• Good morning Glassies !

I am doing better. And a better mood since i have bids on 3 out of five of my listings! No glass, alas. Paid a Quarter a piece for flatware at the GW i found a couple years ago and already opening bids add up to $176, so I'm happy and anticipating xtra cash for car repair! I did have a nice Fenton (early Aqua Crest Ewer, w/Charleton Roses) piece also, to sell for my daughter, till it turned out there was a crack where the handle was applied.

Shelly - Hospital? Your better now, too? Home and busy again? And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Julie - HUGS! 6 years. Can't believe it's been that long. ((more hugs!))) Its so good to see you too! What are Pop-Tarts - back in the "old days", that would have been when Dave/baylove popped in with a funny gif, like a hairy-legged toaster treat with false teeth and maybe a jar vegemite beside it.
Bob - Gosh, you've been in hospital too? Many hugs and healing thoughts for you my friend as well!
George - Hi ya! Good to see you upright and ventilating!
Nancy - Hugs! Hows Joisey? Kayaking still?
Marson - Dear! Does my heart good to see ya!

  • Happy Holidays Dear Glassies ! another long absence! Been in PA since Sept, stayed at my sisters for a month, and got my own place in Oct, then shuffled back and forth almost 2 months helping to take care of my sister till my own health issues popped up and I'm on the mend for a couple weeks now. Wanted to say hi and hope all are well!

  • Alicia - A relief for you as well to know DH is feeling less pain and have nursing help in the home. And yes, and How kind of you to remember 1st GD's name.

Shelly - had to scroll back and see the fab lamps everyone is going on about - cool! Packed in a box, (of course!) I have a catalog of an 60's/70's lamp company and bet those lamps are in there.

  • break time~

Don - it'll be a new experience for me being full-time, on-site gramma back home - looking forward to it 🙂

Katie - 😉 exactly! prepped for months but the reality of it is very confusing for her. She alternates between singing sweet made up lullabies to her and then whining jealousy when it's feeding time for Coco. Mom and Dad are endlessly patient.

    Jesse - yes, long time!

    back to work 🙁

  • Good morning Glassies !

8/31/14 10:20am, the world welcomed 9lb 9 and 1/2oz Chloe Isabella! Promptly nicknamed CoCo by her 4 1/2 yr old big sister, who subsequently was terribly upset that mom and dad were actually bringing her home with them from the hospital!

All but one box of stuff has now been consigned to local shops. An unexpected bonus of the bad deal with the auctioneer has led to neighbors buying the things from me directly, putting cash ($400) directly in my pocket! Just word of mouth! So all's well that ends well! Thanks ALL for YOUR commiserating and cyber-hand-holding!

    Jesse!! Hi there!!

Susy - Yay! She's safe and sound! And a lovely little spot you found for her, cuz I know you don't have many spots! I'm so glad she's found a good home amongst such beauties! I dub you, STOS (StackingRoomOnlySusy!)

  • Morning Glassies !
Down to the wire, 2 weeks to end of the 30 day notice, but I really thought I'd be out TODAY! It's Due Day for #3 GD in PA, mom is ready to go any day. But that awesome auction deal? 25%? Turned out, fine print details (eBay PayPal fees) added in later on the contract made it much less awesome! Had to have a civil disagreement with the young man which resulted in ALL my stuff being returned, thank the stars. But I've scrambled for the past week finding local consignment alternatives, hauling boxes in and out of my car, wrapping and unwrapping, reboxing, more sorting, phone calls, stressing. 50/50 rate doesn't make me jump for joy, but at least I'm not being bamboozled.

Bob/USA - been awhile since I did any shipping, but my rural carrier never scanned picked up boxes, and even some clerks in the PO, I had to ask them to...nicely.

Sorry, no time for a proper read of the board.

Still a couple more boxes to consign and hopefully back on track to be out a week from today.

    Suzy check your message s

  • Reen - I had a friend who took quinine for leg cramps.

  • Happy birthday Susy! Check your messages?
    Happy birthday Laura!

On my IPad tonight, too exhausted to read the board and scroll back and forth trying to read/respond to posts 🙁 just wanted to say hi all!

  • Thank you, Don. Amazing how little tidbits of info get stuck in my head, and really important stuff just runs right thru...can't believe I remember anything EAPG related !

Who made made glass marked KRYS-tol?

  • thank you Gail! If I remember correctly, EAPG era is considered roughly, ended 1910 or '20?

  • Good Morning Glassies! Made it about half way through the glass inventory yesterday, must finish up today. Three plastic bins of linens - I think I can only count how many tableclothes, etc, and call it done.

MARson - lovely to see you too! Yes, it is a chore, moving. DS in FL, upon hearing I'd finally made the decision to move home to PA, knowing how much I don't love the snow and cold and the depressing little home town, blithely says, "Well, you can move south again later, Mom." I just nodded and smiled and said that would be nice, son...but, sheese! pushing 60 now, and this moving stuff, really, it doesn't get easier as one gets older, ha! I hope all is well for you up in your neck of the woods 🙂

I have this same cake stand - is it properly ID'd in this completed listing? 191203742214

  • Hmmm...ah, well...guess I am doing some of the dirty work...but who better to inventory it but me? Otherwise end up with "signed candlesticks", not "Orrefors, signed, numbered, Regina pattern"

  • Thank you George and Gail! So nice to have knowledgeable input! He's open to letting me help and I'm happy to let him do the dirty work, 😉 LOL!

It's been a real mess around here taking every thing out of boxes, unwrapping, finding flat surfaces so he could at least see a representative lot of what I have and now as I put it all away, I'm inventorying, #ing, wrapping, and boxing all over again.

