• @jmart8248 Remembering IreneM on her birthday. (She passed away on August 2, 2017.) She is missed.

  • Remembering IreneM (@jmart8248) on her birthday.

@wattleihavenext Julie, have a wonderful time!!

Visiting DD in Virginia -- it's sunny and supposed to warm up today but right now it's chilly. Even saw a brief snow flurry yesterday. It's possible they may have snow for the first day of spring.

  • Jim @dorbitz Last I heard my nephew was heading to San Fransisco.
George @george you weather soinds like ours. Its either flood or drought
Stephanie @jmart8248 I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about your Mum. My deepest and sincerest condolensces to you and your family

  • @jmart8248 Stephanie -- I'm so sorry to hear this!! I enjoyed your mom's posts very much and have been concerned this past year or so as she was dealing with health issues. Sending you and the family gentle {{hugs}} and prayers for healing.

  • Good evening .I'm still having internet issues. It will all be sorted in a couple of weeks when I change over to a new server, which has the most up to date connection. My server has not gone with the times and does not offer the new NBN.They have also been taken over by another company and I must say their customer service is just about non existent. I was on the phone the other day and all I was getting from the tech on the other end were sighs like I was an inconvenience and I shouldn't be interrupting his time. In the mean time I just have to put up with very slow and unreliable connection.

Irene @jmart8248 I hope you have a speedy recovery.Take things easy

    Reen @reen

  • @jmart8248 Stephanie -- thank you so much for letting us know! Give Irene my best -- I hope she's home soon!!

Odd day -- warmer and more humid than I expected but not as windy as they said. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow. It's amazing how green everything is.

  • @jmart8248 Glad to hear she is doing well. Please give her best wishes and thanks for letting us know.

  • Good afternoon. Another perfect sunny hot (not too hot) day with a nice breeze.
IreneM @jmart8248 I am sorry I can't help you. I have never printed shipping labels from eBay, so have no idea of its set up. Is there anyway you could copy and paste into Words and from there adjust the font size

  • hot hot hot hot!!!! and getting hotter
Irene @jmart8248 I'm not sure if teasets are popular these days.Been a long time since I have tried to sell one. The pics I post are not of any sets I have. I just get the pics from the internet, after doing a google search.

  • IreneM @jmart8248 Are you 100% sure the black spots were not there before.? If it's not washing off I am wondering if it could be maybe ash within the glass , done during manufacturing?????

  • @jmart8248 IreneM -- oh, that's right, I do remember her saying something about going to Texas. Thanks for reminding me -- I was a little concerned that she hasn't been around.

  • @jmart8248 Irene, it's a Jewish prayerbook (Siddur Avodat) -- here's a link to listings for something similar on Abe Books: http://www.abebooks.com/Siddur-Avodat-Israel-English-translation-Sinai/13215318057/bd

  • Carl @Carma48 -- yes we're going to get blasted with Old Man Winter again! And I had promised you gardening in shirtsleeves! Maybe next week! The Cape will probably get a lesser dose if the foolish thing stays on present course, but....... wait and see.

Irene @jmart8248 --- can I have a piece of that cake? drooool! Happy b'day!

Off for a walk. Hope the wind cooperates.

    Janice

  • Good Morning everyone Another hot day ahead for us down here. 30 + Celsius with humidity More yard work for me today.

IreneM @jmart8248 this site might be helpful
    http://www.antiquesaltshakers.com/

  • Irene @jmart8248 Did you sell it through a Specific Group Page or do you have your own selling Site? If its through a Group, go to their page and under their Header Picture on the right hand side you will see a box that says "search this Group" search for your name and all posts by you will show up. You should be able to see the vase you had listed. BTW even as a seller you can still look for a message in your Inbox by looking at "message Request" The buyer may have sent you a message.
If all else fails just make a post in the Group asking who it was that bought your vase. Admin will be able to help you out.
    Julie

  • Good Morning sun is still shining down here and so far temps are mild for summer. ACtually it was a little on the chilly side this morning when I headed off to training.
Irene @jmart8248 Click on your Message Icon and you should see "message Request" Have look in there to see if the seller has sent you a message. That's were most messages go from anyone that is not on your friends list. You can also check your "Activity Log" That is located right over n the top right hand corner of your screen . Its a little arrow, next to the padlock icon.click on it and you will get a drop down menu. I hope that helps
    Julie

  • Irene @jmart8248 It has been a while since George @george has posted here. But he has been active on Facebook.
    Julie

  • Jim @dorbitz yep did that today. Went out the back to get lawn mower and whipper snipper to do the yard and they were not there. First I thought I must have put them somewhere else. BUT there are only so many places you can store a lawn mower and whipper snipper. Looks like some low life has helped themselves to what is not theirs.

Irene @jmart8248 Condolences for the loss of your sister
Shelly @shellyrae37 No, I don't know who the cameo is

    Julie

  • Condolences and {{hugs}} to Shelly @shellyrae37 and Irene @jmart8248 -- wishing you both comfort and good memories. No matter how much a death is anticipated and how much better off the person might be, it's still sad and we still miss them.

  • Good afternoon everyone. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I have been having a fun time with the celebrations. Firstly my party on Saturday night. On Monday morning after my swim there was a party at the cafe we all go to for our coffee afterwards at 6a.m One of the ladies baked me a lovely birthday cake, supplied some finger food, party hats and balloons. What a great way to start the day of your birthday. Had DD and grandkids around for morning tea and lunch and spent some time with them. Monday night after bootcamp another small celebration with the women I train with and another birthday cake LOL That's 3 birthday cakes all up LOL Home from bootcamp and had dinner with next door neighbours.

Reen @reen I am so sorry no one turned up for your open house. You must have been very disappointed ((((hugs))))
Gail @songbreeze I hope you are doing well.
Jim @dorbitz LOL we are a day ahead, so it was yesterday here , today there LOL or probably by now its yesterday there LOL
LOL Marson @panishklo I was a "little delicate" on Sunday after my party. It was after 3a.m before I went to bed, after the last guest left LOL
Irene @jmart8248 I had a variety of snack food for my guests. Different cheese platters, pates, different types of olives, crackers, potato chips, pretzels, several different dips etc.

