• Turned my phones to "mute" so the crank new years calls don't come in. Went to bed before midnight & treated myself & slept in. Through out a pair of slippers & walking into the new year with a new pair. Not much snow on the ground and may go and shovel the deck & sprinkle de-icer on the driveway. All is well and wishing the glassies a wonderful blessed and healthy & prosperous new year. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINEY - Have a wonderful day.
Good morning glassies - hope you all had a great holiday and are in good spirits & health. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAIL

Shovelled the white stuff yesterday but it snowed overnight and there's a fresh batch of the heavy snow. Lost hydro & the landline, hence not heat, light, furnace, etc. for 4 hours.
Thank you for the many candles on the cake - they'll help warm it up here and at least I don't have to bake a cake - just enjoy it. Marson of the snow

  • Oh to be young and in love. Congratulatiions to Matt & Marley. Carl, I guess you'll have to start saving for a wedding gift or perhaps they'd like a special piece of glass from your collection as well. Marson who's getting her furnace tuned up for the coming season. It is getting chillier. == hope the rest of the glassies are having a warm day.

  • So sad to see another one of the old times like Dori pass away.

We've been having a wonderful fall - much warmer than usual. Only one frost so far & my snapdragons from last year, self-seeded & a few are still blooming as well as the dianthus.
Trimmed them down for next year and dug up some plants aka weeds by the front entrance.
That way it's easier to clear when the snow comes. Yes, I said that word, as it's being bantered around for this weekend and it's starting to cool off. Time to bring out the winter clothes which are never that far away to begin with. All the best, stay safe & warm. Marson

  • Julie, good to see you back safe and sound and well rested. HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY - JimL
Garage sales rather sparse this year, so we're trying to hit them all especially if they're also a moving sale. More clutter .) Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY

  • Good afternoon Glassies - hope everyone is fine and doing well and a special greeting to the man on board CARL - Have a happy birthday and a wonderful year. Trust your garden is flourishing. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE

  • Wish I could help but I'm rather 'glass challenged' but it's so good to see you again. Hope you're well and things are good. Check back to see if one of the others can be of assistance. Have a great day. Marson

  • HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY REEN - hope you and Gil had a restful good day.

Sunny outside, a bit breezy, grass is slowly turning green, tulip leaves are starting to pop up, the rabbits run across the yard. Looks like spring. Marson

  • Didn't get the storm that was to come, at least not in this area. Will shovel the driveway later although I made a clearing in front of the door. I usually "push & flip" - only lift the light snow - either use a scoop or shovel depending on the amount & type of snow. The deck is just " push off the deck".
It's warmer than I thought it would be, so after lunch I'll get fresh air & exercise. Marson

  • My driveway was shovelled, not much on the deck, but the roof has a fair amount. However, it's starting to snow and we're expecting it to turn into a storm as the day & evening progresses, so we'll have alot to shovel tomorrow morning. To make matters worse, it's changing into "daylight saving time" which will throw off our circadian rhythm which affects alot of people. Went to thrift stores & bought a few clothing items & boots and now I have to donate as many as I brought in -(one in, one out) at least that's how it should be. Haven't seen any glassware that might be worth purchasing, as I have more than enough already. Hard to believe that two and a half months have already flown by - they seem to go so quickly. Wishing the glassies all the best. Marson

  • Happy belated birthday Kelli - hope you had a wonderful day. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELLY

  • I'm back againl We've been having such a mixture of weather: snow, sleet, slush, extreme cold, more snow, sleet, etc. The cold deters you from shovelling, the ice makes it dangerous to do so. if the snow is light, it's not too bad, however, if it's the wet stuff it's a pain to do so. Between snowblowers, shovels & front-end loaders, it gets done eventually. Best to stay indoors and just hunker down.
That's how it's been during Christmas, Channukah and Kwanza.

Noticed that Julie has been baking again, so I thought I'd join the glassies for a slice and to wish

    LAINEY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY CHANUKAH

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELLY

  • Thank you Nancy for a word to the wise. They say that a large percentage of seniors falls are attributed to falling as a result of their slippers - either 'ill fitting' or (forgot the other reason), probably not having proper gripping. I put my Sketchers away because I got another pair or slippers.
They weren't quite as comfortable so I went back to the Sketchers & discovered that they either stretched or my feet shrunk and I've noticed that sometimes there is an issue with how they function. Thanks for the advice. Now to find another pair & toss the old ones. Marson of the snow

  • It's arrived - and I've shoveled it - the deck is cleared but we're expecting more rain/snow which turns into slush & ice. Have to be careful whether one is walking or driving. Managed to spread grass seed on Thursday despite the wind and with this layer of moisture, it should be a good start for spring. Time to get the parka & boots ready to go. No garage sales for a long time. Marson

