forms, I'll complete them..." lol......Look out jail here I come...ha

  • Good morning, everyone...just wanted to stop in and say hi....seems I don't get here much anymore as a lot of my time is spent on various groups on Facebook.... The Bluegrass State had between 8 - 14" of snow yesterday....think my area had about 8" and it's cold this a.m.....zero....but I'm not complaining after seeing what those people up east have had to endure. Hope everyone has a great day... (Oh, Dorbitz/JimL, I don't envy you doing taxes....I used to do about 100 but retired from that about 20 years ago!!! And today I can hardly do my own taxes....can't seem to get the IRS to send me necessary forms!!!! Makes me so mad...ordered than the first of Jan. still no forms!!!

  • Good morning glass friends...hope everyone has a great day. Sending best wishes to Gail as she travels to Tulsa....and sorry I've missed so many birthdays so here 's a big birthday wish for all those I missed...

  • just checking in.....and want to wish Gail a speedy recovery....she's just too nice to have anything wrong with her!!!!! Hope everyone else is doing ok and has a great day!!!

  • Good morning everyone....hope everyone is enjoying the holidays......just wanted you to know that my babies, Sweetie and Buddie, got home yesterday!!!!! So needless to saw I was a very, very happy person....I love my dogs and I believe they love me as I love them from the way they acted when they first got in the house yesterday....ha. Hope everyone has a GREAT day....Life is GOOD!!

  • Christmas is here and 2014 is about to come to a close to make room for 2015. I find myself reflecting on who I am, where I am, and the life I have. There are so many less fortunate and have less; so many who are burdened with troubles; and so many who are alone during the holiday season. With a caring/loving family, I truly am blessed!! While recovering from a broken ankle, I found this on the computer (author unknown) and decided it would be my New Year’s wish for everyone!!!

“May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them. May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, may the commercials on TV not be louder than the program you have been watching, and may your check book and your budget balance - and include generous amounts for charity.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdresser or your tennis instructor.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart. “

Wishing you the very best in 2015!!

  • good morning glass friends.......Dorbitz/JimL.......LOL.....that video clip just about says it all and you are right.....didn't realize it at the time but my dogs were doing the Salsa.....lol....thanks for sharing.....what a great way to start the day!!!

  • Good morning glass friends. Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. Also want to wish "get well wishes" to all who are having health problems....thank goodness, my progress is coming along quite nicely....past couple days have been putting most all my weight on that bad ankle. Life is GREAT!!

  • Hi Glass friends.....Happy!!!! happy!!!!!! happy!!!!!! what a wonderful "family" reunion today with.Sweetie and Buddie......it was just unreal and I about cried my eyes out with joy. I do believe it was one of the most emotional days of my life--me standing inside the kennel with my walker and both fur babies trying so desperately hard to jump up to "kiss" me and yes, it was sad to leave them behind knowing how much they enjoyed seeing me......but they will soon be home again.....Let me tell you......that little visit has done more for my "recovery" than everything else put together.........and thanks for all the well wishes.....

  • Good morning Glass friends!!! Been quite some time since I last posted but have read the board a few times within the past couple months. Breaking an ankle certainly is no fun and it's kept me pretty much confined to a wheel chair. But yesterday with the aid of the therapist I tried walking and putting a little weight on that foot....yikes......that hurts!!! But in ddue time I'll be back to normal.....depression is no fun but I blame that on the strong medications I've been on.....but off those now. I guess being an "ole 71 year old man", living alone for his entire adult life and losing ALL independence, is enough to give one a hard time. Spent 3 weeks in a skilled nursing facility and then released to come home to live in one room since I cannot do steps yet.. So we had to set up a microwave and little dorm refrig.in the room where I've been living. Family and friends have packed in food, etc....and I'm so thankful. And also have my wheel chair, walker, bedside commode; so what more could I ask for unless some beautiful glassware....ha....If weather permits, we're planning on going to the Kennel to see Sweetie and Buddie, my dogs......sure do miss them as I've not seen them for almost 2 months!!!! Will be diffucult to leave them there but won't be able to bring them home for a few more weeks.....but time heals everything. Thanks to all who sent well wishes, etc. Sorry, kinda got carried away. Also looking forward to a nice hot shower within the next few days.....sponge bathes just don't do it....ha Hope everyone has a super holiday season!!

