• Good morning. It's starting to feel a lot like Spring here. I love this time of year where there is still a bit of winter in the mornings and evenings and sunny Spring weather during the day

Jim @dorbitz as they say "it's a small world"

Katie @fyrqueen I do know that the jadeite Hens on Nest have been reproduced but I am not sure how to tell the difference.I think there is an actual webiste for all the repro Jadeite and I am sure Fran (dbfrogs_Fran @fran) would know. Do you have her as a friend on Facebook?

  • Good morning... brrrr a very cold frosty start to the day 2 Celsius. After bootcamp I met up with a friend for a walk. Lots of frost about and It looked very pretty BUt OMG it was cold out in it. The sun has come up now and the sky is clear. Looks like it will turn into a lovely warm winters day, good for being outdoors. Suppose to reach 19C (66F)

Thanks again everyone for the birthday wishes and thanks @fran for the cake I did have a lovely time celebrating with family and friends.

2 more days and I will be heading off to Bali. Can't wait!!

  • Fran @fran shares the same birthday as my DH. So you can see I've been having a bit of a roller coaster ride with emotions these past few days

    To Fran

  • @fran We hope Doug's confidence is confirmed! and it is not serious. George

  • Good Evening folks. Its been a full on day again for me with the grandkids But I loved every minute of it, especially the minute when I dropped them off back home LOL
Shelly @shellyrae37 Yes I am very blessed to be able to spend so much time with my grandkids. I love them "all the money on the world and to the moon and back"
I read a little saying on Facebook once " I thought I was too old to fall in love again But then I had grandkids"
Gail @songbreeze from now till January I will be having the GK 2 days a week OMG I am exhausted just thinking about that LOL But I am sure I will get used to it and my body will adapt to all the lifting and walking around with one child attached to hip
Irene @jmart8248 Enjoy your rest 🙂 I am sitting here having a nice cold beer after having the GKs I don't normally drink during the week But I think I deserve a "tinny or two" ( Aussie slang for having a beer)
Wendy @wjweese That is a gorgeous set you crotchet
Fran @fran waving madly at you!!!

Heading off tomorrow morning(Friday) for a weekend away, camping .Its a motor bike Rally that the club Dh was a member and I am an Honorary member, holds every year. Lots of fun and laughter And I will see some ppl I only ever see once a year. Ppl from all over, that religiously make the ride every year.
See you all when I get back
    Julie 🙂

  • Good afternoon everyone. Rain has gone and we are back to sunshine.
This Grandma has had a very big morning and is now totally drained, so time to sit and recharge 🙂
Fran @fran I am so pleased you got a chance to pop in for a visit. You have been missed very much here, even though I do keep in touch with you through Facebook.
    Julie

  • Good Morning Glassies...

@fran Fran, so good to see you posting here. I'm not on FB and have wondered how you were doing. Glad that everything has turned out well for you. Enjoy your GS, these are the best years!

  • Good morning, glassies.

@fran FRAN ... gee, it sure is nice to see you posting. Really miss you. Hope you continue to improve and feel 100% soon. Good luck with the frog jump!

HI to AMBER, JULIE, GEORGE, and MARSON.

  • Fran @fran It is so good to see you posting again. Do take care ((((((hugs))))))
    Julie

  • @fran .... Fran, good to see you, but very sorry to hear of the new health concerns. Hope everything gets back to normal for you real soon!

  • @justmim MIM ... well, it's a long long long way to Indianapolis from Oklahoma...but I won't completely discount ever getting there again sometime. 🙂

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... Look forward to seeing pics of your plates. I had to watch the Biggest Loser and Fashion show tonight. Funny to think I went a year with no TV and never missed it at all. But now that I have the TV, I have my evening favorite programs , particularly on Tuesday and Thursday that I don't want to miss. 🙂

@fran FRAN ... so glad to see you posting, but darn, I'm so sorry you are having such a plethora of health problems. You just can't seem to catch a break there. Sure hope the medicine works quickly and works well for you.

  • Good gravy, glassies...I didn't crawl out of bed til after 11:00 am!

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... I had a terrible time last night with my computer. I tried to get a St. Pat's gif as there were tons that were so cute, but every time I tried to save them they would only save as a bmp not a gif. And then if I tried to load them on my imaging host it won't accept the bmp. The reason we have the one I posted as it was the only one out of dozens that finally saved as a gif. Have no idea why this is happening.

Sorry that I'm of no help with your lovely items. Sure wish I knew.