  • Shelly @shellyrae37 In July I will be hitting the road for a few weeks and that's when I will find a few swapmeets as I travel around. This weekend was just a weekend away with a group of friends to kick back, party and have fun catching up with each other. A few beers, a band to dance to. A good restaurant with lovely meals and good company with lots of laughs.
Irene@jmart8248 I whole heartedly agree with Gail @songbreeze Just refund the money and be done with it. If you don't, it's only going to be a long drawn out battle and really in the scheme of things, is it worth the headache? I am sure you would much prefer to move on asap
Fenton @ohiostar I wished I could have seen your lovely items. But sadly tinypics does not like me and 9 times out of 10 the pics will not load for me. It seems they only want me to see all the adverts surrounding the pic.

  • waving back atcha @jmart8248 🙂 and everyone else too.

I'm going to be very busy these next few days. Builders are coming Thursday morning to replace my timber ceiling. That means I need to get everything out of my kitchen by then. Today I've spent all day getting things out of the van and getting dried after the weekend's wet swap meet.I don't want mildew setting in on things. And then I need to get it all repacked for this coming weekends market. Babysit all day tomorrow, so nothing will get done then.
No rest for the wicked LOL
    Julie

  • Good morning from chilly NJ where it was drizzling (or maybe the fog was falling). It's supposed to get to the high 60s later and be in the upper 60s for the next few days (with some sunshine). My plants are so confused -- everything is coming up at the same time so I may have tulips, daffodils, and the forsythia blooming at the same time.

@jmart8248 Irene, so sorry to hear about DH's falls, I hope he feels better real soon.

@fyrqueen Katie, hope that DH's problems are cleared up soon.

    And hugs to everyone else!!

  • Good Morning everyone Cooler temps today and by the look of the sky we will get some rain.
Yesterday was so hot but later in the afternoon a cool change came through. I was at a friends house. We were sitting under their huge Camphor Laurel tree enjoying a nice cold beer. The wind was very hot at first but then it became still, skies became very hazey and then the westerly wind turned into a nice cool southerly....heavenly 🙂
Been shopping with my sister today at the local Harvest Markets. Nice fresh organic and mostly locally grown(or at least Australian grown) fruit , veg and meat. And I just discovered a local milk that is to die for. I first tried it at a new local coffee shop You can really taste the difference. Saw a stall today that was selling it. had to get me a bottle (yep a bottle, a real glass bottle. Not cardboard or plastic 🙂 )
Gail @songbreeze I am so glad you enjoyed your day. Its the little things that make it so. SO many ppl get behind the oncology units and do a lot to make your time there as enjoyable as possible. It was the same here And as strange as it sounds DH and I enjoyed going because everyone around you were all positive and so happy go lucky. A great atmosphere to be in
Sharon @sfinds nothing beats fresh caught fish.As a child that's the only fish I ever ate. Straight from the lake or ocean cooked and onto the plate. At one stage in my life I would not eat or buy any fish. It just didn't have the same taste and I couldn't enjoy it. Taste buds have now adjusted LOL
Irene @jmart8248 Glad you enjoyed your birthday
Wendy @wjweese and Reen @reen good to see you are on the mend. Take things easy though
Julie...off to check out Facebook now 😀

  • @jmart8248 Happy Birthday, Irene!! Have a wonderful day.

  • Good afternoon everyone. Blue sunny skies and hot down here
Been up to visit Mum Her mind is starting to wander a bit, and she realises this is what is starting to happen. She was very upset.... so very sad to see. 🙁 🙁 🙁
George @gabla Yes I haul the tables
    Carl @carma Congrats to Marley
Irene @jmart8248 yep after the 4 hr drive to get there and then all the unpacking, it is very tiring. I slept well Thursday night LOL
Gail @songbreeze glad to hear you are still doing well. The tiredness is all part and parcel of chemo , so don't fight it and just sleep when you need to. more ((((((hugs)))))) to you
    Julie

  • Good afternoon everyone Over cast and a few sprinkles of rain through out the day.
I've been selling on Facebook again. Haven't added anything to my selling page. Instead I have been listing items for sale in specific groups. Plus I have 2 auctions going in 2 different groups, one just finished and I am pleased with the result.
Irene @jmart8248 I cook anything and everything during summer. I have a very wide variety of different meals I do. Chicken, steak, lamb, pork, fish and vegetables etc I also make a lot of various salads too. For lunch today I had grilled chicken breast and coleslaw with a yummy healthy dressing I made instead of the usual mayo or coleslaw dressing from a bottle.
    WELCOME Tammy @tammyfaye

  • Irene @jmart8248 thanks for updating us on Shelly. I was wondering how her trip was going.
    Carl @carma stay warm.
    Julie

  • Good afternoon everyone. Tuesday is no my day for babysittng the DGK so I have been busy having fun with them all day.
It has been raining non stop all day. We have had drizzle, we've had heavy down pours and also thunder and lightening. Seems this weather has brought the Kangaroos up to DD's yard.Saw a mother and her baby this arvo.
Don @donscns I love your DDG pitcher
    Irene @jmart8248 It's very easy staying cool today. It's only 18°Celsius (64° F)
Wendy @wjweese No I wasn't really disappointed that much.I still sold enough to make it worth while.Just not as much as I usually do. I had a lovely time, caught up with friends and acquaintances that collect or sell. After we set up our stalls we sit around and have a nice chat while enjoying a beer or a nice glass or two of champagne. I cooked a delicious meal, which was fresh Australian Tasmanian Salmon served on cucumber spaghetti and topped with home made sauce and fresh baked beetroot. My friends that joined me for this meal have not long been back from a River Cruise in Europe. They said my meal was equivalent to what they were served on their 5 star cruise 🙂 I was pretty pleased with that 😀 I must admit it was very very delicious, even if i say so myself 🙂
    Carl @carma brrrrrrr
Gail @gailmacphee , Nancy @jerseystar27 and anyone else experiencing extreme weather conditions. Stay warm and stay safe
Gail @songbreeze I am so pleased that everything is looking positive. Continued positive thoughts and more ((((((hugs)))))) sent your way
    Julie