  • Now, I'm working with a handicap - keys missing on my keyboard R and W and the BACKSPACE, and my inevitable typing errors, so it takes me ages to get a proper message typed, unless those two letters aren't needed and i make no errors at all (hah!)
Local auction fella came by yesterday to look at my stuff and surprised me by saying he'd take the majority of it and put it on ebay! 25% cut only. Pretty fair deal since it gets it out of my sight, I don't have to deal with the ebay end of it myself. Only thing I was iffy about is some folks selling glass on ebay, that really don't know about glass, make mistakes like omissions in descriptions, fuzzy pictures, leaving out dimensions, no pictures of the base, etc. so, he was willing to let me do some descriptions, make the attributions, save him the research. He naturally feels he'd have to double check my attributions, he doesn't of course realize I'm a Glassie (LOL)! I'm willing to do it, happy to really, to speed things along. Since he runs a brick and mortar shop, real estate auctions, and local auction house as well as onside auctions, we've agreed on four months time frame, 11/1 deadline for getting my stuff ebayed. Good to be closed to Christmas season. There'll be a written contract and a detailed inventory of each piece.
Never done anything like this before - can I ask a glassie's opinion?

  • Wanted to catch up with posts I missed. I'm afraid I'm still a scatterrbrain! Hope I didn't miss anyone 's comments to me, especially, if I did it wasn't intentional!

Liz - Thank you for posting the link to Bill's obituary.

JULIE! So good to see you! (Waving back wildly!!) Sad to hear your Uncle has passed, my condolences ((hugs)).

Alicia - And so nice to see you too! Your vacation sounds lovely! And surgery last May? Still recovering?? Yikes!

Wendy - We maybe not have "met" officially here before, but maybe on some ebay chat? "wjweese" seems familiar to me. Yes, that's by "Boo", somewhat blind 7 yr old persian rescue. His registered name is Tallyson but he's not as pretentious as that, so I've dubbed him Boo, His Boo-ness, Boo-duh, Mr Boo, BooBoo, My Boo Boo Lah...I wuv 'im 🙂 Any "good eye" I have, I learned in large part from the Glassies right here

Bob in KY - How the heck are you neighbor? And BIN? Found any nice cake stands lately?? No spare green stuff around here! Be happy if I found a shoe box full of 20 's tho! I'd stop by on my way north and take you and BIN out to lunch! Mini Glassie Gathering!

Shelly - Dear! No glass elephants, just mini hagen renakers in my accidental collection. When I get settled, you'll have to come visit!

Don - That FB link looks like a place I could get lost in! Nothing would please me more than to get lost and forget all about this moving but must not ... get ... side tr... acked...I think I'm ADHD!

Lynn M - Hi to you too! Thanks for lovin' Boo 😉 and my name 😉

Hi Sharon! I know it won't go smooth, I count on it, so no surprises at at least, right?

Gail - how adorable your sweater and jar toppers!

  • Is there a way we can send flowers or a card as a group to Diane and family? I'm not an organizer, and can't afford much, but really would like to do something.

  • Good morning Glassies--
Ohliz- That is hard news to hear. Many is the time Bill came to my aid I'd-ing my glass, always a nice guy, a fixture on our old eBay chat board since the early days and on here as well.

  • Back to the boxes ~~~
Also want to take a moment to say good morning to ALL Glassies/Glassirs - Carl, George, Don, Lynn, Fenton, Fran2, Irene, Suzie, Katie, Shelly, Julie, Gail, NancyP, Marson, Wendy, Bob/KY, and those lurking 🙂

  • Katie - I missed your post ! Sorry! Are you moving also? It's no fun! I moved across town a couple years ago and did some purging then, easy stuff, but hauled most of my schtuff to the new place just because I couldn't deal with it all and didn't have to because I moved myself a little at a time. But a long distance move requires I deal with it or pay to move non-essentials and that's not in my budget.

  • Suzie - Not trrying to sell anything!! If you'd like it and are willing to pay for shipping, I'd be happy to send her to you. There's a crack in the base and one of the leaves is broken off.

  • Good Morning Dear Glassies ~!

Fenton - Nice to see you! Mud - er - Meadville. Born and raised.

Suzie - Yes! "Adopted" glass, I call it. Glass that otherwise might not find a good home but follows me home like lost puppies. See if links work -
Remember this glowwee one? She's looking for a new home...

  • Aw you guys! Thanks so much for being so nice and welcoming! Been feeling awful alone in the world in the midst of this move. Kids can't help, friends all disappear when they know there might be heavy lifting involved, hah! 13 years of Schtuff and making decisions on what to keep/discard/sell/donate/consign/toss is not never, ever NO way fun for me. Only my glassie friends can truly appreciate the full dilemma I face 🙂

Suzie - Nice to see you! Do I remember rightly you have a soft spot for damaged pieces that still have character?

Gail - Thanks for looking at the vase. I hope it's commanding presence, at 20" tall, that the auctioneer coming monday will deem it worthy of his time and talent even if it's an unknown. I have another one, EAPG -ish, I'll try and post tomorrow and would surely value your opinion.

George - Upright and ventilating! Yep! And glad to see you also doing the same.

Fran - And how is all with you? So nice to see you here!

My sister's MRI showed plaque on her brain back in January. I'd seen a change in her over the last couple years, but it seemed she was having more psychological issues - like panic or anxiety attacks - but a visit in May made it quite clear
there's memory loss. Quite different from how my mother was in the early onset of the disease. She'd just forget things and laugh it off, but my sister, I think knew what was happening to her and was basically scared and trying to hide it and hide from it. She's still early stage now and she knows what's happening to her.

I must get to bed and try again tomorrow to get done everything I didn't get done today. Spinning wheels day!

  • Nancy - HI! North of PGH, just South of Erie, in Shelly's neighborhood! Yes, it's difficult news. My mother had it too, so know what to expect.

  • and a treasure found - soon to be consigned to local auction

Gonna take this pic over to the chatabout site - don't think they have one for their site. had a devil of a time id-ing it when i found it a couple months ago.

