Hi Fran and Fellow Glass Friends. Hope all is well. To answer on Wendy’s vase, it is not Kralik or Bohemian glass. Appears to be a newer piece of glass. Think, Pier One. Sorry, I can’t bring good news, but I appreciate the thought and glad to be of help when I can. Take care for now…. Leah ๐Ÿ™‚ View

Good Morning everyone. I went away for 4 days. I headed south 400klms to a swapmeet. First time I have done this one. Everyone had been talking it up, saying how good it was. But it rained, the crowd count was down and everyone was saying how slow sales were. It was OK but nothing spectacular. I had a fantastic time though. Lots of fun.

"It seems to me that the glass is a fine white casing on the inside, and pale amber on the outside, the pink and yellow (or white) seems to be in the middle though it is all very fine and pretty hard to tell"

Good Morning everyone. We have been getting some glorious weather down here. Nice crisp mornings followed by warm sunny days. I love Autumn!!
Betty @sjell I am glad you had a lovely day. You deserve it so much with all you have been through lately
Leah @goodwinantiques Thank you for the added info on the drape pattern. Are you saying her pitcher is Kralik?
BTW a word of warning . Be very careful going into the Pressglas-Korrespondenz site. It sucks you in and before you know it the whole day has gone ๐Ÿ™‚ Also Glenn Thistlewood is such a lovely person, she shares her knowledge so freely. Her sites are a great reference and she is often answering questions on the GMB , along with many other knowledgeable ppl, which is another good site for any glass that is of European origin.

@goodwinantiques : Hi, Leah. No, I've not seen any American wholesale catalogs with imported Carnival Glass in them. Many Butler Bros. Catalogs have imported glass, but I've not seen imported Carnival in them. You'll find a good deal of information on foriegn made Carnival, including factory catalog reprints from firms in Europe, India, South America etc. on Glen Thistlewood's website. She has done extensive research on non-American Carnival Glass. Go Here:

    http://www.thistlewoods.net/

Gail: Carnival is best photographed outside on a cloudy day, when lighing is flat. Direct sunlight is not good. Use a neutral gray or pale blue background for dark, vivid colors like Marigold, Amethyst, Green etc. Use a dark background like black or dark blue for pastels like White, Ice Blue, Ice Green etc.

    Hi All,

@shellyrae37 - I had no clue either, but like I said I use Stamps.com. I just wasn't going to ship the thing under my name.

@wattleihavenext - No Problem, I got it and will get a card off to her, mail that isn't a bill is worth it's weight in gold. Miss P must be getting really big, and If I remember right isn't there another on the way? Someday I hope I will have a little grand one running around.

@charper99 - I don't have any complaints on the shipping charges. I will never ever mark anything fragile. Had it out with the postmaster one time about that, I won he lost.

@itsagas - Are You talking about my yellow basket over on RL(LOL) I see Leah has helped you out.

@songbreeze - Also see Leah has helped you.

@fryqueen - Sorry can't help on vase, and Allergies really bite this year. Though I have found mucinex has helped with my claritin.

@goodwinantiques - Thanks for the basket education. I will send pictures of my basket (mine is a ugly bright yellow(LOL))when I have an extra few minutes.

@baabaamson - just get a full size keyboard and plug it into the laptop.

Some quick birthday greetings (on time & late):
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Betty @sjell LEAH @goodwinantiques and Elaine!!

    Lainey @favoritegram Happy Pesach (Passover)!

Second seder is at my house tonight (we were at my mom's last night), an ever-changing number of family members will be here; most of the food is cooked, we're cleaning now. We are dealing with on-going health issues for MIL which is why DH is only now getting to vacuuming living room & dining room. SIL from San Diego has been here since Tues. and isn't heading home until 4/17 (at least part of the trip was pre-planned), so at this point she's dealing with most of it.

@goodwinantiques : Leah, if you read the description on that auction, it clearly states that the auction is for the domain name only. The Loetz Art Glass website itself is NOT included in the sale.

