Good Morning. Weather report a repeat of yesterday. I am loving this rain. Now all we need do is get rid of the horrid humidity and I'll be a very happy girl.
Tomorrow we are suppose to be training down at the beach running the steep stairs there. BUt pretty sure that is going to be cancelled because of the weather. I always enjoy our sessions down there. It's a hard slog but with it being such a beautiful spot it does really make you feel motivated and determined. Plus that lovely fresh ocean air we breathe in. LOVE IT!!
Sharon @sfinds I am glad you like your cake. I spent hours baking and decorating it just for you. Clever aren't I? 😆 😆 -
@sfinds Happy Birthday, Sharon!!
Sunny in NJ and the temps are going up so yesterday's snow/ice/sleet/rain is melting.

@sfinds Sharon, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
It's not just spring in NJ, it's summer. It's already 70F -- I've opened windows in the house. Birds are chirping. Will start raining tomorrow and we'll be back in the 40s.

Mahnin'All: It's 48 degrees and we're forecast for a partly cloudy day with highs in the low 70's.
Going to pick the last of the Tomatoes today. Not too many left out there & the plants are pretty much dead now. Same with the Cucumbers. Beans are still producing & there's some that need to be picked.
@sfinds : So glad to hear that your house survived with minimal damage. Must be a huge relief for you. Hope you can get back in there asap.

Good Morning. A beautiful Spring type day here. Even got my first blowfly in the house, for the season. Grrrr they drive me insane buzzing around, hitting walls and windows
One more sleep and I start my adventure to Nepal. I am so excited!! I bet I won't get much sleep tonight.Sharon @sfinds I am glad your house came out OK
Nancy @jerseystar27 yes I did read on the Vintage Group about the Go Fund Me for Toby. Thanks for sharing

@sfinds Sharon, I'm so glad to hear your house and shed are okay!! So sad about all of the damage. We have good friends in Corpus Christi who evacuated, as did their daughter whose house is closer to the water. Amazingly they were able to go back the next day and at least their daughter had power (they may have).
Friends in Houston aren't doing as well. For those who know Toby Aulman from the eBay Glass Board (I think he may sometime stop in here), the house he shares had 3 inches of water in it yesterday. Not sure how it is today. Toby is one of the administrators of the Vintage Glass Group on Face Book. One of the co-administrators set up a Go Fund Me page for Toby as they don't have flood insurance. https://www.gofundme.com/toby-aulman-hurrican-harvey-repairs

Good morning everyone Looks like we are having a run of perfect Spring type weather here. But we do need rain badly. All those windy days we had beginning of August has left everything so so very dry.
More sad news another friend has passed away. A great musician/drummer.We all lost contact with him, because of his mental state.. Too much alcohol and drugs fried his brain. His behaviour became irrational and weird and then he stop recognising any of us. He's been walking around in a zombie like state for many many years. He did have professional help through all this, its not like we just abandoned him.He was setup in a good flat walking distance to the shopping centre. DH and I used to see him regularly but he never recognised who we were. Sad to see someone go that way.
George @george I have to agree with you there, appliance shopping is not fun.Sharon @sfinds hope everything's OK and no damage will be done

Sharon @sfinds you are getting around. I hope you are enjoying your travels 🙂

Good Morning everyone Cooler temps today and by the look of the sky we will get some rain.
Yesterday was so hot but later in the afternoon a cool change came through. I was at a friends house. We were sitting under their huge Camphor Laurel tree enjoying a nice cold beer. The wind was very hot at first but then it became still, skies became very hazey and then the westerly wind turned into a nice cool southerly....heavenly 🙂
Been shopping with my sister today at the local Harvest Markets. Nice fresh organic and mostly locally grown(or at least Australian grown) fruit , veg and meat. And I just discovered a local milk that is to die for. I first tried it at a new local coffee shop You can really taste the difference. Saw a stall today that was selling it. had to get me a bottle (yep a bottle, a real glass bottle. Not cardboard or plastic 🙂 )
Gail @songbreeze I am so glad you enjoyed your day. Its the little things that make it so. SO many ppl get behind the oncology units and do a lot to make your time there as enjoyable as possible. It was the same here And as strange as it sounds DH and I enjoyed going because everyone around you were all positive and so happy go lucky. A great atmosphere to be in
Sharon @sfinds nothing beats fresh caught fish.As a child that's the only fish I ever ate. Straight from the lake or ocean cooked and onto the plate. At one stage in my life I would not eat or buy any fish. It just didn't have the same taste and I couldn't enjoy it. Taste buds have now adjusted LOL
Irene @jmart8248 Glad you enjoyed your birthday
Wendy @wjweese and Reen @reen good to see you are on the mend. Take things easy though