Must get back to the boxes! I'm supposed to be in PA in time for #3 grand dotter - due 7/30!
#4 grand dotter due with FL son in December
G-ma thinks 4 grands is plenty enough!

  • I did forget how to do links!
And don't remember how to "mention" everyone either...but i think of you alll alllll the time. and hope all are well. I see some of my favorite glassies are still here and hope those missing are like me, just missing.
Here's one I was hoping someone might id for me.

  • Glassies! I see GLASSIES!
7 months late, many late thanks for the lovely birthday wishes!
Yes, I'm still alive, no excuses for not being in touch or dropping in. Would love to say I've been busy, or fell in love and/or moved to Jamaica and can now wear a 2 piece bikini and have to beat the men off with a stick, but no, just ordinary life and suddenly a couple years have gone by.

Moving home to PA. My sister, 72, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and I have to go home and soak up the good time left with her. And, so, going thru stuff - you know all my stuff is glass stuff - and gads, it's slow going.
Anybody want this little piece? Pay for the shipping and it's yours. (hope I can still do links to photos right!)

  • @songbreeze - Gail - Thanks - feeling better today.

Can't get into ebays discussion boards today. Anyone else having this problem? I was hoping to find info on this Paypal new thing using it in stores, like Dollar General, without a debit card somehow. anyone know about that?

  • @wattleihavenext - I know! It's just rude, lol. And with a 14 day return policy, all I can do is sit on the money till I'm sure there's no return. Feedback would at least let me know if I can use the money or not.

  • Good Morning Glassies !

Came down with a bad cold this past week and have been ucky for days but here to report the uninsured vase arrived safely, according to the USPS tracking, and apparently safely since I've not heard from the winner. Logging in today seeing all the mentions after my last post, --------Thank you all! Of course, No feedback from the buyer, don't expect they'll leave any. Heard from an under-bidder this morning who also belongs to the Facebook group where Nancy posted it had been unpaid, and he was hoping he could get a second chance offer. Wish I had a couple more of those vases!

26 acts of kindness. Can't even bear to think of those precious babies and how their families must feel.

  • Thank you Katie. I'm sure you're right, and my good sense tells me I am an experienced glass packer, but my worry button gets stuck in the "on" position sometimes. ~~My favorite winter pj's came from a dollar store, on sale in the spring. Yessiree, top of the line Bobbie Brooks cotton blend knit in a pink print. But I used to have a Lands End cotton knit nightie that I wore till the threads unraveled and the coffee stains just wouldn't wash out any more !

  • Wattaday, wattaday. Katydid winner paid, yay! But I'd promised to take my neighbor to the dentist an hour from here and had to rush to get the vase packed and print the label so I could get it in the mail today too (I know, I know, why didn't I already have it packed! I have no defense, lol) and in my rush, I forgot to add insurance!! I double boxed and bubble wrapped the heck out of it, but I'll be having little panic attacks for the next few days anyways. Please say some Glassie Prayers for the Katydid vase going up the road to Virginia 😉 🙂

Gail - I think all pj's should be street wear!!

  • @jerseystar27 - Nancy - that was very thoughtful of you - thanks so much! I sent a note with an EOA notice to the winner to give them till tonight before I do the unpaid item report. I searched FB for that club out of curiousity and found all sorts of glass collector related groups, so that was a learning experience for me.

  • Morning Glassies !

I think Fred looks dashing in his hat, lol,.

A week today and still no payment from the Katydid winner. I have my ebay settings set to start an automatic unpaid item report in 4 days if no payment - and apparently that didn't happen so - grrrrr - I have to do it manually today and then wait 4 more days for them to pay. Then I can relist. A costly delay. I need the Christmas money!

  • Morning Glassies! Quick stop - off to the PO this morning - plates winner paid, still waiting on the Kadydid winner, hmmm.

..Bob Sheese! The nerve! I'd never dream of expecting someone to deliver to me in lieu of paid shipping!

  • Marson - Thank you! Nice to see you! Hope you're staying warm this winter!

Don - aw, you pulled up your ol' dancing elephant, thank you. I miss the old chat and all the dancing we used to do.

JimL - That's the first glass worthy of writing home about that I've found in months! As I recall, you use to bring home worthy glass too - still do much glass hunting?

NancyP - cool! It hit the bigtime on FB, lol. I didn't know there was such a club on FB, or anywhere. Thanks for the congrats!

Bob in KY - Thank You! I didn't see your bid, I figured BIN talked you out of it , LOL, 🙂

Gail Mac - I won that CW in an ebay lot of three unrelated pieces of glass. Can't remember the details now but the CW
wasn't the main reason I bid! It wasn't till I got it in hand and measured it, and brought it here for confirmation (Bob/glassusa and Fran/dbfrogs both helped) that I knew it was special. And it was also a little miracle that it didn't break in transit, just crammed in a little box with the other pieces. It was almost pure luck from start to finish. Blind pig/acorn story ,lol.

Now, to get through my whole obsessive packing ordeal and await payment!

    Cheapest gas here is $3.22.

  • oops! Julie and George, I didn't refresh before I posted - Thank you too!!

And the Steuben plates - from a different thriftvstore, on half price day - they were regular $2 each, hahahahaha all the way to the bank!

  • Thank you Gail, nice of you to post that for me and thanks for the congrats, Shelly. whoohoo! Reminds me of the old days! Snagged that at the GW, $10!

  • George - Thanks for looking for it!

Shelley - no rich widowers for me. Not even poor ones, lol. There's about 4 guys living in the complex here, two married, two in wheelchairs, pushing 80, and one still getting around on his own speed but such a loud, obnoxious guy nobody can stand him, lol!

Bob in KY - I take USPS money orders also - so bid before BIN talks you out of it! 😉

  • Shelly - good news!

JimL - hey, nice to see you!

