• Good Morning. All you can smell here is bushfires. The air quality is very poor, filled with smoke and dust. When is this madness going to end? I think Mother Nature has forgotten how to rain down here. I think maybe she has cried that much about what we have done to this country and she has run out of tears. I hang my head in shame that our Government thinks more of big Coal Companies and their greed then they do of our farmers and our rivers.......but that's a different story and this is not the place.

I took my 2 friends for the hike up the mountain yesterday . It took us 2 hours up and back. They did struggle which was totally expected. But they did not give up and they did it. I told them, compared to the mountains in Nepal, here in Aus ours are speed humps. LOL They have about 6 months to get ready. If they want it badly enough they will train and do what is required to be ready.
Gai @gailmacphee Nice to see you. Please visit here more often, I am sorry to hear about your DH. It can be hard work caring for another but I am so pleased you can still get out and about treasuring hunting.
    Jim @dorbitz nice shades
Hi Shelly @shellyrae37 Good to see you pop in for a visit. It is very quiet here these days. The hike yesterday was just a little teaser for my friends and a very small fraction of what we will be doing in Nepal.
My family is doing well. Kids are growing

  • Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Marson @panishklo and to Gail Mac @gailmacphee!!!

@shellyrae37 Shelly, glad you were able to stop by!!

Drizzly this morning in NJ. Already had a full morning -- Yoga class at 7:45AM and then raced home to get DH to his CRT (cognitive rehab therapy) session. No session on Thursday as his therapist will be with her little one for Halloween.

  • Gail @gailmacphee I am glad you found your way back here, so I baked you a cake 😀

  • Its been a number of years since we have seen them BUT anyway hopefully they may see this. Happy Birthday to Chris @collectibles4utwo and Gail @gailmacphee

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac -- Happy Birthday!!

Nice and sunny today, going up to 70. Lots of leaves down from the rain and wind, but no damage. Guess I'll have to start raking.

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac... and where have you been keeping yourself all these months. Wishing you a very...

    !*!*!* HAPPY BIRTHDAY! *!*!*!

  • Good afternoon everyone. Tuesday is no my day for babysittng the DGK so I have been busy having fun with them all day.
It has been raining non stop all day. We have had drizzle, we've had heavy down pours and also thunder and lightening. Seems this weather has brought the Kangaroos up to DD's yard.Saw a mother and her baby this arvo.
Don @donscns I love your DDG pitcher
    Irene @jmart8248 It's very easy staying cool today. It's only 18°Celsius (64° F)
Wendy @wjweese No I wasn't really disappointed that much.I still sold enough to make it worth while.Just not as much as I usually do. I had a lovely time, caught up with friends and acquaintances that collect or sell. After we set up our stalls we sit around and have a nice chat while enjoying a beer or a nice glass or two of champagne. I cooked a delicious meal, which was fresh Australian Tasmanian Salmon served on cucumber spaghetti and topped with home made sauce and fresh baked beetroot. My friends that joined me for this meal have not long been back from a River Cruise in Europe. They said my meal was equivalent to what they were served on their 5 star cruise 🙂 I was pretty pleased with that 😀 I must admit it was very very delicious, even if i say so myself 🙂
    Carl @carma brrrrrrr
Gail @gailmacphee , Nancy @jerseystar27 and anyone else experiencing extreme weather conditions. Stay warm and stay safe
Gail @songbreeze I am so pleased that everything is looking positive. Continued positive thoughts and more ((((((hugs)))))) sent your way
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies.

JULIE ... a relaxing Sunday sounds perfect!. Thanks for the coffee. I slept more than 10 hours the past 2 nights and it surely felt good.

@gailmacphee GailMac ... If you look at the tabs up above on the right, the web master placed a new one called IMAGE WIZARD. It's super. Instead of putting your link here on the board, you put it on the image wizard page. You click CLICK HERE and it converts your link. Copy that link and past it here.... it will make your picture show up so everyone can see it.

  • Gail Mac @gailmacphee Finally after several tries, tinypics finally oaded for me. Nope not what I was thinking, I was visualising Davidson's Pearline after Fenton said maybe English.
    Julie

  • Good Morning everyone. Its hot here already and its only 8a.m. We received a bit of rain again last night
Don @donscns & Shelly @shellyrae37 No I won't forget us Tea drinkers. Actually I am sitting here having a Lemon & Ginger tea atm 🙂
Gail Mac @gailmacphee I always have problems with tinypics so can not see your item. But I'll try again later. If its English then there is a good chance it could be Davidson's Pearline
    Julie

  • Good Morning everyone. WOW have we copped some rain since yesterday. I have been tossing up whether to travel 5 hours west to do a swapmeet this weekend or travel 2 hours north on the coast to have a weekend away with cousins. By the look of our weather report I may just stay put.
Reen @reen Oh my that is just too sad, to think that this is what things have come to. That the schools are drilling the teachers and pupils on gun shooting How very very sad 🙁 🙁 🙁
Gail @gailmacphee I am forever having issues with tinyPic and your pics will not load for me Tinypics is too busy loading up the slotmachine games to entice me and an advert for Asian Date.com
    Julie

  • @gailmacphee Gail the handles are applied. TAGF say that one is American Sweerhart style. The applied handles there are the reeded ones.

