Well Good morning everyone! Long time no see. Thought I would stop by real quick and visit with old friends. The real quick part will be a challenge. I barely started scrolling and saw the birthday wishes! Thank you @Julie , @jerseystar/NancyP , @Marson, and @Fran2 .
Even though I have been MIA for quite awhile you took the time to send birthday greetings to someone who quite possibly might not even see them. You all put a big smile on my face. What a great way to start my day. Thank you again.

@Carma48,Thank you. I was hoping you would weigh in on that. You could very well be right about my Bushel Basket.I have went back and forth trying to decide that myself( finally reached the aqua conclusion after finding an aqua opal example) but without a doubt you are more qualified to make that call. Either way I think a Happy Dance is in my future. I paid less than five dollars total for the Bushel Basket AND C F Monroe/ Nakara trinket box!

Julie, Yikes 111 degrees. thankfully that kind of heat is behind us for this year!

Wendy, Thanks .If i ever get back to listing things they should both do well. I haven't listed anything since before we lost our daughter. I really need to clear things out but I dread trying to catch up on all the Ebay changes. UGH!

Hello dear Glassies. I know it's been a while since the last time I checked in, so that made the birthday greetings from Marson, Nancy P, Lainey, George, Gail, Shelly, Julie and Wendy (I hope I didn't miss anyone) extra special and appreciated! Thank you all!

DH took me out to dinner to celebrate at one of my favorite places.I had the tri-tip and it was beyond a doubt, the best piece of beef I have ever had. Then we got together with our girls and their families on Sunday for a joint celebration of my birthday and a gender reveal for DD#4. It's another girl(her third). I thought for sure it was a boy but was secretly hoping for another girl. So that makes grandchild number 8(3 boys and 5 girls).

I have slowed down on my glass shopping. The thrift stores seem to have dried up around here but I did manage to find a couple good finds in the last few months and as you all know... that is all it takes to light that fire again! The first one is a Northwood, aqua(?) carnival glass, 8 sided Bushel Basket. The second piece is a Nakara, C. F. Monroe, trinket box with the original silk lining still intact! I will try to post pictures, in a separate post ( just in case I mess up and lose everything).Everytime I stumble upon a good find while I'm out and about I think back to those first glass discoveries and the road they have lead me down and the wonderful glassies that I have learned so much from!

KATIE DELANO What a peaceful looking picture. That is some driveway!Out here they would call it a road! Then squeeze in a few condos and a strip mall!

CARMA, Yikes! A bobcat in the yard! I'll take your word for it ( from a very long distance) that they won't bother you if you don't bother them. Out here every year at least a few hikers are attacked by mountain lions in the local canyons and surrounding foot hills.

SHELLY, sorry to hear about Betty. Unless you have ever gasped for air you have no idea how frightening that can be.
I saw that you finally took the leap and joined Facebook. I sent you a friend request.

GAIL, Have you been in touch with the American Cancer Society? They are amazing! They will help out in all kinds of ways. They have programs that will provide rides to treatment and if necessary even hotel accommodations for you (and/or a family member), if travel is a obstacle to your treatment.

JULIE, Sorry to hear about your Mum.Your morning meme really hit home this morning.

A year ago today we said Goodbye to our eldest daughter. It still seems like a bad dream but I am 365 days closer to the day I will see her again.

Good Morning everyone
We had some exceptionally gorgeous weather this weekend, even by southern California standards. This winter sure has run the gamut. We actually had several inches of snowfall, on New years eve in some of the valley areas. It stuck around for a couple days and there was enough to break out some sleds. i don't ever remember that happening in these areas before

SHELLY You are silly, of course it will be noticed! Have a safe trip. I'm glad to hear that you convinced DH to go with you.

WENDY, Geeze here you are already starting on next Christmas and I haven't even finished putting away this Christmas? Does it seem to anyone else that the Christmas stuff never seems to fit back in the same places that you kept it before?

GAIL, You and your health team are in my prayers.

Glass question? Does anyone have a timeline for the years that the different green hues were used by Blenko? I bought a pre-designer #68 vase at the thrift store a few weeks back. Only to discover...yikes,
Blenko made a lot of different greens! I know that some were only made during certain years,so if I can narrow it down to the greens used prior to 1946, it would be a big help.

