Hi All,
Bill I've never seen an albino squirrel, what a great photo,
I picked up a couple of souvenir glass pieces and wondering about the colour on the creamer (I think the pattern is button and arches). I only see them as clear glass with the red on the top. Was there a name for this colour - I've looking but not seeing anything like this.
I also picked up this nice opalescent powder jar by Waltersperger of France http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v131/marykueber/100_3850_zps189bfda7.jpg

Hi Folks,
Gail, sounds like you have been through a lot - glad to hear things went well and you are resting!
I'm been trying to id this piece of vaseline glass but having no luck. Would this be considered a swung vase? Stands 12" in height. Been a bit since I posted here, hope the photo works.
Still nice weather here but fall is in the air. Hope everyone had a great summer.

@george thank-you for suggesting Dugan! I've been looking on-line and the finish sure looks like Dugan., hopefully I can find the shape. I'll post if I find one.

Hi glass folks, hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.
I'm trying to figure out this glass vase, yellow with gold frit. Maybe Czech, seems to have some age to it.
Also a photo of a Lalique Formose vase a lady brought into my store - I've never seen one before, truly a beautiful piece of glass.

Evening Glassies,
I picked up an EAPG pitcher and six glasses in what I think is the Hobstar Omnibus pattern by US Glass (sorry, I don't have my camera to take a photo). They have a purple trim - is there a term for this in searching? I've been looking using purple trim and coming up with nothing. Was the purple trim common? I'll get some photos tomorrow - 3 glasses have chips but the rest are fine, they look beautiful all together.
Hope all in the path of the storm take care, sounds like lots of snow!

@songbreeze Gail, congrats on your RL store and a sale already! Your store looks open so maybe the e-mail to you is lost or delayed. I'm sure you will do well, and it is nice to not have to pay a final value fee on sales.

@shellyrae37 Hi Shelley, The fees on RL are less than ebay. There is a $20.00 advertising fee per month then 30 cents per listing up to 150 listings, then it drops to 20 cents per listing. Your listing fees are for 1 month - I don't have a store on ebay so I don't know what the comparable is, but I think RL works out to be less money. I think the big saving is there is no final value fee, plus in 7 years on RL I have only had one non paying buyer. Well worth checking the site out.
Congrats Julie on your new grandson, he looks like a sweetie.

Happy Birthday Gail Mac & Chris, hope you have a wonderful day! Happy belated Birthday Gail!
I know some folks here sell on Ruby Lane but for those that don't and have maybe been thinking about it, there is still a couple of days to open a store on Ruby Lane with no start up fee, it goes until Oct 31st. I find my sales there are very good, no final value fees, people that buy actually pay and an easy site for listing.
Shelley glad to hear you have your new appliances, bet you are happy.
Good Week to all.

@songbreeze lol your table looks like mine.

Thanks for your info and link for Bashful Charlotte - I went to have a look but they weren't Bashful Charlotte, I'm not sure what they were. You never know unless you go and have a look, maybe next time.
I did get a few pieces of glass this weekend, haven't got them photographed yet as I'm still trying to id them. I also bought a trunk of beautiful outfits from the 40 & 50s - the only problem is they had mothballs stored in the trunk.I have them outside hoping the smell will disappear.

HI All,
Great news for your son Gail!
I've only seen 'Bashful Charlotte' in photos, so I'm trying to get as much info on them as possible - I'm going to view a house on Saturday and they think they have several of them, all in pink. Are there reproductions of these or something that I should be looking for on them? I've been reading up on them and see there is a draped lady, rose lady and mandolin lady - so much to learn. Any thoughts on this would be great.

Hi All,
Wow on that carnival glass piece - I'd be on pins and needles while it was in transit. Interesting info on the carnival glass market Carl.
Great find in your box Char
I picked up this Fenton lemonade pitcher for $5.00 - the bottom at some point came off and has been glued in place - sitting in the window you'd never know it was damaged.
Has anyone had problems with the search on ebay - it seems to keep bringing up items that I'm not interested in, very frustrating.

