Good Day Glassies ~! Goodness, you've all been a busy bunch the last couple days. I had to "load more" to go back to where I last checked in a couple days ago to see what I've missed!
I was going to work on restoration of an old floor lamp on the back porch this morning but a new wasp nest dissuaded me of that plan. Instead, today is the top kitchen cabinets clean out day.
I talked to a local auction house a few days ago about consigning my stuff, mostly smalls and mostly glass. He said smalls and glass in particular are really hard to get rid of right now, not getting anything for them. Huh. I think he was just trying to discourage me from bothering him with what he probably assumes are boxes of junk. It kinda ticked me off. So, I went to an estate sales person I've dealt with before, because they know my boxes aren't full of junk, but the problem with them is I'll have no idea how much a single piece sold for, or if it sold or was stolen and they get 40%. Consignment shops have a too slow turn over and get 50%. Auction is my best return (20% or less around here) AND I'll know how much each item sold for, or if in a lot. I'm going to contact other auction houses and see if there is one with more enthusiasm for smalls.
Marty - Love turbo lister, for the most part. Have a couple templates set up with my own html. Just fill in the details like title, price, weight and description, pictures. And never have to deal with the ever changing SYI form. Get a mess of listings all prepared and launch them when I feel like it. Only issue I have had with TL is that the program is slow sometimes.
Katie - I'm so glad the family and friends at the funeral were spared the insane ravings of that Westboro group! What a nice uplifting story - I wish it would have made the national news! More people need to know that they and they perverted message can be thwarted and how.
Don - he's darling! (so's Alvin the chipmunk!) I'm clueless on the pitcher pattern, of course.
Gail and Gail Mac - Also wish I had a smart phone. I'm not rich enough to pay $100 + a month. But I do know I could figure one out. Sons both have one and I got to play with them. If you can get around a computer, you can use a smart phone. My "get around" for now, bring my laptop with me on treasure hunts. If i see something interesting, I write down a note to self in a little notepad (because I forget with minutes!) and then find the nearest wi-fi, usually McDs.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZY!!! NancyP - What a good question! Why do I so often forget to include needed info! Dear Suzy is catches my omission of such info like dimensions, too!
