It's supposedly starting to warm up again & it's rainy today. Will put my hanging baskets back out and may try potting my new herbs. Because it was so warm last week, the trees really sprouted and it's very green out now. But I'm sure the ground isn't that warm yet, so the usual spring flowers are still slowly coming up.

Hi to everyone that still pops in for a visit here.
I am still not collecting glass or anything for that matter. I am still making very feeble attempts at downsizing But at least I am not adding anything new to what bits and pieces of my collections I have left. I spend a pair bit of time at the gym each day and go away camping as often as I can. Grandkids are growing up (Teenagers now) so I am not needed for babysitting, as often as I use to be.
We are into Autumn now, the mornings and evenings are cool and the days are perfect. It's extremely dry here and we are in great need of rain. Poor farmers.
Time is getting close for me to head off to a Blaizaid camp and help farmers that have been hit by fires or floods, and help rebuild their fences. If everything goes to plan that will be mid May. I am having a problem with a leak in the plumbing and the hot water system of my van, that needs fixing. Hopefully it won't be an expensive fix. Winters coming on and I would like to be able to have a nice hot shower at the end of the day when away camping. But If it is not fixed by the time I am planning on going to BlaizAid, I will still go and get it done when I get back home. It's just a little luxury I will have to do without.
@susu46 I doubt I will get back to USA, especially with what it's like over there at present, with your insane President

Hello, Fellow Glassies,
I know, I know... I have been missing for a long time. I moved back to my childhood home town in KY in 2016. I try to keep busy, but not much going on in a town of about 800 souls.
I am sorry to see that a few members have moved on to a better life since I last dropped in here. I think of them at times and did not know they were no longer with us.
It appears our @Julie has become a world traveler. Have a great time on your trips. If you are ever back in the USA, look me up.

Marson posted an update: Frost on the ground this morning but it's nice outside. […]

Frost on the ground this morning but it's nice outside. Can go out without the winter jackets or puffies. The tulip leaves are sprouting & the rest of the grass is brown but I do see spurts of the daisy leaves on the ground. Sparrows, flickers and robins have been picking at whatever they peck on between the grass blades. Neighbours cat & the wandering neighbourhood cat is joining the hunt. Next door the family has two dogs (yelpers) that go for a "walk" - a young kid riding his bike around and the dogs chase him getting their excercise. The other dog goes with the family on their daily walk. Another one pretends it is being trained but the walker lets it do its' business & doesn't pick up after it. The dogs act according to their training. A moving sale is happening on the weekend. May go to see what's there & what kind of prices will be asked for. Things slowed down at the thrift store. Maybe with the change in weather, people will downsize or go through their closets & check what still fits. After hibernating like bears, we may have a few extra pounds. Have a great & wonderful day. Marson

False summer has ended, we're back to winter.Frost advisory tonight and freeze warning for Monday night. I now have two large hanging basket of frost-sensitive plants sitting in the bathtub -- I couldn't think of anyplace else large enough to hold them. And I have a variety of little plants that just arrived from Burpee on a window sill. The Thai Basil is definitely frost-sensitive as is the pineapple sage. The mint might be okay outside, but I don't want to chance it.

I've been invited to join friends on a trip to Vietnam, cruising the Mekong and visit Cambodia in June and some school friends asked me to join them on a cruise to Moreton Island (4 days) in November. BUT I doubt I will be doing any of those. I am planning on more road trip here in Australia in my van. Plus with all the natural disasters that have been happening here (floods and bushfires) I will be volunteering somewhere to help out the farmers that have been affected by them and are struggling to get fence repairs done to keep their live stock safe. And in the meantime, I will try to save some $$ for next year, for a trip somewhere OS. Vietnam maybe

Tried 3 reasonably level spots and got 20 inches, 22 inches and 19 inches. This on top of the 14-15 inches we already had on the ground. Only saving grace is that it's very light, fluffy snow & easy to move.

George got us all plowed out & I got the Jeep dug out & moved. We've got to get Marsha's car dug out & moved today. Only thing now is the cold. We're at 4 degrees, but the wind is whipping & the windchill is around -12 to -15 below.

Here in northeast NJ we probably got close to a foot of snow. It's still snowing/sleeting. Our son came over a few hours ago to do some preliminary shoveling -- it looks like at least a couple of inches more snow fell since then. Sound like most everything (schools, municipal offices, garbage collection, etc.) will be closed tomorrow. There has been ongoing plowing (small plow following by salting truck just went by). We might actually see a little sun tomorrow afternoon but still very, very cold.