But, it would be disastrous if the website went under. Probably the best source of info on Loetz, Rindskopf & Kralik on line. I use it for reference frequently & keep it bookmarked.

Good afternoon everyone It is a gorgeous hot sunny day. Not too hot just the right hot.I hope it stays this way for tomorrow for Miss P's Naming Ceremony.
Went to the Bottle Shop to buy a bottle of Moet Champagne for the occassion and the Manager there talked me into another Champagne, said Moet was not as "good" as it used to be and he recommended Veuve Clicquot, a little more expensive then the Moet , so I am hoping this is a nice one.
Kelli @enchantmentglass you are perfectly correct, that must have been exactly what I did LOL
Leah @goodwinantiques lovely lamp and I also loved the old postcard. Hard to imagine trying to swim in those costumes. I am sure one would sink from the shear weight of them once they were wet LOL I know I wouldn't like to be doing my laps each morning wearing one of those

@jmart8248 IRENE M ... I'm not much help to anyone tonight. I don't know your bowl. My guess would be newer European lead crystal that you would find in a gift or jewelry store. ... just a guess. Oh, well, I scrolled up further and see George thinks the same thing.

@jmart8248 re "dealers used to say is โ€donโ€™t ever break up a setโ€ That was probably before online shopping LOL Full sets of anything cost a lot to ship and therefore deducts to the amount of $$$ the seller would get.
An online seller will in the end get more $$ for splitting sets then selling them whole, not to mention the world wide exposure you get of ppl looking to add to what they already have.

@goodwinantiques : I will do that. Pontil is circular & concave. Yes, Mt. Washington did do a Bow Knot Pouch Vase. Examples are extremely rare. I found a glossy one pictured online from one of James Julia's Art Glass auctions. Shaped similar to this, but a little fatter & shorter. This one stands 6" tall & the one from the Julia auction was listed as 5 1/4" tall.

Thanks for your help & for pointing me in a few more search directions.

@goodwinantiques : Pontil is finely polished. Glass is fairly light in weight. Not thick & heavy like the contemporary stuff. Very fine, soft satin finish. i was not thinking along the lines of Stevens & Williams. More towards My. Washington. They DID use this applied Bow Knot.

@goodwinantiques : Just the person I was hoping would show up. I bought a piece of Burmese today & if my hunch is correct, I may have really scored with this piece. I will get a couple quick photos taken & post them.

    Back in a few.

Hi all. Busy today till now so could not stop in.

The other day I posted some Morgantown hopefuls. I have now confirmed the small Blue Vase is indeed Morgantown. The Tumbler is likely Morgantown also but will be sending pics and dimensions to the Old Morgantown Glass Collectorsโ€™ Guild for confirmation. From what I have seen so far, I believe they are.

@goodwinantiques Leah,I am always stunned by the beautiful pieces you post for us to see. Thanks for sharing them with us.

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... Just lovely lovely pieces. Where DO you find these things? gorgeous.

All day nearly with festival committees, sorting prizes for the kids booths. The men got the big tents up today. Tomorrow they build the booths. Friday will be decorating and baking for the bake sale.

@donscns DON ... have I driven you crazy with all the emails? I hope those codes will work ok for you.

Was too tired to make supper when I got home, but think I'll go fix a bite now. Being that it's almost 9 pm, I may just fix breakfast.

@bdog MIKE ... ai-yi-yi!. If you were just getting home when you posted then you must be on Julie's time! Night is your day and day must be your night! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Mike, also think you would like to know that we never lose a post on this site. If you reach the bottom of the scroll, it will say LOAD and you can just keep going. Also if you are trying to find a post that someone made, all you have to do is click on their photo and you will see all of the posts they made.

    I LOVE this website!

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... thanks so much for info on my lamp bases. All I can learn sure helps. I only have one oil lamp book. Will continue to the search to see if I can come up with a pattern name.

