• Thank you all for the birthday wishes ! My birthday present starts tomorrow - 3 weeks in Florida visiting relatives (some whom I haven't seen in 15 years).

  • @carma Carl - Thank you very much for the Imperial ID on FaceBook. I knew that it was an Imperial tumbler from the mid-Century group but could not remember which one. I erased all my local references to the Imperial lines recently & think I had better recover from "Archive".
    Again - TYVM !

  • Hello again - just changed avatar to reflect pic of the Boss & me - taken @ The Mirage Casino - Secret Gardens of Siegfried & Roy last week in Las Vegas. Vacation trip to visit family & attend niece's wedding.

  • Morning all -
Chilly morning here in Akron. 36 degrees on backyard thermometer. Too early for this chill !!
Been keeping busy cleaning & IDing several boxes of pink depression/mid-century glass (Hocking Princess & Mayfair, Jeannette Windsor Diamond), punch bowl sets (Hocking) , unknown crystal glassware (footed sherbets, water tumblers & sundae glasses), unique black melamine dishes (Branchell - LaMoyne design/signed) and two boxes of china (Sone' - Japan, maple leaf platinum design) that was given to the wife & I by her cousin (who owns a storage unit business).
I have had no luck on the IDs of the clear glass footed items so will post pics here later today after I modify the pictures to cut down to size (640X480 pixels) - my camera is set to 3072X2304 pixels for high definition.
    Later !

  • Good morning Glassies !!!! LTNS on my part !

Wife & I have been extremely busy this Summer & for the most part, my computer social time has been spent on FaceBook & their glass groups. I do have to laugh though at the job FB does on "losing" pictures & posts

Carl - your problem on Sellers cancelling sales also has a flip side: Buyers in the last 6 months have had the audacity to cancel their purchases & admit that they found the item cheaper either on eBay or other online venues. Oh, then there are the ones who buy & when they receive the item, open a "Not as described" case against you. They return (after refund) an item that is not what you shipped them.

  • Thank you one & all for the B'day wishes !!!!
I don't much time here anymore - mostly lurking. FB groups keep me busy plus Summertime @ the camper. Never ending work there.
Gail - Salute to you on the work you are doing on the EAPGS FaceBook page. Fantastic job !!!

  • @ohiostar Fenton - but those are my backyard hangouts ! Seriously, it was a Barberton establishment. Everything is back to normal for me, healthwise ! Just waiting for warmer weather so we can open the camper up in 17 days.

  • @fran2 You have the option to print out the eBay item number on the label. There is a check box on the selection screen that asks if you want the item # on the label.

  • Hello All - I give up ! Health wise, that is ! Two weeks ago in hospital for possible angina - overnight stay with testing next day: results - esophageal spasms (which mimic a heart attack) - WHEW !! Then last Wednesday took BH out to dinner - 2 hours later, in ER again, severe stomach pain - resulting from food poisoning. Last time we go to that restaurant. Then Saturday we went to a local auction looking for nautical decorations for the camper. No luck but in the evening again with the stomach pain - this time it was a localized virus that is circulating here in the area. Can't win for losing ! Thank God for Medicare Supplemental insurance.
Mickey(cat) is doing better - he won't play anymore & wants held & cuddled a lot. Definitely looks like sight in one eye may be gone. He acts like a senior cat - not the one year old that he is. Vet said that he may have taken a fall or hit his head while romping with the dog. He won't run tests unless cat shows signs of distress - too costly.

Carl - keeping fingers crossed on the storm.

Shelly - also praying for you !!!

  • Shelly - @shellyrae37 : Thankfully, storm is pushing way South of us here in Akron.

Sorry I haven't been here very much lately. I have been tending to a sick kitten. We didn't know if it was a virus or possibly a traumatic blow(from him racing around the house chasing & being chased by the dog) but he was off his feed for about 4 days with one eye clouding up, the sclera(inner eyelid) partially closed. He seems to be recovering but it is almost like he has aged a couple of years - no chasing, playing with toys, dog baiting etc. The Vet says "no virus - probably a knock on the head from jumping/falling off a table" and to just watch him & if he gets worse then he'll get into more serious diagnosis such as Xrays, etc.