@fran FRAN .... so glad to hear you are improving. We've really been missing you.

  • Good Morning sunshine again today. Maybe, just maybe, if this keeps up the concretors can come do my drive way. I have only been waiting since Xmas
Shelly @shellyrae37 Must be the day for sleeping in. I didn't get up till 8a.m. So no swimming or walking for me this morning
BTW I too like all my meals fresh not frozen and thats what I love about the menu it is all fresh produce. Last week on the menu was vegetable soup. It was delicious and the recipe was for 4 serving, which I did freeze the remaining serving for another day.
Marty @sellingthings I hope your knee heals quickly.
Fran @fran I love that bowl When I first set eyes on it I thought European and then my mind says start looking at Brockwitz first. But I have fouund nothing .So went on and checked out other companies and still came up empty. Maybe Gail & Toby are correct and it is newer.
Gail @songbreeze I have been trying to access the GMB and I too can't get in.
    Julie

  • Home from going to Saturday evening Mass. Have to remember to turn my clocks up. Will be able to sleep late tomorrow though since I made it to Church tonight. 🙂

@enchantmentglass KELLI ... Your picture is, indeed, 1,000 times better. They look Italian to me ...

@fyrqueen KATIE ... wow, with all those sales. I'd never have that much luck selling stuff. Goodonya.

@itsagas BILL ... gee, you made me hungry. I stopped on the way home and bought some deli stuff and had a cold supper...boring.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so good to see you. errata = a list of corrected errors that were in a book or writing. Oh, as I scroll further I see everyone has already answered. 🙂

@10bbg10 HELEN ... I want to get some more auctions up too, but I have to take my friend shopping tomorrow. Will see if I still have some energy left over.

@jessie JESSIE ... Good to see you. Hope all has been well for you.

  • Fran @fran whoops sorry I also meant to answer your question
errata is the correction to errors in some of the reference books
    Julie

  • Good evening Glass Friends,
I really had a chuckle about the description of the skin problems of the 2 vases.

@fran --- It is so good to hear that you are feeling better. Been worried about you.
I think that an author offers an 'errata ' as a list of all the errors in a particular book. Right ? Wrong?

I took more pics today. My fingers did not get so cold this time. The temps must have been several degrees warmer.

Got 3 auctions all ready to go. Will do at least 3 more tomorrow.

See y'all in the morning. Helen or bbg

  • Kelli @enchantmentglass I had a very vague feeling right in the back of my brain I had seen that vase somewhere before. I have looked at just about all the sites I thought it could possibly be, that I have. But haven't found a match yet. I think maybe my brain is playing games with me again 😆
Fran @fran I'm so glad to see you. 🙂 ((((hugs)))))
Katie @fyrqueen I'm having (lunch) roasted pumpkin & capsicum "pizza" Wholegrain wrap topped with pesto then the pumpkin, capsicum. fetta cheese and pine nuts. baked in oven 10 mins. Very nice 🙂

  • @fran - hey! Glad to hear you're nearly feeling back to normal! I'll take your word for it on the cleaning lady, what a treat that must be!

@fyrqueen - we go down to Hatch at the end of summer, first part of fall and buy chiles right off the farm. 🙂 A friend has one of those big roasters, and we all get together and do a big chile roast, then peel and bag bunches of them and split them up between us all. Usually get enough to last us through at least the first part of the winter, we use them in/on/under/around everything, too.

  • @fran FRAN ... so very glad to see you posting again. How dear of your hubby to get you a household helper. You really do need to give your body time to heal...to take things slowly and get your strenghth back.

Still fighting allergies here, head congested, and tickly throat. Was up off and on throughout the night for the past few days trying to clear my head and calm my cough. Have a lot I'd like to do today, but already thinking about how nice a nap would feel. 🙂

  • @fran ... Fran, so glad you are feeling better. You've been missed here on the GB. Try to take it easy for a little while.

  • Fran @fran I am so glad you are feeling well enough to post here. Rest up and let the cleaning lady do her job.I am sure she will be fine with all your glass. She is a professional and should know how to treat quality glass
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies. Have to pack a couple of items but then I have to go get a leak in my car's tire fixed.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so sorry you have been so ill. Do take your recovery slow and easy and don't overdo. Be sure to take Reen's advise, it's very important.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... that shape looks exactly like my ivy ball! Thanks so much!

@sunwoman3663 JANICE ... The pattern for your spooner is English Hobnail and Thumbprint.