@goodwinantiques Hey, there is nothing wrong with that. I try to keep away from all that stuff too as much as possible (not totally). Anyone who knows me, when I talk about "Big Brother" and how I try to stay away from things that keep a record or track your movements, they usually do think Im the village nut! I try not to sell myself to the devil so to speak to, so called making things easier. You have to weigh these things out. And you know what, Im usually proved right!
Now I will be thought of as the village nut. ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh well

Hoping @goodwinantiques Leah pops in and takes a peek and sees if it looks at all familiar to her...well maybe she will now that she has been summoned...lol

@goodwinantiques Great pieces of glass! Peachblow glass is a very interesting subject and the term is often misused and many think that any verigated pink to white is peachblow. As you said a number of manufacturers made peachblow including New England glass and Mt Washington glass in addition to what you mentioned.
Great pieces and thanks for sharing them!

Hi, glassies. Just getting home from being out of town for the parish picnic and I'm so tired I'm about to drop.

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... I subscribed to Worthpoint for a month...maybe two. It was expensive as far as I was concerned. I got their cheapest monthly rate which allowed 25 "look-ups". Well, I thought that meant I would be able to see the prices for 25 different things. Not necessarily. If I "searched" (different from a look-up) say for Bob's bull-head mustard and a search pulled up 3 items, they would only see the same description you see. They would NOT have the price. If I wanted to see one, I would have to click on it and use one of my "look ups". If I wanted to see all three that would cost me three of my look-ups. I found many of the look-ups were old....2007, 2008 etc. Well, the economy is a lot different today and I couldn't see older prices like that being of much help in knowing the current market. Also since they were just using old eBay descriptions, the identity of some items was not necessarily accurate either. Needless to say, I canceled my subscription.

@reen REEN ... what a lovely display of your collection. Wondering what the patterns are of your cake plates.

I am just beat. Going to go fix a glass of ice water and crash for a minute.

@goodwinantiques Yes, I have heard of Worthpoint. The are an antiques site that have people who are so called experts that can help you with questions you may have about antiques is various catagories. They post auction results and Im sure many other things.
However, you have to pay for their services.
Thats about all I know about them.

@donnah ... Bravo! What a beautiful dog! Are you a Donna or a Donnah? Wasn't certain if the "h" was the initial for your surname as several glassies have done that when there's more than one with the same first name or if that was the actual spelling of your given name.

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... You had mentioned your age but not the actual month/day of your birthday. Don't believe we have you on the birthday list yet unless I missed it.

    Good Evening Everyone ...

@goodwinantiques Leah, thank you for the ID on my green vase. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, been very, very busy.
    To answer your question:
Fran, that vase appears to me to be Bohemian Kralik. The rim is cut and base has no pontil, correct? There is no pontil, but I don't believe the rim is cut because it doesn't have sharp edges. They are smooth rounded edges. I found this site that shows more crackle: http://www.kralik-glass.com/frametemplate.html . I see where most of them have cut rims. So where does that leave mine?? I haven't had time to do any further research and I am a total glass dummie!! Hope it is a rare Kralik! lol Could you suggest a place where I could send a pic to get it verified?
    Thanks, Fran2

Hi Leah @goodwinantiques I have had a look at your glass & it is DDG.
Yes it is great to have a sister live so close by. Actually most of my family, except Mum & 1 sister, all live only minutes away.
Gail @songbreeze you know it is around about this time we all got to meet up at Marypat's. I can't remember the exact date but know it was Sept 2007. What a great time we all had
Bill @itsagas Now that would be some museum to see. And how wonderful that some of us Glassies have helped contribute to his collection. Amazing a piece I bought from a market down here, sent over to him will possibly l now end up in a museum in Minneapolis. Just goes to show how wonderful the world of the internet can be ๐Ÿ™‚

HOme for the day. Worn out as it was so hot, but we made it to 6 or 7 malls. Not too much to see. Bought a couple of small things. Just sitting here trying desperately to cool off in front of the air conditioner.