Don - maybe it's not you, but your location. Could be your living in some previously unknown Glass Bermuda Triangle. I think when you buy, you should have your glass shipped to me instead for safe passage 🙂 I'll keep it secure till science can look into the problem 🙂

NancyP - sorry it took me a couple days to get back and say hi back at ya!

I'm tickled - my P/C Katydid vase hit 100 views this morning! I think the last time I had something listed that generated that much interest was years ago, that rare Candlewick center handle server that sold for 1,000!

  • Julie - uhh, oh, gosh, 2 years ago??? ey-yi-yi, how did I miss that? Or worse, did I know that and then forget that?!! But I do remember how a bunch of us on the old chat howled over that story.

  • oops - BV $125, 1998.

And, I'll try, but often just don't have much to say 🙂

  • Bob - In Chiarenza/Slater Milk Glass Book, pg 155, plate 368, your blue guy, called a matchholder, is called "Old Man with Basket". Shown in caramel color in the book, their example is marked Portieux across the outside of the base. Illustrated in Portieux 1933 catalog, designated only "sujet" (figure)

  • Hello Glassies! Gosh, can't believe months have gone by since I popped in! I've been busy settling in, enjoying the new place and community here. Really slowed down on thrift store hunting other than trying to find decent furnishings for the new place and haven't done ebay in months either. But I did find a couple things that I just had to list for xmas shoppers.

Julie - my brief scan indicates dear Lucky has crossed the Rainbow Bridge? So sorry to hear! I will never forget the false teeth fiasco!

  • cxgirl/Mary - There are reproductions of the naked ladies but I don't know the details of them all. Except for Draped Lady ones made by a short lived company called Mirror Image. They are marked with a superimposed MI on the base. Hopefully someone here can post links to the websites that have info/pics on some of them. I lost them in the last puter crash.

ARRRRRgh. Boo damaged my keyboard and my R, W, and backspace keys are messed up.

  • Morning Glassies ! MOVED! Got the last of my stuff moved out on Wednesday and have been suffering from an aching back since. Actually, there are two big things left but need a dolly for them. New tenants are friends of friends so they are okay with leaving them there till I can hire someone to move them or give them away. If ever I move again, I'll sell EVERYTHING!

Now maybe I can start ebaying again!

    Happy Birthday Janice!

  • Morning Glassies ~!

Bob in KY - Still wondering where you'll be displaying your lovely new cake stand? Building a second bathroom?? 😉

Shelly - Nope, just moving across town to a new 55+ senior complex. My place here has gone downhill since I moved in 8 years ago.

I had trouble with ebay's search a couple days ago. They changed things again!

Gorgeous day blooming here! Low humidity, gentle breezes, clear blue sky.

  • Don - haha, as I recall, 😉 someone brought a leash for Dave expecting...who knew what! But turned out he was much tamer in person 🙂 The sweetest, nicest guy you could imagine. In our limited time in CA, each wanted to go somewhere, see some particular site or attraction . One group wanted to go to Disneyland, or was that the Catalina Island trip? (I wanted to just get my toes wet in the Pacific Ocean), and the one thing Dave wanted to do was see Huntington Gardens. When some of us learned all there was to see there, including a display of EAPG, it didn't take much to get a bunch of us interested. And Dave, it turned out, was our personal tour guide extraordinaire. Through each garden he led us through, he named each plant - like the common name, the multi- syllable latin name, sometimes alternate names, any medicinal qualities, where it commonly grew, etc. It was all fascinating. The Japanese garden was my favorite.

Gail, yes! That's the plus side of this long, drawn out moving experience, lol. I've moseyed along at my own sedentary pace packing a few things now and then, hauling a few things at a time. Practically all that is left is a bed, dresser, 2 chairs, kitchen table and desk, plus basic kitchen stuff and clothing.

  • Morning Glassies ~! Still not moved! But unless some new catastrophe befalls, I will finally be in next friday, the 14th. Meanwhile, the complex has allowed me to move stuff into the storage unit ahead of time. I've filled two storage cages with stuff. Stuff that has no purpose in everyday life. Every bit of it I have some emotional attachment to or have assigned cash value to waiting for the market to come back, lol. Nearly a storage cage more of purpose-less stuff has gone to thrift store or local auction. It amazes me how much stuff amassed over 8 years here when I literally moved in with only about 1 carload of belongings.

Here's a funny thing I came across while browsing auctionzip local auctions. A picture of a NW Louis VI custard glass berry bowl - caption? "CUSTER glass"!

And got nostalgic this morning when I stumbled on this Yahoo article. A few Glassies here might recognize this picture right away.
    http://travel.yahoo.com/ideas/america-s-prettiest-parks.html

  • Julie - Waving backatcha!!

Bob in KY - When I got into Win 7, Windows Live Photo Gallery was the best thing about it, imo. It took me awhile to figure out how to resize: look to top, just left of "auto adjust", when you're in the editing part of the program and you'll see "properties". Click on that and you'll see "resize", 2nd down.

  • Gail - What a darling perfume bottle! Call it clambroth. Bet it's European, maybe French.

Don - Remember the glassie that used to post pictures of his stained glass creations using old pieces of depression glass (on the old ebay board)? Wonder if any one sells pieces like yours on ebay for mosaics?

I'm also off to auction tonight!

  • Bob in KY - Just moving across town to a nice, new 55+ apt. complex. But I would still love to go to one of your auctions where you find the neat treasures you've shown here!

I should have learned my lesson a couple computers ago! Last one that died I've yet to take to a repairman to see if it can be salvaged so I don't know for sure that I lost everything. When it crashed, i just got up from the desk, grabbed my purse and went shopping and came home same day with the laptop! But still, all I've done on the laptop is to put my photos on CD! Not much else worth saving, really, lol. Learning Win 7 wasn't too bad. I tried using my old keyboard with the laptop, but found it too bulky to mess with. But I like the laptop, being so portable. You taught typing?