  • Been a busy and fun morning and afternoon shopping and treasure hunting with my sister.
Katie @fyrqueen that beach closure due to the sharks is where I go . Its a record amount of days that our beaches have been closed I think we are up to day 6. I haven't heard any news today, been too busy shopping with sister
Don @donscns I have been having the same problems with my internet. I am blaming it on the heat. But that can't be the case for you
Gail @songbreeze glad you are doing well.
    Irene @jmart8248 do take care

  • Irene @jmart8248 sounds like a great party room

  • Irene @jmart8248 glad you enjoyed my pic. There are steps from the bottom right to the top. I was about half way up when I took that pic .
    Julie

  • Irene @jmart8248 Glad they found out what was the problem. I hope now you will continue to improve

  • Good evening from San Francisco -- our last night here. Today was nice and sunny (and warmer than it is in NJ). As we know, everything is relative. So even though it's been in the high 50s here, the native SFs have been complaining about it being cold.

@wattleihavenext Julie, lots of people from Australia here in SF.

@jmart8248 IreneM, glad they found what was wrong; diverticulitis can be really yucky, hope it's cleared up soon.

@songbreeze Gail, I hope today went okay for you.

  • Good Morning everyone. Its hot already here and its only 7.30a.m
Irene @jmart8248 That is terrible . What a horrible thing for that man to have to go through.
Carl @carma I heard on the radio a few weeks back that our petrol prices would be dropping to an all time low since (I can't remember what year) But our Government has added another tax of some kind so now we will not get to enjoy any reduction in petrol prices. 😡

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICIA @4931nextdoor

  • @jmart8248 IreneM -- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and your DH, it sounds like you've been having a lovely celebration.

  • Hi Irene @jmart8248 alls good down here. I am having a day at home catching up on some housework. Tomorrow is my Grandson's 2nd b/day.I'll spend the morning with him at his party and then I'll be heading off on a 3 hr drive for a weekend away at a lovely little country pub with a group of friends. Can't do any swapmeets atm till my wrist and hand are strong enough to be able to lift and carry the loads of stock. So I may as well PART-EEEE 😆 😆
    Julie

  • whoops 😳 😳 I congratulated the wrong person on their sales 😳 😳 Sorry about that Irene @jmart8248 it was you not Gail @songbreeze

  • Good Morning everyone. It is a picture perfect sunny Spring morning here. Just enough chill in the air to make you wear long sleeves and cover your feet. Have I told you before that I LOVE SPRING!! 😆 😆

My sales on Facebook have been steady.Nothing to write home about but steady so I am pleased with that and at this stage it suits me perfectly. I am still not fully recovered from the broken wrist and still limited to what I can do with my right hand BUT it is improving and is getting a little stronger each day. At Physio on WednesdayI had to do a strength test on my grip . Not very good, I scored 2 on my right hand compared to 8 on my left. It was my first test and the first time I was allowed to grip and squeeze. First squeeze I hardly moved the guage LOL By 3 rd squeeze I got to 2 . I am very positive that next test will be much better and it will keep getting better till I am back to normal. (whatever normal is for me LOL)

Irene @jmart8248 Glad the surgery went well for you. I hope you have full vision very soon
    Julie

  • Good Afternoon everyone It has been such a glorious day down here. I have been working on Facebook taking some pics and listing some items.Added some items to my selling page Here's Cheers Old wares and Collectables, listed an item in a Depression Glass Group and another I listed on an Auction Group. I have sold 2 new items so far this weekend. Both items being Green , glowie Depression glass 🙂

IreneM @jmart8248 I have never accepted any offers made to me when I have an item listed on eBay auction format. And some do bring out the violins with some hard luck stories BUT I always politely tell the buyer thanks for the offer but I think it not fair to others that may be watching with intentions of bidding.Plus I do like the fun of the auction. I tell them to bid and I wish them luck. In all cases my item has gone above that offer.
    Julie

  • Good Morning everyone.
I have found a couple goodies at the thrift store lately. One of them was a small, 3 1/2", Daisy and Button with Crossbar, canary stem. It holds less than 2oz. I think it's the cordial. Does anyone know for sure?

@jerseystar27 Very nice booth. I hope your not too sore. I hate to ask...but have to know. Was any glass hurt? LOL

@JimD, I'm clueless. What is a thunder shirt?

@wattleihavenext , and @jmart8248 Yep blond moments..we all have them. LMBO at Julie's story about the ATM because that happened to Jerry and I just the other Day. My youngest totaled her car so she asked us to go to the bank for her. The branch Jerry and I use has only been open about a year so everything is newer (all touchscreen). We pull up in the drive through and around about the third step, it says enter pin number. Jerry says "Where the heck is the touch pad" Well I don't see it either so we figure he did something wrong, so we start over. Same thing again. "Well maybe it is on the next page. Hit next." Nope. Start over again. Then start over again. About that time, I told him "I feel like we are on one of those hidden camera shows." By this time I was only half joking. I look around and I see it! A manual keypad to the right of the touchscreen, but it has a tinted plexiglass hood on it that obscures the numbers from anyone lurking nearby. Oh my goodness. We laughed so hard!

@wjweese Wow, great job on the tree skirts! They a amazing. Especially Big Momma!

@george I thought of you the other day. I was at the thrift store and someone had donated a collection of different colored Geogian tumblers. I almost picked up the 3 best ones(they were only .95 each) but put them back. They were apple green, ruby, and a light blue with the seam going around the hexagon.