Good Morning everyone.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. For the last 25 plus years we have always spent Christmas at my sister's(the only sibling I have in California) with her family and our five girls and their families. Since our eldest daughter died in March, her husband wasn't sure whether or not he and the three grandkids would be up to the hour and a half drive. Christmas without her was going to be hard enough, I didn't even want to think about what it would feel like without any of them. So you can bet that, I was over the moon when just as we were sitting down to prime rib, he and the kids walked in the front door!Truthfully I was dreading Christmas this year, but in the end it turned out beautiful

Since CARL mentioned movies, that reminds me of a warning that I want to pass along. DH and I were at the market yesterday. They had a Red Box Movie Automated Kiosk, so we stopped to see if there were any movies that we wanted to watch. The man in front of us was returning a movie. Once he left Dh and I were looking at the selection when the disc that had just been returned popped back out of the Kiosk along with an error message. The man was already gone so Dh just redeposited it. About a minute later it ejected it again. He gave it a few more tries with the same results. We didn't want to just leave it there, because we were afraid that someone would take it, so we called the manager over. She tried and had the same results. So she suggested we call the owners of the kiosk, since she wasn't responsible for the kiosk. We tried that and got the dreaded automated system, that just took us in a loop for 10 minutes. Finally Dh gave up and just decided to take it with us and try a different kiosk on the way home. Finally, success! So the warning is ... Wait and make SURE your dvd return has been successfully accepted before you walk away!

CARL, The high today is supposed to be about 54 degrees in the valleys. That's cold by California standards. I can't imagine it only getting up into the teens!!

GAIL, Those breathing issues worrisome. Cold air can make things worse so try to stay indoors. I know I am probably wasting my cyber breath but....try to take it easy and practice saying "No". LOL

JULIE, I like to think of those sort of co-incidences as "hellos" from heaven.

BOB, So glad to hear your furpals are back home with you.

LAINEY, Happy Birthday!

BOB, Your long awaited reunion with your furever friends made me tear up. Hopefully they can be home with you soon.

MARYMEL Glad to see you popping in. I hope your health issues are in the past.

NANCY, We can sure use this rain but I am glad to hear the sun came out for you. Thanks for asking how I was doing. Healthwise I am holding my own and as one of our glassies used to say "mostly upright and vertical" lol

BOB, It's good to see you posting here. I had seen your post on a couple of the FB pages and wondered how you were getting along.

GAIL, I will definitely keep you in my prayers. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now ( i hope it is at least a GLASS Plate LOL). What is a broncoscopy and why do you need it.?

SARA, I hope 2015 brings easier times for you and your husband.

NANCY, Oh that's right, I remember now. You and your DH usually make your way out to the west coast about this time of year. Don't you have family down around San Diego? 😉

SHELLY Thanks for the mention last Monday. It's nice to know that out of sight doesn't always mean, out of mind.

KATIE DELANO, LOL@ night music. I never heard it put that way.

REEN, sorry to hear you are feeling stiff and sore. Before DH had his pain pump put in, one of the few things that would bring him a little bit of relief, was a little heat pack that the Dr suggested. It was made by filling a clean sock with rice and tying it off. You could then heat it in the microwave and concentrate the heat in the exact spot causing the pain.

Good Morning everyone.

DON, Glad your feeling better. Working with little ones you are bound to be catch some of what they are passing around. I don't know if you have tried it but I highly recommend Cold-eeze. Taken at the first sign of a scratchy, sore throat or other symptom of a cold coming on REALLY does stop it in it's tracks! I have COPD and CHF so for years, the slightest cold/respiratory infection usually progressed to the point where I ended up hospitalized at least once every winter.I have never had much luck with any of the mineral/vitamin/supplement cure, kind of thing, but the last two winters have been cold free! You do have to take it at the very first sign of the virus though.

KATIE, Praying for a speedy recovery for your DH. Hopefully the tests will rule out anything serious.