  • @gailmacphee : the etch may be Lotus Bridal Wreath but I am not sure. These old eyes just tired and I can't find my magnifying glass. LOL

  • @gailmacphee Gail the glass is Paden City. I do not recall the pattern right off. The etch is likely also PC
    george

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac, I've tracked down some information on your open salt. I have the same piece but in vaseline (which I know isn't old). First I went through Heacock's 5,000 Open Salts and didn't find it. Then I finally remembered where I'd found it, in Dave Peterson's Vaseline Book. The pattern is Star Dewdrop and was made in colors (and possibly crystal) by Degenhart and then Boyd (mine is probably Degenhart as it isn't marked). In searching on eBay, I found a bunch of the Boyd and then one in crystal plus some additional pieces that said they were made by Campbell Jones Glass Co. of Pittsburgh. That's not a company I've heard of (but that doesn't mean anything). Not sure how to tell if you have the older ones.

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY ... Just LOVE your lamps. I know you must have been thrilled to get them. Sorry I can't help with an ID on them, but I think they will sell themselves anyway. Wouldn't they have been beautiful at Christmas.........actually Valentine's Day is coming up!

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I tried looking for your open salt but I wasn't quite certain what its shape was and if it had a flat base or if it was footed. Anyway, I'm not real familiar with open salts and have limited resources to search for them.

Saying HI to ALL glassies. Just been a busy day and my last ounce of energy is just about spent. 🙂

  • Good morning, glassies. Too cold for words. My sister's DBF came over and they helped get my hot water pipes unfrozen. The weather is so bitter that it broke my resolve and I've let the outdoor cat come into the house. Had to spend some time adjusting the dog and 2 cats to her presence.

Trying to find out the pattern to this shaker. When I bought it I thought it was Hocking in the 4 piece set that has Dove and Quail etc. as seen in HMW2. It's shaped like Quail but totally different pattern that I can't match to any pattern I know.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... Good Gravy! Congratulations on the New Martinsville! Would have walked right past it without a clue!

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... I didn't recognize the new avatar and for a minute thought it was our poker player JIM. Once I caught on it was you I was reminded of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. 🙂

@fyrqueen KATIE ... ai-yi-yi can't imagine those leg presses. Surely hope the PT is strengthening you and making for better mobility.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... yum yum yum Red Lobster CHeese Biscuits sound super. Herbal garlic butter is just garlic butter with some extra herbs thrown in...maybe a bit of parsley or the like.

@fran2 FRAN 2... Since the Catalonian sticker says "Reproduction....Old Spanish." people don't realize that it is NOT a reproduction piece in the sense we think of reproductions today and often give it a cheap price tag. I got lucky and got a lovely vase for $10 that I sold for over $100.

@reen REEN ... I'd just use both Pitcher / Ewer to cover my bases. 🙂

HI to CARL, DON, and GEORGE!

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY ... There's a lady on FB that knew Lucy's family. I don't know if she is still in touch but I sent her a message and asked so hopefully she will respond.

    @suzy SUZY ... what a sweet kitty-kitty. I can't get Blue to sit still for a photo.

@wjweese WENDY ... I'm not quite as detailed as you, but nonetheless, I keep a record of what has been sent for birthdays and Christmas of 7 adults and 7 grandchildren.

@sellingthings MARTY ... love the photo of your furkids too!

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... Like Wendy, I don't worry about a repeat of items with the family. But I SURE have done that with glass! I hate when I don't remember I already have a piece in a pattern and buy a second one. I just did that with 2 Aztec cruets. What makes it so bad is that Aztec is a design I'm not even particularly fond of.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... you always have pretty pieces of glass, but never any that I know an ID for! Sorry I can't be of help.

    Hi, GEORGE!

  • Good afternoon everyone. The rain has stopped and we have had a gorgeous sunny day so far. But more rain to come, so they say.
Been my usual busy Wednesday morning, leaving home at 4a.m and just getting home @ 3p.m. An hour swim, coffee breakfast afterwards. Then a 2hour walk. Met up with DD & grandkids for Miss P's Sporty Kids After that another breakfast with DD and grandkids at the beach kiosk, Drive back to the ocean pool with Miss P and more swimming with her, home to DD's and more swimming in her pool with the grandkids. I am now enjoying a protein and fruit shake to keep my energy levels up LOL
Gail @gailmacphee what an interesting vase! I kind of like it 🙂 Clueless as to make but if it were mine I'd start looking into the Scandie makers

    I hope all are well
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies. Got the dog off to the groomers and later I have a doctor's appointment...just a follow-up. Hope to work on some glass today for either listing or tagging for my booths.

@carma CARL ... I have never seen a Carnival Glass epergne....guess it never even crossed my mind that epergnes were made in carnival glass. Those photos are just spectacular. I'll sure open my eyes wider when I'm out treasure hunting.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I have no idea about your vase. I really really like the looks of it which surprises me because I don't usually bond with contemporary or modern looking glass. I know nothing about that kind of glass, but something makes me think Scandanavian. It sure is pretty.

HI to JULIE, GEORGE, and LAINEY!

  • @gailmacphee Festoon a Beatty Brady pattern.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... sorry, I can't help with your shot glass. It does have a bit of the Moondrops look, but it's missing the rings that encircle the glass in that pattern, so I doubt it is NM.

@favoritegram LAINEY ... I continue to be of no help. 🙁 Very unusual pattern and texture, but I'm not familiar with it.

@jerseystar NANCY P ... I have the Shetlar book but I think there is more to see on the website ... http://www.shetlarglass.com/stretchglass/SGCompanies/SGID01.htm

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac and @collectibles4utwo Chris, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Wishing you both a wonderful day.

