We probably got about 2 inches of snow. But we're supposed to get another 1 to 3 inches tomorrow. It is January, it is supposed to snow in January. {sigh}

@fyrqueen Katie, it's good to see you!! Glad you're making progress on emptying the house -- I hope things continue to improve for you.

@shellyrae37 Shelly, you definitely get more snow than we do. Between December & now January, we have gotten some snow and cold weather. I was just getting used to the snow being gone and now everything is covered again.

It snowed overnight in NJ -- yay! My son came over this morning to shovel us out and clean off the cars. I think about 3 to 4 inches. At least the sun is out now.

They are making good progress on containing the forest fire in the Pine Barrens in southern NJ -- it's now 60% contained, most of the evacuations have been lifted and all of the main roads and highways have been reopened. I read somewhere that it is a case of arson -- someone set a pile of pallets on fire. It's been very dry for a number of months now so they weren't able to do the usual controlled burns that are done in the Pine Barrens in the spring which meant there was a lot of undergrowth, much of it dry. There has been rain off and on since last night, which I'm sure is helping them get control.

Our weather has been up and down, though we may have finally finished with snow. It has been a cooler spring as my forsythia are only just starting to show some yellow and probably won't be in full bloom until sometime next week.

Every day it's been a little bit warmer & thank goodness no wind, so we haven't had to deal with windchill. Today it was in the low 30s. But Sunday it's supposed to be the low 40s. Still fairly cold at night, so even if snow starts to melt, we may wind up with ice.

Spent much of today in NYC -- my son was running in the NYC Marathon. He belongs to a group called Achilles International -- they provide support to runners who have physical or mental disabilities. So my son often trains with a runner who is legally blind -- they use tethers so they can help guide him. Today he was part of a team running with an autistic young man -- their main job was to keep him focused. One of my son's friends was running with a member of their group who uses a handcycle -- she was having troubles with her bike & he had to help push her up hills. The group hired buses to get them to Staten Island (they had to be there by 5:30am). My job was to drive my son & his friend back to my son's car.

Has anyone seen Shelly @shellyrae37 She has not posted in a long time on FB. I have sent her a message and also posted on her Timeline asking if she was OK. No reply

I have been sick with some virus (coughing and headaches) for almost 2 weeks. I think I am over the worst now and hopefully on the road to recovery. I actually had some energy to do a little bit of work around the house this morning.That was after sleeping till almost 10 a.m I rarely get sick and if I do it is usually only a day or 2 . I have not had a cold/flu for years, since before the beginning of the covid pandemic so I am not taking this very well.

I see it is beautiful Betty's heavenly birthday. I still have the lovely Fenton basket she sent me when my DH was very ill. She was such a lovely lady

Shelly @shellyrae37 the weather was perfect over the weekend and yes it was warm enough for a swim. I didn't go in the water though but the kids did. I sat and soaked up the beautiful sunshine and admired the perfectly blue clear sky and crystal clear ocean.

Shelly @shellyrae37 yes Egypt does sound interesting, Actually lots of places around the world look very interesting and there's some great deals at the moment. I have been so tempted to click "book" on a few of them LOL I'll wait till after Xmas, though, to plan where and when I will be going. In the mean time exploring some parts of Australia will do me. There's lots here I haven't seen yet.

Nonetheless, I am a little concerned that JimL hasn't posted in a while and didn't respond to all of our birthday greetings.

Shelly @shellyrae37 3 more weeks and I will be flying out via Singapore to Indian. The excitement is mounting.
I have just tried the Chatabout website and I got this message "This site can’t be reached chataboutdg.com took too long to respond" Maybe ask on the Vintage Glass FB Group, they will probably know what's happening with the site.

Shelly @shellyrae37 I had a lovely few days away camping by the river. It was hot but I had a nice shady tree to sit under and a river to swim in to cool down. The camp ground was very well kept by the managers, truly a beautiful spot and they don't pack everyone in on top of each other. We had lots of room and were well away from everyone. And the beauty of it , it was only 30 minutes drive from home. We thought there was a total fire ban so we didn't take any wood for a camp fire.

It's a warm sunny day here, with clear blue skies. It's Hot but not unbearably hot (26Celsius = 80 F)

I'm enjoying the relatively quiet weather. Feeling a little more like January today, but that's okay.

It's rainy here in NJ, supposed to get windy too. But doesn't look like we'll get ice or snow from this storm.

@shellyrae37 Shelly, oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! Somehow it's always the special ones that get broken. Over the years of having cats and having glass only a 3 or 4 pieces have been broken. But of course at least two were special things that I was able to buy inexpensively. I could probably replace them, but it would cost so much more.

Shelly @shellyrae37 where I live, no we do not get snow. Maybe once or twice a year at the very top of Barrington Mountains,( 200kilomtres from me) they get a little dusting. Further south of me there are snow skiing fields

I too wonder how Jim is doing. I hope he is OK. Not much happens on this chat board these days, so maybe he just doesn't check in as often.

Marson @panishklo Tim Tams do a dark chocolate one, they are good. I usually get the original Tim Tam when I buy them but every now and then I will try one of the newer range. I was feeling in a caramel mood. I love caramel.
