• @mary Chewck Dugan Art Glass

  • Just got home from taking a friend to do her shopping.

@mary cxgirl MARY … that purple trim would be commonly known as ”amethyst stain”.

HI to EVERYONE! Hope that’s not too generic a greeting, but I’m pooped and headed for the recliner. 🙁

  • Oh my word, what a beautiful day it has been today. 65° and just perfect. I headed out and visited several surrounding towns and stopped at seven different malls/flea markets. Spent the entire day on the road and it was just lovely.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... thanks for the encouragement on my RL store. It's a bit more convaluted in the selling what with purchase orders etc. but well worth it not to have to jack my prices up to include "free" shipping. And not only not having to pay FVF on the item, but not having to pay it on the shipping too!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... hmmmmm, I don't know what pop-ups you were seeing on that site. I don't like pop-ups either.

@reen REEN .... teehee, yes I've been to a ton of places, is it any wonder I'm tired all the time? Still recuperating from all the travel... 🙂

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... thanks so much for letting us know that AMBER is ok. I only list items I have right here in the house as when I go to write the descriptions I have to have the item in my hand to take the measurements and check for any flaws. Now my fear is just the reverse....forget I have it listed and take it to one of the malls!. 😮

@amber1986 AMBER ... well, as I scroll up the board, I see your post. So very glad that power is back up and you are well.

@gailmacphee GAIL MAC ... so sorry that I'm just no help on art glass and crackle glass. Hopefully someone will show up soon who can help. Lovely pieces.

HI to DON, KATIE, GEORGE, MARTY, and IRENE M.

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... I haven't found it in milk glass, but in tranparent green and blue...it is shown on page 125 of Victorian Glass Novelties by Jo & Bob Sanford. Says it was made by U.S. Glass Co., ca 1892..5 7/8" long.

  • Good morning from sunny and cool NJ -- looks like Mother Nature actually read the calendar and knows it's Autumn. DD called this morning to say she has her closing date -- Oct. 30. That's perfect as her apartment lease ends on Nov. 26 -- she gave notice this past weekend and had already started to arrange for a mover and cleaning service. If worst came to worst, her stuff was going into storage and she was going to stay with her girlfriend.

@mainewildrose Sue, welcome back to the East Coast! How wonderful that you'll be able to enjoy your GD.

@mary cxgirl Mary, another figurine is the September Morn nymph, which Fenton made (it's based on a painting). I have the bowl and candleholders from Fenton's set, but the nymph costs a fortune the few times I've seen one on eBay. So I settled for an Imperial version of Bashful Charlotte which I got cheap. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/7BvfV5SQwYdVWaqbPuPDEJ46WNkKOU7MjrZOZP_x8cU?feat=directlink

  • Good morning, glassies. Gotta go run errands for a friend. JULIE, MARY, AMBER ... thanks for the words of encouragement for my son and DGD.

@mary MARYMELODEE ... I have Spencer's Glass Animal book and I have Bull's Flower Frogs for Collectors book. Love both books. Here is a web site that might help too. http://glasstreasurechest.com/ncc_flower_frogs/wildflowerfrogsFigural.htm

HI to DON, GEORGE, & JIM D.

  • Good morning y'all,
Been up for a a couple of hours. Awakened and after a bit became concerned because DH was not there. Came wandering out to look for him just as he was coming back to bed. Then decided to stay up for a bit. I'll nap later today.
@mary cxgirl MARY Pretty bowl and as often happens @songbreeze Gail came through with the ID.

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... possibly PRESSED DIAMOND aka: ZEPHYR (OMN) aka BLOCK AND DIAMOND by Central Glass Co. #775, date 1880s

  • @reen REEN ... The hats are so interesting. I'll love to watch them when you get them listed. What fun!

@donscns DON ... ROTFLOL @ you helping Bob in KY downsize, yeah, right!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... Hope your DH got some remedy or relief from the doctor's visit.

@ver2us1 JANICE ... good to see you...it's been a while. Hope all is well.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... sorry your last swap meet was a bit of a bust. Anymore scheduled soon?

@mary MARYMELODEE ... today's eCommerce AuctionByte had people commenting on the crazy eBay search.

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... on another forum people were complaining of having trouble with the eBay search...getting zero returns in complete and then going to active listings and then going back to completed and a bunch of listings show up. All sorts of crazy things. I've had it do that to me too. Love the pitcher!

