• Boxing Day down here and I had planned to do as little as possible, which also included a sleep in. BUT my sister phoned early. She wanted to go out for breakfast and then do some shopping. We drove all around to some of our favourite restaurants , only to find they were not opened (which I had expected) So we ended up at McDonalds McCafe LOL Drove around afterwards to the shopping centres to find that they were not opened either LOL. Told sister it was the best fun I had ever had shopping with her LOL

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY
    MARY @maryb
    and
    CHAR @charper99

  • Good evening, glassies. A non-stop day. Trying to catch up with everything that was put on hold over the last 4 months. I got a good deal accomplished....and still have tons to do. Feel really good about the day.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... what is the difference between a Market and a Swap Meet? I didn't realize they weren't the same thing. Glad you such a nice time with nice sales this past weekend.

@charper99 CHAR ... I forget where you are from, which State you live in. Sounds like you are right around the corner with your weather seemingly the same as mine is here.

@wjweese WENDY ... I was wondering what State you are in too. We had a fellow years ago, Terry/i_deal_it, who had set us up where we could pin our location on a map of the United States, but unfortunately that website finally bit the dust.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... I've got bake-dirt tableware that I have to get listed what with Thanksgiving not too far away. Also have to see if I have any red glass for Christmas but I doubt it. Hopefully the baked dirt will sell.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... my sister always talked of the "perceived perception of value". Put a low enough price on something and people think it doesn't have much value. As IRENE M said, and as you experienced, raise the price and people's perception will perceive it as being more valuable and buy. 😀

Allergies are doing a dance all over my eyeballs. Took a antihistamine. Will probably hit the bed early tonight.

  • Good Morning everyone. Gorgeous morning here. Hot and sunny but not too hot yet
George @george yes it sure does renew the energy when sales are good. And funny enough the heat, the wind and the raoin doesn't seem to bother you LOL
Shelly @shellyrae37 I travel around a bit and swap meets are only on once a year at each town. So it does vary from year to year but the answer to your question is Yes high end glass does sell at swaps, but not all swaps. Each place varies. I carry a wide variety of stock. Small furniture I can manage on my own, bric a brac (china, glass) cast iron, enamelware and just collectables in general.
BTW this was a Market I did over the weekend. Not a swapmeet. It is on every Monday of a long weekend and you get a very wide variety of shoppers. Not all collectors. A lot are just in the historic village for the long weekend and enjoy the market atmosphere and buy items on inpulse, just because they like it.
Char @charper99 I hope the weather co operates for you so you can have your GS
Wendy @wjweese enjoy your day with DH I hope your treasure hunting goes well.

Now I'll say hooroo. I have some outside work needed doing while the weather is so good.
    Julie..

  • Home from Church and getting ready to head out of town to the Fleamarket to settle up.

@reen REEN ... Before I take a picture, I click on the icon on the camera that says White Balance. I point the camera at the white background and click. The camera says "processing." After a second the camera is ready to take pictures. Since the white balance has been set, the pictures won't turn out too blue or too yellow depending on what kind of light bulbs you have.

@charper99 CHAR ... good to see you popping in! A couple of days ago we were 90°. We just had a cold front move in so we are in the 60s today. Think it's suppose to reach 69°. I do love autumn!

    HI KATIE and GEORGE!

Heading out to the Fleamarket now.....

  • Good Morning everyone. It's going to be hot today, along with humidity. Have the last minute food shopping for Xmas to do That I am going to do first thing this morning before the shops get too busy.
The Nursing Home Mum is staying in is very nice and the staff that I met all seem very caring lovely ppl.
Don @donscns Hope it arrives safely I am sure you have given Noah good instructions to make sure it does
Laurie @wellingtonct Nice to "see" you
MM @maryr I always send an email to the buyer letting them know I have posted their parcel and in that email I ask them to please let me know when it arrives and if they are happy with their purchase. Email me immediately if there are any problems.I send all my parcels with tracking number so I do know when the items arrived but I want to know if there are any issues.
It does frustrate me when I hear nothing. I give them a week and if I have not heard from them, then I guess that they must be happy with the buy.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAR @charper99

  • Good Morning everyone Another beautiful day is installed for us Down Under. 🙂
IreneM @jmart8248 sorry to hear about your DD's friend passing.
Reen @reen with the way technology is today some ppl use a snipe engine to do the bidding for them. They may not even be at their computer when the bidding ends. I am glad some have started to make their payments to you.
Carl @carma Yep old toys do very well. I have sold off all DH's old toys and am just down to a few Collectable Match box cars. They are all mint still in box. The matchbox carsI have been selling at the swaps. DH also had a collection of ERTLS he purchased a number of years back from USA on eBay. Those I sold at the swapmeets too and they were all mint still in box too. Old Tonkers are pretty popular here too.
    Char @charper99 WTG!!!