  • Carl - WOW !!!! Impressive job on all the BAR stock & overall layout. I remember as a pre-teen helping my Uncle who was a paraplegic work on his attic layout (30 X 60), on handmade tables with the only access to reset trains, etc. was by a mechanic's creeper. He had over 300 pieces of rolling stock that was immaculate - all Lionel purchased during the late 40s & 50s, which he kept in the original boxes when not on the layout. He was hospitalized while I was in the service & the family sold everything, lock, stock & layouts for a song. I remember Mom telling me that they cut up the layout with a chain saw to get it out of the attic.
Keep posting pics of the layout - brings back memories !!!!

  • Fran2 - Tx for the link !!! Mine are pieces from Imperial Line # 715 (Double Scroll) with floral cut in Rose Marie pink. 4 short candlesticks + an oval center bowl
I am now in a quandary as how to present these 5 pieces. I am leaning toward setting up 2 listings, 1 for the bowl & 2 candlesticks selling as a console table set and then the other pair of candlesticks separate.

Katie - I love Imperial's pink pieces. I have found several that sold immediately.

  • Here are the goodies from this week end's tag sale:
I have no idea who made it, when or what pattern. It just was a gorgeous set for the price. 4 candle holders & the console bowl (?). The color reminds me of Imperial Rose & the shape of the bowl looks similar to an Imperial Candy that I sold.

Here is the WOW factor - Fostoria Seascape footed Salver in Opalescent Blue (with 2 C&S trays)
    http://tinypic.com/r/3136kq9/5 http://tinypic.com/r/1z4lw8j/5

  • Shelly/Julie - FYI: I got the Seascape salver for $25 + the 2 C&S trays that match for $5 more. I left "end-of-sale" bids on them plus a WAB on two sets of gorgeous pink candle holders that were displayed upside down with a matching console bowl (5 pieces of perfect glass). I don't know the who, what, when on the "pinks" - I just fell in love with them. For the price of the pinks, I can't go wrong. I go back tomorrow afternoon to pick all 8 pieces of glass up.
I have only seen one salver in Opalescent Blue for sale on the net & it went for the $255 on eBay. Seascape is not listed that often from what I have seen.

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - RE: Arctic Vortex - yes, the "Global warming" people have to come up with new words to explain their foolishness. Notice that they don't have an explanation why their sojourn to the South Pole got interupted by being locked in ice.
BTW - BH has taught the dog how come & bark @ me when I'm on the computer for too long. I get an earful about twice a day now while BH is @ work.

  • @carma Carl (or anyone else familiar with Fostoria Glass):
I may have a chance to buy a Seascape 12" salver in Opalescent Blue (Caribee blue ?) for less than $30. Is it worth the effort & expense for resale? BV is ~$130 (I think) & one just sold on eBay for $255.

  • Carl - I agree !!! BUT there are "old school" administrators that walked 10 miles to school in waist deep snow uphill both directions. Here in Akron, BOE says "if wind chill is below zero - no school in entire city". I think also that if air temp is below 10 degrees, they cancel. Most of the kids in Akron walk - few buses run except for Elementary & Middle students who are transported because of "population shifts" or lack of nearby facilities.
Currently at +10 with wind chill @ -5 expecting warm up tomorrow to 30. Arctic air coming in Sunday night & Monday. EVERYBODY keep warm !!!!

  • Happy New Year from Akron. Here is a pic of Scarlett after her 1st romp in the new snow - 2014. Usually she is snow clear passed her ears.
    http://i39.tinypic.com/2ex9dok.jpg

  • @ohiostar Don't even check GW on Waterloo anymore - I was told all their glass gets scanned by a Supervisor who collects Depression glass. I will drop in maybe once a month. I usually hit VDO just up the street weekly.

  • Shelly @shellyrae37 : RE: Hyundai parts - Check AutoZone and/or NAPA dealers. They both should have the air filters. BH drives an Elantra with the crazy front wipers (28" driver side - 14" passenger) & she(I) can't find the short wipers in most parts stores. ANCO wipers should cover all Hyundai wipers & they come with conversions to fit and/or adapt to most wiper arms.