Good Morning everyone. Yestday the humidity was atrocious. I was so sure wwe were in for a good storm but it didn't happen
I missed my early morning swim this morning. A blue ringed octypus was found, so they shut the pool. It was due to be emptied and cleaned yesterday as per usual. But finding the octypus they were not going to refill till today. I don't know why. They found it they took it away, what's the problem? I was looking foward to my walk afterwards too. The new path that has been built to take in the spectacular ocean views all the way has been opened.
Shelly @shellyrae37 if you can find someone to paint a room for $25 send them my way LOL A friend got a quoate last year for one of her rooms and the quotes she received were in the thousands dollar price range.
Gail @songbreeze you still look gorgeous!
Sharon @sfinds the Dr gave me some excerises to do. I use to suffer vertigo a lot. Since doing them years ago I haven't had a bout of it since

Good Morning everyone
Carl @carma pleased to read your weather is improving.
Sharon @sfinds most things these days are disposable. When it breaks you throw it away and buy a new one. In most cases it is easier and cheaper that way than to get it repaired.
LOL and as I scroll up I see Jim @dorbitz & JimD @newtonenterprises have said the same.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Glad to hear all went well. Take things easy and enjoy your nap -
Good morning, glassies.
@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... oh so very good to see you and glad you are up and at it! So glad you have an iPad so you can check in until you get your computer fixed.
JIM L and JIM D ... very interesting to learn how disposable some things are in this day and age that we never before thought of as being "disposable." ....coffee pots, lamps, microwaves, irons, ad infinitum.
@sfinds SHARON .... laughed at your post, because I thought with just a tweak here or there it absolutely could have been written by me! Ditto to most everything you said! 🙂
Good morning to CARL and GEORGE.

Good morning, glassies. Woke up to 72 temperature and 45 mph winds. Mid morning clouds moved in and it started to rain. Cold front on its way and temp has already dipped to 50. I babysit the museum all afternoon...time to catch up on my reading and crocheting. 🙂
@sfinds SHARON ... I don't have time to dig further but looking at the WVMAG Monograph #67, that style handle was made by Cooperative Flint and also by L.E. Smith.
HI to CARL, FRAN 2, SHELLY, GEORGE, and NANCY P.

Good morning, glassies. Winter is still here and it is suppose to snow tonight but by weekend we are to warm up so there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Been up to my ears in alligators. So many friends are taking ill with life-threatening woes. There's so much to do and I think I'd just like to go sit in my recliner with my cat and hide.
I've overdosed on trying to learn new things. Windows 8, Quicken, Photoshop Elements 12..... instead, I sat and read Star magazine while drinking my coffee this morning.
@sfinds SHARON ... I apologize that I didn't get back to you and really appreciated your email. Haven't decided what I want to do about this back pain, but it's waking me up every night and I suppose I'll have to do something about it soon. Procrastination seems to be my middle name.
Well, my biggest decision today seems to be whether I'll change out of my pajamas or not..........
HI to CARL, DON, and GEORGE.
-
@fyrqueen KATIE ... I'm not familiar with "frostquakes"...how does it manifest itself?
@sfinds SHARON ... oh my, I've been having terrible pain in my side and back "stitches" that have about hobbled me lately. Does the Chiropractor really help so that the pain completely goes away?
Waving back to @jmart8248 IRENE M.... hope you all thaw out soon up there. What a ghastly winter it's been for all you Northerners and North Easterners.
@dorbitz JIM L ... Yea for CHELSEA!
-
Good morning, glassies.
@wattleihavenext JULIE ... sounds like a really super kind of day! How much fun! Would love to see a pic of your stemware.
@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... I was trying to convert my documents to my new Windows 8. All is well now on that account. Still so much yet to learn and, most of all, to try to REMEMBER!
@sfinds SHARON ... gee, don't know how I missed why you are having to go to the Chiropractor. Do you have to go much longer? Sure hope all is progressing well for you.
@mainewildrose SUE ... Interesting about the alt codes. None of the alt codes I always used before will work on this new computer. Isn't that strange? I always used alt+268 for degrees, alt+14 for music notes, and alt+3 for hearts. None of that works for me anymore. I'm thinking it may be that I know longer have the second number pad off to the right of my keyboard. I just have the standard numbers at the top of the keyboard and it won't work with them. bummer
HI to DON, CARL, GEORGE, and JIM D!
-
Got a few minutes before I head out to town.
@shellyrae37 SHELLY ... The fellow at the store showed me Windows 8 and why people didn't like it. But he also showed me a free download you can get on the web called Classic Shell. It lists all the old versions you are used to and you can click on one and it will give you the same "look" as you are use to with a start button and icons you're use to on the desk top, etc. Since all the computers were 8 or 8.1 both in Tulsa and here, I decided to go ahead and give it a go. Will let you know how it works out when I finally get it out of the box and set up. Hopefully later today or tomorrow I'll get it done.
@sfinds SHARON ... oooooooeeeeeee that sounds way too discouraging. Sure hope you can get the keyboard working soon.