  • @mary cxgirl MARY ... on another forum people were complaining of having trouble with the eBay search...getting zero returns in complete and then going to active listings and then going back to completed and a bunch of listings show up. All sorts of crazy things. I've had it do that to me too. Love the pitcher!

    @charper99 CHAR ... Wow! That's a terrific find! Goodonya!

@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... truer words never spoken...so easy to strip the bed and so very hard to get it made back up. 🙂

Hi to BOB, BILL, & NANCY P!

  • @charper99 Char, What a nice find. Think I'll go rattle some boxes.

  • Hi All,

@shellyrae37 - I had no clue either, but like I said I use Stamps.com. I just wasn't going to ship the thing under my name.

@wattleihavenext - No Problem, I got it and will get a card off to her, mail that isn't a bill is worth it's weight in gold. Miss P must be getting really big, and If I remember right isn't there another on the way? Someday I hope I will have a little grand one running around.

@charper99 - I don't have any complaints on the shipping charges. I will never ever mark anything fragile. Had it out with the postmaster one time about that, I won he lost.

@itsagas - Are You talking about my yellow basket over on RL(LOL) I see Leah has helped you out.

@songbreeze - Also see Leah has helped you.

@fryqueen - Sorry can't help on vase, and Allergies really bite this year. Though I have found mucinex has helped with my claritin.

@goodwinantiques - Thanks for the basket education. I will send pictures of my basket (mine is a ugly bright yellow(LOL))when I have an extra few minutes.

@baabaamson - just get a full size keyboard and plug it into the laptop.

    Bear 🙂

  • Hi All,

Hope all is well with everyone, it is hard to believe that summer is almost over. It has gone by way to fast if you ask me, and I don't even like summer(LOL).

@wattleihavenext - That would be great if you or anyone else had Mary Pat's Address.

@shellyrae37 - Son just printed out a label at my house so I could mail his package and was given a choice of the USPS Insurance or EBay's Insurance.

@charper99 - Gail is right, nothing to be nervous about shipping glass. That link has some great packing tips. And the main things to remember is to make sure that you have the right size box, make sure everything is packed tight and there is no movement and only use the USPS for shipping. The more you do it, the better you get at it.

@songbreeze - At first it reminded me of Imperial Reeded Pattern but didn't find that shape, then I thought Hockings Circle, but only have very little info on that pattern, so didn't see it.

@10bbg10 - I thought the same as Shelly Westmoreland, looked through my book but didn't find an exact match.

    Bear 🙂

  • Good morning, glassies. Finally rested up from out Monday excursion in Jenks. Now trying to get pictures of items, enter them into inventory, etc.

@suzy SUZY ... that is just beautiful! Will be very interested in learning the maker. Waiting for you to send me some pics of candlesticks. 🙂

@charper99 CHAR ... Sounds wonderful to have a good soaking rain. Don't be nervous about packing glass as long as you follow some good guidelines and ship via USPS. http://glassandpotterysellers.org/packaging_tips.html

Waving HI to DON, BILL, SHELLY, GEORGE, LAINEY, and CARL!

  • Good morning, glassies. Waving HI to DON and CHAR.

Not a drop of rain last night. Storms all around us but nothing here. Not complaining though as the temperature dropped significantly and it's absolutely splendid today.

Taking the car to the Jiffy Lube shortly and looking forward to Monday when 2 of my friends and me will head out to Jenks to meet up with SUZY and her friend and all go treasure hunting!

@charper99 CHAR ... sales are indeed slooooooooooooow. I'm trying to turn some glass to cash quickly to help my son and family who lost so much in a fire. I reduced a couple of things so low on a BIN that I couldn't believe they weren't snatched in 24 hours. Oh, well, what happens...happens. Maybe better luck tomorrow. 😀

  • @newtonenterprises JIM D ... Congratulations! What a wonderful trip!