@10bbg10 HELEN ... like you, the free listing was also quite kind to me. 🙂

Hi to SHELLY, CARL, KATIE, REEN.

  • Helen @10bbg10 It is always a good feeling when you meet your goals. Goodonya!!
Fran @fran I am so relieved to hear you are improving a bit each day. Saw your pics on FB and oh my!! you lost so much weight. I hope it won't be long and you will be back to your healthy self
    Julie

  • @fran Greeting to you Fran. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. But experience with others who have had the same or similar problems is that it is a slow recovery. So be ever careful and take care of yourself. Helen

  • Good Morning everyone. Sun is still shining but it is very humid. My sister & I hit a few garage sale this morning. I really felt like getting out and doing some hunting. Didn't find much but I did manage to buy a few sellable items that will be packed for next weekends swap. Enough things to at least fill one of the empty tubs. Then we had breakfast at a nice little restaurant to finish off the morning

Thanks everyone for the kind words re the passing of my friend
Shelly @shellyrae37 The friend that just passed away was not the friend I spoke about before that was ill. This friend passed away very suddenly and very unexpected. As far as we all knew she was "healthy" So it has been a big shock to us all
Fran @fran I am so glad you are on the mend.... more ((((((hugs))))))
Gail @songbreeze Congrats on your sales!!
    Julie

  • @10bbg10 Helen: I'm so glad you didn't fall for that scam...in my heart I KNEW you were too smart for that anyway!

@songbreeze Gail: Way to go on the great sales!! Now that should get you motivated to list some more....get goin' now! 🙂

@fran Fran: Sure hope you get to come home from the hospital today...never a fun place to be. You made me smile with the wrinkled comment though 🙂

@wattleihavenext Julie: Please add my condolences for your friend. Very sad.

  • Good morning, glassies.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so sorry to hear how ill you have been all week. That's a terrible amount of weight-loss in such a short period. Eat bananas, bananas, bananas...they have lots of potassium.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... so sad to read of your friend's passing particularly when it was so unexpected. (((((Hugs)))))

@ver2us1 JANICE ... I print all my postage on-line and of course have free Delivery Confirmation on Priority, but was bowled over at the Post Office yesterday when someone asked for it and was told it cost 85¢ now!

@amber1986 AMBER ... sure hope your ankle is treating you kindly today.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... so glad they got you on a stronger medicine and you are responding well to it.

@justmim MIM ... I love a thermo cup, too, for hot and cold drinks as I am a "sipper" and it takes forever for me to finish a drink.

Yesterday's Buyer paid for their item, so I need to go wrap it up and get to the PO....

  • Fran @fran Get well soon!!! (((hugs)))

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... well, for heaven's sake! I'm sure they are taking very good care of you. Becoming dehydrated is just awful. Sorry you are ill enough to be in the hospital, but so glad you are where you need to be to be taken very good care of. (((((HUGS)))))

  • Good afternoon everyone. I'm back from the swap and pleased with my sales 🙂 Only thing I am not so happy about was the fact that on Saturday setting up my stall I broke that DDG Reich Trinket set Tray 😥 😥 😥

Fran @fran ((((((hugs)))))) to you & Doug.
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... So glad that the surgery will not entail the degree of complexity and recovery time that the first surgery did. I know it will still be difficult but hopefully you will have a speedy recovery from it.

@wellingtonct LAURIE ... sorry for the residual problems you've had over the years from the car accident. Wishing you the best of continued recovery and I put you in my nightly prayer list.

@reen REEN ... hope you and DH are having a delightful time at the show today and good luck with sales! and @wattleihavenext JULIE ... wishing all the same to you at your swap meet today!

Just sold an item....eBay notice shows a Florida address...PayPal notice shows and Australia address. No note from the Buyer where to ship it which is a shame as I could have it to the Post Office in an hour. I sent her and eBay email, but if I don't hear from her soon, it will probably mean I won't be able to mail her item until Monday.

  • Kelli @enchantmentglass I looked at a few sites too but sorry I am of no help either. beautiful whoever it was that made it.
Fran @fran all the best for your up and coming surgery.
Reen @reen I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as I am setting up my stall too 😉
Irene @jmart8248 Happy Birthday for the 18th which is tomorrow down here. I will be away for your b/day so I'll get in early. Have a great day 🙂
    Julie

  • @fran Fran, I hope you & Doug have a wonderful time in SF. This past December, Mike & I stayed at the Sir Francis Drake. Make sure to get a photo with the doorman!

