The same Lancaster that made Jubilee depression pattern?
Iām not at all sure, There were several glass factories in Lancaster Ohio, a period of 20 or more years could mean several changes of management. Not my cuppa.
Thanks again, Tom! I looked in my HMW II and it says that the "Jubilee Lancaster" opened in 1908, so I guess it's a possibility they are the same company?----Who here has a Lancaster book?
Welcome Home Gail! Love the g-baby pics! My guess on the cup and saucer is some french company.
Julie and Gail - Not living near the grandkids is hard. Driving back and forth to PA from NC is hard. And, now, (drum role) other DS in FL is expecting! I don't know how I'll manage going back and forth to PA AND FL! If I have to choose between living near one or the other, I'll choose the FL grandbaby - SSoOoo much warmer there šKY Bob - That is a gorgeous basket whoever made it. And that puff jar is swweeet! I posted this link to a guy that does glass repair a couple days ago http://paulmnulton.com/ I know nothing about how much or if he could repair that big chunk, but he was mentioned to me on the chataboutdg forum just a couple days ago. It does say on the website that it's risky doing repairs - the piece could break.
Testing, testing...see if this photobucket link works. If it does, closet potties have any ideas??

Tom - Thank you! I'm glad you set me straight on that hobnail. I see now how the skirt on the bottom of mine is different from Doyle's. I had thought Elson too, because of the pointy hobs and that crimped top, but the little skirt and the vertical lines threw me too. Then I started wondering if it was brand new China junk, but a close look at the high points on the base show lots of wear. It remains a mystery then.
Jefferson Iris aka Iris and Meander?? Never would have looked at that pattern! I don't see an Iris at all, lol. But I do now see the panels are the same.
And the plate is Lancaster. The same Lancaster that made Jubilee depression pattern? Again, I would not have gone looking in that direction.
thanks so much! I don't care if they mayo ever gets id'd, I'm so happy to know the plates!

Morning Glassies ~ Blustery fall day out there today. Just a bit chilly!
Sorry all, for the links that don't work. I don't understand why they don't, as I've done exactly the same here with the same picture host as I did on the ebay chat. Is anyone else here using photobucket? I've emailed Curt to see if he knows why. Sure didn't want to bother him, but I'm just stumped. Uploading one pic at a time on tiny pic, I always get that code wrong and it frustrates me. š
I have a mystery to me. Small plate, about 6 inches. Fleur di lis design around the center.
http://i43.tinypic.com/33m95d0.jpg
And this larger plate, about 10 inches. No marks, lots of base wear. the pattern goes around the outside edge and in the center also. EAPG Thistle?
http://i44.tinypic.com/33bzqcw.jpg
http://i43.tinypic.com/2wdy98j.jpgAnd here is the little hobnail bowl. I posted it here a couple weeks or so ago and nobody commented. I've id'd it as Doyle & Co Hobnail with Thumbprint Base from the Toothpick book, Bredehoft and Stanford, and just want to make sure.
http://i42.tinypic.com/kbytc8.jpg
http://i43.tinypic.com/6xx6k9.jpgAnd wondering if this mayo spoon is id-able?
http://i42.tinypic.com/655t6t.jpgAnd posted pics of my little pink vase on the chataboutdg forum and Ken has described it as "peachblow type" but not attributed to a particular maker. And also, learned there the name of man that does glass repair. Paul Nulton, in Pa. He has a website. http://paulmnulton.com/
Oh! I just discovered how to make the message box bigger! Yay!

I also went to the Slag Glass Museum yesterday only to find a note on the door saying opening day is postponed. But I could see these through the window, nya-uh-uh!
http://i43.tinypic.com/30utye1.jpgI have to run to the PO and that usually means hitting the thrifts after, so be back tonight sometime.

Morning Glassies ~! Got here late and now I'm rushed, but here's my quick drive by scroll and comment -
I have ended up collecting miniatures. Mostly Hagan-Renaker bone china figurines. By default, really. Before I stumbled in here and in Ebay in general, I didn't collect anything. It was a barren life, š . At an estate sale 11 years or so ago, I bought a shadow box and a mess of miniatures (along with a fabulous signed Higgins piece, stickman and all that I promptly sold for a nice profit) and like most things, I bring it home and research them. But I got attached to the little things and it shortly became my only real collection. I have scads of glass around too, but none is a real collection, as in a certain, color, shape, maker, style, or era. I've got everything from EAPG to contemporary art glass. Just certain pieces that some how I just became attached to.
Fran - Feel better soon! Maybe it's just allergies?
Kings Crown always has confused me. It's almost like math to me š
Kelli - What does the stopper go to? Pattern?
Will be popping in later ! -

Hi Glassies ~! Long day today. Stopped in to a antique/junk store, you know, the kind of place where it's dark and dirty and most stuff is junk or broken or ridiculously priced? Actually found a Tiffin Killarney green 17430 vase with a $25 price tag. So, anyone have a ballpark idea of the Ebay value? I always hesitate to spend that much unless I know I can get at least that back and these days you just never know what is a really good vs. average seller. I'm whooped, so will pop back in tomorrow morning and try to catch up with the board from the last day or two.