Don - Oh, you have the worst luck with poor packers! You ever have any luck getting refunded when that happens?

  • Morning Glassies ~!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSU!

bob in KY - I bought my first laptop a few months ago and just recently discovered they make little stands for laptops that hold them on a slant so it's easier to type. Also, very important to make sure your laptop can "breath", so don't ever set it on a bed, pillow, couch or it will over heat! And I've lost count of how many computers I've crashed and lost all!

QUESTION - Estate sale near me shows picture of Westmoreland Waterford/Wakefield glasses/stemware and tall FLAT tumblers in ruby stain (or would that be flashed?). Only flat tumblers I could find were on Rep. site and they were only in clear and short. Anyone know a value for these tall ones?

STILL not moved! The new place had a flood due to plumbing issues in the wing where my place is and they've had to pull up all flooring, cut out wallboard 6 inches up from the floor, rip out cabinets. Have to do tests to be sure no mold is growing and that testing is taking awhile. I'm a little frustrated. Already have had to extend my lease here for a month, may now be another half month or ??

  • Gail - - your friend on disability may also be able to find help feeding the dog the local pet rescue folks, humane society ?

NancyP - okay, let me try again 🙂 The teapot if 7" tall and holds about 4 and 1/2 (8 oz) cups

mm...wondering what else I meant to say here but forgot

...and wandering out to the kitchen to FINALLY get started on the cabinets...

  • Good Day Glassies ~! Goodness, you've all been a busy bunch the last couple days. I had to "load more" to go back to where I last checked in a couple days ago to see what I've missed!

I was going to work on restoration of an old floor lamp on the back porch this morning but a new wasp nest dissuaded me of that plan. Instead, today is the top kitchen cabinets clean out day.

I talked to a local auction house a few days ago about consigning my stuff, mostly smalls and mostly glass. He said smalls and glass in particular are really hard to get rid of right now, not getting anything for them. Huh. I think he was just trying to discourage me from bothering him with what he probably assumes are boxes of junk. It kinda ticked me off. So, I went to an estate sales person I've dealt with before, because they know my boxes aren't full of junk, but the problem with them is I'll have no idea how much a single piece sold for, or if it sold or was stolen and they get 40%. Consignment shops have a too slow turn over and get 50%. Auction is my best return (20% or less around here) AND I'll know how much each item sold for, or if in a lot. I'm going to contact other auction houses and see if there is one with more enthusiasm for smalls.

Marty - Love turbo lister, for the most part. Have a couple templates set up with my own html. Just fill in the details like title, price, weight and description, pictures. And never have to deal with the ever changing SYI form. Get a mess of listings all prepared and launch them when I feel like it. Only issue I have had with TL is that the program is slow sometimes.

Katie - I'm so glad the family and friends at the funeral were spared the insane ravings of that Westboro group! What a nice uplifting story - I wish it would have made the national news! More people need to know that they and they perverted message can be thwarted and how.

Don - he's darling! (so's Alvin the chipmunk!) I'm clueless on the pitcher pattern, of course.

Gail and Gail Mac - Also wish I had a smart phone. I'm not rich enough to pay $100 + a month. But I do know I could figure one out. Sons both have one and I got to play with them. If you can get around a computer, you can use a smart phone. My "get around" for now, bring my laptop with me on treasure hunts. If i see something interesting, I write down a note to self in a little notepad (because I forget with minutes!) and then find the nearest wi-fi, usually McDs.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZY!!!

NancyP - What a good question! Why do I so often forget to include needed info! Dear Suzy is catches my omission of such info like dimensions, too!

  • Carl Ha! I knew I'd get that wrong! Thanks.

Marty - lol, so sorry I wasn't there that day!

Got a kitchen cabinet and one drawer cleaned out, thats A cabinet. Why did I think I needed to hold onto all that stuff??? ~~Tomorrow is another day, another cabinet. nite nite

  • Bill - Not that I can help, but would still like to see a picture of it 🙂 Just my 2cents, and we all know I'm no expert, but I don't think Fenton made a true amberina, but their ruby glass had gold and the yellow/amber seen mostly in the base of their ruby red glass was actually the heavier gold "settling".

Marty - Yeah, ugh! those ugly carp are on my childhood 8mm home movies! I use to have nightmares about falling into them, and of course, subjected my own children to the same trauma, lol. Asked because years ago, my mom had a lot at Holiday Camplands.

  • Marty - I've meaning to ask, you're in Ohio? Is the campground you go to near Pymatuning?

  • Katie- EEks! "peculiar" smell, lol. Smelled like a dirty litter box! Thankfully, there's been no sign of it or any other of his/her furry family. And I'm so glad I'm moving!

I got over my initial dislike of the 55+ apt. complex and have a date to move next month (mouse nest helped to cement the decision!) I need all that time to get my stuff sorted, sold, etc. The last couple days tho, I've just been so tired, I can't wrangle enough energy to get much done.

    Hi Betty!

Marty Good news! Shame on the VA clerk!

  • Carl - huh, the military didn't waste their money for once, lol!

    Hi Marson!

Gail - I'm sweating and tired just imagining 4 booths!

Suzy - Careful, you'll be needing a curio just for pinkish/amberish glass 😉

Well, found a box on the top shelf back in the corner of the closet I thought I was done with. It was full of coffee mugs wrapped in paper. I noticed some of the paper was ripped in tiny shreds here and there...as I emptied the box, putting the cups in sink to wash, i got to the last cup and there, you may have already guessed, tucked in between the cup and box was a MOUSE NEST! OMG! Threw out the box, that last cup and hopefully the mouse and all his/her nesting materials!!! Turns out there's a "door" in the ceiling of the closet that goes to the attic space and the door was not closed properly. All my years here, never noticed that before. It's closed tight now!