  • Well just as predicted we got a good storm and it is still happening over an hour after it started. Lots of torrential rain, strong gusty winds and some minor flash flooding and plenty of thunder and lightening. I had an appointment to go to right when the worst of it hit here. I got soaked to the skin just by running a few metres to the car And I had an umbrella which proved totally useless because of the force and angle of the rain and wind. The local Supermarket just 1 klms up the road closed its doors because their roof collapsed. Not sure how much damage or how severe it is.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAIL MAC @gailmacphee
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS @collectibles4utwo

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE … so sorry those bush fires are being fanned by wind. Hope it can be contained soon.

@carma CARL and @gailmacphee GAIL MAC … really enjoyed hearing of the buying and selling adventures. Extremely interesting!

@fyrqueen KATIE … sorry you had a day of ”no replies” but congrats on raising the price on your plates and selling them! 🙂 @jmart8248 IRENE M … that was really splendid advice.

@1citydude TINCEY … yikes! are you all going to be sitting out all day Friday and Saturday? Sure hope the weather stays good for you and that you have lots of sales.

    HI there to GEORGE!

  • Oh, I'm all tuckered out. I got my bedroom project all completed and am very happy. Now to deal with my front room as that's where a bunch of stuff from the bedroom ended up. 😮

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... thanks for the picture of the teapot. I know nothing about pottery and china and such so I really enjoy learning about something new to me. Very pretty.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... faint, faint, faint, faint..... What a sell! I'd have had a heart attack!

Have to figure out how to buy airline tickets online. Getting ready to plan my trip to the East Coast.

  • Good evening, glassies. Just exhausted. We had a picture-perfect day and the Oktoberfest was a good success. Have to hit the bed soon as we are having Mass 2 hours earlier tomorrow than usual.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC … the #655 three-light candelabra was made ca. 1946 to the early 1950s by New martinsville Glass Mfg. Co. BV = $10-15 . Can be found in TCSB III by Felt/Stoer page 91.

  • @gailmacphee ... I am terribly lazy and I HATE confrontation so I what I'd do (which most would consider HORRIBLE advice) is refund her 40% (so I could put the aggravation behind me) and never ever again offer international shipping. 😮

    HI to GEORGE and WENDY!

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... Thanks for the picture of the entire item. It is Tiffin's #15042 with the ATHENS DIANA etch...click on the Iced Tea to see the image. http://www.replacements.com/webquote/TIFATD.htm#1937178

@fyrqueen KATIE ... just went through 62 pages of etches at ChatAbout with no luck. Doesn't mean it's not there because I was getting cross-eyed looking. Also tried the Lotus decoration book.

    Time for a nap!

  • Good morning, glassies. Horrible time sleeping last night and didn’t get up til 11:15 am. I’m running so far behind now. 😮

@gailmacphee GAIL … I’m only seeing the top portion of your stemware…I can’t see the stem or foot. Without seeing the entire thing there’s so way I can give an accurate ID. I’d be looking at Tiffin with the Diana etch in the meantime.

  • @gailmacphee Gail --- Beautiful lilies and perfect for the season.

  • Good morning/afternoon, glassies.

@ohiostar FENTON ... had to scroll down to see what JULIE was commenting on. Don't know how I missed your post. Terrific flying nude...I've never seen it, not even in a book, in ruby. What a sale!

@donscns DON ... I'm always tired after a vacation. I think we pack so much into such a short time...whether it's the sightseeing or visiting with friends and relatives...or even the planning, the packing, the traveling. It's just intense energy constantly.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... superb rainbow! I just love when I see one.

@fyrqueen KATIE .... good luck on the box lot. Hope you are feeling better.

    HI to CARL and GEORGE!

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY ... You snuck a post in there when I was answering Fran2 and I just now saw it when I refreshed. The first blanket with the little tulips I made for my East Coast 4 year old granddaughter, the second blue blanket I made for my East Coast 16 month old grandson. This blanket I made for my West Coast 2 year old granddaughter and I'm getting ready to start one for the newest little West Coast 2 month old granddaughter.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... glad you got a response from Replacements. Did they tell you if they were considered cordials? Yes, you surely got a super deal!

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I suggest that you send a photo with measurements to Replacements and ask them what it is. THey will answer you if they know.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I have the 12th ed of TAGF Elegant book but he only lists the older versions of the Fostoria 6016 and he doesn't list anything with your size. Definitely NOT a roemer. Can't find that size in the Fostoria Stemware book, nor on Replacements. I'm scratching my head. Can you just go back and measure its size and capacity for a second time to double check?

@fran2 FRAN2 ... thanks, and yes, I'm definitely taking it easy.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC … this link is about Italian rose bowls, but it also has interesting iniformation on the mother-of-pearl treatment and just might help you make some comparisons. http://www.glass.co.nz/rosebowls.htm

@wattleihavenext JULIE … Happy Australia Day!

@allirish123 TRACY … your pictures loading so slow that it keeps timing out on me before I can see the picture.

HI to HELEN, REEN, and BILL!

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac, I'm pretty sure that's the piece that's on Fran's look-a-like page (top row): http://www.candlewicklookalikes.com/Page2.html

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... PRINCESS FEATHER two-lite candelabra by Westmoreland. ca 1939 to early 1950s.. BV $40-$50

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... sorry, I'm just of no help. I can't make out the pattern well enough in the photo to hazard a guess if it's old or new, American or European. If it is truly old cut glass, then I know nothing at all about it. All I can do is offer you two websites to look at until someone comes along who can help.
    http://abpglass.com/

