Bear @jpthings So sorry to hear about the passing of your FIL (((Hugs))))
The Nursing Home Mum is in, is only Respite till we get her in one permanently and we would much prefer if it was down here a little closer to us.This one is closer but still an 1Β½ drive one way.I will start that process after the Silly Season.
Gail @songbreeze Merry Christmas back atcha. This year will be so special. It will be Miss P's first Christmas really. Last year she was just that little bit too young to understand what was going on. This year its going to be great to watch her little face when she see's all the pressies LOL. Of course Darcy DGS is too young to understand anything, too young to even open his pressies LOL.

Oh, HI BEAR @jpthings! You snuck in between my first starting my post and then intermission at my sister's before coming back to finish my post! Love the items and it was just your super packing that saved the day!

Good Morning everyone. Beautiful Spring like weather continues here π Miss P having her morning nap so Grandma can now catch up on the computer
Don @donscns I am glad the seller at least refunded you but how rude not to communicate with you.How much does it take to send an email of apology and stating you will get a refund.
Amber @amber1986 I dont live close enough to the ocean to actually hear it from here. I am just shy of 50klms inland But close enough that I can get there and enjoy without too much fuss.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Nope not an IPad. I bought a Samsung Tablet. It runs on Android and is smaller then an IPad.Much better for me to carry around in my handbag π I love it so far, though I am not using it all the time.
Bear @jpthings Keep buying those lottery tickets π
Beth @bethofvt I don't mind almond milk either and on the odd occassion I make my own. I find some of the store bought ones are full of sugar. But most times I just have skim milk which I like too.

Reen @reen I hope youβre all better by now too.
Hi Bear @jpthings LTNS. Glad you found some time for a visit.
I received an email from Fran last week. She is having some eye problems caused by the Prednisone, like Cataracts
and Glaucoma. As soon as she can see better she will return to the Glass Chat. She also informs me that Marypat is not doing so well. She has had some back surgery and a hip replacement.
Helen @10bbg10 Thanks. It would be nice to do that each week with just one item
Julie -
@jpthings BEAR ... so good to see you checking in. Hope you will come back frequently. CARMA is usually here each morning, but it's been several days so we are about ready to send out the search party. Kelli pops in off and on. Fran hasn't been in for 5 or 6 months. Good Morning everyone. Absolutely miserable weather down here. The coast is copping a caning, torrential rain and strong winds and very high seas. Hence no swimming for me this week. Hopefully tomorrow.
Carl @carma Thanks As you well know, I know nothing about carnival glass and I was very curious about the going price of that piece.
Helen @10bbg10 Good luck with your Xray
Don @donscns I am glad your MIL surgery went well.
BTW thanks for that map π
Alicia @4931nextdoor I am so glad you could spare a moment to sit and relax on the GB. I loved your weddings pics on FB
So sorry to hear about DD#4 marriage breakup ((((hugs ))))
Bear @jpthings Maybe if you have a new dishwasher they might be safe. These new ones have all sorts of cycles and aren't as harsh as the old one. But saying that. I have no idea if it is a good idea or not to use a dishwasher on them.

@carma CARL ... sounds great, will love to hear how it works out. Surely wish I could find a place like that. Well actually there are a couple of places where they have monthly swap meets, but I just can't take the heat. It was 94Β° today and it's not even summer yet.
@jpthings BEAR ... I'm really pleased eBay has the seller exclusion feature. It sure has made searching for certain things a lot easier.

Good Morning, chilly (5 celsius) but the sun is up and shining. The wind has stopped and temps are to reach 19C so looks like I will be in for a very nice warm day. I might spend it outside doing some work in the yard.
Gail @songbreeze I didn't get around to lolling about in the bean bag in the sun reading my book. Fiddled and pottered about achieving nothing LOL.
I have not seen that feature you mentioned. I am going to have a look later on after I have my breakfast to see if I can find what you are talking about.
Hi Bear @jpthings I have not been a good girl this week. I only went swimming x2. Water temps are dropping but still quite pleasant. It is down to 18C
Nancyjg @nancyjg I feel the same as you re paying prices. At GS I expect it to be low, Swaps can be higher then GS and Antique Shops the top price.
Bob @baabaamason LOL Downsizing!!???? I am sure most of us here can relate to that. Its harder than it sounds isn't it? LOL
Don @donscns I hope they can get on top of those bushfires.
Marty @sellingthings I am glad to hear no one was hurt in that storm. It must have been very scarey though.
Reen @reen Enjoy your time with Katie! Sounds like yu two are having a ball.