    @charper99 CHAR ... Wow! That's a terrific find! Goodonya!

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... truer words never spoken...so easy to strip the bed and so very hard to get it made back up. 🙂

Hi to BOB, BILL, & NANCY P!

  • @mary Mary, for $5 I would have brought that home too -- it's lovely! I rarely search on eBay -- usually just check to see what people in this group are selling.

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... Good to see you...been a while. That's a lovely old glove box, usually seen in milk glass. It's as old as a lot of EAPG, but not considered EAPG because it's not a pattern that was made for like tableware where you'd have at least a table set (butter, sugar, creamer, spooner). I don't know who made it in that green...fascinating color. Dithridge & Company made it in milk glass, but I don't know if they made other colors.

  • @10bbg10 HELEN ... my understanding was that free shipping helps the Seller in the "Best Match" rating, but has no bearing on ones TRS status.

@george GEORGE ... Well, there is a good side to having rented the booth. I have a ton of inventory sitting around this house in every nook and cranny, so I've just been sitting here all evening tagging what I already have. I won't have any trouble filling up the booth once they get the shelving installed for me, and that should help me get my house back to some semblance of order. 🙂

@mary cxgirl MARY ... LOL...I'm far from organized. This makes 4 booths in 4 different towns..Yikes! I did have 5 and gave up 2 as it just was just too much work. Promised myself to stick with just the 3 booths...so much for my promises! 😀

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... I believe your "sun-purple" did not come about naturally. That deep color means it was artificially done. Here is an article that will help .... http://www.patternglass.com/this_color_purple_99.htm

  • Good afternoon, glassies. Was so tired from yesterday that I slept in late, only to have my sister drop by and say she had just come from the new Fleamarket...and she rented a booth. Slapped some clothes on, grabbed a coca-cola, and headed back out of town to help her set up her booth. Just got home. 102° outside. Yikes!

@fyrqueen KATIE ... so glad your DD is doing better.

@donscns DON ... so glad, too, to hear you seem to be free of the eye problem.

@sellingthings MARTY ... hopefully you are in a win-win situation....either it's nothing or if any treatment is needed you can begin right away and nip it in the bud.

@kasi KASI ... so good to see you checking in. Surely hope the treatment improves your knee and does so quickly. Keep us posted.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... hopefully REEN will be in and able to help you with your lamps. They look awfully dark to be sun-purpled. Either they were made in amethyst or else someone has artificially nuked them.

@reen REEN ... I'm not too familiar with Pyrex. Would this site help at all? http://www.pyrexlove.com/vintage-pyrex-pattern-guide/

HI to GEORGE, HELEN, and AMBER!

  • Good Morning everyone. We had a day of sunshine yesterday but woke this morning to very dark skies and drizzling rain. Bang goes my chance of getting the lawn mowed today.
@mary WOW that is a hug vase!!
@carma eBay will never learn , will they..to leave well enough alone!! They have to keep in tweaking things
@amber1986 It seems eBay has not been working with a full deck for a long time.I am sure they are missing a few kangaroos in the top paddock LOL
@shellyrae37 Yep I remember that show when Lucy was working in the candy factory LOL
@songbreeze Lovely little basket. I am looking at a few sites to see if I can find it as I am sure its European or English. The site I just checked where I am sure they have an example is down for maitenance. But I'll check a few others & see if i can come up with anything.
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... oh, my stars and body! what a huge piece of glass and, no, I cannot imagine trying to pack that. Definitely for local pick-up only or take it to a professional custom packer. Surprised it didn't reach a higher price.

@10bbg10 HELEN ... best of luck in your search! Not nearly as important, but equally frustrating, has been my search for my watch. Couldn't imagine where it went. I take it off to wash dishes or to wash my hair. Checked all my pants pockets and no luck. Finally broke down last night and went to WalMart and bought a new watch. First thing this morning as I went to get dressed and reached for my slacks that were hanging up, I spied it on the floor where it obviously had fallen out of my pocket. 🙂

@shellyrae37 SHELLY .... I LOVE that bowl and it looks similar to other patterns, but I can't pin down that exact pattern. Will keep looking. Your pink toothpick is SHELL & SEAWEED by Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co., 1894, in the pink-plated color BV is $195. Way to Go!

  • @mary – Carl is the authority so he can confirm next time he’s here, but it looks to me to be lavender rather than amethyst/purple, which is supported by the ending price.