  • Nancy, don't know how I missed them - maybe it's because I've never had them before and they blend in so well with all the other goodies.. Marson

  • I'll have a slice of that delicious looking cake that Julie baked this morning to go along with my cup of coffee. Then I'll have a cupcake with a cup of tea in the afternoon. Yummm.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAIL

Have a wonderful day and likewise to the glassies. No snow on the ground and we've got warmer weather so outside work can be done in comfort. Marson

  • Presently it's sunny and the town workers are repatching a pothole on the road in front of the house.
We're already had a bit of snow but fortunately it melted along with the sleet. It's been cold and I've worn a light winter jacket - we've been told there will be a few warm days so I'll pull out some of the flowers in front but see if a few plants overwinter. Alas, the geraniums don't make it unless I bring them in but even then they don't always make it. Picked up a parlor palm at the thrift store & then wondered where I'd put it. Left it in the garage for a few days and reconfigured by my other plants and voila! it's in the house. Started a few spider plants & dropped them off at the thrift store as they sell. Dropped off quite a few clothes for the giveaway and have six more pairs of pants & trench coat to go. Yes!!! Slowly but surely things are going out. Hope all the glassies are well & relaxed. Marson

  • They disappeared. We'll have to send out a search party. Probably enjoying the last days of summer, traveling, gardening, pickling, freezing, etc. There are beautiful aurora bourealis this week i.e. northern lights - that is if you're away from the city lights and on the outskirts of town or in the country, they're a sight to behold. A harvest moon coming up this Fri. and hopefully it will be clearly visible and shining.
Probably the last of the garage sales this weekend......there weren't many this year but for those who like to scavenge in the city, there's a Free giveway - whatever you put on the yard, or driveway, and has a FREE sign, is up for grabs. A lot of the country folk go there with pickup trucks and load them with furniture, appliances, plants and whatever else is there. I'll probably stay home and finish off my plants and try to downsize. Hope everyone is in good health & just busy. Marson

  • So sorry to hear of the passing of Fran ... my sympathy to the family. She was such a friendly and lovely lady and will be missed. Marson

  • Oh oh. See I missed a birthday - hope you had a wonderful one Carl and all the best for the year. Glad your garden is doing well. Yeah for fresh fruit & veggies. Good day to the rest of the glassies. Marson

  • Received bad news - my youngest son passed away ... am waiting for particulars - will have busy days ahead for which I'll need strength & wisdom. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE

  • Gingers' late DH used to send seasonal cards to the potties, if I remember correctly, I may have saved one or two of them on my hard drive. He was into clocks and Ginger looked after him when he had his health issues. Prayers for her. Sun is shining, a bit of snow expected but manageable. May take a walk to the post office - probably will waddle like a duck as the streets are icy/slippery. Marson

  • Still in the minus zero temps but a little warmer. Bob used to post pictures of Bin & the various outfits he wore and I thought it was so interesting and copied it unto my picture file and look at it once in a while. Bob was a nice person and an asset to the board. RIP Marson

  • Snowy & blizzardly conditions, highways closed, etc. etc. Same old, getting old.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCYJEAN

  • Too much effort for so little of a result 🙂 At least I tried. Prefer to do it individually.
Sun is shining, no falling snow at the moment. Should be doing paperwork - filing & shredding. Working on puzzle. Marson

  • No I haven't. Sounds interesting & rather intriguing. How does one go about it?? Marson

  • We're expecting more snow & wind this afternoon (actually it's started already). Stopped at the store and found the dark chocolate TimTams - needless to say, a package came home with me and one has already hit my tastebuds. mmmm good with coffee. Marson

  • Julie - our TimTams were $2.77 Cdn. (sale price) - haven't tried the carmel ones as I thought they'd be too sweet - actually prefer a dark chocolate so I may not be buying them in the near future. Shelly, I think I'm joining you on that. We had the snow melting with the warmer tempertures but also had light snow and rain & wind after that below zero temperatures - needless to say - the roads & sidewalks are icy. I'm staying indoors to stay on the safe side. However, my son lives in the city and he & his girlfriend went for a walk. Despite the street being sanded, they both fell. Fortunately it was by a paramedic station so they got treated quickly. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital with possibility of a broken arm/wrist or whatever. He couldn't go with her because of the covid & ambulance protocols (he can't even visit her or be with her at the hospital because of that). He walked back home despite his possible injuries to his leg (didn't want to be charged for another ambulance). Said he was going to put on an ice pack and then take a warm bath. Haven't heard how things are progressing because that may take hours to find out. Always something to pray about. Stay safe and be careful out there. Marson

  • Having Carma's weather. The highways were closed as were the businesses, schools, etc. Always good to have a supply of dried or canned food on hand.
Went to the store last week and they had a product on sale that is rarely sold around here "TimTams" - needless to say, they came home with me.
A snow-blower or tractor would be nice - although I've been shovelling or redoing to my satisfaction what my neighbours clear. Get fresh air & excercise.