@fyrqueen, You are a gutsy lady! There is no way I am getting out of my bed in the middle of the night, to see what that sound is! I can handle a little mouse but... until you open the door, you don't know what it is. If it was anything bigger I would have had to change my jammies! lol

  • Irene @jmart8248 Under our Profile here we can add a link to our selling sites on eBay

  • Still a glorious Spring day down here. I have to take things a little easy today, no heavy lifting etc for the day after having blood tests done. Nothing serious just routine checkups to make sure my blood sugar and cholesterol are still good.

IreneM @jmart8248 😆 😆 😆 Its good that we can laugh at ourselves when we have those "blonde" moments 😆 😆 😆 Reminds me of my sister when ATM's first hit the scene. She stood there saying "OK" to the machine over and over again to continue and nothing was happening, till a person behind her told her she had to press the OK button 😆 😆 😆

Fran2 @fran2 NO fees is good 🙂 Now to get the exposure out there so ppl know I exist.

Shelly @shellyrae37 the setting up on FB is pretty easy but trying to get known is another battle. I have joined a few like minded groups so as ppl in those groups would get to know me, Now I have to get them to come to my shop and buy. Its a slower way then eBay to get customers and you do have to work on it, trying to get everyone to "like" your page. The more likes, the more exposure And it is also a case of "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" I'll help promote your shop if you help promote my shop among your friends.
    Julie

  • Good Morning everyone. Spring is here..well for now anyway LOL anything can change in the blink of an eye down here, when it's our weather we are talking about LOL

Thanks everyone for your comments on my FB shop. I will be tweaking things here and there as the days go and adding more stock.

Don @donscns Funny you should mention that about mentioning postage from Australia, that was one of the first thoughts I had when I woke this morning. Great minds think alike 😀

JimL @dorbitz No fees selling on FB. Yes a business page is different to a personal page but much the same .Now hard part is to get exposure which I will work on after I have enough stock up for sale.

Shelly @shellyrae37 No it was relative easy to set up once I put my mind to it. All you need do is "create page" which there is a link on your home page for that. Fill in the form with relevant info and you're done. Uploading pics is easy. I have just done the basics for now but will play around later and see what other features are available and what I can do.

IreneM @jmart8248 to send a FB email is simple. Go to persons page and at the top they have what is called a "cover photo" To the bottom right hand side you will see "message" click on that and you can send them an email.

    Julie

  • Irene @jmart8248 still no luck viewing your vase It seems I am the only one that ever has problems with tinypics 🙁 It just doesn't like me 🙁

  • Good afternoon everyone. It is still a glorious day out. Been to DR's for a routine check and got a clean bill of health Blood Pressure perfect etc.Just goes to show a small change in eating habits and regular exercise does work 🙂
@shellyrae37 its not winter I dread. Ours is very mild compared to yours. But I do dread the summer when we get high temps mixed with high humidity That does me in.
Irene @jmart8248 as usual tinypic doesn't like me and will not load your pics. They seem to be more concerned about me seeing all the adds surrounding it . I get offers of playing the slot machines with $30 free, a dating site , a heap of other thumbnail "images You'll also enjoy" and a big blank space where your pic is suppose to be. 🙁 🙁 But if I try again later it will all show. So I will look later on.
    Bob @glassusa WTG!!!!!
Julie..procrastinating on setting up a Facebook shop LOL ..been doing that for months now

  • Irene @jmart8248 and Reen @reen its not only the eyes that need protecting from the dust, it gets up your nose, in your ears, all through your hair, ground into your skin. I would have to wear a full bhurka and goggles to protect myself 😆

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY ... Well, I got one more thing listed. That's all day for 3 items. I'm trying to get a bunch of things listed so I can open my store on 11 MAIN. But really more than anything I just want to get all the excess glass out of my house. Maybe just a giant cheap yard sale. Then I can start over fresh....and buy wiser. Too many tuition pieces crowding me out of the house.

@jmart8248 IRENE M... you really had me laughing that the raccoons were smarter than the "skunk man." Hope you all are successful in trapping some wild critters soon.

@maryr MARYMELODEE ... sorry the auction didn't work out. Good luck on your consignments.

@reen REEN ... years ago I had to have an MRI. Didn't think I would be able to go through with it. But they gave me an eye mask so I could see my nose was one inch from the ceiling area, and a friend held onto my foot so I felt if I screamed I could be pulled out real quickly. And the wind that they kept blowing through, well, I told myself it was the breeze from angel wings as the angels watched over me. Everything worked out well.

@glassusa BOB ... I carry my boxes to the PO but I only live a couple of minutes from it. I usually stand and watch them scan the box. If I'm in a hurry, I'll leave in on the counter...but ask them to scan it as I walk out the door.

HI to JULIE, DON, FRAN 2, NANCY P, GEORGE, WENDY

PS. Did no one notice that I posted the Coffee Date today as February 4th????? Talk about tired and sleep when I posted it.... 😆

  • IreneM @jmart8248 they have the big guns out for Bill. He is fighting a huge battle against kidney cancer which has gone to all the lymph nodes and prognosis is not good. This pain is beyond any imaginable pain one could have
    Julie

  • Good morning, glassies. Headed out for Church shortly and then going out for lunch with my sister, her BF and a visiting priest. They really only invited me so I could help translate.

I got a couple of listings ready for 11 Main. Haven’t posted any for preview yet. Want to get at least a dozen ready first.

@glassusa BOB … Jenks/Luna/Reilly say the scalloped top spooner has been reproduced in clear w/frosting by LG Wright in 1969.

If this falls through with the Candlewick, email me as I would be interested in it.

@reen REEN … so sorry you are under the weather, but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and hope you all can celebrate soon.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY … a reunion sounds like a lot of fun. I know it takes a lot of work but hope you all have a great time.

