• Good afternoon, glassies.

@ginnyrose CAROL ... so glad to see you stopping in. Hope all has been going well with you.

@wattleihavenext JULIE ... sounds like great fun and hoping you have a wonderful trip!

@glassusa BOB ... Sorry, I'm no help, but it's a lovely little cruet.

@carma CARL ... sorry to hear that your one little warm day is going to cause your weather to be even worse tomorrow.

@gabla GEORGE ... I was thinking, don't you collect mugs? I have three mugs and I'm thinking they are all three reproductions, but I can't find anything definite. 1. Bryce Bros/US Glass ROBIN IN TREE, 3 3/4" tall, green.
    2. Atterbury ROBIN, 3 1/2" tall, deep blue .
    3. Unknown, HERON & PEACOCK, 2 5/8" tall, deep green.
I have a Degenhart book and they have #3 listed as STORK & PEACOCK, but it says it has the Degenhart logo and this mug does not. Appreciate any help you might be able to give.

  • Shelley @shellyrae37 Fantastic sale !!! Hope you get many more of them.

Carol @ginnyrose Haven't seen you here before. Come back soon and often. I know nothing about your stemware. In fact I don't know much about anything.

Katy @fyrqueen Hope your back gets better fast. Love your pink Pyrex. Some years 7-8 back I was cruising a neighborhood sale when I saw a pretty complete set of pink Club aluminum in the on the curb side garbage. I grabbed it . Sold it the next week on eBay. I have the turquoise set which I've been using for more than 50 years. I love my set and my cast iron skillets.

Marty @sellingthings Great design on your stand of clay pot planter. Will keep your construction instructions.

We continue to have hot dry weather. I think the steady sapping of the quite constant wind that we have been having is almost as damaging as the lack of ground moisture.

  • @suzy SUZY ... This heat is doing me in. I just returned from WalMart. I was going to stop by my sister's to chat and it was just so darn hot, I just came on home. So you can image if I can't drive a mile in this heat, I sure can't make it to Jenks. I really do want to make a trip, had hoped to in June, but until we get some cooler weather I'm just staying put in front of my a/c. Actually it was a bit cooler today...only 102° instead of 105° like yesterday. Last night on the news at 10:00 pm it was still 91° with a heat index of 99°.

@ginnyrose CAROL .... I'm searching but looking for a cocktail glass rather than a water or wine goblet makes it a lot harder. That plain straight leg is often difficult to narrow down too.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL … good to see you popping in too! Hope all has been going well for you.

@shellyrae37 SHELLY … yes if you have the smiley right up against a period or something it won’t show up. Have to have a space before and after it.

I keep posting and forget that AFTER I post I still should immediately refresh. I forget to do that and miss seeing a lot of posts until much later….

  • @Donscns Don, the more I thought about it the more I figured it had to be Mosser. One can dream. 🙂

@carma Carl, thanks for the head's up. I just tried one of my pics and got blocked by my blocker. What a bother as I just did two bulk uploads of pics to photobucket last night. I'll use tiny pic or village photos for the time being.

@oklahomasong Gail, don't you think twice about it. I can use all the help I can get and besides that, I get it wrong more often than not. I thank you most kindly for the help and your efforts.

@gabla George, Got it. Thank you so much for the help.

I so appreciate the help and education I get from all the wonderful Glassies here.

@ginnyrose Carol, I looked but kbow nothing. Sorry.

    Tony

  • @jagofc TONY ... Glad Sue corrected things. I should never have tried to ID that. I was so tired that I posted and then went to lay my head down...and now, 4 hours later, just woke up! 😯

@ginnyrose CAROL ... lovely powder jars but I'm sorry I don't know the who, what or when of them.

  • Little Miss P is sound asleep and so I want to remain very quiet around the house.Best place is here at the computer I can also see her in my bed from here.
@ginnyrose I think there are a few theories about the cause of Phar Laps death. Some say deliberate some say accident.
@glassusa I would imagine that you quickly pulled your head inside & zipped up your tent LOL
On camping trips here goanas can be a problem when it comes to gettng intp your food. Possums too.
    Julie

  • @ginnyrose
    You must have the Armadillos?
I loved the Manatees when I went to Florida, we have nothing like that in Califoenia!
Such an interesting animal, we do not have them here...
    Fran

  • @ginnyrose yes we do have a very strict quarantine policy and up until recently everything was great. But someone got slack with the horse industry and we now have "Horse Flu" which near crippled our horse racing industry.
    Julie

  • @ginnyrose Nor Koalas, red belly black snakes, brown snakes or Tasmanian Devils 🙂
There is a very interesting program happening here in my area @ Barrington Tops. The Tassie Devil, unique to the state of Tasmania only is becoming extinct because of a facial disease. They have shipped some up here and breeding them in a controlled area, hoping to prevent to continuation of this disease that is killing them off. So far it is successful

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... Fascinating! I had to go look that up on Wikipedia. Just enthralling to read all about it. Incredible!