  • (will post in several facebook pages, so if you've already seen this, just pass it by. )
Hello everyone.......for those of you who don't know, my dogs tripped me causing me to fall and as a result ended up with a broken ankle......This happened Oct 19 so my posting on the computer have been few and far between. Been at the Ohio Valley Manor Rehabilitation center since the later part of Oct but will be going home tomorrow.....not because I'm ready but because the Health Insurance is having me kicked out!!!Still cannot put any weight on the one ankle so it's going to be a rough haul living alone and living in a house with several stairs.....so guess I'll be living basically in one room and will have home heath services stop in 2 or 3 times a week.Kitchen is on the second level (up 8 stairs) so that will be off limits....bedrooms up another flight of stairs so that level will be off limits too. My plans are to move a small microwave oven down to the TV room as well as a dorm size refrig.....sleeping will be on the couch.....I'll have my computer in the room too so what more can a man ask for? lol....Hope all my glass friends have been posting lots of goodies that they have been finding.....Bob in KY P.S. to make this glass/pottery related, I've not seen any pretty glass pcs. on the food tray.....ha

  • Good morning DON, CARMA48, SHELLY, and others who come in later....hope everyone has a great day, especially GAIL who has worked so hard on the EAPG project!!
Shelly, how do you remember all the names of people here.....I can only remember 2 or three at a time...ha...
Carma48, sure not having any luck finding info on the Northwood Green Alaska tumbler....had a collector tell me he had talked with a N/W person and he had only seen 3 of the green tumblers in his 17 years..... I really like the cranberry tumbler I posted here but don't have much info on it either....

  • Hi again everyone....been another hot one in the Bluegrass State but I'm not complaining after the "ruff" winter we had!! RAREFARE1, thanks for the comments on the cranberry tumbler.....have someone wanting to purchase it but would like to know more about it before I let it go....might be a $1 tumbler or could be a $100, who knows in today's market...lol

  • Irene, which tumbler are you referring to? I honestly don't think either is modern....the green one is Northwood, Alaska, I believe.....just don't know for sure about the cranberry one.....kinds reminds me of something similar Webb or Moser would do....but, what do I know...ha

  • thanks, Fenton.....was able to find a few nice tumblers recently but this is the one I believe will "fetch" the most money...wish I could find some comparables but so far haven't been able to find any....Thanks for the compliment on the cranberry one...I like it but it will find a new home, too...
    another tumbler

  • good morning all; hope everyone has a great day. I'm trying to identify this tumbler but sure haven't had any luck so far....so if you have any info or clues, I'd certainly appreciate it....thanks.....Bob in KY
    tumbler

  • thanks Carma48.....have someone wanting to purchase it and I don't have a clue as to how to price it....since the person wanting to purchase it is a collector of that pattern, may just let them set the price....did look on internet for prices but found nothing...

  • good morning everyone....hope everyone will have a safe and happy 4th!!
CARMA48, found a green Northwood Alaska tumbler with enamel decorations. Is the green hard to find in that pattern? first time I've seen one.....thanks...

  • Hi glass friends.....we finally got a nice soaking rain last night....so the crops should jump now. I found a nice Dugan Four Flower bowl with Soda Gold backing and was so surprised to see the value on Doty's site.....a beautiful bowl and the value he shows is almost nothing!!! So guess it's a keeper...

  • GM!! Don, another excellent reason for not dusting contents in a cabinet!!!!! lol....

Gail, I can certainly relate to you having a variety of "stuff"....I just recently told someone I had finally figured out my problem....I like too many things....ha...

  • good morning, glass friends......had fun yesterday at a large antique shops......pretty pricey stuff especially a butter dish, a sugar, and master berry bowl in the Northwood Chrysanthemum Sprig Blue....$650....EACH!!!!!! don't see how in the world it could ever bring that kind of money in today's market.... or am I way off base???

  • Carma48 or anyone else.....I think I found this pattern as Imperial's Heavy Grape....I read that this pattern is a rare variant without quilting.....so would this bowl be considered rare? thanks... bowl

  • Thanks Carma48 for the msg.....went back to the shop today and got that Dugan piece for $35....they gave me a 25% discount...so I was very pleased....and I really like the vase...

  • Thanks, Carma48....appreciate your help!!

  • good morning glass friends....been a few days since I've posted but always try to read the board regularly......saw this piece in a shop yesterday and the tag said Loetz; but don't believe that is correct....seems Carma48 posted something about Dugan's glass and this looks like it.....is it Dugan and worth the $45? I didn't purchase it as I wanted to check it out first....