@dorbitz JIM L … good to see you check in. Hope all is well for you.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ….. yikes! sure wouldn’t want to be having to trap so many critters. What do you all do with them once you’ve trapped them?

Oh, went and picked up my things at the Fair last night and I sure was surprised to be given a check for $23…. $4 for each blue ribbon and $3 for the red ribbon. Fun! 😀

  • Good morning, glassies. Suppose to have a heat index of 105 today.

@donscns DON … I was very happy that most of the books sold quickly. I put 2 books on the Depression Site…$20 each with free shipping. Some joker posted…”You can get them on eBay for $10.” I was flabbergasted that someone would be so crass. I was almost struck speechless…almost. I generally don’t get into confrontations online but this just really got me. I posted ”That was an incredibly ill-mannered posting on your part.” Well, I guess the Admin didn’t like either post because within minutes both our posts were taken down. My original post of the books was still there, but I had such a bitter taste in my mouth that I just deleted it.

@reen REEN … it is so good to see you back. We’ve missed you. Hope you had a wonderful vacation.

@jmart8248 IRENE M … thanks for the nice words about my crochet. I’m a very slow crocheter. I bet the jar toppers could be much faster by anyone other than me. I’ve never been good at judging how much time it takes me to do something as I’m up and down working on something and I’m always watching tv at the same time. A shot in the dark would say 8 hours maybe.

Well, I have books to pack up and mail, then off to see everything at the Fair today. Some beautiful things were being brought in the other day and it will be fun to see them all displayed.

  • Good Morning everyone. We got a little bit of rain over night, much needed.
Today is the only day I will have to get the van and myself organised for my trip in two days. Kids are heading off to daycare , DD is at work and SIL will be at the house working. SO I have the day all to myself no interuptions
Carl @carma I am in the same boat as you with reference books and magazines. Maybe not quite as many as you but I do have a lot on all various subjects and collectables. We paid good money for them new, some where not cheap at all . But now I rarely ever look at them and to sell...well... I'd only get a pitence for them, so not worth all the hassle. Not to mention the weight of lifting them in and out of the van.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Yep it is a big sized house ,5 bedrooms. Well now its 4 bedrooms because they turned 2 rooms into one. Has inground pool and is on 2 acres over looking the countryside Here is a pic of their backyard. No one has lived in the house for 8 months, so the pool is a little neglected but that won't take much to correct.

George @george Yep it is a fair bit of travelling. I usually clock up close to 4,000klms each July
IreneM @jmart8248 and Wendy @wjweese Thanks for the well wishes
Gail @songbreeze Thanks for sharing your finds. They are gorgeous And I must say , your photography skills are superb

  • Good afternoon everyone. cold and damp down here. Not a good day for DD to be having her garage sale but they had advertised in the local paper, so it was all steam ahead. I babysat the grandkids, to make things a little easier.
Gail @songbreeze I too am hoping I get the lovely prices I want for my citron glass. One is the large Gum Tip vase which is very hard to find.
Bob @glassusa IreneM @jmart8248 Nice finds.

  • Thank you for the birthday wishes @songbreeze @sfinds @donscns @fran2 @reen @jmart8248 @shellyrae37 @wattleihavenext. Hopefully I didn't miss anyone. Thanks for the cake Gail! We went on a tour of some beautiful gardens in town, and just finished eating cake and ice cream.

  • Shelly @shellyrae37 some days the swaps are great and I do make plenty of dollars and other times not so good. I think it all balances out in the long run. Besides we can't have it smooth sailing all the time , can we? LOL.
My winter temps, here in my town, usually only go as low as about 2celsius. But it normally hovers around 5 Celsius. This morning it was 7°C. Lowest ever on record was minus 1.8° C back in 2004
BTW Facebook is great. Don't listen to those that knock it and talk about arguments etc. Its like real life, you only associate with who you want to associate with . You don't have to have everyone seeing your page. You freind only who you want and you set all your privacy settings to friends only. If you discover someone among your friends is a troble maker and causes aguements you delete them. Its so very simple to keep it all hassle free And it is a really great way to keep in touch with friends and family. I love it!
Irene @jmart8248 waving back at you 🙂

  • Irene @jmart8248 I am glad you are almost there with getting an ID on your jug. Thanks for sharing
Carl @carma Happy Anniversary for Sunday and Congrats to Marley

  • Good Morning everyone, chilly here this morning but the sun is up and it looks like we will be in for another gorgeous sunny warm day. It will lovely driving to the swap , nice and cosy warm in the car LOL.
Irene@jmart8248 My personal opinion is that the little jug is not majolica But I am no expert. When you do find anything out about it will you please let us know. I am curious and I am sure others will be too 🙂

As soon as I have my breakie and get dressed I will be hitting the road. See you all when I get back
    Julie

  • IreneM @jmart8248 Majolica is a type of glaze (lead) over pottery and Capodimonte is a maker. From my experience Capodimonte is usually marked on the base. Sorry I can't help any further
    Julie

  • Good Morning everyone. Rain again and it looks like it has set in for a few days.
Irene @jmart8248 Yes the rain will be good for the plants. I am not one for watering my garden much, so they have to be tough to last in my garden LOL And I just planted some new herbs and a few vegs, so now they do have a chance of survival with this weather LOL
Gail @ songbreeze LOL yes I am hoping it will not turn into a swamp meet LOL We usually have great Autumn weather for this one. Cold at night but nice clear sunny skies throughout the day
Wendy @wjweese My motto is to always enjoy yourself, no matter what. Life throws us some curve balls, sometimes too often, BUT you have to keep on keeping on and you have to live and love life. I try my hardest to do just that. I like to laugh a lot.
JimL @dorbitz I'd jump at that bargain on the Rose bowl..but... it's the cost of shipping to me..well. .... that would take away from it being such a bargain LOL
    Julie