Stay healthy, safe & warm. Marson

  • Julie - you baked such a spring-like cake. Don't know how far one would have to dig under the snow to even see a frozen strawberry life. Went for a drive with neighbours - despite a puffy-feather vest, sweater & winter coat, lined leather boots & gloves, and a hat on, it was still cool. Did I say the vehicle was almost heated (not as warm as usual). Hi Nancy, hope you're enjoying a sunshiny day - no kayaking 🙂 Kelli HAPPY BIRTHDAY - have a wonderful day. Hope all the glassies are in good health. Marson

  • ok getting in the first leg in, the second one is rather precariously done - with one hand holding on to the dresser or bed.....standing like the classic pose of the flamingo isn't done. Marson

  • Have a happy New Year.

Having plans sounds like a good idea until you have to put on clothes and leave the house.

It’s weird being the same age as old people.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be older, this is not what I expected.

Life is like a helicopter. I don’t know how to operate a helicopter.

Chocolate is God’s way of telling us he likes us a little bit chubby.

It’s probably my age that tricks people into thinking I’m an adult.

Never sing in the shower! Singing leads to dancing, dancing leads

to slipping, and slipping leads to paramedics seeing you naked.

    So remember…Don’t sing!

During the middle ages they celebrated the end of the plague with wine and orgies. Does anyone know if there is anything planned when this one ends?

I see people about my age mountain climbing; I feel good getting my leg through my underwear without losing my balance.

So if a cow doesn’t produce milk, is it a milk dud or an udder failure?

If you can’t think of a word say “I forgot the English word for it.” That way people will think you’re bilingual instead of an idiot.

I’m at a place in my life where errands are starting to count as going out.

Cronacoaster (Noun): The ups and downs of a pandemic. One day you’re loving your bubble, doing work-outs, baking banana bread and going for long walks and the next you’re crying, drinking gin for breakfast and missing people you don’t even like.

Don’t be worried about your smartphone or TV spying on you. Your vacuum cleaner has been collecting dirt on you for years.

I’m getting tired of being part of a major historical event.

I don’t always go the extra mile, but when I do it’s because I missed my exit.

You don’t realize how old you are until you sit on the floor and then try to get back up.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is the day dogs have been waiting for. They realize their owners can’t leave the house and they get them 24/7. Dogs are rejoicing everywhere. Cats are contemplating suicide.

If you are trying to impress me with your vehicle, it better be a food truck.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINEY +++ have a wonderful day!

  • HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY Maryb - hope you had a wonderful day. Marson

  • Wishing all glassies a safe, healthy & blessed Christmas, full of peace & joy. Marson

  • Hi Susu - how are you? It's been a long time since we're "seen" you. Marson

  • My deep sympathy to you, Carl and your family on the loss of your sister Sue. She was always pleasant and helpful when she came to the board and had interesting tidbits to share. Marson

  • Didn't check in either JimL. Had a very painful headache - never had one as bad as that. Had to sleep sitting up and the next day I kept praying & popping Tylenol. Didn't even enjoy Julie's birthday cake. Today is much better. Funny, but on Mon. I saw a neurologist and he said "I was pretty normal". ???? Marson

  • Hugs to Julie and all those that need them. I have similar days this week. The weather is much cooler and trying to finish a few things in the yard & garage before putting on parka & gloves working

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRAN - Have wonderful day!
    Likewise to the glassies. Marson

  • Drizzling, raining throughout yesterday, today and predicted for the next couple of days along with a smokey haze from fires. will be staying home for thanksgiving day on Mon. May heat up a frozen TV turkey dinnner LOL 🙂 no sense for doing one up for one person.

Happy Birthday Susan. Have a wonderful day. Marson

  • We are having summer weather - warm & sunny days - the flowers have revived & are blooming - the leaves on the trees have turned beautiful & varied colours and the leaves that have fallen still haven't hit the crunchy stage. The grass is green & some of the neighbours are still cutting grass or raking leaves. Such a wonderful reprieve and we're expecting a few more days of this weather.