Morning Glassies ! Brisk Fall morning here. Heard on the news that some folks woke up to about 12 inches of snow! Crazy!
Thank you Don and Fran2! That's the link I thought I had. My issue is resolved now. The neighbor was kind enough to figure out the problem with my wireless router. Some how or another, maybe had something to do with a bunch of windows updates, it had become UNsecure. And then we couldn't find the admin. password and took hours to figure out how to reset that. All is well now.
No Trick or Treat kids here. Phew, I thought I might have to share that bag of Nestle's Crunch Bars!
Shelly - HOLY MOLY! I wonder how many times I passed one of those by! Congratulations! {happy dance!} -

There was a really pretty and friendly 6 mo old that I really liked, but as soon as I picture her in my home, I just think of Marsha and I just can't imagine a new cat in my home - yet. Morning Glassies ~!~! Gorgeous fall day here. Just a little soreness in my legs after that
mountain climbing expeditioneasy to moderate hiking trail. 80 yr old men were going faster than me.I'm "stuck" again after clicking on "mentions". I really like this feature because it's easy to see and reply to those who have mentioned me, but what am I not doing so I can get back to the actual chat?
@oklahomasong-Gail - Yeah, I know how touchy they can be getting to those places. I used to hold Marsha on my lap and sort of nibble away at the touchy places a little at a time. Thanks for the comment on my vase. I hope someone will know it. Happy Birthday and have a wonderful visit with family!
@decoqueen - That's nice coincidence! Have you been in the area yourself?
@wattleihavenext - thank you. I always love your pictures of Aussie Land and it never fails to stir the desire to one day see it for myself. Sorry for not replying last night, but I totally did not see your post at all and swear it appeared mysteriously overnight and that's my story and I'm sticking to it. š
Happy Birthday Marson!
@Shelly - I clicked on my bookmark to go to Chatabout yesterday and now AVG is stopping me from going there too! Never did before.

Oh, Shelly, didn't see you there. Of course you can send it any where you want š Chimney Rock is about 30 miles east and a bit south of Asheville. The first picture is Lake Lure. That's where that scene in that old dancing movie (Patrick Swazey holds so-n-so whats-her-name up over head standing in the water, whats it called, Dirty Dancing?) was filmed. And Hickory Nut Falls is where another part of a movie was filmed. Anyone remember The Last of The Mohicans? Can't remember the scene well now, but that Falls is shown.

Don - Having been a victim of the PP policy of holding payment till I could prove the item had been shipped and received, or 21 days pass, I think this fella has it mixed up. Ebay keeps changing things so fast, maybe it is a new rule for new sellers, maybe?? But, if he's in that "hold He dbl L", as I like to call it, he has to ship regardless of whether he has access to the funds. I think you should ask him to show you where he saw that rule.
This little pink vase followed me home today from the same place as that lamp base. She's been damaged, but I couldn't resist. The glass is pink at the top gradually changing to lighter pink and then almost white at the bottom. Pontil is rough.

Gail - gotta blow dryer? I briefly did dog grooming, and also had my own cockapoo years ago that I groomed myself. They blow dry them with a big industrial type blower and then brush them with a wire brush with wide apart bristles so you can get down into that undercoat. If you don't brush him out, he will get matted.

@bear - Thanks, hadn't thought of DM and that was a good guess, no cigar, š
@wattleihavenext - Isn't that neat, high tea! I want to start talking with an British accent all of a sudden. And my little pinky is suddenly sticking out! It's great your DD likes the old and elegant and can share that interest with you. My kids still think of it as "mom's ebay thing". They think it's cool to buy something for a buck and resell it for $50, but have no interest in the actual things that sell. I did give DGD a vintage 50's toy piano for Christmas last year that I hope will become a family heirloom in her time. But, I also gave this DS a set of Fostoria stemware a few years ago and he and GF got rid of them and replaced them with horrid Walmart stuff!
Shelly - I have AVG and never have a problem with chatabout site pages. I'm sure there's a way to set your AVE so it will "allow" certain sites.
@dave - great idea!
I've also been thinking about adding a link in my listings and me page. I think the ebay rule is that you can't have links to sites that sell, but maybe that's changed again?
I've wondered if it would be proper to add a link in PGP posts over there. What's the etiquette for that?
I think It's a good thing to promote this chat so we can attract other glass people so that we don't get "stale". But we won't be having newbies just popping in here like we had on the old chat - having to register to make a post will surely slow that down. Before, we just hopped around from board to board over there without having to be a member on each. Sadly, we won't be able to have such happy, randomness as we enjoyed there.

@okcoolwheels_Suzy - We think alike! I adopt chipped and cracked pieces all the time. This one I found at a GW many months ago. Just $3. I prefer to find perfect pieces, of course, but if it's old, pretty, unusual, glows, so long as it's CHEAP, it generally comes home with me. I probably have 10 pieces that have some kind of damage to them. I've tried to break myself of this, but no luck, so far. I just see the imperfect piece and think, "oh, what a shame, but I'll take you home and love you just the way you are." The only exception is sick glass. That just makes me mad when I see it, lol.
@oklahomasong_Gail - It's okay...I'm a little cracked too, and I'd want someone to love me anyways too š