  • Katie - Thanks! It's my first CL sale! Sold them really cheap, but soo happy to have them outta heeah!

  • Carl- Did the US ship big equipment like that carrier home from Europe and the Pacific to sell off after the war? I always imagined it all got left behind.

Progress! Not all that big, but it gives me hope. Scads of 1000 pc jigsaw puzzles sold on Craigslist! Just got back from meeting the buyer at the Walmart parking lot.

  • Bob usa - that green brainy looking thing is DDG! Gotta be english/european.

  • morning Glassies ~! Up with the chickens this morning (the neighbor's noisy roosters!) and then thankfully went back to sleep for another hour 🙂

Carl - wow, that's really cool! I wonder how it ended up rusting in the woods of Maine?

Still working on pre-moving activities. I can't decide what is ebay-able, what goes to local auction, what gets re-donated, what goes in the trash, what to try on Craigslist or Freecycle and what I can't part with. There's still a storage closet in the laundry area and the high kitchen cabinets! The goal is to move the fewest boxes. I really don't know how I'm going to move any thing. I can't afford to hire anyone and can't possibly do it all myself. When I moved in here 8 years ago, sigh, I had nothing more than what fit into my car!

  • I'm whooped! The temp is down but the humidity is high. I didn't get to the closet cleaning, had to drop off some paperwork at the apartment complex and instead of just heading straight home to get to work on the closet, I made a few thrift store stops. No treasures! Seems it's always harder to find good stuff in the summer around here. I blame the tourists 🙂
Carl - Things change, for better or worse. A five day week is a baaaad idea. I don't understand the closing of the sorting facilities. When I was in FL last month, I sent a package and it had to go 30 miles south to the Jacksonville sorting facility before it could go 150 miles north. That's just not efficient.

Katie - Yep, that's my Boo (Charles) in the avatar.

Gail - I'mso glad Blue Moon is de-flea-ed! You're a sweetheart taking her in! No flea bathing after getting Assurity! If you want to bathe her, use just regular cat shampoo. I lost my TS status once. It made no difference in sales but I did miss the 20% off fees.

Suzy - Oh gosh, I'd think with that many furkids in that jungle of glass you'd have had much more breakage! Wonderful pictures, the kittens are too cute! It's so hard to lose 'em! 6 yrs of collecting? Just 6? !!!

  • Just curious if anyone knows the maker of the blue swan? It is an older one, right?
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=261057478302&si=WZlvidSxZU5Jqxu2Gv5XOiOeyNs%253D&viewitem=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Now I must get busy on the next closet cleaning project.

  • Katie - Charles is MY blessing.

  • Morning Glassies ~! Yikes, missed Carma's birthday!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARL!

Carl - are these new time lines due to the expected closings of some post offices around the country??

They've been telling us for two days that the heat wave is coming to an end. Just now seeing a tiny bit of relief this morning as the slow moving cold front works it's way down to us. Along with bad storms.

@songbreeze - A vet once told me that for small kittens with a bad flea infestation, use flea powder, or spray, but don't put it directly on the kitten. Sprinkle (or spray) some in a small towel, spread it around a bit and then place the kitten on it and wrap the towel around them for a few, maybe 10-20 minutes, leaving their head free. This will make the fleas abandon ship somewhat. Then use a flea comb to get those that rush to his/her head and give him/her a good brush down all around. It won't cure the problem, but will relieve the small kitten till he/she is big enough for real treatment. (And do it outside)

Rearranged the living room yesterday and poor Blind Charles is challenged figuring out the new configuration! He has his little routes he's used to and now when he jumps up on the chair, he's surprised that it's not the couch, and when he jumps onto the tv stand, he can't find the chair that is supposed to be next to it. Hate to do that to him, but on the other hand, it stimulates him like a sighted cat is stimulated with a new toy.

@suzy - I love your place! How long have you been collecting? Do you have pets???

@amber1986 - thanks for that link, it was a great start to my day!

@shellyrae37 - haven't listed anything this past week so can't say but even so, I use turbo lister and don't have to deal with the SYI pages at all.

  • @oklahomasong - really? You'd give up your own home to go to an independent living facility? If I owned my own home, I'd stay in it till I had no choice - Either the house falling down around me or me falling down around the house, lol. And I discovered a tiny crack recently in a Dugan vase (not the one I just sold, I knew that crack was there) that I bought from an estate sale and paid nearly full price for.
@fyrqueen - Katie - those pull cords are standard now???? Gosh, it makes me feel old...I'm just 57! I'd have to hide it behind a picture or something, lol. But I did think it might be a nice place to meet a single gentelman...:) I buy old linens whenever I find them at the thrifts. I just love them, but The urge to purge is strong right now!! I have so much stuff that must be moved! I'll never get them all washed and ironed and photoed for ebay before moving.
@shellyrae37 - I'm trying to adjust to the idea of "independent living facility", but it's like looking old-old-really old age in the face and I can't wrap my head around that yet. I'm still a 20 year old hippie !! (if I don't look in the mirror, or live with reminders like emergency pull cords, 😆 !) This company has a couple other complexes to look at, hopefully without the suggestive pull cord 🙂

  • Good Day Glassies ~! Wonderful storms flew thru yesterday evening and cooled things down nicely last night, so nicely that it was lovely cool this morning so I spent the last three hours cleaning out/organizing the bedroom closet. I (re)discovered my "treasure trove" of vintage linens and filled two plastic bins with them and still have left overs. I had no idea I had so many old tableclothes!

Now it's up to 80 in here so time to sit and sip cool water.

@oklahomasong - Wish for you there were something there known as ”cool air” in the night! My window a/c makes a lot of noise too and it's a relief to turn it off at night.

