Good morning Glassies !

I am doing better. And a better mood since i have bids on 3 out of five of my listings! No glass, alas. Paid a Quarter a piece for flatware at the GW i found a couple years ago and already opening bids add up to $176, so I'm happy and anticipating xtra cash for car repair! I did have a nice Fenton (early Aqua Crest Ewer, w/Charleton Roses) piece also, to sell for my daughter, till it turned out there was a crack where the handle was applied.

Shelly - Hospital? Your better now, too? Home and busy again? And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
Julie - HUGS! 6 years. Can't believe it's been that long. ((more hugs!))) Its so good to see you too! What are Pop-Tarts - back in the "old days", that would have been when Dave/baylove popped in with a funny gif, like a hairy-legged toaster treat with false teeth and maybe a jar vegemite beside it.
Bob - Gosh, you've been in hospital too? Many hugs and healing thoughts for you my friend as well!
George - Hi ya! Good to see you upright and ventilating!
Nancy - Hugs! Hows Joisey? Kayaking still?
Marson - Dear! Does my heart good to see ya!

8/31/14 10:20am, the world welcomed 9lb 9 and 1/2oz Chloe Isabella! Promptly nicknamed CoCo by her 4 1/2 yr old big sister, who subsequently was terribly upset that mom and dad were actually bringing her home with them from the hospital!

All but one box of stuff has now been consigned to local shops. An unexpected bonus of the bad deal with the auctioneer has led to neighbors buying the things from me directly, putting cash ($400) directly in my pocket! Just word of mouth! So all's well that ends well! Thanks ALL for YOUR commiserating and cyber-hand-holding!

Jesse!! Hi there!!

Susy - Yay! She's safe and sound! And a lovely little spot you found for her, cuz I know you don't have many spots! I'm so glad she's found a good home amongst such beauties! I dub you, STOS (StackingRoomOnlySusy!)

Morning Glassies !
Down to the wire, 2 weeks to end of the 30 day notice, but I really thought I'd be out TODAY! It's Due Day for #3 GD in PA, mom is ready to go any day. But that awesome auction deal? 25%? Turned out, fine print details (eBay PayPal fees) added in later on the contract made it much less awesome! Had to have a civil disagreement with the young man which resulted in ALL my stuff being returned, thank the stars. But I've scrambled for the past week finding local consignment alternatives, hauling boxes in and out of my car, wrapping and unwrapping, reboxing, more sorting, phone calls, stressing. 50/50 rate doesn't make me jump for joy, but at least I'm not being bamboozled.

Bob/USA - been awhile since I did any shipping, but my rural carrier never scanned picked up boxes, and even some clerks in the PO, I had to ask them to...nicely.

Sorry, no time for a proper read of the board.

Still a couple more boxes to consign and hopefully back on track to be out a week from today.

Good Morning Glassies! Made it about half way through the glass inventory yesterday, must finish up today. Three plastic bins of linens - I think I can only count how many tableclothes, etc, and call it done.

MARson - lovely to see you too! Yes, it is a chore, moving. DS in FL, upon hearing I'd finally made the decision to move home to PA, knowing how much I don't love the snow and cold and the depressing little home town, blithely says, "Well, you can move south again later, Mom." I just nodded and smiled and said that would be nice, son...but, sheese! pushing 60 now, and this moving stuff, really, it doesn't get easier as one gets older, ha! I hope all is well for you up in your neck of the woods 🙂

Now, I'm working with a handicap - keys missing on my keyboard R and W and the BACKSPACE, and my inevitable typing errors, so it takes me ages to get a proper message typed, unless those two letters aren't needed and i make no errors at all (hah!)
Local auction fella came by yesterday to look at my stuff and surprised me by saying he'd take the majority of it and put it on ebay! 25% cut only. Pretty fair deal since it gets it out of my sight, I don't have to deal with the ebay end of it myself. Only thing I was iffy about is some folks selling glass on ebay, that really don't know about glass, make mistakes like omissions in descriptions, fuzzy pictures, leaving out dimensions, no pictures of the base, etc. so, he was willing to let me do some descriptions, make the attributions, save him the research. He naturally feels he'd have to double check my attributions, he doesn't of course realize I'm a Glassie (LOL)! I'm willing to do it, happy to really, to speed things along. Since he runs a brick and mortar shop, real estate auctions, and local auction house as well as onside auctions, we've agreed on four months time frame, 11/1 deadline for getting my stuff ebayed. Good to be closed to Christmas season. There'll be a written contract and a detailed inventory of each piece.
Never done anything like this before - can I ask a glassie's opinion?