  • Good Morning everyone. I was up & at 'em early this morning. Went to a deceased estate but was that few minutes too late, arriving as one of the local dealers here was loading his ute.
Amber @amber1986 Glad you are back 🙂 I don't have Windows 8 I have Windows 7, came with my new computer and I am happy with it.
Gail @gailmacphee I would just hold my breath and wait the required amount of time to see if he/she pays. If they don't then I would start a NPB claim. I don't think they can leave you feedback if a NPB claim has been filed against them.
Bob @baabaamason YEAH!!!!! I think I have fixed the problem I have been having viewing your pics which have always been showing absolutely huuuuuuge on my screen . I started to play around with your last image. AS I said before that if I would right click & hold I would get a small thumbnail pic show up on top of the huge pic. Anyway The maginfying icon was of no use, it just made it even bigger. But just now I notice a little magnifying glass icon in the right hand corner of the URL section, where there is usually a star icon to bookmark the webpage. I clicked on the magnifying icon and VOILA your pics are normal. HAPPY DAYS!!!
    Julie

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC … I’d wait and see if he pays. If so, there is no problem. If he doesn’t pay, I’d file a case with eBay for NPB. If he then left a negative, I’d open a case against him to get the FB removed.

My second Tuesday buyer finally paid so it's back to the Post Office with me. Not complaining though...it's always good to be paid. 🙂

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... if you use the eBay app ShipSaver, you can insure International First Class Mail. You will find the apps listed in My eBay...it's the 4th tab.

  • Gail @gailmacphee I have never had any problems with Aus Post. Had some glass arrive broken once but that was the packers fault.2 pieces of glass in a box with nothing between them, so they moved about in transit and of course damaged one & other. I made a claim & I was refunded. BTW fragile stickers mean diddly squat. No such service is available with Aus Post, (this was what I was told once LOL)
With selling for over 10 years I have had to deal with Aus Post only a few times, usually lost parcel and they have always been very easy to deal with.Just a couple of weeks ago I had emailed them about a parcel in transit and the next day I receive a phone call from a very pleasant man to talk about the problem. All fixed not a worry. I am not sure who makes the claim for your incident . Not sure whether it is from this end or your end? Maybe ask your buyer to contact Aus Post and see what can be done this end https://contactus.auspost.com.au/
    Julie

  • Good evening....almost good night! I've been gone all day and half the evening. Made runs to 2 of the malls I'm in. Had a women's church meeting. Met with my sister for supper and gabbed forever...fun! Finally home.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... don't know if you saw that BOB glass*usa ID'd your cornucopia vase at 8:00 pm

Going to go make a cup of hot chocolate and crash in my recliner. 🙂

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac, check out the Crinkled & Wrinkled website for your four tumblers: http://home.comcast.net/~mfreier/

  • Just now getting back to the computer as it turned out to be a very busy evening.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I had 2 months of such horrible sales on eBay that I lost my discount. It discouraged me so that I closed my eBay store and opened one on Ruby Lane. I will just do the free auction listings on eBay when I decide I want to auction something rather than give it a fixed price.

HELLO to ALL glassies and SUE @mainewildrose I agree with LAINEY that you ought to write a guide/review on King's Crown for eBay.

  • Good Morning everyone Predicted severe storms at midday for here. Strong winds, flash flooding and large hail they say. As usual here in my suburb we will probably only get the tail end of it. Just as long as we get some rain, I'll be happy.
I received an email yesterday from one of my buyers (waterford Goblet) Their DD broke the one they purchased of me and they were asking if I had any more to sell them. Yes I sure do! I have 2 . Now how do I go about this through ebay? Do I use that 2nd chance offer I see on My eBay?
Don @donscns Take it easy chopping that firewood You know how you felt afterwards last time 😉
Gail @gailmacphee I do like those candle holders

  • Computer time & lunch 🙂
Gail @gailmacphee your post made me smile re " I didn’t want to break into a full run, I was younger, my feet just wouldn’t move fast enough." Yes for sure, the fun days LOL I remember them well Had many of those kinda moments LOL
Nancy @jerseystar27 Glad you have power back.I hope everything will be back to normal very soon for you and your families.
    Julie

  • Happy Sunday all!

@gailmacphee Gail: I read your thread on the PG&P board...interesting that Tom/cherryhill is not familiar with Blue Del...as, although I don't know him personally, I do believe he is quite the glass expert! Which really makes me think that pieces with the Blue Del label still intact, are far and few between, and that, perhaps, alot of cranberry crackle glass especially, gets misidentified as Blenko or Rainbow. I have seen the pinched tumblers like you have, and also thought them to be Blenko. When I googled Blue Del, not many links came up for it...but that is how I found your thread...lol. I have a glass acquaintance here in OK. that specializes in crackle glass....I consider her pretty much of an expert on crackle.

    this was her listing...http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEAUTIFUL-BLUE-DEL-CRACKLE-GLASS-DECANTER-STOPPER-W-APPLIED-RIGAREE-VERY-OLD-/121004203353?item=121004203353&lgeo=1&ViewItem=&vectorid=229466&nma=true&si=%2FyAW5Iupsnij8Hwhd8TWaEp3YF4%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

  • Hello all!

Congrats to you Gail @songbreeze on your first sale on RL! Way to go!

@amber1986 Amber...so very glad to hear that you came out of that mess fairly unscathed...so glad you decided to evacuate! And you are sure right about Mother Nature!

@gailmacphee Gail, I collect cranberry crackle, which doesn't mean I know much about it, except that I love it! I haven't seen too many pieces with the Blue Del label still on it, but have heard of the maker, and have a decanter similar to that one. The stopper doesn't look like the original to me...but again, what do I know?!...lol. If I were you, I would sell the tumblers together, as one has the label, and assures the maker. You may want to sell the decanter with the cordials, or sometimes it's better separately, as someone may just need the decanter OR the cordials. Perhaps even selling the cordials in sets of 4? Sorry I couldn't help much, but thanks for sharing is as I always enjoy seeing cranberry crackle!