Next week is our Thanksgiving and we're still under covid restrictions - orange level. 50 % people in stores, 25 people or 30% (whichever is greater) in places of worship, funerals and weddings also restricted (depending if it's indoors or outdoors).
To eat in a restaurant or even on the patio, you have to be double-vaccinated, likewise to attendence at sport venues.
Not too sure how this will all work out at our church annual Thanksgiving food & clothing giveaway but I'm sure somebody will figure it out.

There have been about 10 garage sales in our area this year which makes for slim pickings but I still managed to pick up a few items 🙂

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Marson

  • Hi MaryB: l-o-n-g time, no see. Glad to see you back. Good morning Glassies - we're getting cooler weather & rain. Too late for some farmers as it's been a dry year. Hope all are doing well. Marson

  • Sun is out, it's warm outside & getting warmer with a possibility of thunderstorms later but weather forecasting isn't always accurate.
Hope you're all having a great day. As usual, Julie baked a cake.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINCEY

  • Hot day out there. Watered the hanging baskets, hit a few dandelions, and came back in. Hope you're all having a wonderful day, especially NANCY

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARL
    '

  • Wouldn't mind a slice of the cake your granddaughter baked - looks professionally done. We've been experiencing a heat wave in Canada - one of the provinces had over 100 deaths (mainly homeless & disenfranchised people & the elderly). It's hot here as well & I don't have airconditioning. Pretty well staying indoors where it's a tad cooler - in the evening open the door between the house & the garage & let the coolness come in and have a fan running. I am not one of those people who loves hot weather. Wishing all the glassies a g'day. Marson

  • Whether it's early, on time, or belated - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE - stay cool and have a TimTam on me and a nice cold drink. Marson

  • Sue - thanks for letting us know. Sorry to hear of your loss of a dear friend. May Dick rest in peace - learned alot from his generosity of information.
    Condolences to his family. Marson

  • It's a beautiful sunshiny day - the grass is greening, the dandelions are flourishing, the tulips are slowly coming up. Could use rain.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE

Hope you are having a wonderful day, miss seeing you around here.

It took me a while to figure out "Good Morning. George" and "Good night George" - I guess all the freezing weather must have frozen a few brain cells ... LOL . Wishing all the glassies a good & safe day. Marson

  • It's warming up -12 C . We've been in a deep freeze.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCYJEAN

  • Took about 15 min. to shovel off the driveway - light snow - the push & scoop works well.
A few hours later did the deck - took just as long but it was much colder & harder as the snow seemed to be packed and came out in chunks. Sun is bright. Yesterday the roads were icy and there were quite a few accidents and some were serious. Marson

  • Shovelled the drive-way & deck in a few time-spaced hours - had to do it carefully (not to slip & fall) as we had rain the other day. Sun is shining & we've had warmer winter temperatures than usual. Good way to get fresh air and not have to wear a mask. Marson

  • Just got my fresh air and exercise shovelling snow. Things are still under code red (number restrictions in stores and only for essentials, although a couple of days before Christmas they let you buy cards & wrap). Restaurants only can serve takeout or delivery but no in-room dining. Houses of worship closed other than online service or outdoor car drive-in with restrictions as well. It's a time for quiet, reflection and telephone calls, online meeting or sending cards or letters (that's if people remember how to do that) Old-timers do but I'm not too sure of the younger generation ..... gues they text or zoom or twitter. This is as fancy as I get. LOL. Marson

  • Wishing the glassies a blessed Christmas & Hanukkah - may peace and joy be yours despite the circumstances. There's so much to be thankful for. A roof over the head, food in the kitchen, and a little snow on the ground and it's not too cold. Marson

  • <b HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELLY

Shovelled driveway yester, today it's warmer so I'll tackle the deck. A bit of snow falling but nothing that will make much of a difference. JIML - around here that type of damage results in a total write-off.
Beautiful mennorah Julie - wonder if Nancy or one of her family members is lighting it today.

  • HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

We're still in 'code red' - no home/indoor gatherings of more than 5 people. Stores can only sell "essential goods", and can only allow a certain amount of people in (according to size). Masks to be worn indoors in stores, etc. They want people to stay indoors & not mingle. Restrictions on hospital & personal care homes (pretty well not allowed). There are dissenters who ignore rules & regulations & either get fined or spread the covid.
BUT there's still MUCH to be thankful for and the Glassies are one of the things I'm thankful for. We can visit virtually without masks and stay safe. Put on a happy face and enjoy the day. Marson

  • Halloween and no kids around - didn't help that the windy was over 50 miles an hour and it was snow/sleeting - not good for travel or walking. We're at a 'code orange' here - limited access to stores, and other things as well, masks to be worn indoors when shopping, etc. In the city they're at 'code red' which has more restrictions. Gyms, pools, libraries, pubs, restaurants closed, Masks mandatory in stores with limited amounts of people. Likewise for places of worship, etc The weather is above average for this time of year, the snow is melting, still good for yardwork. Marson