  • Welcome Home Fran @fran Looks like you and Doug had a great time.
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so glad to see you. You sure aren't joking about being busy. Don't know how you keep up that pace. Whewwww! Sorry about the foot surgery. When is it set for?

@10bbg10 HELEN ... what a lovely painting! I can see where you really like it.

  • Good morning, glassies. We got our first snow of the year last night. About 1" and the roads are clear. Nothing quite as nice as an Oklahoma snow. 🙂 It will be gone tomorrow. Sure pretty to see it this morning though. Took Rocky off to the groomer. Poor thing was looking particularly shaggy. It doesn't take much for a Shih Tzu to look shaggy.

Got a lovely email from @fran dbfrogs FRAN. She said I could share....
We had the most amazing vacation, we saw Humpback Whales, so close to the boat you could here them breath, one huge Male jumped completely out of the water!, I felt like I was with National Geographic, LOL. I got my computer back today, and the keyboard does not work!!!!! ;o( I also got a bad case of the Flu,I am starting to feel better, the fever is finally almost gone, it seems to go higher in the evening. We loved the food, our friends were great tour Guides, I loved the cobble stone roads. As soon as I feel better, I will get back with the Glassies.... I got some beautiful wine glasses, They are Threaded, amazing!
    Oh and Danny got engaged...WooHoo;o)
    Love, Fran
(You can post this if Ypu wish)
I sure missed you , and all my Glassie friends!

  • @george we will have to tell Dave to come visit here more often
@fran DDG!!! Congratulations 🙂 And enjoy your get away as I am sure you will 😉
    Julie

  • Looks like more rain is coming
Gail @songbreeze whoops indeed or as we would say down here "bugger!!"
Fran @fran I bet you are very excited 🙂
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... thanks! Yes, she is the Draped Lady. Have a wonderful trip and take pictures to share with us!

@george gabla GEORGE ... our church is very old so that little drive thru was built years ago before the advent of big extra tall vans and SUVs and Hummers and stuff. Guess they'll wind up building something a little more suitable to today's means of transportation. The van is a commercial van from one of the residential care homes. Hopefully they have good insurance coverage.

Time for bed so Good Night to All........

  • Shelly @ @shellyrae37 No Fran @fran is not on her vacation just yet but they have been enjoying themselves going for Harley rides on their new bike, dining out and meeting up with friends. I keep up with them on Facebook 😉
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN .... oh, it just looks so gorgeous! You will have a wonderful time! It's just beautiful!

  • went to the local club for a couple of beers with sister and a flutter on the pokies. I lost she won
    @fran WTG on winning
@scott I am pleased your shaker turned out to be what you wanted
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... Good luck! I know you always have fun with your friends.

  • Miss P gone. We had a great day together. She is growing so fast and such a treat to watch her as she grows and learns. She is hilarious sometimes She already has a thing for shoes LOL
@fran and when you go to Bali I am just a stones throw away so you will have to travel a bit further down to visit me 🙂
    Julie

  • Little one is having her arvo nap 🙂
OK checked on what our FVF are down here and its 7.90% capped at $49.95 if you are eligible for the free listings. 7.9% if powerseller but no Cap.
@fran How exciting for you to have your holiday booked. My trip to Bali is getting closer and I am getting excited too
    Julie

  • @fran My kids would have and the grands do. But tell me how do you convince a dog to squat in snow that is over her head? LOL Even stomped down it doesn't feel right to her.

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... oh, you will have so much fun on your vacation. Be sure and take pictures so we can "vacation" too! 🙂

  • Hi nice to see you here Fran @fran but know you have been busy. I hope you get more time soon to be able to "hang about" here 🙂 Weird things happen on ebay LOL If I use Chrome all seems OK, and eyt I had two windows open with IE , one was OK the other not..weird
What Bill and I are seeing is very much the same as the little box we have here that we type our message in. My whole auction is in a box like this and you need to scroll up and down to see everything
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... Hi, there! You still staying busy? We miss you.

@lilac1987 SARA ... so sorry, I've know idea of the value. Usually I just try to keep my eye on eBay completed auctions to get a clue as to what market value is bringing.

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... well, HI there! Good to see you!

  • @fran Fran - Thanks, I saw that article on the Doty site. My concern is if it is a repro, then I sell for $10-$20. If it is a real Northwood, then the price goes up !!! How do I tell?