  • Hi Shelly - yes, GS has a lot of outside support from educators, coaches & relatives. BUT he is a very mature young man who has his priorities straight (I think). He is dead set on getting his PA degree so I encourage him whenever possible.

  • Gail @songbreeze - I remember growing up, I was close to my older cousins but not like these four. The oldest two make it a point to contact the youngest two often even though there is approx. 40 miles separating them. When they get together in a combined family gathering, you need a crowbar to separate them. Really cute to see !!!

  • Carl @carma - Congrats on a very good looking GD. My GS graduates in the Spring so will be looking forward to all the festivities. He is in preparation for college @ Mount Union here in Ohio with his aim to become a Physician's Assistant.
Hopefully, he will be able to continue his efforts in baseball but has admitted that study & coursework is more important. He has been offered a couple of BB scholarships @ other schools but, right now, an academic @ the Mount is more valuable to him.

  • Glassies - Happy Morning After !

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS to one & ALL !!! (I know it's not proper to use caps but I'm shouting this out !!!)

  • @carma Carl - Thanks again ! I looked over all the references that I have access to on the IG Cobalt & decided that I would pass on most of them. I did break down & picked up a toothpick holder (3 swan in Cobalt) that I couldn't resist. Price was only $3. Was totally intrigued by the several pieces of Fenton that were for sale in lime green, jade yellow & a light blue satin. ALL pieces were marked or had labels. Prices were higher & they said come today for 1/2 price or negotiate. Amazingly though, most of the better looking pieces looked like they had been stored in a mud pit & then wiped off - not washed.
Hope you can stay warm - temp here is 26 & we didn't get the forecasted snow the predicted. Only got about an inch - forecast was 4"- 6".

  • @carma Carl - thank you for the response on FaceBook Imperial group. I was curious about the Cobalt pieces & a couple of the iridized cobalt that they had. My "real" desire was several pieces of Fenton satin finish in Blue satin, jade yellow, and lime sherbet. Most looked like they had just been dug out of a mud pit. They had several pieces that I might go back for tomorrow (1/2 price & negotiable beyong that).

  • @ohiostar Fenton - I was raised in NE Ohio. We had snow drifts around the farm that were at least 20 foot high. One side of neighbor's house was buried up above the eaves with the blowing snow. We had to tunnel from the farmhouse to the barn to milk the cows. There were 6 truck drivers stranded within a mile of the farm so we had visitors for a week. Dad worked part-time for the township & drove the half-track plow home the night before Thanksgiving. Still had to wait for the National Guard to bring in tanks rigged with plows to clear Route 46 - main artery from Ashtabula to Warren.

  • Morning Glassies - sitting here at the puter watching furkids play & having last of the morning coffee. Just realized that my 2 furballs are mixed up: Mickey(cat) carries toys around in his mouth, hides them from dog & follows us around wanting petted. Scarlett(dog) pounces on toys, bats them & holds them with her paws. Hasn't started to "Purr" yet - just "talks" to cat when she wants to play or "tattle" when kitten does something wrong like climbing on desk, etc.

They are hilarious when both want to cuddle - I usually get the brunt of a two-pronged attack with the dog in my lap wanting petted & the kitten either on my chest or on a shoulder patting my face wanting petted.

  • Happy Black Friday Glassies -
Here is a short video of Scarlett & Mickey during one of their more gentile playsets. Usually, it is rock & roll, bark & meow, I bite you - you bite me until one or both get tuckered out. Then they literally collapse in each other's arms(forelegs). Sorry about being sideways - I forgot that I cannot rotate a video like I can a picture.

    http://tinypic.com/r/v2zhae/5

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - My aunt was the only female in the lineage. She passed either during or shortly after childbirth. Dad never spoke about his sister. Her married name I believe was Maines - Ashtabula County, Ohio.

@reen reen - I'm getting just about all the dog vs. cat videos on FaceBook. Mickey "the new kid" has found out he can bully the Cavalier & usually chases her off the pillows. This morning, he found out that the dog's crate has a fleece pad in it & he wants to play in it until she objects. She even talks the cat into chasing her to get him out of the crate.

