• @newt0n Thanks Jim. Will try to be safe. Don't know if I'll get a chance to check in again before we leave. Soooo....Bye for now.
    Tony

  • Back from the store. Knew I should have gone earlier this morning.

@newt0n Jim, The skies opened up as soon as I got to Giant. Comming down hard now. Maybe 1/2-3/4 inch per hour now.

@songbreeze Gail, I wanted to bid on the Honey Box myself but knew it would go higher than I can afford at this time. Shame. I think that piece is lovely and would just love to have it. OHHH WELLLLL. 😥

    Tony

  • @newt0n Hi Jim..Just a misty Drizzle so far. Just looked out the window. It is starting to pick-up a bit.

  • Good evening Glassies all.

I checked the totals for precipitation at Andrews AFB,(just 6 miles south from my house) to find that we have had a years rain between Irene and Katia to date. No wonder that Upper Marlboro, Md. (The County Seat) is closed due to flooding. None of the roads that go thru the center of town are passable. Good thing most buildings there are not residences. Many roads have washed out and one was undermined to the point of collapse. More rain coming.

Meanwhile, I had a great visit and lunch with @newt0n JimD. Thank you both for welcoming me into your home. Sharing your collections with me and allowing me to (for the first time) see and feel some Crown Tuscan pieces. Photographs in books or posted online just cannot do them justice. Thank you again. It was an education on many levels.

@wattleihavenext Julie, best of luck at your swap meet. Sell bunches and come home with pockets bulging.

@oklahomasong Gail, We didn’t do any treasure hunting but I sure did some treasure seeing. It was all I could do to keep my mouth closed. My jaw just wanted to drop and if it did I would have made a mess drooling.

nancyjean , Thanks for your good wishes. We can all use all of those we can get. Made it.

@okcoolwheels Suzy, looked at lovely bowl but know nothing.

Scott, I too have been sucking up water in my basement three or four times a day. Feel lucky that a 16 gal shop-vac usually does the trick each time.

    Tony

  • @newt0n Jim, Got you in my TomTom. Will give a call when I leave here so you will have some idea of arrival time.

    Tony

  • Good morning Glassies.

Got home late last nite and had no chance to check in till now.
Cool with rain today here in the DC area. Supposed to rain on and off the rest of the week.

    Off to scroll the board.

Might as well join in. LOL I'm 57 and my MIL got me started on glass. She gave my DW a piece of Fortune DG about 10 years ago. During the next few years, DW mistakenly got pieces of Old Cafe and Queen Mary. After some time, I told her to learn what she was buying or I would. My looking and research eventually brought me to the Ebay glass chat room. There my eyes were opened to the world of wonder that is glass. Just like that, a junky was born some 6 years ago. As my eyes were opened, it was Stretch glass and Opalescent Glass that grabbed me. I'm also awed and amassed by the talent of those who made open work glass.

Thank you all for the education you have shared with this still Infant Glassy.

@dbfrogs Fran. When I missed you on Sunday, I was trying to confirm 3 CW pieces my MIL has. Now that I'm home and have my books, I was able to confirm 1. Need to confirm the others. Sorry I have no photos.
#1. 8" plate with centered indent. It has a rased base much like a bowl. Is #400/50 correct. What piece should sit on it.
#2. Number for 8" center heart handled server. My books don't show/describe the heart handles.

@newt0n Jim, how does Thursday sound for a meet.

    Tony

  • @newt0n Jim, Got it out. We can talk more on Monday. Leaving for the country house shortly. Will be back sometime on Monday afternoon.

@scott Scott, What a wonderful collection. Had to wipe the keyboard clean of all the drool. Thanks for sharing.

@wattleihavenext Julie, We have been expecting this for some time. We like the idea but, it still a bit scary. Exited and apprehensive at the same time. Guess that is normal.

OK, I'm off for the WE.....Tony

  • @newt0n Jim, Please check your Ebay e-mail.

    Tony, out the door. BBL

  • @newt0n Jim, Four minutes outside of Friendsville from exit 4 on I-68. I'll keep the shovel and the snow blower.
A part time job to keep me from getting to board. Fishing summers and tinkering with old wind up or weight driven clocks in winter. Plus hunting for glass of course. LOL Can't forget that.

will check back in later.... Tony

  • @newt0n Jim, She is gorgeous. I just love those nekid glass ladies.

@dbfrogs Fran, Lundburg huh. Will try to get that to stick in the sieve that is my mind. Quite right, I didn’t think to ask if it had a pontil.

Went to an antique building/mall in Morgantown WV two week ends ago. The hallways were lined with glass cases filled with Tiffin, Morgantown, Dunbar, Monongah, Paden City and Seneca Glass. By the time I left, I had a new book and they had to clean the cases of drool and finger prints. Or was it my nose that left those marks. LOL DW and MIL had to drag me away.
The only bummer was that I had forgotten my camera in DC.

    Tony

  • @newt0n Jim, you don't have to hide them. The worst I'll do is drool all over them.

    Tony...on my way out. BBL

  • Just doing a quick stop.

@Newt0n Jim. I hope and pray it does not come up the bay. I think I'm ready but don't need that. Still have a few errands to do and a fuel stop just in case.
    Tony Out the door.

  • Good morning Glassies all.
A beautiful breezy day around 90 here with possible T-storms late. Holding my breath and waiting to see what Irene will do.

    @songbreeze Gail, Sure does. 😥

@george Just glad it was not the trans or transfer case. That would be a new 5 year payment. I look at it as less than 2 of those. 😉

@Newt0n Jim, Like the turret idea. 😀 4WD is a must for us. We go to the house in the mountains of western Maryland at least once a month. Winter before last more than 22' of snow fell there. 3-7 feet fall there most winters. Also have family in western Mass and Rutland Vt.

    Tony

  • Good day Glassies.

@newt0n Jim, The earthquake was quite violent here in DC. Only lasted about 15 seconds but my house lifted and the floors rolled. A 5.9 they say, in central Virginia. Most Fed buildings were evacuated till they could be checked out. Just in case. DW spent more than 2 hours waiting for her building to be cleared.

    Tony

  • Good evening Glassies all.

@wattleihavenext Julie, Never mind packing that DDG Cloud Glass up for the swap. Just send it to me.. It will have an honored spot in my display case. LOL I do have an active fantasy life. LMAO Well, so much for my fantasies.

@newt0n JimD, Will have to try to get together one of these days.
@donscns Don, "Opalescent Glass From A-Z" has a page from a 1982 catalog.
On it is a pitcher that I think might be yours. Same shape and reeded handle but the pattern seams fuller...ahh...more of it. If that makes sense. Maybe that will help with time frame. I'm no Fenton expert! Just passing on what these old eyes are seeing HTH

    Tony.

  • @oklahomasong Gail, 😀

@newt0n JimD, Where in Maryland. I'm i PG just inside the DC beltway.

Just can't beat that combination. Coffee and Frogs.

@wattleihavenext Julie, Nice to see you. Been a long time. 😀

    Tony