@jpthings : That's kind of the situation, but not really. Did some checking in addition to what I've heard "word of mouth". It was the grandparents of the current owners that first opened The Cick-a-Dee Restaurant back in the early 50's. They operated it until the mid 1970's & all was well. The children took it over then & ran it until the mid 90's & all was still well. Then the grandchildren took it over. All was still well until about 5-6 years ago & then they started having some "consistency" issues. Quality of both food & service became a bit uneven.
On one of our visits about 3 years ago both the food & service was well below par for them. We chalked it up to just having a bad day. We went again a few months later & all was back up to standard & it still was the last time we went last fall. But, word is that it went downhill VERY badly during this past winter. Poor service, shortcuts & compromises on the food quality etc. Apparently there was a split between the brothers & sisters running the place too. The older brother was upset at the shortcuts & compromises in quality being undertaken by the two younger ones & a family feud developed. Issues could not be resolved, so the older brother left the business & started up his own restaurant in Lewiston, about 12-14 miles away. The aforementioned quality issues caught up with the remaining two siblings, so they called it quits & closed the place two weeks ago. Really a shame, as the place was somewhat of a "Maine Institution" for over half a century.

Gail @songbreeze This seller always stops for a look ay my stall & bit of a chat with me and has bought from me before. His last buy off me was not profitable for him, so it all evens out in the end. He & his wife are lovely ppl and a very interesting to talk to and they work very hard at hunting their treasures for ebay. They travel a lot of kilometres, have motel bills to pay as well, when they travel a long way from home.
So I do not begrudge them one little bit. I was glad that it was them that bought it. I am just a little regretful that had I chose not to eBay I could have had an extra $100-$150. But thems the breaks, you win some loose some
Bear @jpthings I often check their auctions out, have been doing so for many years, because they find so much good stuff and it is very interesting to see the prices they get for some items I would pass by. I have actually purchased off them too on eBay a number of years ago when I bought the small green glass mixing bowl to complete my set.
Dh used to buy a lot of unrestored furniture
off them , when ever they would actually set up a stall at one of the local markets. He was always very cheap and with some TLC DH would restore and tyhe furniture would go into our shop
I always price for the swaps accordingly to leave room for any eBayers to make a profit. And I never begrudge anyone from buying off me and selling at a profit, that is the name of the game after all.
I am a firm beleiver that each item has its levels and shold be priced so. Garage Sale should be cheap, very cheap. (next to no outlay in costs for the venue used) Plus GS are all about clearing unwanted stuff out. so cheap will make sure of that LOL
Next level up in price are the markets and swaps, sell at a price where the next person can make a profit, but at a price where you can make a profit, cover the costs of running the car, petrol and site fees
Then the highest price should be at the Antique shops, where they have a lot more overheads, so their profit margin needs to be higher to cover all those fees. Rent, phone bills, insurance, staff, etc.
Julie -
@jpthings BEAR ... I, too, am sick of seeing all the items glued together. It makes me so sad to see lovely old pieces treated like that. Not sad, but dang annoying, are the stupid Dollar Store candleholders with fruit jars glued to the top and tagged "Redneck wine glass." barf
These are a couple of booths in a store named Ivy Junction Antiques and Collectibles in my area.....pitiful....

@jpthings BEAR ... thank you for the help but I already checked that site and I did not see the RETRO BLENKO mark. Have I overlooked it on the site? These old eyes are tired so for sure, I may have gone right past it even looking through the marks a second time.

@jpthings BEAR ... I think if you go to where it shows it has sold and click on the View Sales Record from the drop-down menu, the screen that comes up lets you print the invoice and possibly re-send it....maybe. π―
@dolores1953 DOLORES ... I bet that was quite an uncomfortable situation between the Uncle dermatologist and the new SIL. Sure it must have brought a smile or two.
@nona NANCYJEAN ... oh, I keep almost nothing. I've already listed it on eBay. I have such a small house and no room nor even desire to have a collection. I love buying and selling and mainly the treasure hunt. Once in a blue moon, I keep something.
HI to FRAN2. π

