JimL The benefits of self employment tax. When a daughter went to college some loans were needed. I was self employed and the tax returns showed the full FICA payment. The school account/loan counselor disallowed the FICA said it was a voluntary contribution and therefore could be used to pay tuition. He finally called the school auditor and was straightened out.