@charper99 CHAR ... thanks so much for the link. That's a fine website and I've bookmarked it.

  • Good Morning everyone. Chilly again this morning and I was very reluctant to get out of my nice warm cosy bed LOL. Heading off this morning for a Market. Set up today and sell tomorrow. It is going to be even colder where I am going .brrrr I will be up very early tomorrow morning and walking /standing around on very frosty ground. Probably wet ground too.
Don @donscns As Carma said Fran has been posting on FB & MIke busy with his bar, I did send Marymelodee an email a couple of months ago, she says she has been busy with other things but she was going to try to pop in one of these days to catch up with us all. Kelli I am sure last time she posted said she had been busy with other things too. I do miss them all too.
Toby @abzoid I am looking forward to seeing your new items.
Gail @songbreeze Glad you managed to buy a few things
Char @charper99 Gorgeous vase but I am no help except to say I think I have seen similar somewhere. Not sure where to start looking. Wished I had the time this morning to sit and browse around the internet searching but sorry I have to get a move on shortly and head off.
Fran @fran2 I think some ppl just love to be nosey LOL and like knowing other ppls business
Helen @10bbg10 Thanks for the site
    Julie

  • Good afternoon, glassies. Busy morning but did get to one yard sale … bought a couple of little nothing pieces, but can probably turn a buck at the mall on them. Did by a very nice recliner. I’ve been wanting one for years and never up to paying what our stores in this area charge. I know the people who had this sale and their house is spotless so I knew it would be a good clean piece of furniture. It only cost $60 and they are getting someone to deliver it for me. Did have to race home and get the front room cleared of all the packing material, boxes, and auction-estate items I had strewn all over. 🙂

@abzoid TOBY … would love to see a pic of your items when you get the time.

@charper99 CHAR … were you following the instructions found over on the right-hand column here that says ”How To Post a Picture Link”? Wondering if it was giving you a problem and if we need to double-check our instructions.

@fran2 FRAN2 … thanks for posting Char’s photo. Absolutely beautiful vase but art glass is so totally out of my league so I haven’t got a clue.

HI to CURT, HELEN, GEORGE, CARL, and FENTON.

  • Good morning/afternoon, glassies. Trying very hard to get some new items listed. Also have to go to the local mall and restock my booth this afternoon.

@charper99 CHAR ... thanks for the heads-up on Curt's birthday. Will bake a cake in just a minute! 😀

@amber1986 AMBER ... I live in a relatively small town, pop. 6,400. But most towns are at least 15-20 miles away and always wide-open space between. I do love Oklahoma.

@ohiostar FENTON ... absolutely gorgeous glass! Congratulations on such lovely finds!

@wellingtonct LAURIE ... behave yourself! You know better than to over-do like that! 🙂 Do hope you are feeling better soon.

HI to JULIE, NANCYJEAN, DON, SHELLY, and BETH!

  • Home from settling up with my last booth for the month. Now I can get busy and do my sales taxes.

@gailmacphee GAIL ... lovely vase, but have no idea other than I'd be looking at one of the elegant glass makers. Unfortunately, elegant glass is not an area that I'm too familiar with and always have to call on the other glassies for help with IDs.

@charper99 CHAR... ROTFLOL! Oh no, we aren't talking about helping people in the forums. I have 3 friends, either being treated for cancer or with disabilities, whom I take to run their errands or doctor's appointments or laundry, etc. I was just saying it was no big deal to help them because I like them and enjoy their company. If they were mean or curmudgeons, I'd let someone else drive them about. 😀

  • Home from a pleasant evening at my sister's.

@charper99 CHAR ... I have a big outdoor HD antenna. But we had a terrible weekend last week of storms. Apparently there is some type of small transformer at the top of the antenna that they think got damaged.

@itsagas BILL ... here is the site I have bookmarked for Fenton logos. http://www.fentonartglass.com/about-fenton-glass/fenton-history/fenton-logo-history ....oh, I see everyone else answered you too. 🙂

  • @fran2 FRAN2 ... I emailed Leah but she said everything was showing up for her.

@charper99 CHAR ... You really don't have to refer to it as a blank. Perhaps the blank itself has a pattern name, such as Fostoria's Baroque....sometimes it's plain, sometimes it has an etch. So if no pattern, I'd call it Fostoria Baroque. If it has an etch, I'd call it Fostoria Baroque with Meadow Rose etch.

