Hi Glassies! This lurker wanted to make a delayed response to Carma's post about getting a generator.
Last summer we decided to take the plunge even tho Georgia has nowhere near the weather extremes that Maine faces. Like many, we're facing declining health as we get older & we have 9 inside cats that would have to be left behind if we had to go to a motel due to loss of power. Although our Generac cost in the neighborhood of $8K, it included installation, clean up & the connection to electric & propane. It's been worth every penny. The monthly automatic test uses nearly no propane & when we had a 36 hr. power outage a month or so ago the generator was flawless. I woke up briefly when the generator came on & then for the entire duration of the outage we had heat, lights, TV & all other functions operating without a hitch. We've decided it was one of the best investments we've made in recent years.
Just wanted to put in my 2 cents worth since we took the plunge.