  • Just read the board and sitting here laughing at JimD, Carl's and Reen's post.....lol.....

  • Fenton, story of my life...always wrong color...lol...but I only paid $5 for it so can't be hurt too badly...ha...

  • Way to GO!!!!!! Bob!!!!!!.......

  • Thanks, Marson!! two good sites...I've bookmarked them....and will send them to my friend...but based on what I read, I do believe my friend has a good piece and not a reproduction.....hope so!!

  • Hi everyone.....I have a friend who has a vase signed Le Verre Français that was made by Schneider. They asked me if I knew anything about it especially if it were real or a reproduction. of course I know nothing about art glass. Can anyone tell me what to look for? Thanks...

  • just wanted to get it out of my system early...lol.....someone will be happy but I assure you it won't be me.....will take more than I can handle!!!!!

  • Hi Bill, long time, no see.....love that butter dish....but sure don't need it!!!! but it's fun to bid....make someone else dig a little deeper in pockets...lol.....

  • Bob, well, I can at least say I got the first bid in....lol....

  • Bob, just checked with BIN and he gave me permission to go as high as $14.99....no more, tho, as he's afraid I'll spend his feed money...lol....Good luck with the butter dish...I'm sure it will do quite well!!!

  • Happy Easter everyone....
BOB, will you accept payment by check or MO? should I win your butter dish for $12.99? lol.....seriously, do you accept payments other than Paypal? and what's your seller name on Ebay....Thanks.....Bob in KY

  • Good morning glass friends....hope everyone has a great day. And GAIL, thanks so much for all the work you are doing on EAPG Facebook page!!! You are to be commended.....that's a very interesting project and some of the pictures are just out of this world!!! Bob in KY

  • Hi Glass people!!! Hope everyone is having a great day.......
FENTON, always tell people who say money is tight to go to an auction...lol....did you see the Fenton "Pink" Epergne sell? I have one just like it...can't remember what it's called.

  • Thanks,George.....so if the buyer is not pleased with his purchase, he can have his money refunded? This sale was not thru Ebay.....but the only way he could pay wa sthru paypal...like I said before I don't want to cause my friend any trouble with his Paypal account.....how long should I leave the money in their account?

  • I might add it was a sizeable sale ($1298) and the piece has damaged....But I informed the buyer of the damage, sent several pics of the damage, etc....but I kinda feel uneasy about the transaction.....don't want to cause any kind of hassle with my friend's paypal account....

  • Hi Glassies....hope everyones had a nice day.....I just recently sold something privately and the purchaser paid me thru paypal and sent it to a friend's paypal account as I don't have paypal. Should the purchaser not be happy with his purchase, can paypal demand that I refund his money? I know nothing about paypal....Bob in Ky

  • Thanks, Julie......will Paypal convert it to US Dollars or will the person who's paypal account it went to have to do the converting? confusing to me...lol

  • Hi Glassies....not a paypal user here so don't know a thing about paypal. But I sold an item and a friend let me have the money go to their paypal account. The buyer sent Euros....will Paypal convert that to US Dollars? hope that makes sense...Bob in KY

  • Hi glass friends....just read about insurance claims. I recently filed a US Postal Online claim seeking $95 (cost to replace the item) and wanted the check sent to the purchaser....purchaser received the check but it as for only $50 and I had insured the pkg. for $120!!! Don't know what's going on there, but someone I fear thinks it was insured for the free $50 insurance even thought I supplied ins. #, etc.....so I've filed an appeal...don't have any idea how long that will take... Bob in KY

  • Hi Glass friends...hope all is well with everyone....

SHELLY, I certainly know how painful kidney stones can be as I've sure had my share of them.....first one I ever had was way back in 1976 and never will forgot one of the get well cards I received.....nice card and the sender had written" better to have rocks where you have them than rocks in your head." I laughed so much at that as the sender was always a good friend and always saying funny things....so to you I'll say, "better to have rocks where you have them than rocks in your head." Take care!! Bob in KY

  • Hi Everyone....been a few days since I've posted...always try to check in; but lots of time don't have much to contribute .....saw Julia's post about the bridge and then saw Reen's post about Oprah.....does everyone who climbs that bridge have to wear a certain outfit? seems all are dressed alike....lol....

  • Good morning Glassies.....blizzard conditions yesterday but looks much better today....temps to reach 30s!!!!!