Good Monday Morning everyone. Foggy this morning but predicted to be a glorious day when it lifts.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Living in a region that has the higest rate of skin cancer my DD is very conscious of all the risks so keeps Miss P well covered. Miss P even at such a very young age when she wants to go outdoors she says "Hat hat hat" She looks for her hat and puts it on π DD is very fair skinned too, so I have educated her from day one Plus watching what my DH went through..well... lets say that was the biggest lesson . So it is always 'slip slop slap' before going outdoors, even if for only a few minutes
'Slip Slop Slap' is an awareness program that has been run down here for many years. Slip on a shirt, slop on sunblock and slap on a hat.
Thanks for the update on Lucy's family.Give them my love and tell them I do think of them often.
George @george ..OH to be young again and to have no fear LOL..Naaaa I don't think I would risk it 2nd time around LOL
Katie @fyrqueen π your story of the hitch hiker reminded me of the time DH & I were in "Hippy Country" we picked up a young mother and daughter hitching...eeeeeewwwwwwww they stunk of cats urine..well thats what it smelt like π
Bear @jpthings I never thought I would ever be a Grandma. Not that it bothered me. But now I am , it is the best thing in the world!! And the timing was right, for all of us. For me especially after loosing DH, Miss P has filled that void.
And I don't think DD & SIL knew just how much love & joy a little one could bring into a home. So much so that Pssssst just between you and me, don't tell anyone yet but I am going to be a Grandma again in October . π

Good Morning everyone
Shelly @shellyrae37 My Grandfather had the same coloured hair. DD's father has red hair and Red hair is also on the SIL side. His Mum has redhair. So it was going to be very hard for Miss P to not have red hair. The pics do not do the colour of her hair justice. It is such an amazingly gorgeous colour. It is so beautiful she stops ppl when we are out. They can't help themselves admiring her and always coment on how gorgeous her hair is.
Yes I know I am bragging π but I am a very proud Grandma π
@george we have lots of rules and regulations down here π Belts hats etc and big fines if caught not adhering to them
Bear @jpthings she is very cute π just like her Grandma π π π BTW Congrats on the Bronze PowerSeller status
Marson @panishklo yep she is growing very fast. Won't be long and she will be taller than me
Gail @songbreeze I am feeling alright I didn't drink much beer LOL We had a good night. Band was good and always good to catch up with "old" friends

Marty @sellingthings enjoy your day

Bear @jpthings Yep I think Doug & Fran are enjoying being empty nesters. They seem to be always off to somewhere, bike rides, dining out & concerts
Miss P is a darling but she will never be smart enough to outwit Grandma and play me against Mum LOL But I am sure she will give it a good try LOL Must tell this story. She loves my red framed eye glasses and she canβt help herself, she must touch them. I tell her NO she is not to touch Grandmas glasses. She looks at me with those gorgeous smiling blue eyes, grins and then cuddles & kisses me. Thinks she has won me over and then proceeds to touch my glasses again. I again teller her No and again she cuddles & kisses me and again thinks she has won me over and touches my glasses. I then tell her Grandma will take all the cuddles and kisses all day long but she is still not to touch my glasses LOL So she gives up when she realises that when Grandma says No she means it and thereβs no getting around me.

@jpthings Bear - The little voice in my head keeps whispering "early Indiana Glass" in my ear, but I can't find anything to back that up. You have either a spooner or a sugar without a lid, most likely the latter. There were very few EAPG open sugars, especially in that size. It's mostly likely from a table set (creamer, covered sugar, spooner, covered butter). I'm not aware of any EAPG table sets with an open sugar.

Gail @sonbgreeze Yep it was a gruelling trip. And a big part of the drive was slow going with very steep & winding roads. But the views were spectacular. Such a gorgeous part of the country (on the outskirts of the Blue Mountains)
Shelly @ @shellyrae37 LOL actually no our money is not green π Our $5 note is purple, $10 blue, $20 red, $50 yellow, Our $100 is green
Bear @jpthings the scenery was beautiful both way. The home way was not as steep and winding. The first part of the route I had never been to before but The last part of that trip is a route we use to go to some other swaps. Still it was nice to go a different way.

HI Gail @songbreeze I have made no plans for Australia Day as I am usually doing a market. But organisers have decided to change the day. Too wet to do anything anyway.
So I might try to get more "stuff" packed & into the van (in between the rain) for the market. Will be leaving tomrrow morning.
Bear @jpthings Thanks for that article.
Don @donscns LOL have fun with the blacklight. It is also very good for checking if anything has been repaired

@jpthings : Oh, trust me, we DO get severe windchill factors up here too. We had a day back in 1992 that everyone around here still talks about. Fortunately, we had warning a day or two in advance so were prepared. We woke up to an actual temperature of -42 below zero. The windchill factor was running -65 to -75 below!! Everything was shut down, schools, stores, banks, PO, the ski areas......everything. Warnings were issued to stay indoors, as any exposed skin in those kind of conditions can freeze in less than a minute. It modified considerably the next morning. It was only -30 below & no wind chill.