  • From the "four" of us @ the Miller household - Happy Thanksgiving

    http://i44.tinypic.com/15efpsi.jpg

  • Good morning Glassies -
I have been sidetracked lately & haven't spent a lot of time on my glass inventory - mostly on FaceBook & trying to generate sales.
We "adopted" a new furkid to keep our Cavalier busy last Sunday. He is a 4 month old Tuxedo that is small in size but large in attitude. He took to the dog like they were long lost buds within 30 minutes of splash down in the house. They rock & roll all over the house & then crash in a big pile on top of each other to "rest" and clean each other.
RE: Lucy - I remember long chats with her away from the eBay Glass Chatboard. She was an amazing lady who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Loved how she could silence the "know-it-alls" & "thought they knew it alls".

    http://i39.tinypic.com/dq0ks9.jpg

  • Ooops - "herd of deer" not "hard of deer".

  • @itsagas Bill - I remember as a kid back on the farm standing with my Dad counting a hard of deer that was crossing the road by the treeline south of our house. 2 huge stags stood on either side of the road as the younger & small bucks, does & fawns crossed. It was almost as if they were daring any vehicles to interrupt the crossing. If I remember correct, Dad stopped counting at 50 & they were still coming. We had huge herds roaming the fields & woods in those days.

  • @songbreeze Gail -
Good luck with the U.S.P.S. BH & I have been fighting with the local branch since September over "Hold Mail", "Change of Address" issues plus Post Office Box. Local branch has a bunch of "temporary employees" working the counters & they have gotten my mail so screwed up. I am tired of contacting businesses & telling them that the PO Box is a "temporary address" - not permanent residence. I don't live in the PO Box.

  • Morning All -
At least 2" of snow overnight here in Akron, OH. Miss Scarlett thought it was fun to play snowplow when I let her out this morning. Crazy pup likes the snow - doesn't like the cold. Ran inside & rolled up in her blanket even before she ate.

  • @carma Carl - Do you know what company did the "Moonglo" cuttings on Heisey blanks? I have what I believe is a Lariat mayonnaise underplate with the "Moonglo" cutting that I need further info on. TYVMIA !

  • Katie - BH talked me out of it ! We were limited in space in car since we took the dog with us. Trunk was full of craft items (compliments of wife's cousin's wife) + suitcases. Backseat was Scarlett's domain with room for snack bag & cooler.

  • Hello Glassies ! LTNS !!!
Camper winterized & now back @ home after spending a frustating weekend in the Bedford, PA area. Frustrating because I saw so much nice glass at several flea markets & consignment shops - the only problem was all the shops, etc. were priced very high (GF BV & higher). I did buy a cocktail shaker - Jeannette Hellenic pattern in Corinthian Blue that matches the bar set I have.
One booth had a 65 piece lot of AH Fire-King Peach Lustre for sale for $25 - almost bit on it. Another shop had 150 pieces of Candlewick for sale - minimum tag on each piece was $10 (7" saucers).

  • Fenton - the real task is removing and/or modifying the dam @ the old Edison plant. There are thousands of yards of silt in back of that one that needs to be addressed.

  • @songbreeze Gail - Do you have more than one USB port? Windows should recognize that you have plugged a device into a USB port. If it doesn't then something is amiss with either your Windows or the USB port settings.

  • Gail - something else to try with your card(s). The contact strips get dirty so try using a pencil eraser or gum eraser to "GENTLY" wipe across the strips. Then wipe off with a lint-free cloth. You can use the same method to reseat a board/memory board if operations are sporadic.

  • Gail/Shelly - I always hook my cameras up to the computer via USB cord since I got my new USB port expansion. USB ports can be very quirky - if you can read your card directly on the computer, you are better off.
I am out at the camper - have been for last two weeks. Plan to stay until closing (Oct. 15) - no glass activity - no yard sales, estate sales, etc. Just lots of bird watching & fishing. Spotted a Belted Kingfisher this morning. Also have been watching a flock of wild turkeys near the campground. Poor little hummingbird has been frequenting the feeder by trailer window.

  • Carl - if you are looking @ Dell machines - check out the Dell Outlet online. There are tremendous deals available on new machines that have been used as demo's or returned by a Buyer. All are refurbished to meet manfacturer's spec's and come with a new factory warranty. ALSO most come loaded with software already installed (at no cost to you). The reason - software is installed & registered to a specfic CPU - once registered it cannot be transferred to another CPU (unless the owner transfers to a new machine).