  • Oh my word, what a beautiful day it has been today. 65° and just perfect. I headed out and visited several surrounding towns and stopped at seven different malls/flea markets. Spent the entire day on the road and it was just lovely.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... thanks for the encouragement on my RL store. It's a bit more convaluted in the selling what with purchase orders etc. but well worth it not to have to jack my prices up to include "free" shipping. And not only not having to pay FVF on the item, but not having to pay it on the shipping too!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... hmmmmm, I don't know what pop-ups you were seeing on that site. I don't like pop-ups either.

@reen REEN .... teehee, yes I've been to a ton of places, is it any wonder I'm tired all the time? Still recuperating from all the travel... 🙂

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... thanks so much for letting us know that AMBER is ok. I only list items I have right here in the house as when I go to write the descriptions I have to have the item in my hand to take the measurements and check for any flaws. Now my fear is just the reverse....forget I have it listed and take it to one of the malls!. 😮

@amber1986 AMBER ... well, as I scroll up the board, I see your post. So very glad that power is back up and you are well.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... so sorry that I'm just no help on art glass and crackle glass. Hopefully someone will show up soon who can help. Lovely pieces.

HI to DON, KATIE, GEORGE, MARTY, and IRENE M.

  • Good afternoon everyone I am later then normal scrolling the board.

I hope everyone in the path of Sandy stays safe.

Rose @memoriesofyesterdays Welcome to the board

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY
    GAIL @gailmacphee
    &
    CHRIS @collectibles4utwo

  • Good evening Glass Friends,

    @gailmacphee Gail Mac & @collectibles4utwo Chris — HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

@mactiki Don't know what they are but I really like those.---- A member of Advertising Collectibles says they are guinna hens.

@reen The really good part of this is this son-in-law has never shown such enthusiasm for father child activities. His DD, the mother of the child , even wondered if he would really care about a grandchild. This is what I meant when I said being a great-grandparent was even better than being a grandparent. It is such fun to watch the grandparents and the aunts and uncles and the great aunts and great uncles.

@jerseystar27 Thanks for the @gailmacphee Gail Mac & @collectibles4utwo . I had looked for them for when I posted their birthday greetings.I see that they have now posted but thanks anyway.

@memoriesofyesterdays Rose ,Welcome. Come back soon and often. Beautiful bowl. I love yellow.

Happy to report that a package shipped to Bankok Thailand on Oct. 23 by International First Class has arrived and buyer posted feedback.
Also happy to report that an item that got a low offer was purchased by another buyer at full price.

I think I'll go read my news magazine. Have one more ad to write. Maybe later or maybe tomorrow mum.

  • @gailmacphee – Your peach opal carnival bowl is Bells and Beads by Dugan

  • @gailmacphee Gail, and @jmart8248 Irene, I think it does not matter what you put in your TOS eBay is going to go with the buyer. Sorry but the occasional return is one of those things that is sometimes referred to as " Sxxx Happens."

As for today's events --- I remembered why I like to print my shipping label through eBay rather than PayPal. The email for the Delivery Confirmation has the name of the item and other pertinent information. PayPal printed shipping labels has only the delivery confirmation number.

  • @gailmacphee Gail, I think it depends on your return shipping terms. Mine say that "Buyer pays return shipping." In other words I refund the cost of the item plus outward bound shipping.

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac - I have listed on Webstore for a while - nothing spectacular but have sold some bigger ticket items ( > $60.00) easily. Good communications with Buyers & their clientele do ask questions about items listed.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... I opened a store on Webstore some time back and had some stuff in it for a couple of months, but very little traffic and nothing sold. Haven't put anything else in lately. I bought 2 things from one person and had a very nice transaction. Bought something else from another person, they never sent it. Luckily I had paid with PayPal and got a total refund.

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE ... oh wow! I see where you got an new Tablet. I've very curious of how difficult the learning curve is for one. Do you just love it? So very sorry to hear that MaryPat has had surgery. THank you so much for keeping us updated. Hope we hear from Fran soon, too.

Well, I see everyone covered the postage refund issue. I, too, have twice canceled and international label. Really worried me the first time when it took so long to refund. The second time I knew it was only a matter of patience so I didn't fret.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... so very sorry you are suffering so from your allergies. Surely hope it starts to improve soon.

@abzoid TOBY ... You have earned a well-deserved rest after the 3-day Glass Show. So pleased it all went well. Sure wish gas wasn't as high as it is and one could just jump up and tootle off to various shows and conventions.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... those are 2 absolutely gorgeous stems!!! Wouldn't I love coming across something like them in my searches!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... How wonderful that your granddaughter made 2 sales! It's always a great encouragement...and surely gets one hooked on eBay

@reen REEN ... looks like the sale is really nicely set up. Do hope it is very successful for you all.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... oh, I did NOT see it had a reserve. That makes me feel MUCH better as I kind of drooped when I saw that low price for it. I'm hoping for a better sale when I eventually put my set together.

  • Good evening Glass Friends,

Had worked on Fixed Price listing much of today. Then much later I worked on deleting images form Auctiva. Can't always find them when I know they must be there.

Later we went to a birthday party for a great grandson. Eleven year old boys have lots of energy. But a very pleasant dozen or so youngsters. And had a pleasant visit with family members that i jhad not seen in a few weeks.

@wellingtonct -- Laurie, It is about time you showed up. Nice to know that you are still navigating. Well she showed up on the Book Board.

@gailmacphee Gail Mac, Maybe the colored tickets will encourage dealers to move their stuff around from one mall to another.