Good Morning everyone.Phew what a full week we have had. I finally have a chance to catch my breath. The last week of October gets us every year. It begins with DD#4s birthday Oct. 25th, Then DGs# birthday Oct.26, then DD#2s birthday Oct. 29, next is DD#5s birthday on the 30th and finally of course, we finish up with Halloween on the 31st. Jerry likes to point out that if you count back nine months you will be able to figure out what he got for his birthday every year. I always tell him"Thank God I discovered the wonder of gift cards!" LOL

GLASS QUESTION, From what I have been able to find, Fenton acquired the mold for this bowl from Dugan. A Google search turns up examples in mainly pink, and green and a soft teal color. However I haven't been able to find much on this amethyst example. The Whitmeyers, Art Glass 1907-1939, says that the amethyst or Wisteria examples may have been made by Dugan before Fenton acquired the mold and that there is no written evidence that Fenton produced this bowl in this color. Does anyone know if any new info has been found? Is it Fenton or is it Dugan?

Good Morning everyone. I was just stopping buy for a quick scroll. I had problems getting on the board last week but I see I wasn't the only one.

I have a question for the glassies. I bought a Victorian, enameled, panel optic, tumbler, at the thrift store yesterday. At first glance ot looks like Rubina, but when held to the light you can see that it is an applied stain. My question is this. Is there a term to described this blended cranberry stain treatment to the top half of the glass?

SHELLY, Good to see you back. So nice that you were able to stretch your break to three weeks.

GAIL, Lucky you! Going to see your grandbabies! You have more than earned this well deserved break!

JULIE, Somehow I don't think that the visual that I get picturing all the Aussie fishermen in thongs is quite what you meant. ROTFLMAO

REEN, Peach cake? I am a sucker for anything with peaches, but that's a new one for me. What type of cake would that be? Like a pineapple upside down cake or more along the lines of an apple spice cake?

KATIE, Thanks for the FB link. I will check into that.

DON, You find the prettiest things. Sorry I can't help with your pitcher, but if you find yourself getting stressed out or frustrated with the search I would be glad to help. Just send it to me. You know what they say...Out of sight, out of mind.

Irene, I hope everything went well with your cataract surgery.

Good Morning everyone.

I really wanted to share this link with all of you. The first time I tried I got the link wrong so I accidentally deleted the whole post trying to fix it, grrrrr. This Jazz singing little girl with start your day with a smile. She is amazing! I spent yesterday afternoon listening to some of her other videos. She will blow you away even if you are not a fan of the genre!

I wanted to say Thank You to those of you who sent prayers and well wishes. I wanted to thank you each individually by name but at this point I can't rely on my memory( the Dr. said that will get better) and I can't get the board to load that far back for me, So I guess a mass Thank You, is the best I can do.You will never know how much they were needed and appreciated. My daughter said that when I came to, I told her that "I think I saw heaven." I don't remember that but I do know that we experienced a miracle that night. The paramedic who responded that night came back to visit me and said that in his 27 years at this job, I was a first for him.He said he could count the number of people that he has seen come back after being gone as long as I was and none of them ever recovered enough to live outside of a nursing home environment. He couldn't believe it when I came to in the ambulance and was able to respond to his questions at all, much less coherently. So Thank You all!

@fyrqueen Congratulations on your anniversary!

Good Morning everyone. It is supposed to be another hot one here today. It topped 100 yesterday and the next few days are supposed to bring more of the same.

@donscn, Wow! Those are some gorgeous table sets!

@reen, Those are awful. The only times I have ever suffered with leg cramps, was when I was expecting my girls. DH would be woken from a sound sleep to find me doing some of those deep breathing exercises and hunched over, trying to reach my legs to massage the cramp out,( which of course wasn't possible because my stomach was in the way). It used to scare the heck out of him. He thought I was in labor and he was going to have to deliver a baby. LOL

Well I guess I should get some of my errands done before the worst of the heat hits.

Good Morning everyone.
I have found a couple goodies at the thrift store lately. One of them was a small, 3 1/2", Daisy and Button with Crossbar, canary stem. It holds less than 2oz. I think it's the cordial. Does anyone know for sure?

@jerseystar27 Very nice booth. I hope your not too sore. I hate to ask...but have to know. Was any glass hurt? LOL

@JimD, I'm clueless. What is a thunder shirt?