  • Good Morning everyone. We actually got a small sample of summer yesterday. The sun shone all day , we reached 31 Celsius and it is suppose to be sunny today too. At present it is 14Celsius and suppose to reach 31Celsius . Nice and pleasant by the sounds of it, till you read that the Relative Humidity is 85%.
cxgirl @mary Yes it is the tray to the dresser set.
Janice @sunwoman3663 I am glad Tom Tam has helped make you feel much better.
Reen @reen Good Luck with the show.
Laurie @wellingtonct Here you can buy the coleslaw vegs all chopped, sliced and packaged in one bag, All you need do is add the sauce. maybe that is a way for you to go, if you would like to try the Asian Coleslaw. And I agree with Reen , give Meals on Wheels a call. Living on Yoghurt and jam surely would not be helping.
Janet @janet Let me add my Welcome 🙂

Now time to cook some breakie and then I must MOW the lawn again. It was only done on Monday(Today is Friday) And then to finish packing the van. Not much left to go in.
    Julie

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... I really don't know who did the design on the Alaska butter dish. The book said it was made by Northwood and later by Dugan. It mentions that it is "Sometimes found with tiny enameled forget-me-nots and big "elephant ear" leaves..." but it doesn't say who did the decoration.

  • Evening all, weather is looking up for a bit.

@songbreeze Gail- I always go to the Heacock books first, they have good pictures and many patterns on one page. (LOL)..... The glass you found is so beautiful, I am always in awe when glass that old survives so beautifully, and that is why I price it the way I do(LOL)........
@wattleihavenext - I just love reading your post I learn so much about your language, though I have to ask what is are Tinnies? I am thinking a pint?

@jrmrock Jesse - Happy Birthday and hope you got everything you wanted and then some 🙂 Do you find using Twitter and FB any help to sales? I have resisted but who knows one day if proven a given.

@George - Always nice when family visits, almost as good as when they leave, only kidding. Hope you had a nice visit.

@mary - I didn't see anything on your cake plate either, sorry.

  • Good Morning everyone, still raining here.
HI Gail @songbreeze I have made no plans for Australia Day as I am usually doing a market. But organisers have decided to change the day. Too wet to do anything anyway.
So I might try to get more "stuff" packed & into the van (in between the rain) for the market. Will be leaving tomrrow morning.
Bear @jpthings Thanks for that article.
Don @donscns LOL have fun with the blacklight. It is also very good for checking if anything has been repaired
Reen @reen I haven't had a chance to watch your video yet. I was just about to yesterday when I got visitors.
amber @amber1986 LOL Its Ok I won't be needing you to skitch 'em .Both buyers have now paid 🙂
Mary @mary geez I am sure I have seen that cake plate somwhere? English? Maybe Sowerby? Have a very close look in the centre to see if you can see an Rd No.

    Happy Birthday Jesse.

  • Good afternoon everyone. Been running all over the place this morning and now I’m battling a gigantic box that I’m trying to cut down to a 20x17x4 size…quite an engineering feat. Fixing it for my sister to ship one of her framed prints. Going to have to teach her how to have a stock of the right size boxes on hand. That’s a fairly left-brain thought for a right-brain artist.

@mary cxgirl MARY … very pretty cake plate, but I was unable to locate it in any of my references. Maybe @jimeapg JIM might be in and be able to tell us. Or maybe @eapg DORI would be able to tell of if it is actually EAPG so that we could continue our search in that direction.

Back to battling this dang box, I’m making….

  • Good Morning everyone. Feeling a bit down. It would have been DH's Birthday today and today we bury a young friend (49yrs old) who died suddenly lasy week.

On a happy note Happy Birthday Fran @fran
cxgirl @mary No there is no butterfly mark to be found on the perfume. That was one of the first questioned I had asked the owner
Carl @carma I wish Marley the best of luck today
Katie @fyrqueen I don't like to rake either.I leave the leaves to mulch. Where there used to be just dirt all the time from when DH would be always raking leaves, I know have green grass.
Helen @10bbg10 I was thinking about suggesting that maybe the sellers could add a link every now & then to their posts here.
    @decoqueen Thanks for looking
Lainey @favoritegram off to have a look now.
    Julie

  • @mary .....I received the Nestor pitcher today. A very pretty and heavy piece. You did a fabulous job of packing it, thank you. Now if we could just perfect that click from here to transport the glass and bypass two different Postal Agencies.
    ***Don

  • @reen REEN ... you just are looking at the angle differently. The photos are much better and it is a match for the auction. Scroll down through all her auction pics. You will see your stem/base match.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... don't ever hesitate to chime in. It's always much much better to have more than one person ID something. Sometimes we just know it wrong, or our eyes are tired and we see it wrong, or we have part of it right but can use additional information. This entire Chat Room is one of collaboration, so it's always greatly appreciated when other lend a hand.