I have purchased several Dell's thru the outlet & have had no problems - just saved a ton of money. The outlet offers all Dell equipment including printers, monitors, etc.

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - Yes, the gold overlay pattern is Silver City Glass's "Hampton" - the same overlay done in sterling silver is called "Flanders" or "Poppy". Usually found in conjunction with a "Happy XXth Anniversary" or "Happy Birthday". The unattached overlays are harder to find.

  • @songbreeze Gail - so wrapped up in my 3-toed beauty that I wasn't thinking things through. My comment was based on Hocking Waterford - not Waterford Crystal !!! Sorry !!!

  • Chris - Waterford only made 2 sizes of pitchers & both are ball-shaped tilt.

  • Nancyjean/Bob - TYVM !
Bob - the ridges on mine do NOT converge in the center. There is an area approx. 1" in diameter where there is no ridges or pattern - the ridges seem to fade as they approach that 1 inch area. There are NO fleur-de-lis present either.
I guess I'll have to look at the Viking Princess/Princess Plaza angle for ID.
    TX again !

  • @nona Nancyjean - What does the inside base of the 2496 7" 3-toed bowl show ? Is the floor (?) of the base plain or is there a "starburst" type design?

  • Hi All - I picked up this bowl @ a consignment shop 2 weeks ago & have been unable to tie down a true ID. I know that the overlay is Silver City's 2496B Hampton (in gold) but the blank used has eluded me & led to major discussions on FB & ChataboutDG's Forum. The bowl is 6 3/4" in diameter & stands 2 1/2" high. Various suggestions have been Lancaster, Viking & Fostoria Baroque (my choice - IMHO).

    http://i43.tinypic.com/2rhtd7p.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2hsb3vd.jpg

    http://i44.tinypic.com/ekc3o.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/5yb7zr.jpg

Does anyone have a Fostoria reference book with more detailed info on Baroque ???
    TYIA !!!

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - just sold a Frankoma #833 Honey Jar for $45. Also have a #31 Snail Vase (in green) that I am trying to get rid of. Saw a lot of Frankoma here in Northern Ohio @ flea markets.

Mostly lurking here this summer since troubles with trailer have kept me busy. Loose awning bracket, poorly sealed entrance door & last but not least furnace problems (at least insurance will cover the furnace problem) so have had little chance to spend extended time online except for quick lists on the Bay. Noticed that someone is taking "pot shots" on FaceBook at the ChataboutDG forums - saying that there are "egotists" managing the forums.

Did pick up 2 pieces of Fostoria American & 10 sets of Fire-King Golden Anniversary cups & saucers @ Lodi on Saturday. Pieces were wrapped in 1956 Clevealnd Plain Dealer in original shipping box from The Higbee Company in Cleveland posmarked 1956.

  • @songbreeze Gail - WOW ! Believe it or not, I had NO pain after my heart attack & stent implants. I was only in the hospital for 4 days - if they didn't have to wait to put in the second stent, I probably would have been out in 2 days. The only problem I had was after the second stent, I got the dry heaves after eating & opened the incision site in my groin. Never knew that nurses could move that fast - still wound up being black & blue from armpit to knee cap on my right side clear past my belly button. Took me over a month to clear up.

George - Sir Cough-A-Lot was a gimmick they used to keep heart patients' lungs clear.

  • Katie - YES - the smell of fresh hay is a real memory ! Grew up on a farm & remember playing in the mow on loose hay (before Dad started baling) until I got stuck in a cat tunnel. The barn cats would dig tunnels in the loose stuff to have their kittens & it was my job to find the litters before the kittens went wild. At one time, Dad had over 3 dozen cats(& kittens) in the barn. It was hilarious @ milking time watching the cats beg for milk that Dad would spray them with when he "stripped" the milkers. Dad worked @ the Farm Buruea feed store & brought home busted bags of cat food so kitties never went hungry.
Gail - glad to see you back after the stent implants. Not a fun procedure but far better than the alternative. Just relax for a couple of days !