Back to the Celebrity Apprentice....... 🙂

  • @charper99 CHAR ... Is there any kind of logo on the bottom of the glass? I'm going through HMW's The Tumbler Book. Federal had a similar pattern but they probably would have had their logo on it.

  • @charper99 CHAR .. I went to Replacements and looked at all of Culver LTD and they didn't have a pic of your pattern. Sorry, I just don't know of any other place to look.

  • @charper99 CHAR ... use photobuckets or any host will be fine. Just remember to only paste the URL of photo...no "img" before or after the URL.

@reen REEN ... what a beautiful home and garden you have!

  • Ah, I see CHAR @charper99 to the rescue...so @sewerrats name is actually DAWN ! Sounds alot better than Rats! 😆

Hi, LAINEY! KATIE , have fun in KC. With the days getting longer and the weather getting better, maybe we can find a half-way point to meet and go treasure hunting together sometime.

  • @charper99 CHAR ... oh, thank you very much. I am really looking forward to seeing him, but I have no idea when I will be traveling there. Alot of it will depend on when it is convenient for them too. Just kind of playing it by ear right now.

  • Char @charper99 Click on your profile link and then click on "edit profile". Copy & paste the link that fran2 posted, in "eBay Auctions URL" and then click save.
    Julie

  • @charper99 Char, I wanted to look at your auctions but the link that you put in your profile here for your ebay items is incorrect...when I click on it it takes me to MY ebay page, and not yours. I am not quite sure how to do it correctly but someone else here may know. I have 2 ebay names, so I remember I went to my buying name and pulled up my selling name and got the link that way. Not sure how to do it if/when you have only one ebay name.

  • @sellingthings MARTY ... I don't thing your bowl is EAPG. I think it is could be cut glass. The green compote is a remake of a pattern originally called AMELIA aka STAR MEDALLION. .. not originally made in that color.

@charper99 ,,, So sorry I can't be of more help, but I just don't know that pattern.

  • @charper99 Char - The creamer and sugar are a very common set available in bulk at many restaurant supply stores.

  • @charper99 CHAR ... yes, it's possible the plate is EAPG, but the pattern looks a bit fuzzy to me in the photo. Could you take a close up of just one portion of the plates design so I can see it clearly...I'd like to see more clearly the large faceted area along with the pointed ovals on either side of it.

  • @charper99 CHAR ... pretty plate, but I don't know who made it. At first glance it looks like it should be EAPG and maybe sun-purpled....but on second glance, I'm wondering if it is newer and only made to look like an older design. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • Hi @panishklo MARSON and @charper99 CHAR ... Good to see you two dropping in. We don't get to see you as often as we would like. Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season too

Been on the phone all day trying to give away a bed and divan. Both are in excellent condition. The Salvation Army said they had no room for them. Finally found a person who is delighted to get the bed. I posted the divan on Freecycle and got a call about it too. Both parties are returning later this evening to pick them up. ... hopefully. 🙂

  • @amber1986 AMBER.... if you want CHAR to be aware that you have mentioned her in a post all you have to do is use the ampersand sign with her log-in ID. You can find the log-in ID of anyone by clicking on their picture. So if you type @charper99 you will see that it shows up in blue after you post your message. When it shows in blue the chat room automatically sends an email to the person so they know they have been mentioned.

  • @charper99 CHAR ... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the easiest way to distinguish if something is flashed or stained... flashing is always BLOWN glass.... only staining can be done on PRESSED glass.

@jerseystar27 Nancy P ... Hope you have a great time and find some fun treasures!

  • Home from my mall run. Heard on the radio we had yet another earthquake last night. Everyone keeps talking about them, and I keep missing them!

@charper99 CHAR … Hi! Glad you signed up for the Chatroom! When you have time take a look at the tab in the upper right-hand corner of the screen that says ”How To” Manual. Some things are a little different here than on eBay…and are a lot more fun. Also to the right of the screen you will see ”How to Post a Picture Link”.

Having to go start sorting, tagging, and packing stuff to take to mall #5 tomorrow in Joplin.

  • @charper99
Hi Char, I believe your lovely bowl is Imperial Octagon aka Bellaire # 505.
    Fran
