It's been a long time since I've been here, but I have a friend who contacted me tonight with a question. She has been given a set of glassware that has a closed handle on the cups. Her question was "Why did they do this and is it uncommon?" I could only find one pattern with a cup like that, but I didn't look too long. My guess it is simply a design decision, but that is just my opinion. The pattern that I found was Radiance by New Martinsville....I'm sure there are others. What is the opinion here....I'm sure that if someone knows it will be this group! ๐ Shanigirl (Ruth)

@fyrqueen You have a beautiful yard! We are still living with melting snow and I hear we are in another storm watch for tonight, it is raining now, but is to turn to snow later! This has been a VERY long winter. I am so ready for a beautiful green lawn like yours. The only good thing about all this late snow is that maybe....maybe it will help relieve the drought here.

@suzy Thanks for commenting on some of my collections. I do so love glass! I look in shops and I want it all! But I really do love the depression era things. I think probably because that is what people were using when I was a child, so it is familiar to me.

I took some pictures the other day of some of the depression glass sets in my glass collection. The Molly and Addie sets I got advice from the people on this board before I started buying them.....I don't know if you remember, but I have a Granddaugther, Addie and a Granddaugther, Molly so these sets are for them.
I only display a place setting or so and the rest are just stored. I have kind of quit buying there is only so much room in a house.

@george Sorry to hear you are going through eye issues. My DH has had 2 detached retinas, one in each eye. He lost the vision in his Right Eye after several different types of surgery to try and save it. One of them was the bubble of gas that is put there to hold the retina in place and after that one he had to lay face down for about 2 weeks. That was certainly a difficult time for him, so I hope you continue to do well. Its good you can spend time on your laptop....make time go faster I am sure.

Thanks everyone. You'll notice there are several Cream and Sugar Sets in the pictures. I have lost count, but I think there are over 100 sets around here. Some are not on display anymore, and some are seasonals that are packed away....is that crazy or not? I think I am getting ready to put a few more of those away or give them away!
@Shelly I love that pretty Marie Osmond doll. -

Hello everyone....I so enjoy stopping in to see what everyone is sharing here. I've gotten a lot of help from people on this board and I wanted to show some pictures of some of my cobalt blue glass that I love to look at. Lots of dusting...but I'm not ready to box it up and never see it.

Hi! Everyone. I was given this beautiful pitcher and 4 glasses. They are hanpainted and parts of the design is gold, the design is raised. The bottoms are smooth and the top of the pitcher has a beautiful ruffle. Anyone know what kind of glass this is, maybe a maker, and an approximate age.

A while back someone posted a link showing how to tell the difference between Chippendale and Starlyte by Indiana Glass. Does anyone remember how to get there? I thought I had it saved, but can't find it.

Gail....You mentioned silver overlay about my creamer and sugar set. I wondered about that. From the outside the detail looks like black paint....but from the inside it looks like silver. I had wondered if it was silver that had tarnished to the point of being black. What do you think?