  • Good morning everyone. Beautiful warm sunny Autumn day today
Shelly@shellyrae37 I do not do anything special for easter. I am not into all the comercialisation of it and I don't bother with easter eggs I haven't bought an Easter egg since DD was a teenager LOL Whoops I tell a lie I bought a small one for Miss P"s first Easter, that I put in one of DH's collectable early Aussie Pottery Rabbit. Just a bit of a keepsake for her to have from her Poppy she never got to meet.
Gail @songbreeze Just looked at the weather report for the weekend, where I am going and rain is predicted >:( I have had enough of rainy swaps LOL
Irene @jmart8248 waving back to you 🙂
Julie..off to do things that need doing... after I visit FB that is LOL

  • Good afternoon everyone. Just having a very quick scroll I've Been busy lately and haven't had much time to stop by Also a new Group was started up on Facebook for anyone that lived in my home town. OMG it has been so addictive trying to keep up with all the memories and catching up with ppl that I haven't seen nor heard of in many many years
Don @donscns Yes 25th was Anzac day. I always march in honour of my Dad but this year it was thunder ,. lightening and very heavy rain, so the march was cancelled
IreneM @jmart8248 Yes our weather sure does change drastically from one day to the next. Today it is Wet

  • @jmart8248 Irene I assume you are referring to the EAPGS group. It is a closed group you need to ask to join to view postings. Trying to keep spammers from burying the glass. FB does not give you a photo album so you need to go to the individual postings to see pictures.

  • Gee, another day nearly over and hardly know where it all went. My East Coast son was in a car accident last night. He is ok but his car is a mess. He's a regional manager of several restaurants in the DC area so he doesn't get off until the wee hours of the morning. He was traveling home at 2:30 am this morning and a drunk driver slammed into the back of his car, spinning my sons car which then ran into those concrete thingies. The police arrested the driver. Alex is sore but OK and has gotten a rental car to drive until they determine whether his car is totaled or not.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... what sweet glasses. I have not idea who made them, particularly if they were made in Italy. They do look like a very sweet contemporary pattern.

@reen REEN ... Well, I hope Shelly's trip back home went ok. She may still just be working from her iPad. Looks like everyone has had other things keeping them busy today.

  • Just got home from Church tonight. My creamer was ID'd on FB as FEATHERED DAHLIA probably by Dithridger, ca. 1900-1905

All of you still shoveling snow... I really feel for you. I'm anxious to see the Sunday night special Ann Curry is doing on Climate Change. Should be ... or hope it will be... interesting.

@reen REEN ... thanks, he's a real sweetie, but then I think all my children are!

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... sounds like you are getting the weather we had late yesterday.

Going to go fix some black eyed peas and stir up a box of Jiffy corn muffins for supper.

  • Good afternoon. Popping in the see if there has been any news from Shelly
I've been to hairdressers, then lunch out and then did some grocery shopping. A fun little morning with it all being "me time" I could do with a little nap right about now But will resist. I am in the beginnings of sinus /head cold and feeling a little worn out. But nothing serious at all.I'll be fine in a day or so. It all stems from me being in Airconditioning on Saturday.
Katie @fyrqueen you can set up your own shop or group on FB and sell that way. I have a few friends from my Aussie Collectors group that are doing it that way and they say that now they are set up and known, they are doing better then eBay.
IreneM @jmart8248 I doubt very much that a blackout where you live would affect bidding on your auctions.Unless of course someone in your neighbourhood, without power, was wanting to bid. But these days most use mobile devices such as tablets, Ipads, smartphones etc and don't need any power

  • @jmart8248 IRENE M ... you do not need to worry about your auctions. Your loss of phone and computer does not effect the running of the eBay auction., Congratulations on the sales. SHELLY was scheduled to have her surgery today. Hope all is going well.

  • @wattleihavenext JULIE ... oh, I just love days like that and it's always such fun to get home and unwrap everything and look at it all again.

@donscns DON ... patterns like that, that have changed to so many different hands, just drive me crazy. I just steer clear of them because I'm way too lazy to try to dig deeper to see if I can distinguish who made what and when. Makes me dizzy.

@george George ... yes, our Postal Service will pick up too, but I always feel more confident when I take it to the PO. I only live a few blocks, could walk it if I weren't so lazy. But this morning, I just wasn't up to having to comb my hair and change out of my tacky sweat pants, so I was glad to just hand it to the postman as he pulled up to my mailbox. 🙂

@nicknack2 NORA ... glad to see you check in on your birthday. Hope you will find time to check in again.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... looks like you and your DD had as much fun and as much luck shopping as JULIE and her sister. 🙂

Missed saying HI yesterday to FRAN 2, MARSON, WENDY, NANCY P, and SHELLY!

  • @jmart8248 IreneM -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Wishing you a wonderful day. I know what you mean about waiting until everyone is healthy -- we were supposed to go out to dinner this past Saturday to celebrate my parents' anniversary and my sister's new job. Poor sister had a stomach upset so we're trying again tomorrow night (my parents' actual anniversary).

  • Good grief! I'm home from Church and can hardly believe that at the beginning of the week it was 81 and right now it is rain, sleet, and snow. Spending the rest of the day indoors. Suppose to be pretty again tomorrow.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... sure wish I could help you with your pretty vase but totally out of my range of knowledge. I don't even have any books that would help.

  • Good morning, glassies. Mercy, I was so tired out from yesterday's trip to Tulsa and other errands run for my friend. Just came home and collapsed in the recliner. Need to get some stuff done here at home today, but I'm slow to get started.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... I do have way too much stock in the house, and no, I don't have to knock myself out buying more...but the problem is I LOVE buying more. Searching and buying is the most fun part! That's why I have so much stock. Tagging and listing are the boring parts.... 🙁

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... I no longer use boxes to carry my stuff to the malls. Just to big, bulky, or heavy for me to manage. I was really thrilled to get some collapsible bags that have a rigid base and reinforced sides...actually made for groceries etc. They will hold 35 lbs. but they are a really manageable size with strap/handles. I love them and they've really made it much easier to tote around.