  • @reen REEN ... why don't you take a couple of pics of some of your cake plates and we can try to help find an ID.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... I love your vase. Such a pretty pattern. I hope someone will ID it as I would like to see what else was made in that pattern.

  • @mary Thanks much for the perfume info! Just got online the first time this evening as we had quite a thunderstorm roll through here! Did you get some of it Gail?

  • @mary shoot not a problem...no need to apologize. I very much appreciated the info you DID give me! I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow then...Thanks! Suzy

  • @Mary Did you say that the stopper on the 2nd one was in the book? Did it say the maker of it? Thank you so much for looking for me and again for finding the info.

@fran2 Thank you SO much for the research you did on that cup! I feel kind of silly not even thinking of looking up the letter abbreviations....duh me! 😳 I'm also embarassed to admit that I have never quite figured out how to navigate the PGP board so I've never used it...I just count on all of my glassie friends here and you've always all come through for me!!

@newplace MM I sure will....as soon as you send that glowy green Kralik was it? piece to me so I can put it in my "glass hospital" for it's recovery...LOL!

@itsagas Bill thanks for concurring...and I will remember to use that site in the future.

  • Just back from taking care of my DS pets while she's out of town.

@suzy okcoolwheels SUZY ... Not as described is the correct thing to use when the item arrives broken. I'm scrolling UP the board so you may already have your cup commented on. Even so you might enjoy this website for restaurant ware... http://www.restaurantwarecollectors.com/

@faeowyn SHARI ... what an unusual decoration on that vase. Sorry I can't help. Hope someone else will be able to clue us in. I'm going to go ahead and post this message and then look at the other items you've posted.

@mary cxgirl MARY & @decoqueen JANICE ... oh, yea! someone who knows perfumes! I've got one of those ornate things I surely need help with. I'll take a picture at some point and maybe you all can check on it for me.

Mary... sure the seller is suppose to have the insurance built in. That's why I said "In spite of eBay policy" she made the purchase of it up to the buyer. I did not purchase it. She called eBay and wasn't particularly happy with their answer. This is a quote to me from her email "I guess I really have no option...I don't think I would normally be responsible for an item damaged in shipping (as ebay told me)...." Like JimD said...some people are just amateurs.

  • Good morning, glassies.

@nona NANCYJEAN ... oh, that sounds like so much FUN. Have a great time and come back and let us know how it went!

@shellyrae37 SHELLY & @mary cxgirl MARY ... eBay's Buyer Protection as I understand it, assures the buyer a refund of the purchase price and the original shipping charges. The buyer pays the return shipping. I think partly this is to defend a bit against someone return something for buyer remorse or some other trivial reason. The item MUST be in the sellers hands before a refund is made. I actually agree with this policy. As a seller, I would not necessarily want to refund money to someone if I did not have the item back in my possession.

All that aside, if a buyer needed to return something I certainly would pay for the return shipping along with sending sincere apologies for anything that went wrong. Bad enough the buyer is out time and money and the hassle of packing and returning the thing. I certainly wouldn't penalize them further. JMHO.

  • Good evening, glassies. Well, I went to church this morning and after Mass and coffee/cake and fellowship in the Parish Hall, my friend and I headed out of town and drove to Kansas. We shopped till we dropped! Can't say I found any particularly wonderful treasures, but did pick up a few things and had a great time.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... Oh, how I wish I could find a Steuben signature on those plates. No such luck and still searching for an ID on them.

@reen REEN ... that is absolutley positively indubitably the most gorgeous piece of glass I've seen in I don't know when...and to think it is a smoke bell! Incredible. If you ever put it up for sale, let me know.

@decoqueen JANICE ... I buy a lot of stuff from that West Virginia Museum of Glass. Last December I drove from Oklahoma to New York to Washington DC area and really wanted to stop at the Museum on my way back to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, both bad weather and the days they were closed worked against me and I had to by-pass it.