Good morning, glassies. Going to warm up a bit today and maybe reach into the 50s but right now the wind is howling. Love to listen to it.
@jpthings BEAR ... which Heisey books have you checked so far. I have Bredehoft's HEISEY GLASS 1925-1938 and Bredehoft's HEISEY GLASS 1896-1957. Have you, @nona NANCYJEAN, and @george gabla GEORGE already searched those two books? If not I'll check when I get back from Church this morning.

@jpthings -Hi Bear. I'll be glad to check the Heisey Books but could you post a photo? Heisey made a whole lot of glass. Nancyjean

@sellingthings MARTY ... thank you very much for the link. I really appreciate the help.
@jpthings BEAR ... I really don't know who made the set or what it is called. I'm putting it in the mall but usually I try to place a date or time-frame on my tag and just hoped the Wheeling book might give a date for that decorating pattern. Thanks for taking time to look for it.
I'd still be packing and tagging but I just ran out of boxes. I bought another bundle of 10 yesterday, but it's 9:30, dark outside, and they are still in the car as I was too lazy yesterday to bring them in. Tomorrow is soon enough to continue. Actually, now that I've stopped for a few minutes, I realize how tired I am. π

@sewerrats glad you survived the holidays π
Shelly @shellyrae37 Friend with the Syndrome is having intense treatment and she is just starting to learn walk again with the help of a frame. She can't walk far only a few steps, but it is a start.

Helen @10bbg10 cancer is so cruel π Terry will be only 51 years old 25th January, Not sure he will make his birthday. π
Gail @songbreeze yes we want pics of your booth when it is all done.
@scott I think my little piggy bank originally came with sherbert in it.

Good morning, glassies. Spent all day yesterday in Joplin restocking and rearranging my booth. Was pleased to find out that they had a booth for rent just across the aisle and one space up from mine. Since the building is 40,000 sq. ft., I was thrilled to get a space right by my booth. It's smaller, but I'm still happy it's so close. Of course, that means buying new shelving, and back to unpacking, retagging, repacking, etc. Will be very busy this next week or so.
@itsagas BILL ... I looked through the Sanford's Victorian Novelty Book last night and also through a Collector's Ashtray book I have but with no luck. Then slapped myself in the forehead when @jpthings BEAR said Heacock's VII. I never pulled that book out of the bookcase...and had I done so, I don't think I ever would have found it in that catalog page. Wow for Bear!
@donscns DON ... so glad your Shell and Tassel arrived in good order. I have a compote and an oblong vegetable bowl and I really find that such a lovely pattern. I found three little sauce/berry bowls in the pattern too. Rather regret that I sold the tray last year. Would like to have looked at it a bit longer. Well, eventually I sell all my glass as I really don't collect any. But sometimes, I just like to keep it around and enjoy it for a while before I put it on the market. π
Suppose to reach nearly 70Β° today. Good grief! You'd think I lived in Florida, not Oklahoma. Loving it!
Heading out the door for a lot of errands to run today.....
-
Good morning, glassies.
@jpthings BEAR ... thanks! I'm always glad when someone enjoys the morning coffee.
@whodat111 SUSAN ... We reached 57Β° yesterday and are suppose to reach 60Β° today. But you are right...the weather is suppose to be all rain on Monday and possibly snow on Tuesday which is furniture delivery day. π Luckily, I live in a very small town and only about a mile from the furniture store so all should go well IF I can find someone who will take the bed and divan before Tuesday!!!!!! Eek!
Heading out for Church right now. See you all later.

With the first 55 characters being::
Pfaltzgraff YORKTOWNE 2pc Jar Ginger Incense PotpourriThought for a while that I had a rare item but there are many of the different Pfaltzgraff patterns on eBay under "Ginger Jar". But only one in the Yorktowne pattern which had sold recently---- for only $1.99 with $6-$7 Expedited shipping. Glad I spent less than $1 for it.
I started trying to go for my book and bed at 8:30 last evening. Kept piddling with this and other stuff until 12:30 am.

