Good morning everyone---I am almost 77 yrs. old and I was reading the Obit's from New Castle, Pa.
and seen that my 1st. grade teacher had died the other day. She taught 1st and 2nd grades in a Sand
Stone building that had 4 classrooms and 8 grades. She also administered a couple of Swats to the
bottom of unruly students with a large wooden paddle. When the kids that were paddled went home
they received additional swats from the parents. Today, the Teachers and Parents would be thrown in Jail.
