Hi you all! Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! 🙂

Julie, I love the card! We lost our Sassy (our little dachsie) in April of 2013 - and Sadie (our choc lab) in June of the same year. They were such precious members of our family, and not a day goes by that I don't think of them both. Last year we adopted two little Corgi sisters and they are now running our household. This photo is from when they first came home with us:

Shelly, our youngest daughter is due with her first, any minute/hour/day now. LOL. We are on high alert, and since she and her husband live here, we will get to be present - if not in the delivery room, then right outside. AND this is one grandbaby I'll get to babysit! The others all live back in Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

I'm excited, if you can't tell 😀

Doing more than glass, but still seem to gravitate to it. 🙂 Also still doing the graphic art business, and husband working fulltime at his counseling practice.

A new grandbaby literally on his way too - daughter is in pre-labor, she could go any time - so on pins and needles. Matthew will make #8, and we also have 2 great grandsons. Life is just too short, and goes too fast!

Wow! Many thanks for all the nice birthday greetings, and that famous slice of cake! 🙂 Thanks!

It has been a busy few months, with both my job and Jerry's job taking new directions. Glass selling has kind of languished, while we got more involved with job stuff. Also spent an extra long vacation in Indianapolis over the Christmas holiday, lol - it wasn't planned, but blizzards don't really care about your plans! HA! Always a good reminder about who is really in charge. It sure isn't us! But we sure enjoyed the extra time with our sons, daughter in law, and grands. They can, however, KEEP the snow!

I hope everyone here is well and happy. Let's make 2013 the best so far!

Carl, glad you found the rescheduling feature. Wish I'd seen your post earlier today, would have saved you a lot of trouble, lol - I use that feature most weeks. I list when I have time, then reschedule everything once I decide when to start them. It's one of the few things on eBay that seems to work consistently. Sshhhh, don't say it too loud, eBay techs will hear us and decide to "tweak" it!

Hi to Shelly, Helen and Suzy, and Reen - hope you're getting a doc to take a look at you.

Hi Glassies one and all!

Been a long time since I stopped in, hope everyone is doing well?

Julie, glad to hear you're happy with your sales at the big flea market. Sorry to hear about the crowds getting thinner everywhere though. A sign of the times for sure.

About 5 years ago a couple of our larger consignment malls closed up shop, and I really thought it was the end for folks like us - but in the last 2 years they have reopened with new owners, and other smaller shops have opened up as well. I think it's more that people aren't shopping on eBay for treasures as much as they are locally. To everything, there is a season, and all that.

BUT - we still get out there and buy. Of course. Once it's in your blood, you can't NOT go at least look, lol.

Here's a piece that Jerry found last weekend, that I just got a few photos of. We're thinking German or Czech, but totally not sure. It's 13" in diameter and 4.625" deep. Cased white on the bottom, clear on the top, with enamel decoration on the inside. Faded gold decoration on the bottom, ground pontil. Glows like crazy under UV light. Any ideas, anyone?

Hi everyone - long time no see!

I hope this finds everyone well. 🙂 Our glass adventures continue, but on a smaller scale. My graphics business is busier than it's been in years, for some weird reason, and my husband is busy with his business that he started April of 2011, so our glass hunting/selling has taken a back seat. Maybe it's just because we're getting older, but we aren't rushing around as much as we used to, lol.

We still go to estate sales every week of course, once that's in your blood it's hard to quit! HA! But we don't spend as much, and are selling a lot of the less expensive things at local auction instead of eBay. Less hassle, and actually better realized profit on so many of the things that used to do gangbusters on eBay - but don't any longer. When I take into consideration not having to spend on packing materials, "free" shipping, ebay fees, PayPal fees, and dealing with people who want to offer 1/100th of an item's value - it's a nobrainer for us. We're lucky to have a reputable auction house here we can use.

Thanks to Don and Suzy who emailed recently, sorry I haven't checked in for so long. Here's hoping you all are still having fun collecting and selling, and learning about glass!

And to all the Oklahoma Glassies - I know some of you are Potties too. Does the name Roger Corsaw ring a bell? He apparently taught ceramics at University of Ok since the mid 1930s and died in 2004. He worked under John Frank (the guy who started Frankoma) and did some nice pottery himself - he has pieces in the Smithsonian. We found a nice vase by him, from his "early years". I posted on the PGP Board and got a couple of responses but info on his work is pretty much non-existent.

@songbreeze - here's that pitcher I was talking about. It's only about 7" tall, and the more I look at it the more I think Jenkins or something. The glass quality isn't that nice, but the etching is, lol. And it's kind of squarish shaped, like a fridge pitcher maybe. 40's, 50s latest.

Please don't bother looking for it in books, I am not planning on listing it, just was curious if you have seen one before. And excuse my photos, they are awful.

As soon as Jerry brought it home, I knew I had to give it a bath, take pics, and then pack it up so I wouldn't be tempted. We've had a few pieces of Queens over the years, and I can only bring myself to keep the pieces that aren't perfect - the good ones sell for way too much for me to keep, lol. I like things that I don't have to be afraid of displaying or using. Too many grandkids in and out of the house, it's not worth worrying about things getting broken and someone feeling bad.

@songbreeze – Gail, I have had photo sessions like that too. There are fewer and fewer pieces I’m willing to fiddle with photos on, they have to be really worth the time and effort these days. So much easier and actually more profitable a lot of the time to take them to local live auction. Gotta change with the times.

Was sad to read about Boyd, and I also wonder if Mosser can hang on much longer. Such a shame, but ”to everything there is a season”…. and I’m glad I got to enjoy all this beautiful sparkly stuff during my lifetime. I hope I’ve instilled an appreciation of it in my kids and grandkids (who all get pieces of ours they’ve admired over the years as gifts).

Here's a link to their camera, and also one to their website so you can get the backstory.

The other day when I brought this home, the first thing I did was look at eBay and search "Fenton Feather", since that's what the design looks like to me. I got ZERO results, in current and completed. Made me think I was going to have to ask here, and it turns out it had to have been one of those days when their search engine was screwed up. This afternoon of course I find a gazillion "Fenton Feather" pieces on ebay. Murphy's Law!

Gail, ugh, I don't know - I usually just work with people who pull that on me, and so far I've only had one not pay after promising to do so. It was years ago though, so I don't remember how I handled it. Probably lost my FVF. Hopefully someone with more recent experience will know.

We found a large Fenton vase, but in searching google I don't see this particular one - does anyone recognize this sapphire blue vase with a "feather" or plume design on the sides - 9.75" tall, 7.5" wide? Has the oval Fenton trademark and "9" below that.

That tall vase you posted photos of is American Brilliant Period glass, but could be from one of ever so many makers. Look closely for an acid-etched mark, but remember that more pieces were unmarked than were marked, from that era.