Bear @jpthings & Fran @fran be patient Melanie is aged 36 so there is plenty of time yet for you to become Grandma's π
Bear Its such a cute little sugar and creamer and there are a few English Porcelain Companies that made very similar to each other (Meakin, Grindley & Johnston Bros) so I should be able to buy well for Miss P over the next 20 years And just being the plain pink I will be able to mix & match other pieces too e.g designs with pink roses on them .

HI Bear @jpthings . I think Miss P's Mummy & Daddy are very scared I will start her collecting LOL.But I did run something by DD a few weeks ago . I bought at an OP shop a lovely single serve pink sugar and creamer circa approx 1930's. Ideal size for a childs teaset and I asked DD if it would be OK to search for the demitasse set so Miss P and Grandma can have pretend "high teas" together and as she gets older I will hunt for the rest of the dinner service. It will something special from Grandma that she can have for her Glory Box.She was OK with that idea
Bob @glassusa I hope your buyer is honest and repays you.

Good Morning everyone. Well todays temps are very much different to yesterday. It is cool , over cast and windy. It was very blustery this morning at the pool , making the water very choppy and hard to swim my laps. And too windy and spraying rain to bother with our walk.
Helen @10bbg10 lovely GK
@george I am glad you are on the mend.
Bear @jpthings Thanks for looking
Gail @songbreeze I thought it could have been Indiana and it was suggested to that person to go there and get help. Looks like they did.

@jpthings BEAR ... I sent you a message via this Chatroom but I don't know if I sent it correctly. Let me know if you got it.

Good afternoon, glassies.
@jpthings BEAR ... The Shell and tassel is crystal clear. There's just a black background to the picture for the pattern to show up. As far as the Field Guide, I actually tore my apart! I bought three small 3-ring binders. I bought a hole punch just set to that size. I punched holes in all the pages and have them in the 3 binders. When a good photo shows up of a difficult pattern to interpret from the line drawings, I print it, cut the paper to fit the binder, hole punch it and add it. Also I add photos of EAPG that aren't shown in the book.
@madferu NINA ... sorry, don't have any idea on the yellow one.

Thanks again to everyone for the lovely birthday greetings. I had a lovely lovely day. Getting ready to finally go to sleep. Next time I chat with you all I should be in California.
@jpthings BEAR ... glad you like the sample list I put on. Since it came out ok for you, thought I'd print out the rest. Will do it in two stages.

Good afternoon everyone. Back from my weekend away and we all had a great time. Dear friend decided he would ride his bike, said he felt good, no pain and his wife travelled with me in the car. We had a good heart to heart talk, her knowing I knew exactly what she is going through right now. We did get a bit teary at times but all in all we did have a good time.
Thanks everyone for the postive thoughts and prayers for Terry. I don't want to get too morbid or drag this chat into depression. But can you also pray/ send postive thoughts for my brother who is having an operation for prostate cancer tomorrow.
@reen (((((hugs)))) to you and positive thoughts for your friend.
@4931nextdoor Alicia raoflmaopmp re turd tavern. I was only talking about that today on the drive home. We were going down memory lane.
@jpthings Bear keep buying those lottery tickets, you never know you might win the big one . It would be great to meet you in person.
@10bbg10 Helen so sad about your young friend
@fran Sorry you missed out on the vase.

Good Morning eveyone. Another picture perfect Spring day installed for us down here. And I would have missed one DDG sunrise, but I slept in this morning and missed my swim π
@newplace MM "High teas" are big downhere at the moment http://www.atyourtable.com.au/high-tea.html?gclid=CNmpifqK-KsCFS4F4godPDLHpA and I think that has influenced DD with her choice of table settings. She wants old & elegent and loves the look of the clear glass comports etc on white lace . I did the coffee & tea table for her at their wedding. I used my English Myott setting and I must say it looked DDG.
I love to use my items whenever I can, think its because I just love showing off what I have LOL. I have set some lovely tables here over the years for DD for special occasion dinners.
@jpthings Bear Yes I am seriously thinking about starting another collection for Miss P and that would be Pink Glass LOL The other day when I was Opshopping with sister I saw a gorgeous little pink single creamer & sugar made by Johnson UK (Dawnrose) and thought the demitasse cups & saucers added when I can find them would make a charming little girls teaset and when she is old enough she can have little tea parties/ High teas here with Grandma. Then hopefully when she is older still we will have fun hunting for the 'adult" pieces
@wellingtonct Thank you so much for going to all the trouble of getting us the last day of our chat room.