  • Good afternoon, glassies.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so good to see you checking in. How nice to be able to share the holidays with family and friends.

@amber1986 AMBER ... oh, no, I have not had my home destroyed in any way. All is well. What I was talking to Bill about were the homes destroyed in the Joplin, Mo., tornado this past year. A section of the business area has been rebuilt, but most of the damage was done to the residential areas in the path of the tornado.

@sunwoman3663 JANICE ... you go to the page where all your selling items on eBay are listed. Copy that long URL. Come back here to your profile page and paste the URL.

@donscns DON ... yes, that plate is SHELL AND TASSEL, George Duncan & Sons, #555, d. 1881. One of my favorite patterns.

@enchantmentglass KELLI ... when I see an error in something I posted and I want to correct it, I simply highlight the entire message, copy it, paste it in a new message box. I make the correction and post the message. The first post with the error...I simply hit the delete button.

  • @fran How could we not LOL Sorry to hear about the meds problems. Sometimes the cure can be worse than the condition.

  • Was out & about today -- hair appointment in the am and then visited with my girlfriend down at the Jersey Shore (she lives near Asbury Park). The weather was lovely, in the high 50's and sunny, on the first day of Winter! We strolled the Boardwalk, had a nice lunch, and did a little shopping.

@songbreeze Gail, isn't Big Bang Theory great? I discovered it 2 years ago and finally, last year, got my husband to watch. He loves it (which has made birthday shopping easy, I keep buying him the DVDs).

    @donscns Don, that is awful!!

@fran Fran, how are you feeling? I thought you & Doug were going to Mexico for a wedding? I have to admit I've been to SF already -- the conference was a week earlier this year and Mike's part was at the beginning of the week instead of the end. It was the nicest weather I've ever had when in SF -- sunny and in the high 50's the whole time (that was 12/3 to 12/7, arrived the Saturday night & took the red-eye home on Wed., 12/7). Will post my photos soon.

  • Fran @fran , JimD @newtonenterprises & George @george I am guessing Tawain of one of those places for the glass lady. I checked out Boyd & Mosser nothing there. I checked Desna but nothing there, though they did have the lady in the bathtub, the same seller is selling. BUt Desna's were clear glasss no coloured.
Don @donscns Now that is a good report about your seller packing well. And Yes if only all sellers would take the time to think about what they are packing and what that item mush go through before it reaches its new owner
Gail @songbreeze..So glad you slept well BUT oh deary me!! what a disappointment for you to receive broken glass
Shelly @shellyrae37 Its our longest day of the year here 🙂 They say that this is our coldest Summer in 50 years.
amber @amber1986 condolences to you & your family for your loss ((hugs))
    Julie

  • GOOD MORNING GLASSIES - today I was able to see @fran glassware - very nice. Marson

  • @fran Fran -
Just checked out IE version 9 - 64 bit & Looks good there also !!!!

  • Hi JULIE - I was trying to figure out how to do the blue @wattleihavenext thing but I think I got it LOL....however I tried again to see @fran vase but this time got an Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Don't know what that's all about. Marson

  • Fran @fran I am using IE and I had no problems seeing your pretties
HI Bob @baabaamason Oh Ok I misunderstood. When Marson posted "Hi wattleihavenext testing to see if I’ll get the @whatever – no …. after the name." I thought she was trying to work out how we do the blue for members names. I really like that feature. I know immediately when I log on here how many posts have been made to me.Sometimes when speed scrolling it is so easy to miss posts but using that feature No more missed posts
    Julie

  • @fran Fran -
Using Google Chrome & no problems opening link !

  • @fran i use Foxfire 7. Your link opens for me each time you posted it. Love your blue table.

  • Fran @fran why doesn't the blue thingy work and I keep getting a .gif error when I try to see your blue vase. What am I doing wrong ?? me again

  • Good Morning everyone. Still getting the cooler weather with rain here and there. I am so loving this summer LOL Weather man says he reckons once the month is over and an average is done, this may very well be the coldest December we have had for a very long time. I am not complaining. My ideal temp is 20-25 Celius And thats what we have been having. 🙂
Gail @songbreeze I do hope you finally get a restful good nights sleep.
Fran @fran Love your aqua table
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... oh, now I see what you mean by your Aqua Table...all your items have the aqua color running through them. Just a lovely lovely display!