Been awhile since I have been here, hope everyone is doing well.
I picked up 2 purple oil lamps, the one on the left is Thumbprint panel, the other is a bullseye pattern but still researching to find out who made it. I have what I think are berry bowls by Beatty Glass in the Blue Swirl Pattern. Bowls are 1 1/2" in height x 4 1/4" wide. The opalescent ribs/swirls are raised on the outside of the bowl. Not sure if this glass was reproduced or not.

Bit of excitement here - I live at the end of the runway for the military base & civilian airport. Yesterday when I got home and heading out to walk the dogs there was an airliner with 2 fighter jets along side landing at the airport. Turns out it was a Korean airline plane that had left Vancouver for Korea but had to be diverted here due to a bomb threat. All is well tonight. the plane left here this evening. I think I would be a bit nervous to get back on the plane.

@wellingtonct that is one heck of a goose egg! It hurts just looking at it. I hope you heal quickly.
For my NPB - 4 are on my other selling id for jewels, the other 3 are the same person that has several id's (that I know of) and buys like crazy and pays for a few but not the others. I talked to ebay this morning about her - they are aware of what she does but she is still able to buy. - told me that I am doing the right thing by filing a NPB report. I just find it frustrating that I have to wait 8 days before I can re-list and get my fees back. It must be a sickness I guess that you buys lots but pay for little. I sell on Ruby Lane and never have problems like this (touch wood) so I'm thankful for that.
Crazy weather up here, calling for snow tonight - I really need warm weather.

Just dropping in to say hi and have a vent - 7 non-paying bidders in 3 weeks on ebay. What the heck is going on? Sellers bust their butts listing with the correct information, good photos and then buyers bid and don't pay - I really wish we (sellers) were able to leave negative feedback for these folks. I file the NPB but I don't know if it ever does any good.
Ok vent over.

@suzy Your #2 stopper doesn't have a company name, it is in the 'Fan Stopper' section. If you sell these you should put fan geometric stopper in the title and or listing as collectors search with those keywords. I wasn't able to find the base of your #2, but I believe it would have had a fan stopper on it.
I really like your #2 stopper, looks very fancy.Happy Birthday Jim, hope you had an enjoyable day.

@songbreeze Gail, the decision to return the item is made by paypal when you file a SNAD. As to who pays the return shipping it seems to depend on why the item is being returned. From what I understand, if something is broken they don't always make the buyer return the item for a full refund.
I had to phone paypal a couple of weeks ago and they were very helpful - it might be worth it to phone them and see what they suggest. -
cxgirl posted an update Friday, Sep 16, 2011, 6:39pm EDT, 12 years, 8 months ago
@songbreeze It is sellers like yours that give others a bad name. I hope in talking to ebay they explained to her about insurance. Hopefully she will do the right thing for you.
@suzy sorry, your second bottle isn't in the book. You might try this on the PGB, some perfumes folks over there.

cxgirl posted an update Friday, Sep 16, 2011, 4:28pm EDT, 12 years, 8 months ago
@songbreeze Gail, Insurance is for the seller, they have to get the item to the buyer unbroken. Didn't it change a year or so ago that sellers could no longer offer insurance, they had to build the cost into the shipping? Did you return the items with tracking information? If so I would file a SNAD.
I agree that if a buyer changes their mind on an item they should pay the return shipping. When an item is broken or not as described it should be on the seller to pay. -
cxgirl posted an update Friday, Sep 16, 2011, 3:58pm EDT, 12 years, 8 months ago
@suzy Your #1 bottle is Imperial Glass for Irice, early 1940s. Shown on pg 68 of Perfume, Cologne and Scent bottles by North.
Your #2 - the stopper is shown on pg 74 (of above book) on a different base/bottle. Do you have a straight on shot of the bottle part - I think the bottle of yours is shown on pg 68.

@songbreeze Gail that is just wrong you had to pay to return damaged goods. I thought ebay offered 'buyer protection' on items, so if something is broken or damaged in shipping the buyer doesn't pay to return items. Have you contacted ebay about your problem or asked on the 'seller central board'?