@wattleihavenext , and @jmart8248 Yep blond moments..we all have them. LMBO at Julie's story about the ATM because that happened to Jerry and I just the other Day. My youngest totaled her car so she asked us to go to the bank for her. The branch Jerry and I use has only been open about a year so everything is newer (all touchscreen). We pull up in the drive through and around about the third step, it says enter pin number. Jerry says "Where the heck is the touch pad" Well I don't see it either so we figure he did something wrong, so we start over. Same thing again. "Well maybe it is on the next page. Hit next." Nope. Start over again. Then start over again. About that time, I told him "I feel like we are on one of those hidden camera shows." By this time I was only half joking. I look around and I see it! A manual keypad to the right of the touchscreen, but it has a tinted plexiglass hood on it that obscures the numbers from anyone lurking nearby. Oh my goodness. We laughed so hard!

@wjweese Wow, great job on the tree skirts! They a amazing. Especially Big Momma!

@george I thought of you the other day. I was at the thrift store and someone had donated a collection of different colored Geogian tumblers. I almost picked up the 3 best ones(they were only .95 each) but put them back. They were apple green, ruby, and a light blue with the seam going around the hexagon.

@fyrqueen, You are a gutsy lady! There is no way I am getting out of my bed in the middle of the night, to see what that sound is! I can handle a little mouse but... until you open the door, you don't know what it is. If it was anything bigger I would have had to change my jammies! lol

Good Morning everyone.
I think I may have had a genius idea for a DIY ( in five minutes or less) photo box! If it works out I’ll share! Can anyone tell me what type of bulbs I can use in a standard lamp to get the best results in my homemade light box?

WENDY, Have you seen the money people with crochet skills are raking in over on Etsy? I have a friend who made an assortment of these for baby Riley. She finds the patterns free online and whips them up in an hour or two. I keep trying to get her to sell them but she doesn’t have any interest except as gifts for friends.
https://www.etsy.com/search?q=crochet+photo+props&order=most_relevant&ship_to=US&page=2&spelling_accepted=chrochet+photo+props
GAIL, Your friend was blessed to have you in her life. Take a really deep breath and a day off. You have more than earned it.

REEN, I agree with Wendy, That is hilarious. It would definitely draw some attention to JULIE’s booth!

Hello, everyone.

Jerry and I are watching 5 year old Mattie this morning and we decided to go to the thrift store. I told her to get her shoes on and then took another look at her short set and said "Mattie are those clothes or are they your pajamas? She thinks about it for a second and nonchalantly says" Umm.. I think we should just call them clothes. LOL ohh that kid. She had a great time acting as my glass spotter, but was a bit unhappy when we went to pay and I put a controlled bubble, sommerso, bowl back. I explained that Gramma doesn't have enough room for ALL the pretty glass and she replied' I have an idea Gramma...How about you give me your some of your glass then you will have room for more!" Uh Oh ... she's got it young! LOL

KATIE, I AM impressed! I don't remember the last time my dining area looked that nice! I wish I had your and NANCYP's willpower.

LYNN, I love autumn too. It's my favorite time of year! We got to take a trip to Indiana last October just in time for the peak of the Autumn colors. It was so beautiful. I posted so many pictures on Facebook of the trees, that my sister said she felt like she was trapped in a jigsaw puzzle! LOL

GAIL, What is 11Main?

DON, Oh my!

SUZY, JULIE, SHELLY, GEORGE, FRAN2, NANCY P., Katie D., and Wendy Thank you! Your cyber hugs, sympathy, understanding and encouragement help more than you will EVER know!

Jerry and I just got home. My best friend and her husband invited DH and I to join them at the Pala Indian Casino/Resort for a couple days. Jerry and I don't gamble much but thought it would do us good to get away for a couple days. It was a nice change. The highlight was the all you can eat lobster, crab legs, and prime rib buffet! I stuck with the lobster. It was soooo good.

wjweese/Wendy, so far Jerry is really happy with the results of his pain pump. If you suffer from uncontrolled back pain you should ask your doctor if you might be a good candidate for the procedure. Great find on the Dugan vase!