  • Good afternoon to everyone. Been Christmas shopping today with sister and I am exhausted.Time to sit , rest & scroll the board
Don @donscns & Gail @songbreeze Fingers crossed the seller listened to you and has packed your items securely enough to survive the trip. Don lovely pitcher
Fran @fran I am glad you finally got your vase 🙂
    Shelly @shellyrae37 sleep well

  • @glassusa (Bob) That helps. I wanted to use the term 'petal footed' but felt I was imagining things. These glasses do have lines on the bottom so guess that eliminates Fry.
@shellyrae37 Sleep well! You , too, Gail. I think I might turn in a little early, too.
@reen I saw your tray and thought it pretty. Doesn't look like any of the Elegant Glass that I remember. Looks older. Do you think it is EAPG?
@fran ----Aqua glass table? Did I miss something? Beautiful vase.
When a store item of mine came up for renewal today I realized that I had no idea where it and the mate to it were. I spent 15 minutes looking for them but did not find them so had to take the listings down. I'm sure they had not sold but search through my emails anyway. Didn't find them there either. I'm sure they will turn up soon. Need to do some reorganizing anyway.
Our eldest DGD will be here in a few days. She usually 'inventories' my stuff each time she comes . Maybe she will remember or find them.

  • Well, I'm exhausted, but the bed has been disassembled and carted off and the 7' queen-size futon made it out the front door. Everything straightened and vacuumed now.

@sellingthings MARTY ... don't know your items but they both look very contemporary to me.

@reen REEN ... same as Marty, I don't know your plate but it, too, looks very contemporary to me.

@donscns DON ... What a beautiful gift to yourself! You will never regret it if you spent that much time before you took the plunge to buy it. If I wait a long time, and find myself still thinking about a piece that I've left behind, then I know if it's still available I will never have regrets about buying it regardless of the cost.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... so glad for you that you were finally able to get a lovely Dugan piece.

@enchantmentglass KELLI ... I was just reading about all the blizzard conditions! Sounds horrible. Looks like we might be just far enough north to only get the rain...not the snow. It has been raining all day and is suppose to continue tomorrow, but the temperature will probably stay above freezing.

Well, I need to go find some bedding. Since I no longer have a bed, I'll be sleeping on the divan tonight. 😀

  • Fran @fran I am glad you had a lovely night with your boys. YUMMY Crab feast sounds great!!
    @sewerrats welcome
    Julie

  • @jpthings / Bear @songbreeze / Gail @fran / Fran
Thanks to each of you for help with my jar. I have the ad all written and ready to go with this title:::
Pfaltzgraff YORKTOWNE 2pc Jar Ginger Incense Potpourri Stoneware Holder Garlic
With the first 55 characters being::
Pfaltzgraff YORKTOWNE 2pc Jar Ginger Incense Potpourri

Thought for a while that I had a rare item but there are many of the different Pfaltzgraff patterns on eBay under "Ginger Jar". But only one in the Yorktowne pattern which had sold recently---- for only $1.99 with $6-$7 Expedited shipping. Glad I spent less than $1 for it.

I started trying to go for my book and bed at 8:30 last evening. Kept piddling with this and other stuff until 12:30 am.

  • @songbreeze Gail - Your coffee is so cute today.

@fran Fran - Got to love modern technology, it just keeps getting better and better. Have a Great Dinner with DS & GF and now you can use your new camera to capture the moments 🙂

  • @10bbg10 HELEN ... there's only one calling it an incense cap
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PFALTZGRAFF-decorative-ceramic-vase-incense-cap-/220915488748?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336f96d7ec

There are 31 calling it a ginger jar.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... I know you will have a delightful time with your DS and his girlfriend. Lucky you with such a fine camera!

  • Interesting . I had considered neither of those--- ginger jar or incense burner. I'll do some further research to try to determine if Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne made either of those items. Looks like Replacements calls it a Ginger Jar though there are no images available there.
    Thank you very kindly .
    @fran and @songbreeze

  • @fran I've thought about it and, ok, yes I will admit to having a glass addiction!!...lol. Unfortunately, it appears that I have a "stuff" addiction...too much stuff!! Getting a bit tough to walk around here. Wow what great news for you to be able to stop a medication you've been taking for years...you sure don't hear that very often! Congrats to you for doing all the right things that made that even possible!

Helen: I am so sorry to hear that that story hit closer to home than we knew. It's all just so sad for so many people 🙁

  • Lainey @favoritegram I am so pleased to read that your car was found
We had our van stolen a number of years ago on Christmas night. DH & I were not even home.We only found out about it because the theives pulled into a petrol station, filled up and took off without paying. It was all captured on security footage. And they left the van just around the corner of the pertrol station and jumped a train.
Fran @fran Its marvelous what a bit of healthy living can do for you. I am so pleased for you.
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... That's just super news! I'm so happy for you!