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... it's on page 169 of HMW2 .. It's listed as AMELIA which is the original manufacturer's name.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL … Fran/dbfrogs has a 2 page website that shows a lot of the wanna-be candlewick. She’s gone this weekend but she’s our candlewick guru. http://candlewicklookalikes.com/ I don't know much about candlewick but one thing Fran always said was that if there was a seam mark going through the ball...like in your second pic...then it is NOT candlewick.

  • @ginnyrose …..your second bowl is star medallion. Made by Imperial Glass company. If it does not have an IG mark, it is old.
    Take a look here: http://www.ddoty.com/starmedallion.html

  • @ginnyrose In my opinion it depends on if it detracts from the piece. I can accept pieces where its not too worn or missing. The type of decoration is a factor too and missing decoration can be a greater factor than others therefore some decorations may allow for more missing decoration than others.
I know its a bit hard to follow and its just my opinion.

  • Lawn all done, OMG it grows so fast this time of year. I am sure when I have mowed the front and then come around to do the back yard the front has started to grow already & in need of doing again by the time the back is done LOL I am exhausted So going to guzzle some water, rest & scroll a bit
@ginnyrose all pic host links will work here and on the Ebay GB. It is just a matter of not using any HTML coding what so ever and just posting the URL of the pic. I can and do post links using my Free FTP Pic Host with my server. I use Photobucket, I use Piccassa too and on some occasions I will use tinypic. A very easy way to find the URL is once you upload to your host you put your cursor over the pic and right click, from there a drop down menu will show and you click on "copy image URL" then all you need do then is come to the board and paste. That way you don't even have to try to remember which line from all the choices those free sites give you. That is also a great way when using Photobucket, that way you end up posting a link to the pic only & you don't end up on that page with all the adverts along with it.

  • @ginnyrose I have to think about it.. none that I know of except Fish on Skiff. Now i would really have to scour my collection to find a picture of that one. We really do take advantage of our local seafood, especially the hard shell crabs.
As a matter of fact, we had crab cakes this evening.
Gail When you click on someone;s name it takes to your personal post page. If you don’t refresh and go back to home all your previous posts will appear in line

  • @tombredehoft cherryhill TOM & @ginnyrose CAROL … ah, to the rescue of my WAG on Carol’s bowl. I notice that Kemple also reproduced Ivy-in-Snow in the 70s. Was blue an original color for it or could that signal that it is a Kemple product?

  • @ginnyrose The wings and the neck are the distinguishing factor. I could spot one on a table a mile away. Beautiful mold work , especially when you consider it was done in the 1890,s jimD

  • @ginnyrose CAROL … this is just a maybe hardly-sure possible uncertainly-probably ID for your bowl…There are two patterns closely related, one called Stippled Ivy, one called Budded Ivy, by an unknown maker, ca. 1870s. But I don’t know if they made opaque blue glass back then. So it may just be a pattern that looks similar but was made much much later.

The tray is shown on page 147 of Newbound’s Milk Glass book. It says it was shown in Butler Brothers 1905 catalog in a dresser set with bottles and jars. No particular name for it, but Blue Milk Glass with the date should help if trying to sell it.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... CAD stands for Covered Animal Dish . HON is Hen On Nest. But there are a lot of different animals on lids so CAD covers all the ducks and monkeys and boars etc. 🙂

  • @ginnyrose ....CAD, covered animal dish

  • @ginnyrose The first one that I found was in clear glass at Green Valley auctions. I suppose that it would qualify as EAPG, but I really didn't want a clear piece so I let it go.

  • Good evening, glassies. Well, I went to church this morning and after Mass and coffee/cake and fellowship in the Parish Hall, my friend and I headed out of town and drove to Kansas. We shopped till we dropped! Can't say I found any particularly wonderful treasures, but did pick up a few things and had a great time.

@mary cxgirl MARY ... Oh, how I wish I could find a Steuben signature on those plates. No such luck and still searching for an ID on them.

@reen REEN ... that is absolutley positively indubitably the most gorgeous piece of glass I've seen in I don't know when...and to think it is a smoke bell! Incredible. If you ever put it up for sale, let me know.

@decoqueen JANICE ... I buy a lot of stuff from that West Virginia Museum of Glass. Last December I drove from Oklahoma to New York to Washington DC area and really wanted to stop at the Museum on my way back to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, both bad weather and the days they were closed worked against me and I had to by-pass it.

@ginnyrose CAROL ... I found this article very helpful in trying to distinguish among Fostoria American, Whitehall and Jeannette Cube. Maybe you will find it interesting too. http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y201/m05/abu0038/s06

@baabaamason BOB in KY ... sorry, I don't have any ideas on your lovely art glass items.

@susu46 SUSU ... to get the blue "mention" to show up you have to use the person's LOG-IN ID. Their display name will only work as a link if it is the same as the Log-In ID. You have to click on the avatar to see their Log-In ID. I open a second window of the chatroom so I can check the Log-In names.

@scott SCOTT and @reen REEN ... So love seeing pictures of people's collections. Terrific! and thanks to both of you for sharing. Can never see too many pictures of glass, so keep the photos coming!