@songbreeze Gail is there an acid etch mark on the base? Makes me think of Steuben, but the base in the photo doesn't look to be polished. Looks like nice glass.

@carma Thanks very much for sharing all the information on Northwood, Dugan and National Glass! I wrote down all the info so I will have it for future use.
Nice photo with the vase.

I have spent the last couple of hours looking on-line about Dugan and Northwood, and getting sidetracked looking at some wonderful pieces of glass. On Doty's site it says 'until 1981 carnival glass collectors were unaware of The Dugan glass Company' - that is only 30 years ago, so I can see why books could have the wrong information. I imagine there is still information that could come to light that could change ideas of who made what pieces of glass.
I don't understand the part 'when that Northwood venture was purchased by National Glass' - which venture is this referring to? Lots to learn by me.

Thanks for the id Carl. I agree Gail, it is hard sometimes to keep companies and patterns straight, and it doesn't help if books have the wrong information. Interesting to note, on ebay there are only 3 listings with Nestor as Dugan glass compared to 7 as Northwood glass.

Well I just experienced my first earthquake – a little scary. Thankfully no damage anywhere but it is a wake-up call to get an earthquake kit together, they keep saying we are due for a big one.
Jim, why would they blow up the dam if it overflowed? Hope all will be okay for all the folks that are in harms way.
I have this blue pitcher, EAPG I think. I thought this would be easy to id but not finding it. I see similar, but nothing exactly the same. Has some gold trim left, not sure if the white design would be original. Hoping someone will know this. This is 8 1/2" in height to the spout.
Delete is my friend,lol.

Hi All, Lots of reading to catch up on. I didn't notice the glass collection photos on the welcome page before - wow, some beautiful glass!
Ginnyrose, you should check out 'black aurora borealis', that is what your pieces look like to me.
Great sale Alicia, although I think I would have a hard time selling those, they look gorgeous.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

Thanks George - I bought that book when I got my first piece. Yes Gail, the candle stick is 15315; the comport is 15319; centre handle is 15179; and the mayo/whipped cream bowl is 15310, all made in Factory K Pittsburgh PA. Not sure about the cutting/design on the comport, if that was done in another factory or by another company.

@songbreeze I will include the info tomorrow. I know the bowl is a mayonnaise bowl, should have the underplate and spoon/ladle, made by US Glass. I got the compote in Maine a couple of years ago. The candlestick doesn't have the two tone colours, but fits in well.

So excited to find this centre handle dish today as I rarely find this glass around here - I have 3 other pieces I have picked up over the last couple of years. I should look on-line but I'm worried that I might get a broken piece. I haven't looked in my US Glass book for this so I'm not sure if this is Tiffin or US Glass.

@wattleihavenext Julie when you mention spring is in the air, I chuckle - I am just finishing stacking 10 cords of wood for the coming winter and wishing spring was coming here.

I hope this works. This is one of the deer that hangs out on my property - I pick up the apples that have fallen from the trees and put them out in the front yard for them. Where the trees are have deer fencing so they can't get in, the front yard I left wild with no fences. I figure we can all co-exist.

I can't remember that last time I came across a true antique store, most have to sell modern and retro items to make their rent every month. The thing that I hate to see is when people sell off beautiful little silver pieces, like vinaigrettes or match safes for example, to the guys that just melt them down. Once they are gone they are gone forever.

@wattleihavenext 'Put a piece of glass c. 1880 on the table and another piece C.1970 and the 1970 will sell first'
That is so true Julie, and it will usually sell for a good amount of money. -

@shellyrae37 I haven't found your atomizer yet, but I'll keep looking. I have a couple of bottles I'm trying to id so maybe I can kill two birds with one stone. I get a Czech feel from looking at yours, but I could be way off on that.

Gee, I haven't been here since I signed up! So sorry to read of the passing of Lucy/Lucysgoodies, sounds like she was well liked and will be missed by all.
Shelly I have a few books on perfume bottles at my store so I will check tomorrow and see if your lovely bottle is in one of them.
