• Hello to Everyone and Thank you! for the many Birthday Wishes. I guess I'm posting here about once a year now. I still love glass, but have collected only a little glass recently, because I have so much stuff at home that I really need to let go of first. For my Birthday my Sister flew in from Chicago (I live near Los Angeles) and we did alot of stuff. We went Whale watching (saw a lot of Dolphin and a couple of smaller whales) nice day on the ocean, went to Huntington Gardens, beautiful new Chinese garden section and things were in Spring bloom and to the Groundlings Comedy act, which was pretty good on Melrose Ave which had fantastic and unique shops. She left Monday and it's back to the same old routine. It was super windy yesterday and I spent the morning picking up my giant King Palm Fronds that blew down and just popped a couple of Advil, then sat down to reply to all the thoughtful Birthday Wishes. I hope to join everyone here for chat and try to identify some glass or just admire it. Nora

  • Hello, glassies. Thank you Gail, keeper of Birthdays :), for the Birthday wish. I haven't been posting much on here lately (if at all) but I have thought of all of you on this chat line during my period of silence. I will have to catch up with what's been going on. Thanks again for my Bithday Greeting. Nora

  • Marty @sellingthings Thank you for posting your pictures. It's a beautiful tray and interesting to see really rare pieces that can be identified.
    ...A great find.

Now my curiosity has been quenched. Thanks, Nora

  • Just peeking in.

Congradulations to everyone who has sold things lately, looks like things may be picking up.

Marty do you have a picture of your Tray? You have me really curious now.

    Nora

  • Hello everyone, Thanks Shelly and Marson for the suggestions, gears and cogs.
When I get get back from Palm Springs, I'm going to list like a fiend. When you feel you have to start explaining to everyone ehy you have so much stuff in the house, it's time to get rid of it.

Julie, that is just such a wonderful photo. The contrast between your beautiful formative little grandchild and the strength, toughtness of Dad, a really great moment was captured (I've been away awhile, so hope I'm getting it right, grandchild, Dad?)

Now I'm really leaving to do some roof repairs in Palm Springs. Nora

  • George and Marty...thank you! I will list them and just see what happens. Seems like her work is more geared towards specific events. I saw a few pieces by her on line. But no info on her, she hasn't been discovered I guess.

I'm going to to tie up a few things here and I'm heading out tomorrow for the weekend.

    Good night to you George.

  • Hello everyone, I have some signed glasses that were done by someone called Normajean Wright. Has anyone heard of her? I can't find any info about her. These glasses are black, turquoise and 24K gold (to bad I can't scrape off the gold). They probably won't be hot sellers, but I have alot of them and will give it a try.

    here's some pics;

This one I think might be the Gas Co. It has a Blue flame, a dinosour, oil well (I think), desert, a little boat and some (carrots?)

This glass just says 'Rotary International' and "Rotary Club of West Hollywood' and has wheels.

  • Marty, Just looking in and I think I found the blue wedgewood pattern. Jeanette Glass Corinthian Blue Pattern round bottomed rock glasses. Nora

  • Katie, I'm no expert, but from what I've heard a good time is to wait until after they've bloomed. Late summer, early fall here in California. I don't know what part of the country you live, so it may different for where you live. I actually joined the Iris Society here for a year. Alot of the members were breeders. What incredible gardens they had. I have alot of irises I won there, that have not bloomed yet, so it'll be fun to see what pops up. The iris I bought the vase I showed a while ago is I believe calle 'Sultan', though it had no name when I got it. Then this year I got a ruffled variation of Sultan in the garden that I never saw before. I'm going to post a couple of pics. The puple orange one, a late bloomer, is one of my favorites, I don't know what thats called either.

  • Hi Katie, I found a good site for trying to identify your iris. I l checked under copper color. There are so many variations, it's hard to know exactly. I'm into Irises now myself, but have run out of room to plant them. Nora

  • Hello everyone, Me too Bear, cramming for last minutes tax filing, you are not alone. I'm pretty sure I found out what my vase is. I found a site that has the same colors and the same shape of my vase. I wrote it down somewhere. It is a new vase like Kelli said. So no further looking for it is required. I'm very confident that I found it's origin. I thank everyone for looking. Well everyone have a good night, I reluctantly return to my taxes. Nora

  • Kelli...like WOW...congradulations!

  • Hi Nancy, Thank you. Chicken soup and matzo balls works for me.

  • Hello, Shelly and Julie. Sorry I didn't catch up to what everyone was talking about and just burst in. But I need to brush up on my glass ID'ing skills anyways. It seems anything I can ID, someone beats me to it.
    Nora

  • Hello everyone, I'm so bummed out. I just lost 2 auctions in 2 days on vases that I really, really liked. I can't beleive it, oh well, I guess I'll survive, there will be more. Anyway, here's a vase I bought for my Irises some time ago and I wonder if anyone can ID it or if it's an art glass vase. It's 15" tall and has a ground pontil (sp). Thank you for any help. Nora

  • Gail, the shade looks deco and the birds look to be either heron or egret to me. I didn't leave yet.

  • Hello Gail. thank you for the Birthday Greetings! It came through in my email and since I haven't logged on here for awhile, It was a nice surprise. Thank you reen, for the Birthday greetings too. I've just been overwhelmed with 'change' lately. It's not that I have forgotten everyone here. Among those changes (a minor one) I put in Windows7 on my computer, because of all the spam i was getting on XP and of course my old photo editing program was not compatible (which I loved) and I had to get used all the new stuff on my computer.

Julie: Also, I wanted to say a long belated 'Hello' to you.

After I post this I'm leaving for Palm Springs to get estimates for a new roof on my mothers house, because everytime the wind blows, which is alot, I lose sections of roof and I'm tired of repairing it bit by bit. After that's fixed it's going up for up for sale. Yeah!

So, I'll probably disappear for a couple of days again, but I hope to catch up with everyone when I get back.

    Thanks again, Nora

  • Hellooo glassies! I searched and searched ebay for all of you and you were gone. Thanks to Fran, I've found you all again and am very happy to find the group here and intact. Thank you George and Gail for the greetings. I have to go away for a few days to get my mothers house ready to sell. What a big job. Glad you're all here and nice to see all the familiar names. Nora
