George, yes the bowls are stained.. they don't have the ribbon of glass like in Frencesware.
Carl...I don't have Bredehoft’s book, ”Hobbs, Brockunier & Co. Glass”. Looks like I'll have to drop a few hints to my kids as a gift suggestion... Thanks for the explanation on the different bottoms.. It clears up a frustrating search as to what this bowls is.