  • Shelly - thanks for the link but I am positive that all pieces are Candlewick.
Classmate was a "She" & Jackie has had lung problems since college - she had a double lung transplant several years back. She was a go-getter: Ohio President of N.O.W., President of her local Board of Education, among some of her major accomplishments. She was my very first "real" date - I think it was 7th grade.

George - yes, very thankful for advances in Cardiac Care. According to medical personnel @ the ER, I was less than 10 minutes from the morgue when they got me into the "Catherization Lab". Heart rate was 30 and dropping when paramedics got to me.

  • George - my stents were used to open two arteries - one 100% blocked & one 95% blocked. Technically. I survived the "Widow-Maker".

  • Keeping fingers crossed for Gail - stent implants are no fun but even worse is the temporary use of an Intra-aortic balloon pump. I had one in place for a day while waiting to have a second stent implanted after my heart attack. No movement permitted & a CCU nurse monitored my EKG constantly.

  • Morning Glassies - LTNS !!!
So sorry to read about Amber ! I just lost one of my HS classmates from Ohio from pneumonia (visiting South Africa on safari).
Do we have anyone with Imperial Candlewick books available ? I picked up several pieces of CW @ a flea market & need to verify ID's.

    Flea market finds:
    http://i42.tinypic.com/qs1kjc.jpg

CW saucers/plates side by side comparison:
    http://i42.tinypic.com/k0oc9e.jpg

I have ID'ed the one on the left as either a 400/40D cream soup saucer or a 400/23D flat mayo underplate. The one on the right is a 400/3D 7" salad plate (got 8 of these). Any help verifying would be appreciated !!!

  • @songbreeze Gail - I wish that the trip to Webster had been as successful as the Mt. Dora & Punta Gorda consignment shop were. There were so many absolutely gorgeous pieces of glassware available that I was drooling all over myself. Luckily my wife had better sense & pulled me away from the glass areas. Prices were unbelievable - case in point - Fenton Hobnail Opalescent Yellow small vase - vendor wanted $150 - no dealing either. He had over 100 pieces of Vaseline glass (Fenton) & others - all marked very high - wouldn't negotiate price on any of his glass. A majority of the "real" hardcore glass dealers weren't negotiating either.

    5. Culver City "Greek Key" gold decal on mid-century Cocktail pitcher & 6 tumblers
    http://i44.tinypic.com/ivbqjd.jpg

Pretty good haul & I didn't buy anything at the Webster Flea Market.

  • Just finished mowing back yard for first time in 2 weeks - poor mower bogged down half a dozen times even with cutting bed set very high.
Reen - apparently winds were high while we were gone. Lost the top to my Hercules shelter (garage) ! We didn't have any water problems but several businesses two blocks away from us had major flooding problems.

  • Evening Glassies - Just trying to get things back to normal after two weeks in "liquid sunny central Florida" !
I did come back with some beautiful glass packed away in my carry on that I picked up at a consignment shop in Punta Gorda & the Flea Market in Mt. Dora. Checked out a ton of glass @ the Webster Flea Market but prices were full blown retail & nobody wanted to reduce their prices. I got 2 C&S sets, 1 NM ruby footed dish with silver overlay, a Fostoria "mother of pearl" Fairfax lemon dish, and a gorgeous 50's style bar set (tall pitcher with 6 high ball tumblers) with a gold decal "Greek Key" design. As soon as I get them cleaned up & pictures taken, I will post.
Good to be back in "warm" NE Ohio (heat index 107 degrees). Actually yesterday & today were the 1st days of total sunshine that I have seen since June 30th.

  • IreneM - areas around Akron & Barberton were flooded. One person may have been swept away in flooded river. Road into campground in Medina was flooded.

  • Evening all from "Sunny" central Florida. Just got back from a visit to the "Mouse" & the Gulf Coast. Picked up a nice bar set from the 50s & a Silver City silver overlay C&S set at a consignment shop. Will post pics when I return to flooded Ohio.
Plan on flea market trip to Reninger tomorrow & Webster Monday !

  • Morning Glassies - cloudy & gloomy day here in Ohio. BUT anticipating catching vacation bird tomorrow AM for 2 weeks in Florida (I know - hot, humid, thunderstorms, etc. but only time BH can get off work right now).