@norske65 WES ... Good to see you checking back in. Hope all has been going well for you. Collected any new treasures lately?

@donscns DON ... Really enjoyed the Nursery School website information. The pictures were just tooooo ADORABLE! 😀

Sending out my most sincere sympathy to all of you in the frozen wake of these storms that have been and are yet to come. I'm ever so grateful for where I live and that I am not having to endure the extreme weather. Praying that all will stay safe and warm until this all passes.

    Waving HI to ALL glassies!

  • @jmart8248 IRENE M ... so sorry PayPal is playing with your funds. That would just have me gritting my teeth.

@reen REEN ... Good to see you posting. You've been away for far too long.

I keep yawning so I guess I best get an early start with going to bed tonight. Catch you all later....

  • @donscns DON .... of course!

@fyrqueen KATIE .... DON is making jest of my morning reading material. Actually there are no Alien Babies in Star. Star is all Hollywood...stars with facelift goofs, stars with bad beach bodies, the latest on Kanye and Kim, Portia and Ellen, yada yada yada. ... absolute mindless dribble that I subscribe to. 😀

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... sad about the Jewelry Chat. I think Facebook is the reason for the drift. I know in several of the FB sites I follow many many of our former Chat members that we no longer see or very seldom see are regular FB contributors. As I always told my kids, "There's only one thing in Life that can count on.....change."

@jmart8248 IRENE M .... I'm thinking a lot of this back ache is just the cold. We are warming up this weekend to the 50s and 60s and I bet it will find me bouncing all over the place. I'm already making plans to spend the day treasure hunting. Yea!

@suzy SUZY ... I love little Dazey's pictures so, but man, I bet she grows fast. Even if I get down to Jenks in Spring or early Summer she will have way passed puppy stage. You and Jim just have to come up this direction and then we can travel on to Joplin. 3 big antique malls there now. WHole day affair. Needless to say, I have a CPU with Jim's name on it if he's willing to wipe it clean for me. Gee, it's even loaded with XP on it so he could tag it as "Vintage" in April and sell it. 🙂

Went out and bought groceries...wondering if we will get any snow that's predicted tonight. Think you have a better chance of it.

  • @fyrqueen KATIE ... I'm not familiar with "frostquakes"...how does it manifest itself?

@sfinds SHARON ... oh my, I've been having terrible pain in my side and back "stitches" that have about hobbled me lately. Does the Chiropractor really help so that the pain completely goes away?

Waving back to @jmart8248 IRENE M.... hope you all thaw out soon up there. What a ghastly winter it's been for all you Northerners and North Easterners.

    @dorbitz JIM L ... Yea for CHELSEA!

  • Oh, golly, it's been one thing after another today..... not much chance to get much at home done.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY .... nothing smarter about me. This is day 3 of trying to figure out this new system. Still can't find where my contact email addresses are! Don't have a photo editing software to work with. Still haven't figured how to find a "back" button. Don't know why sometimes I lose all my tabs when I'm just trying to close one tab. I did finally find my favorites today which I thought I'd lost.

@fran2 FRAN ... gee, I don't know what converter I used. It's just that when I tried to open the document it said I would need to download a converter and there was a link that took me to several and I just used the first one on the list. It only worked on my word processing documents. It didn't work on my Excel and I still can't open them. I'll go search the net and see if I can find what I used. ..............Time Out .......... I just checked my downloads and this is what I used. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=12 looking further down I guess I should now do "01" so that my Excel will open. Maybe tomorrow as I'm so tired and sleepy now.

@wjweese WENDY ... yikes...jails and courts...what a bunch of gobbledegook. Turns out she just went before the judge who rattled off some formula that he said to each of the people there...Come back on such and such date, bring a lawyer to enter your plea, if you can't afford an attorney, etc. So we went across the hall and got a several page paper she will have to fill out to request a lawyer then pay $40 to submit the request and wait to find out if she will be approved for a court appointed lawyer. There's more but it's just too much to write or think about right now. 🙁

@itsagas BILL ... I actually like quinoa when it is all spiced/herbed up...and I love yogurt if it's flavored. Think I'll go grab a cherry one right now. 🙂

@jmart8248 IRENE ... Saw those snow rollers on tv news tonight for the first time. What a hoot. Kind of a Northerner's tumbleweed.

  • Good morning, glassies. I've been up since 3:00. Just not a night to sleep. Having hot chocolate and will probably catch a nap later.

@jmart8248 IRENE ... The Central candlestick is similar but all the parts are round and the cup and wafer on yours are hexagonal, so I think Fran 2 nailed it with Diamond being the maker.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... Hope your day is a little more comfortable today and not so hot.

Wondering how all our East Coast friends are doing here. Guess I could turn on the tv and see if there's any news. Not use to watching tv at 4:30 in the morning. Wonder if it's all infomercials.

  • @fran2 FRAN ... @jmart8248 IRENE .... well, I went through all 3 candlestick books last night and could not find Irene's. But Fran, when you show yours with the ID of Diamond, that makes it so much easier. 🙂 I just ran right past it last night and never saw it. It looks like Diamond's #713, ca. 1924....page 133 of Felt/Stoer Glass Candlestick Book, Vol. 3.

  • Good Evening Glassies..

@jmart8248 Irene...I just found these Diamond Glass Co. candle holders in my book that are similar in shape to yours. They also have painted flowers. This is not an ID, hopefully somebody else will know if yours could have been made by this company.

    http://i39.tinypic.com/20kyi2t.jpg

  • @jmart8248 IRENE M ... I had a beautiful plate with a totally different decoration but it had that beautiful 36 point star in the center and it was tentatively ID as Westmoreland. I'm just double checking the forum I put it on to see if was determined if that was a definite ID.

  • @jmart8248 : If you ship your sale Priority mail, up to $50 insurance SHOULD automatically included in the shipping cost. Otherwise, I would take the package to the post office and purchase insurance, as previously suggested.