I looked at a new apartment complex yesterday. I'm so ready to move out of this place. It was nice 8 years ago but a new landlord, tho a really nice guy, is very lackadaisical about repairs. He does them, but only after hounding him a while. And then he doesn't do them right. Like the new bathroom faucet he put in. The old one had a up/down plug thingie on it. The new one doesn't (because it cost a couple dollars less) so now everything falls down the drain. Or like the time he came to paint the outside, without warning one day, super paint sprayer in hand, he painted over windows, doors, outside furniture, etc! He used to mow and then weed-whack, but now he doesn't weed-whack anymore and weeds grow around the base of the porch, light poles, steps, fence, etc. He used to clean up trash in the yard, now he just mows it and leaves the scattered trash where it lies.

So, I looked at a 55+ apt condo-like complex yesterday. And boy, it was depressing! Nice looking place, just built this year and the apts themselves are darling, all modern appliances included, central air, nice quiet area away from highways, ponds and walking paths on the grounds. BUT, there are emergency pull cords in the bathroom and railings along the common area hallways and a common dining room - like a nursing home! Oh, lordy, I am not yet THAT old!

  • Good Morning Glassies ~! Hope all are staying cool! Read somewhere that it's going to continue being hotter than usual all summer. I cleaned my window AC so it works a little better. I don't turn it on till it's near 80 inside and turn it off for the night and pump in cool night air with fans.

  • @carma - and I totally agree. Yet, I was told the same thing as Gail.

  • @oklahomasong - it does make it look like the seller printed the label and nothing else. You're right, it is only meant to confirm delivery, still I feel like complaining/whining 😉

  • Oy, Bob - meant to also say, what a neat piece!

  • @baabaamason - BOB! I swear, I was thinking about you and was just now going to ask if you'd been around here and
P O O F here you are! Isn't this heat somethin'?? We're 96 here, they called for 99 but we didn't quite make it. We get a little relief up here. All the lower elevations near by are 100 or nearly so.

@suzy - I just gotta reply from her and seems her husband left it accidentally. It's possible. The PO I use has done this in the past - not scan on receipt. When that happens, it won't show anything till it's delivered. It's going Parcel Post so it could be a few more days yet till it shows up. I feel like telling the Post Master, "What is the point of my paying for a service if you don't actually provide it!" It's a big Aladdin lamp and shade and I won't relax about it till it's delivered safe and sound. Another PO farther away from me ALWAYS scans!

  • Okay, hi all!

This is weird. Sold an item on the 24th, printed the label and shipped on the 25th. I took it the post office and because the box was really big and wouldn't fit in the parcel drop box in the lobby, I took into the main part of the post office and set it up on the counter, right beside a clerk who was busy with another customer. I've done this lots of times with big boxes w/prepaid labels. On the 27th I got positive feedback from the buyer "100%". Today I got an email from that same buyer saying she hasn't received her item! Indeed, when I checked, the tracking number link shows it was never scanned. Not when I dropped it off and not when it was delivered. It's insured!

@gailmacphee - yep, air twist stem.

  • Morning Glassies ~! I was planning on going to an auction south of me, in SC, (home of the cheapest gas in the country right now, $2.80) this morning, down out of the mountains where temps are usually 8-10 degrees hotter than here. Then I saw the weather report last night. The heat wave is here! It'll be mid to high 90's down there. And the all day auction is inside a big warehouse bldg. Haven't been there before, but the website says, "This auction is a moving auction and usually lasts several hours. We do provide a full concession stand all day with breakfast and lunch items. Please be aware that due to the size of the building, most of the auction area is not heated/cooled. " Sounds like a grueling day and there was only a couple things I was interested in. But I'm still debating. If I bring a chair and buy one of those hand-held personal fans that spray water...

Right now, it's 55F and I woke up freezing - I'm wearing wooly socks and heavy robe!

@suzy - ! It was worth a shot. So many curios, do you have room for couch and chairs?!

  • Don - ooo, hope you feel better soon

Katie - you feel better too! I don't have a collection either. I have "left overs". Chipped, cracked, didn't sell, never found out who made it/them, or nobody on ebay wanted, lol.

Bill - Neat fox photos! I live in the country and all I ever see are rabbits and squirrels.

No guesses on the Bubble Girl value on a pink tiffin-like water/stem?

Suzy - awww, that's cute! How many cases of glowee glass??????? I noticed in one of the pics, in the front, beside a juicer, you have little bowls witha ringed base and gray cut? I have one of those, keep my change in it, don't suppose you know the who/what/where on them?

  • @shellyrae37 - wow! Nice pics, nice listing, NICE sale! I'm committing that mark to memory! Well, I'll try anyways 🙂

    @reddogantiques -

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!

  • @shellyrae37 - i trust you continue to heal?

HEADLIGHTS, ETC. - I got my headlights, the whole assembly and bulbs included, for less than half the price you normally pay at car parts places. (1aauto.com) Shipping included, came in 2 days, and they work! Unless they fall apart or blow up, lol, I recommend them!

Time for Jon and Stephen 🙂 night night ~~ZZZZZZZ

  • @suzy - HI!

@songbreeze - I was trying to find a match for the glasses you posted a link to - seller called them Tiffin but didn't give a number. That's why I gave those Tiffin numbers

  • @songbreeze - O! so close to mine! Alas, no optic.

  • @songbreeze - aren't those Tiffin stems one of those I ran across looking for my neodymium glass? my notes say 15042 or 17673 or 13628. hehe, might help, might totally mislead you. I do remember something about the Minton or Rambler Rose pattern often found on that shape.

  • Suzy - ohmy, you qualified for Glassaholic with just one shelf of pink glass, lol! Gorgeous stuff!

  • Hi Glassies ~! Headlights in AND they work!

Browsing around local antique shop, came across "Bubble Girl" etched pink water glasses - what's a ballpark value of one? The blank has a panel optic, looks like Tiffin.

Thanks for the nice comments on the family photo. I'm very proud 🙂

  • Hi Suzy! And hi Kelli!

