@carma Carl, while there have been some very infrequent sightings of bear in our area, the main marauders at my feeders are the squirrels (they are little acrobats and contortionists!) and the deer. I have come out several times to find the deer happily licking seed out of the tube feeders. I did have to contend with a ground hog that one time managed to shove the large rock off the lid of the bird seed container and flipped the lid off. I caught him another time trying to move the rock, but haven't seen him in a while. (And we live in a small suburban city that is about 15 miles from New York City -- other side of the Hudson River -- so it's not like we live in the country.)