Interesting experience Saturday @ garage sale. Picked up Hocking punch bowl set (2 pc bowl & stand + 12 cups) for $2 - all in excellent condition. Woman had about 20 hummingbird feeders hung in side yard with all the feeders active with birds. I got talking to her about her hummers & walked into the area where the feeders were. Next thing I knew, a hummer (ruby throat male) landed on my shoulder. She said that they do that with her family all the time. She feeds them by hand and they respond to her call. Absolutely amazing & gorgeous site.

  • Pictures of my bluebird family right outside my camper window. I sat for hours watching the interplay with these 3 plus the antics of Mom & Dad protecting the nest from other bird species:

    http://i43.tinypic.com/dxivb5.jpg

  • Morning all - sitting in camper @ breakfast table watching Mom & Dad bluebirds feeding the little one . I think there is only one in the nest. All we can see is one large mouth when they land on the house. I have tried to take a photo of the little one but will have to wait til Monday to download off camera to home computer. This puter would crash if I tried to.
Katie - agree, looks like lioness !

  • @songbreeze Gail - quick link into Etsy Help - Buyer Protection: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/3161?ref=help_search_result
They have a very detailed "Seller Protection" section also !

  • The bluebirds here in NE Ohio are making a spectacular comeback. Just about everywhere you go in areas with trees, etc., you see at least one pair buzzing around. Here at the camper, we have an outstanding variety of songbirds & others. One of the other campers has ID'ed something like 20 varieties of birds ranging from hummingbirds to buzzards + a bald eagle spotted about two weeks ago.

  • Shelly - at last count, there were 6 pair of nesting bluebirds within 6 campsites around us. Only problem, they congregate at my camper to feed in the morning - at 5:30 AM and, boy are they noisy. BH & the dog don't enjoy being woke up but I love the sound - most of the time.

  • Shelly - Bluebird ! This is her second clutch of eggs. First was displaced by a sparrow that threw out 5 eggs. We do have wrens around the camper tho - neighbor has several wren houses hung. She also has a bluebird nesting. This is the male doing his thing - I set up a feed plate for mealworms & he loves that !

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - would love to have a piece of cake and/or pie for a birthday celebration BUT BH has banned those from the house since the HA 4 1/2 years ago.
Here is pic of a cutie that we are watching at the camper this Summer.

  • Thanks to all for the b-day wishes ! Grandpa gets to relax today with the dog as Grandma is going to run out to watch the grandson's baseball team play tonite. Might go get my "free" fishing license from the sate of Ohio. Yippee !!!!

Watching cable last night ("American Restorations") as they were restoring a Geiger Counter from the 50's. They were looking for uranium to test it so they proceeded to use a cup & saucer from the "Fiesta" line to show the radioactivity. "Uranium oxide used in the finishing process to enhance the color" - as they explained.

Everyone have a great one - I'm going to smell the roses today (my rosebushes are full & blooming).

  • @reen You are describing 35mm film strips. I was in the Audio-Visual club in high school & the teachers used a lot of these as teaching aids. The club members had the honor of running the projector in the class. We learned to use the various projectors (movie, slide & film strip) plus how to repair the movies & film strips when they broke.

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - campground is "wet" right now so can't do a lot of yardwork. Have to replace my propane regulator & tank "pigtails" before this coming weekend. Going to store tonite to pick up fittings to complete installatiion.
Scarlett loves the camper even though she is restricted to her "deck" unless she is on a leash. Camp Rules say max. 8 ft. long but I use a 15 ft retractable. She is everybody's sweetheart !

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - only 10% from HA - Cardiologist tied it to Agent Orange - if I hadn't done so well on rehab stress tests, probably would have gotten more. It took the VA over 14 months to render a decision & still didn't address all the filings. I'm still waiting on the final for PTSD & cancer. PTSD probably will get denied - was not in combat zone even though we got mortar rounds & rockets thrown at us nightly. Psych. Dr. from VA said that wasn't stressful. I wasn't supposed to be charged for lab tests, exams, etc. for Agent Orange disability testing but I sure got billed & threatened !!!