Got the car somewhat straightened out. The body shop wanted 3,000 to do the work, parts and labor. That was doing it "right", down to a new coat of paint which is silliness because the rest of the car is scratched and dented. Even taking off the cost of paint and using old parts, it was still around 2,000. Found a friend of a friend who's a handy-type guy out of work and for $100 and a case of beer, plus new headlights at $100, I'll be good to go by the end of next week, just in time for the yearly state inspection.

With that behind me, next on my agenda is moving! Find a little bit more space, closer to town, first floor.

  • Gail - That Tiffin, 17673 was as close as I could come, too. Right shape, close enough to 6 1/8 size for the ice tea, but no optic. I've noticed sometiems makers often made the same shape with and without an optic, but I haven't been able to find an optic in this shape. I think the 4000 has a too well-defined bulbous bowl. I give!

  • Morning Glassies ~! Here's a picture taken in FL last month. L to R, DS, DGD, Bailey 2 1/2, DGD Avett, 1 mo, DIL and DS, the new dad.
    http://i49.tinypic.com/k0jbsw.jpg

  • Morning~! Been tracking down used parts for the car and posting those blasted stems other places looking forhelp. Alas, I fear, they are two generic 🙁

Julie - AAAAwwwwe! Grats! A grandson! I love buying little girl's clothes, but little boys stuff is also very cute! Still, I hope my sons aren't planning any more bundles of joy for g-ma.

Shelly - Yes, with Gkids N and S of me, it's a real quandary!

Off to auto parts store ~ bbl

  • Finally, here's the neodymium stems. 6 and 1/8th inch tall, panel optic, no etch. I suspect Tiffin is most likely the maker?
    http://i46.tinypic.com/161jxe.png

  • Gail - Hi! I swear, I did not see your post just before my last one last night! how did you sneak in there?? My apologies for seeming to ignore you! Things go well for me. Health is good other than the usual complaints of borderline old-ladyness 🙂 And the ongoing struggle to clear the clutter and the campaign to not bring anything more home! I generally manage to keep a clear path and a bit of flat space clear on the kitchen table and I've admitted I have a problem, haha! And you've been good also?

Shelly - Wasn't me that helped you with your pretty pitcher - Ginnyrose - carol did. Good thing because I'm clueless on the baked dirt still. You had knee replacemnt surg.? I knew a lady in FL that had hers both done and life improved dramatically for her after recuperating.

My latest car accident was indeed another case of distracted driving! I had decided to take a side trip on the way home from Fl, using my gps to find a thrift store. (I haven't told my kids the WHOLE story!!) Going down the road I saw a different thrift on my left, took a double take because the gps hadn't told me to turn and I was all excited to find TWO in the same area, lol, and when I looked back at the road a second later, there's a Tahoe in front of me, stopped sudden,. I slammed on the brakes and slid right into it. It had been raining but stopped, but the road was still wet, classic hydroplaning. I swear, drunkards have a better driving record than me!

Julie - You've been well, I trust? Still going on your trips to sell? How's your DGD? And Melanie and her husband? Sorry to hear Fran wasn't well, glad to hear she's still on the harley with Doug! They are such a cute couple! Tell her I said hi, k? That troubling not to hear back from mary pat.

Hi Don! Stay safe! Hope you're not downwind?

    Happy Birthday Marty!

  • Shelly - Haven't taken Charles to the vet to have him checked yet, (the rescue org.'s vet said he was just nearsighted!) but I don't think it is cataracts because his eyes are4 clear, not cloudy.

Guess I'll call it a night and try to get those neodymium pics up tomorrow. Nite all!

  • Shelly - You're healing? What happened? Yes, I did have a wreck not too long ago - 3 years, 6 months. My car ins,. had just gone back down, 🙁 I don't have a good track record. 10 accidents, 2 of them not my fault over 36 years. What's that average out to? Ha! Erie is so depressed economically, yes? More gangs, violence, lawlessness when the economy sucks.

  • Oops! I hit enter instead of shift!

    Carl - Thanks bunches!

Just got back from a month long FL visit welcoming the new granddaughter, Avett Ella (Ella was my great grandmother's name. Avett is the name of a band the parents love) First granddaughter is now 2 1/2 yrs old.

Wrecked my car on the way home from FL, nothing too serious, my fault, and I only had liability, so I'm wheeling and dealing to make a few $$ to fix it. Also found 5 neodymium stems and 4 dessert plates I'll be posting pics soon to hopefully learn the maker.

  • Shelly - How's Dreary Erie!

NancyP - Nice to see you too! Boo, aka Charles, is my recently adopted 5 yr old Persian. It took me months after MarshaMellow died to find a place for a new kitty, but I knew Charles was the guy when I saw him at a Petco adoption event. They told me he was a little "nearsighted", but turned out he's blind as a bat, lol. Doesn't stop him tho. I've had to put some glass away, lol. Blind bull in a china shop!

Marson! I hope all is well with you!

Janice! Gosh, it's nice to see you!

MARSON, JANICE, GAIL, NANCYJEAN, KATIE, BETTY, CARL, GEORGE, JULIE & IRENE, SHELLY & Anyone I missed.. mm - swiping Shelly's list cuz I still can't remember

  • So, what's new?? Where's Fran? Anyone know any news on MaryPat? Kelli? Jesse? Bear? I see Bill and George posting on the discussion board sometimes

  • Carl - Found this little pretty today and searched for it on ebay soon as I got home and stumbled on your rare Dugan auction with a similar crack. Wondering if my little pretty is as worthy for resale as your rare beauty?
    http://i46.tinypic.com/15r1q1g.jpg

  • Hi Julie! Thanks for missing me! I think about my glassie friends every day and pop in to read here now and then. Haven't had much to say.

I haven't come empty handed! Working on posting a link to a Dugan art glass vase.