Still it is fun to reminisce about what 'used to' sell---- hickory and oak furniture and even a spot there when mahogany furniture sold well. I really have no idea what kind of furniture is selling now. And then there was two of my favorites ---granite ware and teddy bears,

Time for my bed and book. I'm really ready for it tonight.

  • Good morning/afternoon, glassies. Been up and at it early and already to the Post Office, a fizzled yard sale, and back home again. Ready to start taking more pictures and listing.

@favoritegram LAINEY ... Why don't you send a pic to Replacements and ask them? I keep thinking Fostoria, but could find nothing in that clear/amber or with that cut. I focused for some time on #5082 with no luck and finally looked through #660. I really think it could possibly be #660 but still couldn't find anything. Of course, I could be completely off and just have tunnel vision for Fostoria. Sorry, I couldn't be of anymore help.

@amber1986 AMBER ... hope all goes well on your trip. I know your Uncle will surely appreciate your support.

@donscns DON ... hope the knee brace is continuing to give you improvement.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... I've had that difference in eBay/PayPal at least a half a dozen times. Irritating. I just had to email the Buyer, let them know the discrepancy, and wait for them to notify me which address it should be sent to.

@jerseystar NANCY P ... have fun on your weekend get-a-way!

HI to KATIE, HELEN, MARTY & GEORGE!

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... someone sent me this email pic and I could SOOOOO relate to it...perhaps you can too. 😆 http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/4/4/3/3/6/9/webimg/591914026_o.jpg

  • Went to Church this morning and then my friend came by afterward for a visit. We then went to the mall before I took her home. 106° today. Needless to say we only went to the one mall and both decided we would go to our homes and sit in front of our air conditioners. 🙂

@10bbg10 HELEN … I do wish I were there to help you with the profiles and then from those to put together you Master Profiles. It took me quite some time to get it figured out, but I just love using them.

@gailmacphee GAIL … I won’t get a smart phone because they cost so much and because I’m too dumb to figure out how to use…but I sure wish I had one just so I don’t get stuck overpaying. I did the same thing just a week ago. Saw my first ruby-stained King’s Crown juice glass. Got excited, bought it, came home and hit the internet…and then slapped myself in the forehead as I had paid too much!

@donscns DON … Percy is adorable! We used to have a Springer Spaniel…one smart dog, for sure.

    @jerseystar NANCY P … love the children’s sets!

HI to AMBER, MARTY, KATIE, SHELLY, GEORGE & REEN!

  • @gailmacphee Sounds like Dugan's Fisherman mug. check doty.

  • @gailmacphee Gail - have you checked out the ChatAboutDG site Gallery for Cambridge etches?

  • @gailmacphee Most of my auctions / listing have free shipping and all have the 14 day return. I did not say so in my ads but I had accepted returns even before eBay began promoting the 14 day thing. The ease of shipping clothing was the main reason I started selling clothing.
Yes, I think the buyer always has the upper hand. In my recent imbroglio I kept telling the buyer to 'send it back.' I felt sure that she had worn the dress. It was clean and in beautiful condition when we shipped it. She thought it unfair that she would have to go to that trouble and expense. eBay refunded her money but did not charge me for the refund.
I did not get any pictures made today. I needed a dark back ground cloth for my little studio corner. Had to hunt around to find just the right piece of cloth. I got that done and have everything in readiness for tomorrow.
Time for my 'bed and book.'

  • @gailmacphee : You're so right. It was once so much fun & we loved every minute of it. Some of my fondest memories involve the anticipation and the thrill of the hunt. Back in the 70's, 80's & even into the 90's, you LOVED getting up early & hitting the road to find treasures. All the while that you were driving to the flea or show, the adrenalin flowed in anticipation of what you were going to find. Notice that I said "WHAT" you were going to find. The question of "IF you were going to find anything never entered into it, because good, saleable, quality items were abundant then & you KNEW you were going to come home with stuff. You could pick & choose what to buy. You were really only limited by how much you could afford to spend.

That aspect of the business is all but gone now. You can go out now & hunt for days, see nothing but cheap, worthless, crud and come home empty handed. In the process you burned up $100. worth of gas or more. You find yourself thinking as you head out on a buying jaunt, "Boy, I sure hope this will be worthwhile". That eager anticipation, that adrenalin flow, that excitement, isn't there anymore. A lot of the fun of the antiques business is gone now.

  • Good morning, glassies. We're still slogging around in the heat. Suppose to be cooler today...only in the mid-90s.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... have to say another congratulations as I see I spelled your ID wrong last night! Fun sale to watch!

@carma CARL ... hope you and DW have a profitable and fun flea market tomorrow.

@donscns DON ... any improvement with the eye yet?

Don't understand how someone can have time to hit a BIN but no time to immediately pay!?! grumble....

HI to HELEN, NANCYJEAN, & GEORGE !

  • @gailmacphee GAIL & @george GEORGE ... I had read about the "thundershirt" also, but I haven't known anyone who has used one. Would be very interesting to see how well it works. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=thundershirt&_sacat=20742&_odkw=dog+thunder&_osacat=20742

  • Good Morning everyone. brrrr chilly here this morning 5░ C
Gail @songbreeze Yes I am heading off tomorrow, my Wednesday. Heading north so it will be warmer It's 7░C there atm 🙂
Don @donscns I hope your eye gets better soon.
I think I will probably get Grandma withdrawals while I am away for 4 weeks. Can't imagine not seeeing Miss P for 4 whole weeks. SHe will be so grown up by the time I get home
Helen @10bbg10 The swapmeets I do which are outside, some do have security walking around, some don't.I don't pack up each night when doing them. I have covers that I clamp over. But you sleep lightly listening. At the swaps I have tables to carry and I have a lot more stock to set up.It is harder work. The Antique & Collectables Show the tables are supplied and set up and I do not take near as much stock. So compared to the work I put in for the swapmeets this was easy.
Suzy @suzy I am glad you liked my glass. I too love green glass but thinning my collections out a bit.
Katie @fyrqueen Great find. That's something I would love to have in my kitchen. That is if i was still cluttering it LOL
    Gail @gailmacphee DDG
    Julie

  • @shellyrae37 Hope you can get some of that much needed rest now that the birthday party for you MIL is finished.