@sfinds : We heat with oil, which is currently at around $3.49 a gallon. And, we're using a lot of it this year! But, the cost is really no cheaper with other sources. They've jacked the prices up on everything else; Electric, natural gas, propane & even wood. People who heat with wood have used up so much this year that there's now a shortage of seasoned wood & the price (if you can find any) is not much cheaper than oil. They're saying there's a back-log of 5-6 weeks for cords of wood which doesn't help folks who are almost out.

@sfinds Yep that video brought back some fond memories And my Dad has been immortalised on You Tube. Can you imagine now a days them letting the driver take their children into the "cabin" of those trains, standing only inches away from that huge furnace, while the coal boy shovelled coal into it?? Not to mention there were no doors to stop us from falling out . I remember Mum used to cook Dad hot meals to take to work and he would heat them up on the furnace.
George @george I think "Call Boy" today would conjure up some entirely different ideas of what they did LOL

@sfinds : It was probably the Denver Zephyr. I once rode on it! During the mid 1950's we lived in Illinois for 5 years, in Galesburg. One Saturday morning when I was around 7-8 years old my Dad asked if I wanted to ride downtown with him & off we went. Little did I know! LOL! The Denver Zephyr was in town, fresh from being totally renovated & on her maiden publicity tour. They were offering 1 hour excursion rides & my Dad had gotten us tickets. I had an absolute BALL! Even got to ride in the observation dome for a few minutes of it. It was my very first train ride & still remember it vividly.

Looks like the Arctic front is starting to swing through already. We're getting some intense little snow squalls & the wind is picking up.
@sfinds : No, I don't work on the layout every day. I do a little here & there as time & funds permit. It's NOT a cheap hobby. I often improvise, scratch-build stuff and scrounge useful materials from wherever I can, but there's a lot of supplies that you just have to break down & buy (and a lot of them are expensive). So, I work on it until supplies run low, then ease off for awhile as I start stockpiling supplies again. I've been stockpiling little by little for almost 3 months now & getting ready to get cracking again.

Sharon @sfinds for years, on and off, I suffered from Vertigo Not good at all. I do sympathise with you. My Dr gave me these"excerises" to do and I swear by them. I have not had an attack since
http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html#homeShelly @@shellyrae37 I have found it best to open up "Notepad" and type my responses there, as I scroll the board. Then I just copy paste when I am done. No chance then of accidentally deleting it or leaving the page when you click on a link

Good morning, glassies. Oh, how in the world do so many of you wake up so early. I could sleep another 3 or 4 hours if left on my own. big yawwwwwwwwnnnnnn.
@reen REEN ... sounds very pretty to use apple rings. This was an apple "cobbler cake" 6 cups of sliced apples on the bottom mixed in sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a 1/4 cup of yellow cake mix and baked tightly covered for 25 minutes. Then the rest of the dry cake mix is mixed with a stick of melted butter and the resulting crumble is dropped all over the top and cooked for 25 more minutes. Have no idea how it tastes....we'll see. 🙂
@carma CARL ... oh my word, the news was telling all about the weather hitting Maine! Just as you said...the highest level of snow fall from this storm and another 2nd storm already on it's way to your area. I know you have yourself prepared for all of it, but brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's still hard to imagine having to deal with it.