Shelly, I hope the shade fit's. If the measurements are close, it should fit. The shade rings are standardized sizes. I love that style of lamp.

Julie, Have a safe trip and sell, sell and then sell some more!

Nancy P., Good for You! "The point is to get rid of stuff" maybe I should embroider that on my wallet! LOL

Katie D. Congratulations on selling your Royal Ruby.I have a few pieces I have collected to use with my red transferware collection, at Christmas time.

Bob in KY, Hmmm... A farm machinery auction. I have no doubt that you will manage to sniff out some glass. You have that kind of luck! LOL

Good Morning everyone.

GAIL and anyone else who wears glasses. Make sure to pick up a written copy of your eyeglass prescription including pupilary distance. I discovered this great site for glasses. Complete single vision glasses start at $6.95. At those prices you can match every outfit in your closet or just have a backup pair to keep on hand. They have thousands of frames to choose from. I gave up on wearing sunglasses because prescription ones are so expensive and I lose them too easy, but I got a great pair complete with anti glare and scratch guard for under 20 dollars, including shipping! http://www.zennioptical.com/

REEN and IRENE, Thanks little Riley has been a lifeline in many ways.

I did something Sunday that I want to share with my glassie friends. Five months ago yesterday, My life (and my families) was turned upside down by a phone call. The "call" every parent prays they never get. We weren't given many details. Just that our 36 year old daughter had been rushed by ambulance to the hospital and told that we needed to get to the hospital as quick as possible. The hospital was an hour away. When we got there we were told that our beautiful 36 year old daughter (our oldest) had suffered sudden cardiac arrest and was currently on life support. She never regained consciousness and passed away the following evening. Some months before she died she had been diagnosed with an abnormal heart rhythm and underwent an ablation procedure to rectify it. To celebrate that success she used her actual EKG, to design this tattoo and had it placed across her heart. Her sisters and I decided to get the same tattoo (of her heartbeat) in her honor. I had mine placed across my wrist directly above my pulse, so that with every beat of my heart, her heart will beat again. If you would have asked me 6 months ago if i could picture myself with a tattoo, I would have laughed. I miss her so much...

@reen Our local paper used to carry an Ask The Doctor column. Someone wrote in and asked him if he had ever heard of putting a bar of ivory soap, under the bed sheets (at the foot of the bed) to treat night cramps. He politely told them that was a bunch of phooey. A couple weeks later he said that he had been inundated by readers responses, saying that they had tried everything under the sun and finally found relief with this method, so he was changing his stance and for the cost of a fifty cent bar of soap it was worth a try.

Hello Glassies.
I just did a catch up scroll. We just got back from our annual family vacation to Laughlin, Nevada (a small casino town on the banks of the Colorado River) with all our girls and their families. While we were there DH and I celebrated our 31st anniversary. We have been going together every year since they were kids and as they grew up and started their own families they have continued the tradition. We have all been through a really rough time this year, so that time together was appreciated in a new light. During the day we all hang out on the river doing the boating, rafting and jet ski stuff with the kids. That gets them good and tuckered out so that one adult can handle them all and the rest can either hit the jacuzzi or the slot machines. This year we made up a party of 24. Doctors orders meant that I didn't get to do any of the boating or water stuff though. There is one tiny 3/8 inch spot, in the incision from my surgery last May, that still hasn't closed up.

@marymelodee, It was so good to see your post. I have wondered how you were doing. I am so sorry to hear about your sister.

@songbreeze Gail we have similar tastes,I have the same sheep mug, but in amethyst. http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n51/4931nextdoor/HPIM6505.jpg and bought a bread tray in the hummingbird pattern on my trip to Indiana last year. It was ID'ed on the EAPG facebook site and the point was made that it looks nothing like some of the other Hummingbird pieces. If your Hummingbird creamer and my Hummingbird plate really are part of the same pattern, I would say that was an understatement! http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n51/4931nextdoor/HPIM6379.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n51/4931nextdoor/HPIM6382.jpg

Hello everyone. Just stopped by to do a quick scroll. It's that time of year where the grandkids are out of school and Dh and I are the designated sitters. I don't get to stop in as often as I like.