@fyrqueen Katie , I hope that garage has some good auto diagnostic tools so they can get your car on the go again. Even if I'm not going anywhere I don't like to think about being with out transportation.

@wattleihavenext Julie, Your booth display is neat. Some clever ideas there. I was confused though I thought you were already of on your
    vacation trip.

@gailmacphee Pretty and interesting cup/saucer set. I've never seen a set like that.

I have been trying to convince a prospective buyer that she has my very best counter offer on an item. She keeps upping her offer a bit.I think maybe she has used all of her offer opportunities. We'll see.

Been working steadily on my book database. Hope to have that all up to date by the end of this week.

  • Okay, hi all!

This is weird. Sold an item on the 24th, printed the label and shipped on the 25th. I took it the post office and because the box was really big and wouldn't fit in the parcel drop box in the lobby, I took into the main part of the post office and set it up on the counter, right beside a clerk who was busy with another customer. I've done this lots of times with big boxes w/prepaid labels. On the 27th I got positive feedback from the buyer "100%". Today I got an email from that same buyer saying she hasn't received her item! Indeed, when I checked, the tracking number link shows it was never scanned. Not when I dropped it off and not when it was delivered. It's insured!

@gailmacphee - yep, air twist stem.

  • @gailmacphee Gail I believe that is called an air twist stem...but I don't know the maker. If you search air twist glass on ebay some similar looking ones come up

  • Home from the hunt.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... you are glad that I left without you! There was nothing to be found on the search and it is 96° outdoors. I am home...happily at home... even happier yet sitting in front of my a/c at home. 🙂

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... sorry, I'm not familiar with that jadite canister set so have no idea if it's old or new.

@10bbg10 HELEN ... I subscribe to email updates from Auctionbytes/Ecommercebytes . http://www.auctionbytes.com/ on the left side you will see where it says "Auction Sites". On the 2nd page you will see Webstores. I actually signed up for Webstores back in August because I wanted to buy something. When I went to check the other day and scroll around the site, I saw they had a tutorial for how to sell and set up a store it seemed pretty simple. It was easy. 1,000 times easier than trying to set up the eBay store. Only allows 4 photos, but that didn't bother me. The only cost is $10 via PayPal if you want to be "Verified." That was easy too.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... It does have a name, EAGLE aka FEDERAL EAGLE. Can be seen in Tom Felt's L.E. Smith Glass Company: the First One Hundred Years on page 253

@sjell BETTY ... always good to see you!. Sorry I can't help with your item...to me when I see one like that I simply think "Bohemian, ruby cut-to-clear." Rather generic thought, but that's the best I manage to come up with. They are so very pretty.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... well, you should check L.E. Smith's #4570 EAGLE aka FEDERAL EAGLE sherbets to see if they match yours. It would be colonial blue and was made ca. 1967-1970.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... need to see a picture showing the stemware in silhouette. Seeing what the stem itself looks like is most important. LE Smith did an "eagle" pattern, but still, need to see the whole glass.

  • Good morning, glassies. I'm just slow and tired this morning and think I won't answer the phone all day today. 🙂 Will be interesting to see if I get anything accomplished today other than just sitting at my computer, staring into space, and sipping coffee.

The seller I bought the damaged bottle from sure was nice and refunded my money with no hassle.

@4931nextdoor ALICIA ... ah, the hardest bid to get is that very first one. I get frustrated when I have lots of watchers and no bid as I, too, think that the exposure on The Collector's Weekly helps. Good luck with your listings.

@donscns DON ... so pleased to hear you had such a fine experience with your latest purchase. You've really had some disappointments in the past.

@abzoid TOBY ... best of luck on the auctions. Hope you will be posting pictures of new acquisitions soon!

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... If only 2 or 3 of the items in Clum's auction showed up at a local auction, all of us dealers in this area would be trampling each other to get to it. I just can't fathom hundreds of gorgeous items all at once. Boggles my mind.

  • Home from settling up with my last booth for the month. Now I can get busy and do my sales taxes.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... lovely vase, but have no idea other than I'd be looking at one of the elegant glass makers. Unfortunately, elegant glass is not an area that I'm too familiar with and always have to call on the other glassies for help with IDs.

@charper99 CHAR... ROTFLOL! Oh no, we aren't talking about helping people in the forums. I have 3 friends, either being treated for cancer or with disabilities, whom I take to run their errands or doctor's appointments or laundry, etc. I was just saying it was no big deal to help them because I like them and enjoy their company. If they were mean or curmudgeons, I'd let someone else drive them about. 😀

  • @gailmacphee I have not been out and about our yard since I came home but from what I can see from the window and door nothing is bothering our Stella d Ora lilies. We have no other kind of lilies. No deer coming around either. Guess we live too close in to the city for the deer to venture forth.

  • Its been gorgeous outside, managed to get both vehicles washed and some laundry done. I even priced & packed a few more items for next weekends Swapmeet. A much more productive day then yesterday 🙂 Clouds are starting to come over and as soon as that sun is shielded it gets a bit chilly.
Gail @gailmacphee that is a great moth, I have never seen one like that before. I wonder if we have them down here. I must do a Google
    Julie

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac -- very impressive and cool!