  • Thanks for all the birthday wishes and cakes. Decided to shovel off the deck today - my birthday gift to me LOL

  • Guess I'll add a 'sewer blockage' rider to my insurance. It may be costly but not as costly if one has an expensive problem come up. We're expecting rain, snow & wind this afternoon.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAIL

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRAN

Today I volunteer at the thrift store and then I think I'll get the snow off my deck - not much but don't want it to be icy & slippery. Julie - thanks for posting that note from Ande.
Isn't that the way we'd all like to go. Katie - I had a relative from CT who was also a docent. Looked it up in the dictionary and lo and behold, I've been one too but called myself a volunteer LOL with the Arts center at various concerts & functions. Carl it's good to hear you may have
a gas station or at least a place to pick up gas. That's the problem with some small towns trying to support small businesses especially now. We're all trying to "buy local" and keep the businesses going and in the past few years, our town has expanded to a city (at least 15,000 people qualifies). And we're growing. Marson

  • It's too long of a wait .... I'm dancing now (daily) - at least a spin or two and some interesting steps but then it will be a sight to see. I'll get the tabourine, ribbons and flags out and
maybe even find my baton and do a spin and flip. Marson

  • So sorry to hear that Jim - it's hard losing friends at any time and now with covid it's harder as you can't even meet & greet & give a hug or even shake hands. I've found that quite a few have online funeral services so one can take part & call or send a card as well. Today it's THANKSGIVING DAY up here in Canada. Wishing all Canucks a wonderful day as well as all the otherglassies as well. The sun is shining and despite all that's going on in the world, there's still ALOT to be thankful for. Marson

  • My sympathy to George's family ... what a loss. Like so many
of you, will miss his good morning to greet the day. ..
and good night george .. at the end of the day.
A man of few words but whose presence was known. Marson

  • CONGRATULATIONS KATIE & MIKE - HAPPY 50TH

  • A nice fall day here. Just had a chocolate croissant for breakfast. Think I'll skip the calamari but don't mind escargot with a hint of garlic & buttered toast. A little caviar is ok too.
I suppose it depends on what you've been brought up with and
how adventurous you are when it comes to eating. Trying other ethnic dishes expands the palette and the waistline 🙂
Haven't seen Nancy for a few days either. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and having a good day. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIML

Have a wonderful day glassies. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY

  • Life's too short, eat dessert first. Cake, pizza, soup, whatever is good for breakfast 🙂

  • Carl, CONGRATULATIONS to you and your Dear Wife on your anniversary - whether it's going out or barbequing at home, the main thing is you both celebrated together. Marson

  • Good morning glassies - Katie: my error - the In Memorium is on the Book Board. Marson

  • Good Morning Glassies - a beautiful day. The sun is shining, tulips still blooming as are the dandelions and the grass has been cut & turning green (with some dry spots). We were to get rain according to the forecasters for the past few days but it hasn't shown up. I notice they have a In Memorium on the pottery board - wonder why there isn't one on this board.

Jack (Toadboy) passed away Dec. 9, 2019 - as did Toby (abzoid) and (Betty) forgot her user id and some have been absent for quite a while (Susu, Lorie sp?, etc.).

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Marson

  • THANK YOU GEORGE! It's a brave thing to do. Julie- all that exercise and being in shape should allow your arm/wrist to heal more quickly. Jim, so what team are you cheering today? Nancy, guess it's not quite the weather for kayaking yet. Carl, did you get lost on your way to grocery shopping or was it a scavenger hunt in the store? Still practising (or at least tryying to) social/physical distancing. It's cold & windy outside, which also causes the dust & dirt debris from winter to kick up as well as the moldy leaves all around so it's just as good to stay indoors. Hope ALL
the glassies are doing well. Marson

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE

  • Guess it's belated - checked the profile & it should have been the 17th - better late then never 🙂

  • The sin is shining but it is cold out there. Time to warm things up - light the candles, pass the cake.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCYJEAN

  • Good afternoon glassies - sun is shining, snow is crisp & sparkling, cool outside, it's a nice day. Julie - can you post the recipe for those so-called cookies? Maybe reading it might give me a clue as to why they turn out that way. If I get real adventurous, I could try to make them and see how they turn out. Had that type of issue with trying to crochet a sweater. Didn't work out so my friend who was more experienced tried it as well - didn't work for her either. She figured it was a problem with the instructions. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Marson