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - VA does a great job of reminding patients of appointments. My last app't - I received 4 different phone reminders of the date, time & what to bring (ID's, etc.). Now just waiting to get my refund check from the VA to reimburse me for clinic & lab visits that I have paid for (after improper billing from VA - on VA disability, don't have to pay for clinic & lab treatments).

  • Evening Glassies - FYI : Shelly >> National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Northwestern PA Tuesday night. Rated EF1 with winds of over 100 mph - considerable damage in affected areas but only 5 known injuries.
Hope Shelly & family are okay !!!!

  • @baabaamason Bob - could be Atterbury Dancing Sailor.

  • FYI - as if gas prices aren't ridiculously high now, one of our more brilliant Congressmen (I think from NY) wants a $1.25/gallon nationwide tax added to gasoline to fund roadway repairs & construction. This from someone who doesn't have to drive to & from work nor pay for his gas.

  • @jmart8248 Irene - gas here jumped from $3.49 to $3.79 also. "Seasonal adjustment" - summer gas !!!

  • @dianes Diane - your URL shows up just fine. Ye Old Jewelry Shoppe looks good to me. The link in your profile worked fine !

  • Amber - not really chewy, they are a lighter dinner roll actually. Taste heavenly when loaded with butter. Unfortunately, BH frowns on my butter usage so I have to watch when I eat there.

  • Shelly - Yum to Red Lobster biscuits but the BEST biscuits offered by a chain restaurant has to be O'Charley's. Years ago when I was traveling, I used to get a small prime rib dinner at the nearest O'Cs just to get my fill of their fresh biscuits. Was so happy when they opened one here near Akron & now my BH is hooked on them too.

  • Shelly - ooops, that should be "window box"

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly - been selling FK very well online + finding a ton of FK in marigold here right now @ yard sales & estate sales.
BTW - sold my Fostoria #2373 window in black glass with silver overlay last week at a ARS type appraisal fair. Got enough to cover airfare for BH & I for Florida this summer.
Gotta scoot - campground opens tomorrow & I still have more to pack in the truck tonite.

  • @songbreeze Gail - was looking for details (when made exactly, BV, etc.) rather than ID - I knew it was a Degenhart from the 70's. Still amazed by the intensity of the UV glow - didn't know that they lifted ban in late 50's on use of uranium oxide.

  • Afternoon Glassies: LTNS

Looking for details on $1 purchase this AM @ local second hand shop. Loved the color on this Daisy & Button top hat but had to buy when I saw the "D" in the heart. Know that it is Degenhart but I am still puzzled by the intense glow under UV. I know that Crystal Art Glass AKA Degenhart used the mark only in the 70's.

I can't find out anything in my books since they only cover up to the 60's ! Any ID & value help would be appreciated.

  • @jerseystar27 Nancy - I can't wait to hear that here. BUT 3 trucks belonging to the same owner were busted last Fall for drug distribution/sales etc. Last I heard he is not being charged because he didn't know what his drivers were doing.

  • Katie - we got Scarlett from a breeder/show woman & we kinda rescued her. Scarlett didn't like the show ring so breeder was going to get rid of her to another breeder. We "sweet-talked" her into selling to us if we had her spayed (which we did). We still paid premium $$ for her - not quite what a show/breeder female would have cost. She has all her papers & comes from a long list of champions ! She does prance though when in harness. She'll be 2 in May.

  • @fyrqueen Katie - your Maggy is gorgeous. I assume she is a Cocker. We now have the Cavalier King Charles which is a smaller Spaniel.

  • @carma Carl - the logistics @ the U.S.P.S. has always amazed me. I worked for several trucking companies & the rule was " The shortest distance (& cheapest route) between two points is ....." You know the rest. I have seen packages go from Akron to Pennsylvania to Texas, on a regular basis. Amazing !!!!

  • Yippee !! Sold my Fenton "Lattice & Grape" tumblers & Hocking "Princess" grill plates on eBay with 2 more sales pending. Could it be that "refund checks" are trickling down ??

  • @dianes Diane - have you tried ChataboutDG.com ? That is a reference site with resources galore. You have to sign up (free) but it is worth the time if you want to learn about Depression glass.

  • Shelly - Kneecaps were recommended by both vet & breeder. (PLUS they are unbelievably cheap) They are like beef jerky with the bone attached.
