Elaine @chatsworthvintage - I too am listing heavily on Etsy. Listing fee is nice & item stays listed for 4 months if it doesn't sell. My only concern is that is a BIN sales format. PLUS the concept behind Etsy was for the handmade artysy-craftsy merchandise - not vintage merchandise. I was more or less told "to take my sales elsewhere" if I didn't like it when I suggested that they put in a prime category for glass & pottery. Otherwise, I think it is a very neat venue.
I am seriously thinking about starting a Vintage Glass Team for those of us who deal only in the "Vintage" glass market. -
Good morning, glassies.
@chatsworthvintage ELAINE …. Glass is crystal and crystal is glass. Crystal is used to describe colorless glass. What most people mean when trying to determine if something is glass or crystal is what is the lead content…. glass vs. lead crystal. Generally the clarity of the glass and the ring-tone of the glass are clues to a higher lead content. Someone will surely correct me if I am wrong.
You might be wondering why some of the @ signs you use before a name show up in blue and some don’t. Those that show up in blue mean an email is sent to that person (unless they opted out) to let them know someone has mentioned them in a post. Many people have 2 names….the one seen and displayed here in the forum (chatsworth)(oklahomasong_Gail) and the one they use to log-in (chatsworthvintage)(songbreeze). Some people have the same name for both display (reen) and for log-in (reen). To use the @ sign and have the person notified you have to use their log-in name, not their display name. You can find that by clicking on their display name or clicking on their avatar and then looking to the right and it will show up … best to do it in a different window though if you plan to mention more than one person as you will lose what you already wrote in your post!!
I just did a spread sheet with everyones display name and log-in name so I just check it. Glad to send that to anyone who emails me.

@chatsworthvintage There are elements other than uranium salts that react to black/UV light. The reactions are not always green. Unfortunately I do not have a list. george

@chatsworthvintage ELAINE ... I could be waaaay off so wait for someone else to chime in.... but I really think those are brand new candlesticks that I'm seeing frequently in crystal in the malls with just a sticker saying 24% lead crystal, made in U.S.A.

Good Morning everyone, was pouring rain this moring on my way to the pool but sun is shinng atm. Suppose to be rain..sun..rain..sun on and off all day.
re damaged glass I have a couple of pieces of glass in my collection that have repairs. Got them at a reasonable price and had been searching for them for ever and a day, so was happy to add to my collection with repairs. And what about the Lithgow Pottery I sold with 2 big chips Like JimD said its all depends on the item.
@chatsworthvintage Let me add my "Welcome"
Do your 2nd pair of candle holders change to a purplish/blueish colour when put under a flourescent light? Maybe they are neodynium/dichloric (?sp) glass
Gail @songbreeze I will be going with my sister & BIL and another couple.
Shelly @shellyrae37 Good wishes for your FILNow I must get. Miss P is having her morning nap and I need to get the floors cleaned and a few other odd jobs done before she wakes.

@chatsworthvintage ELAINE ... dang great photos! Wish you could come over and teach me how to take pictures! Wow!

@chatsworthvintage ELAINE ... beautiful pair of Cambridge #1595 candlesticks. Page 64 of Felt/Stoer Candlestick Book, Vol I states production date unknown but but probably 1923-1926. It shows a "cobalt blue 1" that looks to be the same color as your sticks,...though they do say it was also made in "bluebell". BV for one is $30-35.

@chatsworthvintage ELAINE ... Gee, don't know why your links didn't work. In the meantime forget using the <a href html and simply put the URL in your post. See if that will work.

Good Morning Glass Board...
I see @chatsworthvintage made it to the board... Elaine is a teammate of mine on Etsy, and she has some gorgeous candlesticks that she had some questions on... So, I sent her here to my "Glassie" friends...
Getting ready to take some pictures on some jewelry and get those listed this afternoon... I finished up my receipts for the Accountant yesterday, so I have that behind me for another year...
If I ever get caught up on the jewelry I have some glass that I need to post to see if anyone can help me out as well... I would take pictures but my photography area is set up for jewelry right now, and if I change it to take pictures for glass it will take too much time to reset for jewelry... I really need a larger area for taking my pictures, but that would mean loosing a curio or two of my cherished "Green Depression Glass"... and we all know how I feel about that... LOL...
Well better get busy... Talk to y'all soon... Jesse

Good afternoon, glassies. Been busy all morning IDing the items I bought yesterday. Taking a break before I start removing the items I sold last month from inventory and adding the purchases I made yesterday. When I get that all finished, I need to do monthly State Tax.
@chatsworthvintage ... Welcome to the Chatroom! Glad you joined us. If you are new to this forum, you will enjoy reading the "How To Manual" located on the tab in the upper right-hand side of the screen. Also to the right-hand column there is Welcome to Glass Chat and How To Post a Picture Link. We look forward to chatting with you.
@reen REEN ... I agree with JimD on some damaged items...thinking of Findlay Onyx which can hardly be found without damage but still way out of my price range. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=onyx+findlay&_sacat=870&_odkw=onyx&_osacat=870&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