Mahnin' All: It's -12 below & the windchill is running around -20 below. Nice & warm in here though. We're hunkered down & waiting for the snow to start. According to the radar, the leading edge of the snow shield is just about reaching Boston, a couple hundred miles south of us. Depending on the source you check, we're forecast for anywhere from 1 to 2 feet of snow! We've got plenty of food, the oil tank & propane tanks are full & we've got "Jenny" in case the power goes out. So, we'll just ride it out & dig out when it's all over. Hope everyone else in the path of this thing is safe & warm.

@panishklo   Marson, good to see you! I would guess that up your way people know how to deal with snow, wind, and cold. It is very brisk today, will be even colder overnight. Nothing like seeing in the forecast "cold temperatures will result in the risk of frozen pipes tonight". I think we share the same opinion of a certain president. {sigh}

Oh, and the forecast for this coming Sunday is "watching a potential winter storm". We'll see if it lives up to its billing after this past weekend of inch or two Friday into Saturday, Saturday into Sunday, and Sunday into Monday. It wasn't a lot individually but my son came over Saturday & Sunday to shovel the sidewalk & steps and clean the cars and then I had to clean the cars again on Monday.

Shelly - {{hugs}} and sympathy to you - sorry to hear that your sister passed away.
Katie - good to see you back & hope you're feeling better. Getting used to being alone and cooking for one can take some adjusting.
Nancy - nice to know you're keeping the birds well-fed & chirping and probably showing you their antics.
Carl is probably having the type of weather we get here. Quite alot of snow, minus zero temperatures & horribly windy. Highways have been closed, schools & buses cancelled, etc. etc. Miserable to be out there and the people living on the streets (we've started giving them all kinds of names) homeless/unsheltered/unhoused - are having a hard time out there.
Julie - keeping busy as usual? The weather there has been much warmer than what we have but I'm sure it gets too hot for comfort as well.

Did my stint at the thrift store. It's still cold out there, so winter boots, jacket/coat, with a hood or hat, scarf & mitts - gets you from the house to the car. Then sunglasses because of the glare of the sun on the snow. But that's a huge part of Canada that a certain president wants to take-over. Other then that, it's a Good Day and may the glassies enjoy it. Marson

Hello ALL, Thank you all for your condolences, I am sure going to miss my sister.. But she has suffered much too long..I know she is now at peace and not struggling any more; and she is with Our Mom,

Thanks again, NANCY for keeping in touch.. The Sun is out today, but still snow on the ground.
It was suppose to get down to 17^ last night, but back up to 34 today, so we shall we see.. Still not warm enough for my blood. Even June is Cold here for me.. July is warmer and just when It warm up, it starts cooling down .again. I think our State is one of the safer weather wise; but If we could have a weather pattern change here, I would appreciate it more.

Katey I am sure everyone would be happy for you to continue sticking around here for a long time, including when you move further south.. Have you figured out what you are going to do living wise, when you finally decide to move? are you putting the house up for sale?
Than you can give me some guide lines for selling mine, if it comes down to that.. Terry is not doing so well, I constantly check on him in the morning to make sure he si still breathing. There are some changes I want to make to the house before I sell Ours, that he has not agreed to yet.. Ours is a very old house, with a dirt floor basement, I want to have cement poured there, and a new kitchen; but maybe I should let the new owners decide on that and give them, money to do it with.. With in Limits..

Wishing you all Sunshine, and a cool breeze.

Well, our "less than 1 inch" of snow has turned into 1 to 3 inches -- it's coming down fairly hard but only supposed to last another hour or so. I was hoping to run into town to run some errands, but that may have to wait. Glad I got the birdfeeders filled yesterday -- though our resident buck (Sir Reginald or Reggie) was scarfing down the bird seed this morning.

HELLO EVERY GLASSIE, Thank you NANCY for the Message.. I too am still getting around, but not real fast, for sure.

KATIE, Good to see you checking in, just so we can keep tabs on you.. Glad you are keeping busy.. and it sounds like you are making headway with the house.. Are you going to sell your home, or ? Nice of you to help others.. So Come on Down.. I surely need help too.. (:?)
My Sister passed last night, after suffering if Stage 4 COPD, for about 5 yrs.. She passed in Fl. ahe will be creamated there and then when BIL is able to handle the drive he will bring her home.. His Son & Daughter are with him right now.. So he is not alone.. Than he has a house full up here in PA. to take care of not sure how he will manage that or what he sees for his future.. I suppose Terry & I will have the same dilemma, when one of us pass.
I have so much to do, to prepare for that scenario.. where to start? I still have one son here, and two down south, Such a burden to put on anyone person..