@reen REEN ... if you get up to step 7, and you click the open...isn't it rather like uploading a pic to eBay. You tell it upload and then it should show up here. I can't quite remember how I did mine but it took several tries. I didn't have problem uploading the picture...I had difficulty in cropping it correctly. Are you at least getting the picture uploaded here back to your profile page?

Need to think about fixing some supper.....

  • @ginnyrose Carol Jeannette Glass Cube 1929-1933 was a copy cat of Fostorias American 1915 until closing the plant. To me the look and feel is different. Cube was only made in about 25 different shapes while American had a lot more Cube is primarily color and American primarily crystal(colorless). Fostoria did not need or use Jeannettes molds. Indiana Whitehall is a closer copy of American.

  • @ginnyrose Are you talking about pieces that were made as irridized jewelry? Like buttons, beads, etc. or jewelry that was made from broken carnival glass bowls, plates, ect.

    Scott

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... I don't believe that would be considered Carnival Glass, but I think there is something called Aurora Borealis (spelling?) in jewelry that has many colors. Might be a place to start....

  • @dudelbug ALICE ... Delighted you finally got over here and signed up! Welcome!

@ginnyrose CAROL ... what pretty colors, but I know nothing about jewelry. Some of our glassies might be able to help you, and there is also a Jewelry Chatroom that Curt made...you can see it to the right of the screen...and maybe they can help too.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... I can also feel your Roseville pottery pain. 😀 Well, as I've said before, not too many pioneer women loaded up their covered wagons with Tiffany, and had they done so, they would have sold it off long before the Dust Bowl blew it all away. So hopefully that will explain a little bit why I was not familiar with the LCT initials. Just nothing I've ever seen in my neck of the woods. I didn't know what those initials meant. I just thought here was this great looking carnival glass piece and it was signed! I figured it might be an art studio piece...maybe like Lundberg or Glass Eye or some such. NOW I know who LCT is and that it was a fake LCT and that little bit of information cost me $65. 😡

  • @ginnyrose We've had pieces stuck before and gotten them loose with either spraying WD40 around the edge and letting in soak and loosen the sticky, or soaking in warm soapy water.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL ... so sorry, but I don't have a clue. Love that deep deep blue with silver though.

@jswells bwcows JAN ... Glad you found the Chatroom. You need to link here to the inside of the bowl as I only see the outside of the bowl link.

@fran2 FRAN ... interesting bowl and a new one for me to see. I don't mean it's new...just mean I've not seen it before. Hopefully someone will come along soon and clue us both in. 🙂

@dl11111 DONNA ... good to see you! You have a great holiday weekend.

  • @ginnyrose ...If you are in a straight jacket .LOL My comment probably will not be helpful but I sometimes find that less light is more effective in getting a good picture.

  • @ginnyrose CAROL .. you do NOT ever wear out your welcome. We ALL learn from questions and pictures. And this is one I need to learn too! Some days trying to photograph glass, I just have to throw up my hands in the air and lament "it's just toooooo hard!" I've got several pieces that have frustrated me no end...I keep wanting to list them on eBay and just can't get a decent picture of the detail. Hopefully someone will come along and help us. Have you tried filling the jug up with colored water?

  • @ginnyrose
Well gees that is so lovely, but I collect Stretch Glass, glad we have Carma ;o)
    As I am still learning~
    Fran

  • I guess yesterday really tired me out because I just woke up from a marathon 3-hour afternoon nap!

@shellyrae37 SHELLY … I’ve only the one sister. I drove her to the Heart Hospital in Tulsa yesterday where they did an angiogram. After she had that time with the chest pains and I went over and stayed with her several days, she finally saw her regular doctor when he returned from vacation. She since had blood work, EKG, and appointment with a cardiologist and then scheduled for this angiogram. As it turns out everything is just fine and doing great.

@ginnyrose CAROL … what a beautiful color of your candleholders. I’ve never seen that color before. I love stretch glass.

@fyrqueen KATIE … what an absolutely adorable furkid!

@neacenacks MABLE … so sorry, but haven’t a clue on your candlesticks. Very pretty though.

@shanigirl RUTH … I think it’s highly likely it is tarnish black. Try a wee spot with silver polish….do NOT press hard as silver overlay is often quite thin and can be rubbed off. But with just a gently rubbing any silver overlay I’ve ever had responds beautifully to being cleaned up.

@glassusa BOB …. congrats on your finds!

  • Just having a bit of a break
I am giggling here Don @donscns Thanks for the translation on my spanner LOL
Don yes it is hard moving & clearing out Gordon's things. A life time of memories he kept and now what to do with it all. Of course I will keep some but there are other items I will have to decide what to do with them. Old receipts, photos I have no idea of who or where, cards, magazines, travelling brochures etc.
    Kelli @enchantmentglass just absolutely gorgeous
@ginnyrose very pretty and I am sure someone is going to know the maker , but that someone is not me, sorry ? Fostoria?

  • @ginnyrose ... You did a great job of the html. The pictures are fine. Unfortunately, I just have no idea. Pretty as can be but just an area I don't know much about. Hopefully someone will be in soon who can help you.