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... oh, I just thought from the way you talked about Moscow Pete he was like a neighbor or you knew him in person. I've found it so much fun to meet, in 3-D as they say, some glassies that I've known for ever so long in cyberspace. ๐Ÿ™‚ We've always chuckled about what our mental images were before we actually met each other.

Still haven't unloaded the car, but needed to cool down first. Guess I need to go fix some supper too.

Tony @jagofc Try to think of the move as a new adventure. BUT I would dread all that packing and moving.
Gail @songbreeze I have sold to Moscow Pete. That was some years back now and he was very lovely to deal with.
    @scott nice items
Leah @goodwinantiques haven't had a chance to look at your glass yet, but later today I am going to make time. I am expecting a phone call from my sister any moment now. She usually gives me about 10 mins notice, that she wants to go out for breakfast LOL

Good morning, glassies. First week of the month so headed down South to the malls in Chouteau to restock and settle up with my booths. Will be gone all day. Suppose to be 101ยฐ today...a little cooler than the past few days.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... I just love the smell of Spring and good rich earth and love getting plants and seedlings started.

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... So you know Moscow Pete? What's he like? young old short tall thin fat nice gruff etc. Inquiring minds want to know. I've just had fun watching some of the many auctions over the years between him and David Kastor. I know mentally how I picture the two, but would love to know more. Someone had said he didn't live in the U.S. ...and then someone else said he had moved back. On another FB collectors' group they said it was definitely he that had won the syrup pitcher. Another person said he might open a museum some day....

@reen REEN โ€ฆ that beautiful mantle full of glass belongs to FRAN/dbfrogs. I sure WISH it were mine! ๐Ÿ™‚

@suzy SUZY โ€ฆ I swoon over ALL your glass. Impossible to have a favorite as it is ALL favorites.

@goodwinantiques LEAH โ€ฆ ah, youโ€™ve just made another BFF with FRAN/dbfrogs by linking to that Chihuly. If I remember right, she went to exhibit and came home with pics.

As for as the EAPG ruby stain syrup, speculation is that it was Moscow Pete and many think the second bidder was dkastor. How we all miss being able to see the bidderโ€™s ID anymore as watching those 2 outbid each other over ruby-stain pieces was a definite eBay pastime for many glassies. ๐Ÿ˜€

Had to make a post office run and now itโ€™s up to 103ยฐ โ€ฆ. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

@goodwinantiques LEAH ... For 7 years Fran/dbfrogs posted the morning coffee on the eBay Chatroom. It helps us determine on a long scroll when night ends and a new day of postings begin. Fran always has cute frogs with her coffee pot. I must find a mascot to go with the coffee here. ๐Ÿ™‚ But man, it's taking a lot of time just trying to round up different pics for the coffee alone. Might do a cat and dog search at some point.

Also, Leah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses that wonderful "delete" feature that Curt has available here. I use it ALL the time. Particularly if I find I've posted something and then immediately have a second post. I like to copy the info, delete the two posts and combine it into one post. Also, I like to correct spelling or grammar (when or if I know my error which isn't always...:) )

Vouch for DON/donscns? hmmmmmmmm, ROTFLOL. Absolutely. He's a dear to keep our Welcome Post updated. A link to your glass collection would be a wonderful addition.

@jagofc TONY .... lovely little EAPG Compote made in 1911 by Indiana Glass Co. called PANELED HEATHER (#126)

Tony is your nekid lady something called LADY ON THE STUMP? Don't remember the exact name for her. Just exquisite.

@fyrqueen KATIE ... Do you have this website bookmarked? It's where many of go first to check for an etch. I'm a bit on the run this morning, so no time to go through it. But type in +etch +swag and see what the search pulls up. Might try some other combinations of search too ... http://clicksnipwow.com/chataboutdg/