JULIE! So good to see you! (Waving back wildly!!) Sad to hear your Uncle has passed, my condolences ((hugs)).

Alicia - And so nice to see you too! Your vacation sounds lovely! And surgery last May? Still recovering?? Yikes!

Wendy - We maybe not have "met" officially here before, but maybe on some ebay chat? "wjweese" seems familiar to me. Yes, that's by "Boo", somewhat blind 7 yr old persian rescue. His registered name is Tallyson but he's not as pretentious as that, so I've dubbed him Boo, His Boo-ness, Boo-duh, Mr Boo, BooBoo, My Boo Boo Lah...I wuv 'im 🙂 Any "good eye" I have, I learned in large part from the Glassies right here

Bob in KY - How the heck are you neighbor? And BIN? Found any nice cake stands lately?? No spare green stuff around here! Be happy if I found a shoe box full of 20 's tho! I'd stop by on my way north and take you and BIN out to lunch! Mini Glassie Gathering!

Shelly - Dear! No glass elephants, just mini hagen renakers in my accidental collection. When I get settled, you'll have to come visit!

Don - That FB link looks like a place I could get lost in! Nothing would please me more than to get lost and forget all about this moving but must not ... get ... side tr... acked...I think I'm ADHD!

Lynn M - Hi to you too! Thanks for lovin' Boo 😉 and my name 😉

Hi Sharon! I know it won't go smooth, I count on it, so no surprises at at least, right?

Kids can't help, friends all disappear when they know there might be heavy lifting involved, hah! 13 years of Schtuff and making decisions on what to keep/discard/sell/donate/consign/toss is not never, ever NO way fun for me. Only my glassie friends can truly appreciate the full dilemma I face 🙂

Suzie - Nice to see you! Do I remember rightly you have a soft spot for damaged pieces that still have character?

Gail - Thanks for looking at the vase. I hope it's commanding presence, at 20" tall, that the auctioneer coming monday will deem it worthy of his time and talent even if it's an unknown. I have another one, EAPG -ish, I'll try and post tomorrow and would surely value your opinion.

My sister's MRI showed plaque on her brain back in January. I'd seen a change in her over the last couple years, but it seemed she was having more psychological issues - like panic or anxiety attacks - but a visit in May made it quite clear
there's memory loss. Quite different from how my mother was in the early onset of the disease. She'd just forget things and laugh it off, but my sister, I think knew what was happening to her and was basically scared and trying to hide it and hide from it. She's still early stage now and she knows what's happening to her.

I must get to bed and try again tomorrow to get done everything I didn't get done today. Spinning wheels day!

Glassies! I see GLASSIES!
7 months late, many late thanks for the lovely birthday wishes!
Yes, I'm still alive, no excuses for not being in touch or dropping in. Would love to say I've been busy, or fell in love and/or moved to Jamaica and can now wear a 2 piece bikini and have to beat the men off with a stick, but no, just ordinary life and suddenly a couple years have gone by.

Moving home to PA. My sister, 72, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and I have to go home and soak up the good time left with her. And, so, going thru stuff - you know all my stuff is glass stuff - and gads, it's slow going.
Anybody want this little piece? Pay for the shipping and it's yours. (hope I can still do links to photos right!)