As far as dogwood, that flower only has 4 petals. The one on this tumbler has 5 petals.

@donscns DON ... When I search Northwood and Cosmos I'm only coming up with a Carnival Glass pattern and it looks different. I need to find some more examples.

  • @fran Fran good for you. Those are a lot better for you than the pharmaceuticals.

    george

  • @enchantmentglass KELLI ... OK, so you HAD the sweater. What I want to know is did you actually WEAR it? !!!! 😮

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... Sure glad you are seeing your doctor tomorrow and I'm sure he will be able to get your medicine corrected so that you will feel tip-top.

Now I started for bed about an hour ago. Since my bedroom is only 10 feet from where I'm sitting, I don't know why it's taking me so long to get there....

    Good night!

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... So glad you are over your "bug". Was wondering where you had been the last few days. Sorry you are having some difficulties with your meds. Glad you have the appointment to get them sorted out.

@baabaamason BOB in KY ... I'm sure you are having a lot of fun with your new screen. That's super and really adds to the enjoyment of the internet.

  • Evening All,

Love all the activities at Christmas time, but it sure takes a toll on time.

@itsagas - If you look at Fenton's #737 Comport it looks more like the foot of yours and it measures 3 3/4 inches http://www.shetlarglass.com/stretchglass/SGCompanies/Fenton/Fenton08a.htm , Also in Fenton Art Glass 1907 - 1939 by Whitmyer all the pieces have the pattern on the base.

@mainewildrose SUE - Congrats on the new grandbaby, will say prayers for your DIL and Baby. You and Gail still give me hope in some day I will get one(LOL).

@fran - Your table setting is beautiful, she looks so pretty peeking out. And I love your candles, very unique.

@reen - Indiana glass also made sandwich pattern using Duncan Miller #41Mold

@10bbg10 HELEN - Not sure what your question was, but I have shipsaver Insurance never had to make a claim but several people I know have and the only problem was when they shipped to one of their non insured countries. What they needed was print off the Invoice showing the cost, then there is a shipping charge no matter who paid for it, so they just need to send a copy of the receipt. They will not reimburse the shipping charges, but they will send pay for the item when provided with the right info. You can always call them, they have always been very helpful to me.

  • Good Morning everyone.
LOL @ the posts re the salt LOL You do have to be very careful that you don't get a bad batch of salt. This can sometimes cause blurring of the pics even though you do have all the movements synched to perfection & tongue at the correct angle. LOL. I personally use Saxa Iodised salt LOL
Gial @songbreeze I am so pleased your booth in Joplin is doing well WTG!!!
Fran @fran your table setting is beautiful. I am thinking it is about time I started to do dinner parties again so i can set gorgeous tables.
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies.

@newtonenterprises JIM D ... Fantastic pictures! You're the spitting image of your mother. Wonderful photos!

@10bbg10 HELEN ... Do hope the medicine helps and quickly so.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN ... oh, that is such sad news about your friend and her husband that it just doesn't bear thinking about. What a horrible heartbreak.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... glad the heat/humidity are holding off for a while. I know how you hate it, but unfortunately, also how you hate air conditioning so you don't have that to help alleviate the temp.

  • Hello all,
Just a quick check in here. Seems that today has been a mish mash . Start to do one thing but get drawn off of that to do something else. I did get a poinsettia delivered to the mall for them to use as a door prize at their open house this week end.

And cooked a pot of beans and ham. We do like our beans and ham

DH saw the dr about his croupy cough. Will get an e-ray tomorrow. Nobody in at my dr's office but I'm to call in the morning to schedule an appointment. I'm sure she will send me for x-rays, too. Normal temperatures for both of us. Just worried about the possibility of pneumonia for these two old folks.

@fran So sad about the death of the young man. Sometimes life just does not seem Of course it hurts even more when a child is involved. Will keep your friend in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope that you will be feeling better

@shellyrae37 Will be thinking of you and yours, too.

Had a funny little experience today. My techie / nursey DD came by to check on us. I ask her to format a a disc for my camera. She blew a couple of breaths on it and stuck it in the camera. All fixed and formatted. She has done this before when I was having trouble getting a disc to work in my computer. She laughed and said "Mom always try a blow job first."