Well we too have had quite a bit of snow.. I hate even going out of the house. Still thinking of having Walmart delivery service for Groceries, but have not taken that leap yet.. How long can we get along without the staples for every day living?
WOW reading all the extremes in weather conditions, I guess we are in between here in Pa. It is 34*, We have no one who comes to clear our cars or driveway/sidewalk.. Tho Terry has an able son who lives close by, we might see him, once a year.. No not a thoughtful son.. He sure enjoys the Money we send out at Christmas..He has a good job, but like most he has places for that to go..

We have had a couple feet of snow, thus far, but it all melted and now another snow storm and most of it is back..

MARSON, nice that a Gentleman stopped by, wishing we had someone around here stop by.. Yep, Our nearby time, will let you know if you shovel snow onto their streets.. We live on a country road, several acres between houses So not profitable for Shovelers.. Thank You too for the Birthday Wishes..

Thank you FRAN for the BD wishes.. Pray your doing well..

JULIE, sounds like you had a Great Holiday Get together on your camping trip and at your Daughters.. Glad you got a little break in the heat wave.. Wow Brown Grass, we get a little of that but not too bad this past summer as it rained quite often..

OH CARL, that Cold weather is in extreme, we get some cold, but usually just in the low Degrees, very seldom hit Zero.. Lucky us huh? We do not get the extreme heat either, Might hit 90* rarely, past 92* I am always cold here even when its 70* I doubt I could tolerate Minus Degrees.. or anyplace where it got above 100*... I am not sure how people acclimate themselves to living in those areas..

NANCY, Did you get any of that brutal weather that blew in from the West? Yep we did, I thought for sure some of the shingles were going to blow off the house.. Our new metal roof seems to be holding up well.. Nice you have a son that helps take care of you.. I cannot blame my sons for moving south.. I would go too, if Terry would but not sure why he wants to stay here since his Parents are both gone, as mine are, and he hardly sees his brother more then 2 or 3 times a year.. OH well, I am destined to die where I was born..

Praying I did not miss anyone, and you all have a great New Year.. and Don't forget to Pray for World Peace.. Hopefully our President does not rain war down on our Country, by some of his crazy ideas..

Good morning .
Just one more day to survive the heat wave we are having and tomorrow's temps are predicted to drop. At 10 a.m this morning it has already reached 39C (102F) When I opened my front door, to go out and sit on my verandah, to enjoy my morning cuppa, the wind made it feel like I was walking into a fan forced oven. I did endure it because I really needed to get some "fresh" air and some daylight rays because the rest of my day will be spent indoors, with all windows and door shut to try to keep out the hot wind and heat . The problem with spending so much time indoors, is I spend too much time on the computer and on FB. FB is very depressing atm. The madness and the hate that gets circulated around, certainly isn't good for anyone's mental health. On some of my FB friends, I have actually been using the "snooze for 30 days" option or blocking them from being able to comment on my Posts. I might just delete some all together .

I had a fabulous Xmas with family and friends at my daughters home. We enjoyed the perfect weather and temps. So very pleasant and not our typical HOT I also had 3 days away camping in my van at a lovely country town, with some friends, where we saw the old year out and the new year in.And again the weather was very kind to us. Beautiful warm sunny days but nowhere near as hot as we usually get. Now it's time to get back to a normal routine, healthy eating and regular exercise..

@wattleihavenext Julie, the weather sure has a mind of its own. We're waiting for an actual snowstorm -- they are saying 5 to 9 inches of snow starting around 4pm today and going through Saturday morning. Just back from a run through the food store (not hard to find a parking spot but by the time I left they were running out of shopping carts). So after my 1:30pm pedicure, I'll be set to just curl up in the house.

I've had a lovely couple of days celebrating Xmas with family and friends. It's Boxing Day now and I am just lazing around the house after coming home and doing the usual work of unpacking my van and cleaning.
I can't believe how cold it is today. it's 13Celsius. I'm watching TV snuggled under blankets.Ive read where some of my friends have their heaters on. And it is snowing down in Tasmania.