@ginnyrose CAROL ... I found this article very helpful in trying to distinguish among Fostoria American, Whitehall and Jeannette Cube. Maybe you will find it interesting too. http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y201/m05/abu0038/s06

@baabaamason BOB in KY ... sorry, I don't have any ideas on your lovely art glass items.

@susu46 SUSU ... to get the blue "mention" to show up you have to use the person's LOG-IN ID. Their display name will only work as a link if it is the same as the Log-In ID. You have to click on the avatar to see their Log-In ID. I open a second window of the chatroom so I can check the Log-In names.

@scott SCOTT and @reen REEN ... So love seeing pictures of people's collections. Terrific! and thanks to both of you for sharing. Can never see too many pictures of glass, so keep the photos coming!

@reen REEN ... if you get up to step 7, and you click the open...isn't it rather like uploading a pic to eBay. You tell it upload and then it should show up here. I can't quite remember how I did mine but it took several tries. I didn't have problem uploading the picture...I had difficulty in cropping it correctly. Are you at least getting the picture uploaded here back to your profile page?

Need to think about fixing some supper.....

  • @mary cxgirl MARY … oh my stars and body, that is some drop dead gorgeous glass. I’m swooning! Where in the world did you find such beautiful stuff? The colors are fantastic. The candlestick looks like Tiffin’s #315; the compote Tiffins #15310. I don’t know the little footed bowl. If you know the line # it would be nice to make note for those who are looking at the photos and perhaps don’t know. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful grouping.

@wattleihavenext JULIE … and a good afternoon evening to you to! 🙂

  • Good Morning ALL,
@wattleihavenext JULIE, well at least Dave is aware of who is feeding him.. Hes no dummy..
@mary Mary, Thank you for taking the time.. But don't sweat it.. If its meant to sell I will find out or it might not, with the damage it has.

Off to a sale this morning.. BBL

  • @shellyrae37 Shelly My House guest has now gone, his owners are home, so Dave will have no use for me now and will probably just ignore me LOL he knew he had to be nice to me I was his supplier of food LOL Cats are not dumb LOL
BTW I remember going to a Deceased Estate Auction probably 20 years ago and there for auction where the most beautiful framed photo's of a man in his Light Horse Brigade Uniform from WW1 I was gobsmacked that none of the family wanted it. It was a very large antique frame Just beautiful and so was the pic. But family obviously didn't want it or any of the other pics of the gentleman. Makes you wonder why? Obviously more to the story then we knew. Maybe there was no family
cxgirl @mary yes & it does sell for more.

Another thing about Antique furniture is it simply does not fit into the new homes. Size is a big factor. These new homes don't have the big wide doorways like the old homes Nor do they have the high ceilings. I have had buyers loving a piece of furniture(when we had the shop) but the size just prevented them from buying.
    Julie

  • @mary I have a small pocket guide book called Victorian Colored Glass by William Heacock. He pictures your syrup on page 120...and he himself gave it the name of PRIMROSE & PEARLS. This would be in his regular size #3 book, but I do not have that. I don't know if there is any additional information as to name, manufacturer, or date. Yes, it is EAPG.

  • @mary ... Just look over to the right of your computer screen where it says How To Post a Picture Link. Try those instructions and see if they don't work well for you.

  • @mary
Just post the URL, just like eBay !
    Fran

  • Good morning, glassies. Just can't get over how wonderful the past several days have been to wake up to lovely agreeable temperatures. Loving every minute of it.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... Look over at the column on the right side of your screen. You will see an area that says CLASS CHATROOM BOARD LINKS. Under it the Welcome to Glass Chat and How To Post a Picture Link. You hopefully will find complete , yet easy, instructions on how to post a link. If you have any problems, just let us know.

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... Good to see you dropping back in. Kinda missed seeing your post between me typing a long one to Fran, then my sis calling and chatting on the phone forever. 🙂

  • GOOD MORNING ALL, Hi GAIL, MARY, Thrifty Sr., & DOLORES,
@DOLORES, Get pictures of the dogs in pool. My sons Dogs will not go in the big pool, but maybe just as well.
@MARY I have a niece named Riley.. She is cute as a button too..

  • Good morning, glassies. Sitting here with coffee in hand and one eye opened. Wow, I'm tired. Guess all that shopping yesterday was a lot more exercise than I thought! Looking forward to unwrapping all the purchases today and researching for the IDs.

@mary , cxgirl, Mary ... Welcome to the Chatroom! What a sweet-looking furkid you have there!