  • Gail @songbreeze you are forever busy Sleep well.
Don @donscns Glad you are back up & running, even if a little slow
Shelly @shellyrae37 Continued Positive thoughts for your FIL
BTW it has been rather cool here since the first day of summer. Nothing much over the 20 celsius temps and the early mornings I have woken up needing to pull up the blankets, my little footsies have been cold LOL
OMG!!!! you are kidding me!!! aren't you???? a cheque for $0.05 Heavens above it would cost them more then that to send it...yep yep yep thats eBay for you.
Fran @fran so sorry you are still not feeling 100% and (((((hugs)))))) to you in the sad loss of a friend.Just too sad and Christmas just around the corner. It will be DH's memorial next week, so I know from experience how hard Xmas is going to be from now on for your friend & family. The sadness is forever there in the background no matter how hard you try to enjoy 🙁
    Julie

  • Fran @fran sorry you have been unwell
Amber @amber1986 Goodonya!!!. You know Amber was one of the names I had picked for my DD 🙂
Katie @fyrqueen sounds like you did well with your box of treasures
    Julie

  • @fran dbfrogs FRAN ... So sorry to hear you have been feeling ill. Glad you are feeling better today. Wow, more surgery, but you seem to be very happy about it so I will be happy for you too.

Sleepy sleepy me, so I'll say good night to all.

  • @jpthings BEAR ... my kids were 33, 34, and nearly 39 before they had their first child. Seems times have changed and the young ones are waiting til they are much older before starting their families.

@fran dbfrogs FRAN & @enchantmentglass KELLI ... I am so glad that you all did all not have any damage. The pictures on tv looked horrible, the reports really were frightening, and I really worried about you all. Hope Alicia and Lainey and Don fared well too.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... hope you enjoyed your "lazy day." 🙂

@glassusa BOB ... what a relief when you saw that PayPal payment! Bravo for an honest Buyer!

  • Bear @jpthings & Fran @fran be patient Melanie is aged 36 so there is plenty of time yet for you to become Grandma's 😉
Bear Its such a cute little sugar and creamer and there are a few English Porcelain Companies that made very similar to each other (Meakin, Grindley & Johnston Bros) so I should be able to buy well for Miss P over the next 20 years And just being the plain pink I will be able to mix & match other pieces too e.g designs with pink roses on them .
    Julie

  • Evening All, just got back from having dinner with hubby. Nice place down the street no frills no thrills but solid good food. Had a good laugh though, they wrapped all the photos in wrapping paper to make them look like presents. It was very festive with the exception that on of the paper had Ho Ho Ho all over it. But they wrapped it upside down and it reads OH OH OH, I was the first one to notice it all week we all had a good laugh.

@wattleihavenext - See I have devious plan, nothing will go home with the child, they can have fun with all the things around the house and they will get attached to them, so when they are older they will have fond memories of things and want to have them. 🙂 But I like your idea of starting Miss P on a Collection, sounds so cute.

@Fran - Mine is 30 and Momma is impatient(LOL).... But I will survive this and when the time is right it will happen, until then I will live for the grand nieces and Newphew (LOL)... They were showing pictures of your windstorm, hopefully you didn't have any damage.

@glassusa Bob - Glad it turned out well for you, maybe the buyer realized that you were honest in returning part of the shipping, so wanted to be honest on their part.

@jmart8248 IRENE M - Maybe she didn't know what season it was suppose to be either.

  • Evening All, Been out Christmas shopping, and driving home in the dark seeing all the houses lit up. I love this time of year.

@fran - Well at least you get to see them at work, that is a plus. It is hard to not see them but we go on. But at least he should give you a call, that is almost as good. I would love my own little Miss P or Mr P, I just want a grandbaby, but no luck yet. These kids now a days are in no hurry, I don't like that cause I want my grandbaby. I keep telling DS no worries cause I am going to adopt a kid or two and sooner or later I will get one(LOL)..... Until then I have lots of Grand Nieces and Nephews to dot on. And Julie is so right, we raise them right and we cry when they leave. Though Empty nesting has been lots of fun in the last 6 years 🙂

@wattleihavenext Julie - Sounds like Miss P is ready for her first phase of collecting training. Get her interested early and keep her going :-).

@sunwoman3663 JANICE - I am with Gail on the Bar Keepers friend, I use that all the time along with 409 my other friend in cleaning things.

Well off to do description YUCK

    Bear 🙂