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... it sure looks cut-to-clear to me, but whether or not it might be an ice bucket, I couldn't say. what is the height and diameter of the piece?

Actually getting ready to head out the door and hit the road. See you all later today....

  • Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a good day.

thrifysenior67 Jayne - LTNS = Long Time No see

@wattleihavenext Julie - If I had a grandbaby I think I would need a daily fix(LOL)..... I keep reminding myself that everything happens for a reason, even if you don't know why at the time, but I didn't think it applied to having grandchildren(LOL)...

@shellyrae37 Shelly – your welcome, if you have a store I would list them in there. It is one of those things that might take a bit to sell at the higher price

@gailmacphee Gail – You absolutely right about the return policy, if someone wants their money back there is a good chance of them getting it back. I do combine things for shipping, but I still only ship priority mail and sometimes I let them know that it is cheaper to get the two packages. The thing I have against Parcel Post is that it is handled the most and usually always goes by truck and that just gives a greater chance of breakage. I have different size boxes, so I usually can get stuff to fit into the standard package size. I limit to the overseas countries I ship to, a lot has to do in addressing the label to make sure it get there. The people buying it don't know the proper format of where they live.

@sellingthings Marty - Whatever you do, do not take that flashlight into the bathroom(LOL)..............

@carma Carl - Well I think your weather forecast sealed it for me. I was suppose to go to a memorial service up in Sanford, but do not feel like traveling that far by myself in the rain. I don't be grudge it because we all need it, just wish the rain came at a slower pace.

Well off to do some work

    Bear 🙂

  • Evening All,

What a wonderful day before all the rain that is coming.

@songbreeze Gail - Didn't even know I had made it until I was looking to re-invoice a person, and found they took that option away that I could see, so I just sent them an email. I know I will loose the status as fast as I got it, but heck for a few minutes it was good(LOL). Of course this is Frans field, but I am guessing no on the Candlewick tray, never ever remember seeing pastel candlewick colors.

@shellyrae37 Shelly - your welcome the mugs I usually sell between 20 - 25 depending on my mood(LOL)......

@wattleihavenext Julie - Of course Miss P got her looks from her grandma :-). Someday I will get one, but until then I have lots of Grand nephews and Grand nieces to keep me busy.

@collectibles4utwo Chris - Sorry no idea either, I didn't see Gails note so I looked too(LOL) Looking at the coloring I would guess 50s.....

@gailmacphee Gail - I would do away with parcel post, I use to run out everyday to mail, but now I only do MWF, Only use first class mail or priority mail, Never send parcel post, and once forced to change my return policy it will be no returns. 14 days is much to long of a window to change their minds. Though it really doesn't make to much of a difference in things, unless they are paying you cash. And printing online saves lots of money.

    Bear 🙂

  • Good Morning everyone
Shelly @shellyrae37 My Grandfather had the same coloured hair. DD's father has red hair and Red hair is also on the SIL side. His Mum has redhair. So it was going to be very hard for Miss P to not have red hair. The pics do not do the colour of her hair justice. It is such an amazingly gorgeous colour. It is so beautiful she stops ppl when we are out. They can't help themselves admiring her and always coment on how gorgeous her hair is.
Yes I know I am bragging 🙄 but I am a very proud Grandma 😉
@george we have lots of rules and regulations down here 🙂 Belts hats etc and big fines if caught not adhering to them
Bear @jpthings she is very cute 😆 just like her Grandma 😆 😆 😆 BTW Congrats on the Bronze PowerSeller status
Marson @panishklo yep she is growing very fast. Won't be long and she will be taller than me
Gail @songbreeze I am feeling alright I didn't drink much beer LOL We had a good night. Band was good and always good to catch up with "old" friends
nora @nicknack2 yep you got it right that is my DGD and her very proud Dad
    Marty @sellingthings enjoy your day
Gail Mac @gailmacphee the old say goes. "You can please some of the ppl some of the time BUT you can't please all of the ppl all of the time" Some ppl are never happy no matter what you do.
    Julie

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... good gravy, you are paying way too much for postage if you don't print it on-line. Confirmation is 85¢ at the PO and free if Priority on-line or only 19¢ if Parcel Post. And if an item is only 1 or 2 pounds...sometimes 3 pounds...you can ship Priority rather than Parcel for nearly the same price! The item gets there faster, safer, and cheaper for the customer. The app ShipSaver also is MUCH cheaper way to insure than through the PO.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... it's such a pretty vase. Sorry I just don't have a clue who made it.

  • Hi IRENE M. & REEN. SHELLY, I LOVE liver...beef, veal, or chicken.

@wellingtonct LAURIE ... hope you are feeling better after the Chiro treatment.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... pretty vase but, as Toby said, can't see the honeycomb pattern.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... Northwood's ALASKA aka LION'S LEG, 1897. But I think you have the spooner, not the sugar. The sugar should have a straight rim and a cover

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... so glad your market went so well for you!

  • @gailmacphee Gail Mac - Your stem is by Heisey, their Olympiad etch on a #3411 stem.

  • @gailmacphee GAIL ... your profile page doesn't have a link to your auctions? Are you going to list that on eBay? Inquiring minds want to know....... 😀

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY ... I know alot of time when a bowl is yellow & black or orange & black people have it ID'd as Czech Tango, but I'm also seeing that yellow and black color combination on your bowl in my Lancaster book with similar shapes. Might be an avenue to explore.

    @gailmacphee GAIL ... glad I could help. :}