Gail, Oh my goodness! I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. You are an amazing lady. Please keep in mind that you have had two heart attacks already and you have to take care of your own health. You had been doing so much on the EAPG Facebook page and now you have the added stress of this very emotional and traumatic situation. God Bless You.
I can understand your friends reluctance to go to the hospital. The staggering costs of health care is mind boggling. I recently switched over to an HMO because even though medicare covers 80%, that 20 percent can add up in no time. I am SO GLAD that I did. Last month I had a defibrillator implanted, which required a over night stay. It's a good thing I had that sucker, because when I opened the bill I just about keeled over, $194,396.90! It's been a couple weeks since I got the bill, but every once in awhile I pull it out because I still just don't believe my own eyes!

Julie, DD and her 2 girls moved back home with us and she loves reminding me "Remember when you used to say the best thing about being a Gramma was being able to spoil the heck out of them and then send them home? Haha How's that working out for you?" She always was the mouthy one. LOL

Shelly, Isn’t today the Big Day? Good luck with your garage sale. I hope you make lots and lots of money.

Julie, I must have missed something. Are you selling off some glass? What venue are you using?

I stopped by the Pottery Glass and Porcelain discussion board over on Ebay yesterday and the place is a ghost town. When they first shut down the chat boards, the discussion boards seemed to pick up a bit, but I guess it didn’t last long. Now it looks like they are doing away with a discussion board for pottery, glass and porcelain and will host these items under the collectible heading. If they do, I think that will be the final nail in the coffin, for the PGP discussion group remaining there.

Wendy, I can’t believe we are already midway through June! Every year round about November , I find myself asking why I didn’t get a head start on all my Christmas projects? Good for you for actually doing it.

Gail, I am in exactly the same boat! I know I need to do some purging but have no idea where to start. The first thing that I intentionally collected were EAPG cakestands and compotes, but found out pretty fast that those were space hogs. So I switched to pitchers. Those were almost as bad so I tried celery vases, then went on to spooners, then bread trays, then... I gave up, if I liked it fit my budget I bought it.

Good Morning everyone. Well I spent an hour or so messing around with that email fiasco. Without much luck unfortunately. I think this computer is just old and temperamental, I know it couldn't be anything that I am doing. So that's my story and I'm sticking too it! LOL Thanks @katie_delano and @JimD for the suggestions.

@Julie All I can say is that is a very determined group of volunteers running your ZigZag Railway. First a fire put them out of commission and they work months trying to get things up and running again, and then they suffer flood damage, followed by repeated burglaries. They had hoped to reopen midyear but that plan has has been derailed ( I know, I know, I just couldn't help myself lol) They are asking for donations to fund their efforts to reopen hopefully in 2014.

@Shelly, Your historical train fits my budget better too. The one we went on in Indiana was very reasonable also.

Good Morning everyone.Yikes! I got into that email account that I was locked out of and have over 4,000 unread emails! I don't even know where to start cleaning that mess out. I am so tempted to just delete it all with out going through it but I'm afraid I would throw out something important to me. Does anyone know if there is a way to delete all the spam and keep the just ones from specific people, with out going through them one by one?.Thank you @Katie,@Julie@Gail,and @Shelly for acknowledging my post.

@Donscns.....Don, Wow, that looks like something we would enjoy. We took a train ride, http://www.whitewatervalleyrr.org/history.php to see the fall foliage while we visited Indiana this past October. They don't seem to be of the same caliber as the two you posted but they are non-profit and are operated and maintained ( with the exception of one paid office manager) completely by volunteers. DH says it was one of his favorite parts
from our trip

Hello all. Long time, no see. I see a few new faces mixed in with the old familiar ones. I have scrolled the board a few times over the last year or so, but wasn’t able to post because of some password confusion. I know I could have probably reset it somehow but the truth is that, I kept my passwords including the one for my Emails in a little binder that I somehow misplaced. I’m to stubborn to admit defeat though. LOL I did finally manage to sign on a few months ago, after trying dozens of random possibilities, but wouldn’t you know it I was so surprised that it actually let me in that I couldn’t remember what combination actually turned out to be the magic word! Aghhhh So I was cleaning out one of my old purses yesterday and guess what I found!?