    Janice

  • Good day, glassies. Got a CD I ordered on various glass catalogs today and have had my nose in the computer all morning. Love it!

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... gee, sorry that I don't know much about Etsy, but I suppose all I could think to do would be to take it to the Post Office and pay the extra for insurance.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... sorry that the pump froze and so glad to hear that they were able to get it thawed out. For us here in NE Oklahoma the weather is a bit better today though still frigid and starting tomorrow we should be getting relief as the "vortex" moves away.

HI to CARL, DON, GEORGE, and BOB!

  • @jmart8248 Thanks Irene but in this case I do not think it is necessary. The twin cities have a good directory I was merely trying to help them narrow it down and see if there was anything out of town. A trip to Stillwater will be a day excursion for them. That is an interesting town worth a stop if you are in the MN - WI northern border area.

    george

  • @jmart8248 Irene unfortunately you are. george

  • Wendy @wjweese laughing is good for the soul 🙂 And I like to do it often.
Katie@fyrqueen Maybe you could all get a discount on the air fares. Bulk buying and all that LOL
Irene @jmart8248 Just head south and keep on going LOL

  • Good Monring everyone At 8a.m (DLST) is currently 25°C Gearing up for a hot one.
Wendy @wjweese and everyone else COME ON DOWN!!! I am sure we could manage somehow I have 2 spare double beds, and 1 lounge and plenty of floor space LOL And a sister that lives just around the corner
Shelly @shellyrae37 and Irene @jmart8248 Congratulations on your sales I have a little pile here that I have earmarked to list on eBay BUt I am having a very hard time getting motivated
    Julie

  • @jmart8248 IRENE M ... Well, I find it very interesting that they are showing that. Today was the first time I've seen that. I'll have to look closer now cause I find that fun.

Getting ready to go fix some black-eyed peas, sauerkraut, and fry up some pork. Covering all my bets for the New Year. 🙂

  • Home from Church and a nice dinner at the local cafe.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... could be medicine, but for the most part I just kind of hibernate during the winter. Just not enough sunlight for me. I usually perk up by Spring time and daylight savings time. Hope that will continue to be the case this year.

Just finished washing up the little metal crib. Here's a picture of it. Getting ready to get a couple of more things packed to take downtown to our local mall.

HI to JULIE, DON, GEORGE, CARL, FENTON, and WENDY.

  • Good evening, glassies. Got three things listed today. For me that is a lot! I'm just as slow as Moses. By the time I take the pictures, get them edited, figure out the title, the description, check the books for accurate ID's... well it just takes me forever.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... how frightening that must have been for you all. So glad you DH is doing well now.

@suzy SUZY ... the toy box is just absolutely adorable. I'm sure you had a fun time getting it all put together.

@wjweese WENDY ... I truly don't know how you do it. I could never ever crochet that fast. All the projects are just lovely and you will have a grand Christmas with all the family and friends. Particularly they will cherish the items you made for them sewn with so much love.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... When we were in Canberra we celebrated Christmas outdoors at the park with a big BBQ. 🙂 What are your plans?

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... you keep yourself quite busy too. Yikes! Presents to wrap, cards to write, Christmas dinner to cook! You and Wendy have me tired out. 🙂

    Waving HI to FRAN 2!

  • @shellyrae37 SHELLY .. I managed a 3-hour afternoon nap! Right now, I'm making a pumpkin pie for supper. Yesterday, I believe we were 67° and today we are under an ice storm warning until 6 tomorrow morning. I did all my WalMart shopping early this morning and it was really interesting to see the temps dropping every 20 minutes.

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... thanks for the compliments, I love the little nativity scene. Still have the animals to do.

@itsagas BILL ... makes my teeth grit when I see the price of something I'd have probably walked right past...or if I bought it I'd try for a fixed price of $15 or $20 and consider myself lucky if I got it.

HI to CARL, DON, JIM L, JIM D, BOB in KY, GEORGE, FENTON, and REEN!

  • Sharon @sfinds Glad I could help 🙂
IreneM @jmart8248 It is in your computer programmes Click on your Start/Shutdown Icon and look through the programs there and you should find it

  • Good morning, glassies. Busy, busy, busy the last couple of days. Lots of errands to run both around town and at home. Today is trash day, laundry to do, check book to reconcile...just to name a few. Yesterday was continued work on the frozen pipes, haircut at the salon, off to the grocery, the bank, a bait & switch furniture ad that had me fussing at the store manager.... 😀 ,,,,so much to do so little time. 😆

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... so glad you are healing nicely from your cataract surgery.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... so glad you won't be heading off to travel with all this bad weather. I'm betting your sister will much prefer having you with her later when all the confusion and people and necessary arrangements have all subsided and she just needs time to be quietly hugged and comforted.

@glassusa BOB ... super fun to find an item like that and have it appreciated by a good sale!

@donscns DON ... Do you get a decent holiday break at Christmas. My granddaughters have 3 weeks off!

HI to MARSON, JULIE, CARL, GAIL MAC, and GEORGE.

  • Good afternoon everyone. I've had a lovely day. spending a good part of it at the beach with DD and Grandkids.
I did my laps at the pool, my usual early time, this morning. Had my walk along the shore line and because it was so hot I had another swim to cool down before meeting up with DD and DGK. Miss P did Sporty Kids and then we walked across the road to the beach and had a lovely time swimming and playing in the sand. Then some lunch at the kiosk on the beach and home by 3p.m. Left here at 4a.m LOL
Reen @reen I wonder if Gail appreciates being my twin LOL
Shelly @shellyrae37 Thanks for the compliment re my hair do. It looks very dark in the pic and to be honest it is darker then my normal blonde hair after it was cut but a few days surf, sand and sun and it is blonding up again 🙂
Katie @fyrqueen I am sure you made the right decision. You have to go with your instincts.
IreneM @jmart8248 I am so pleased your eye surgery went well.
NancyP @jerseystar27 Have a safe trip home
