Hi guys. I have a wine stem (I think) dating to about the 20's. It's cranberry on a clear stem, very good glass, and engraved on it are the words The Ansonia, below that, a lion rampant standing on another lion (standing in shield), with a banner below that that says Spectemur Agendo (which means "let us be judged by our actions"). The Ansonia, I suspect, refers to the famed historic New York building at the corner of 73 and Broadway, which was comprised of residential apartments, as well as restaurants and tea rooms back in the day. Do you think this might have been swiped from one of the restaurants? I know the glass is good with plenty of lead content, and since the items that came out of that Phila. family's packing barrels were things like Steuben Rosaline (took years to find out what that was) and other glass plates, gold trimmed, with ground bottoms that I always suspected were Steuben as well, but no marks, of course - - plus old silver and so forth. The barrels were stored here in WY at my dad's freight depot, having been sent back in the 30's and storage never having been paid at all. In the 1950s my mom opened them since the warehouse was about to be razed because it had deteriorated. Imagine her shock at the wonderful things inside! Anyway, I'll post a couple of pix and if you can give me any assessment as to possible worth, as well as what type glass it is, I'd appreciate it. The glass stands 4 3/4" tall and across the top is 2 1/2".