Came down with a bad cold this past week and have been ucky for days but here to report the uninsured vase arrived safely, according to the USPS tracking, and apparently safely since I've not heard from the winner. Logging in today seeing all the mentions after my last post, --------Thank you all! Of course, No feedback from the buyer, don't expect they'll leave any. Heard from an under-bidder this morning who also belongs to the Facebook group where Nancy posted it had been unpaid, and he was hoping he could get a second chance offer. Wish I had a couple more of those vases!

26 acts of kindness. Can't even bear to think of those precious babies and how their families must feel.

I have no defense, lol) and in my rush, I forgot to add insurance!! I double boxed and bubble wrapped the heck out of it, but I'll be having little panic attacks for the next few days anyways.
A week today and still no payment from the Katydid winner. I have my ebay settings set to start an automatic unpaid item report in 4 days if no payment - and apparently that didn't happen so - grrrrr - I have to do it manually today and then wait 4 more days for them to pay. Then I can relist. A costly delay. I need the Christmas money!

Bob in KY - Thank You! I didn't see your bid, I figured BIN talked you out of it , LOL, 🙂

Gail Mac - I won that CW in an ebay lot of three unrelated pieces of glass. Can't remember the details now but the CW
wasn't the main reason I bid! It wasn't till I got it in hand and measured it, and brought it here for confirmation (Bob/glassusa and Fran/dbfrogs both helped) that I knew it was special. And it was also a little miracle that it didn't break in transit, just crammed in a little box with the other pieces. It was almost pure luck from start to finish. Blind pig/acorn story ,lol.

Now, to get through my whole obsessive packing ordeal and await payment!

Bob in KY - Still wondering where you'll be displaying your lovely new cake stand? Building a second bathroom?? 😉

Shelly - Nope, just moving across town to a new 55+ senior complex. My place here has gone downhill since I moved in 8 years ago.

I had trouble with ebay's search a couple days ago. They changed things again!

Gorgeous day blooming here! Low humidity, gentle breezes, clear blue sky.

Don - haha, as I recall, 😉 someone brought a leash for Dave expecting...who knew what! But turned out he was much tamer in person 🙂 The sweetest, nicest guy you could imagine. In our limited time in CA, each wanted to go somewhere, see some particular site or attraction . One group wanted to go to Disneyland, or was that the Catalina Island trip? (I wanted to just get my toes wet in the Pacific Ocean), and the one thing Dave wanted to do was see Huntington Gardens. When some of us learned all there was to see there, including a display of EAPG, it didn't take much to get a bunch of us interested. And Dave, it turned out, was our personal tour guide extraordinaire. Through each garden he led us through, he named each plant - like the common name, the multi- syllable latin name, sometimes alternate names, any medicinal qualities, where it commonly grew, etc. It was all fascinating. The Japanese garden was my favorite.

Gail, yes! That's the plus side of this long, drawn out moving experience, lol. I've moseyed along at my own sedentary pace packing a few things now and then, hauling a few things at a time. Practically all that is left is a bed, dresser, 2 chairs, kitchen table and desk, plus basic kitchen stuff and clothing.

Morning Glassies ~! Still not moved! But unless some new catastrophe befalls, I will finally be in next friday, the 14th. Meanwhile, the complex has allowed me to move stuff into the storage unit ahead of time. I've filled two storage cages with stuff. Stuff that has no purpose in everyday life. Every bit of it I have some emotional attachment to or have assigned cash value to waiting for the market to come back, lol. Nearly a storage cage more of purpose-less stuff has gone to thrift store or local auction. It amazes me how much stuff amassed over 8 years here when I literally moved in with only about 1 carload of belongings.

Here's a funny thing I came across while browsing auctionzip local auctions. A picture of a NW Louis VI custard glass berry bowl - caption? "CUSTER glass"!

And got nostalgic this morning when I stumbled on this Yahoo article. A few Glassies here might recognize this picture right away.

Bob in KY - When I got into Win 7, Windows Live Photo Gallery was the best thing about it, imo. It took me awhile to figure out how to resize: look to top, just left of "auto adjust", when you're in the editing part of the program and you'll see "properties". Click on that and you'll see "resize", 2nd down.
