From what I have been reading about Windows 10 -- if you have Windows 7 and are happy, stay with it. If you have Windows 8 or 8.1 and are not happy, upgrade to Windows 10 as it does have some of the missing features from Windows 7 (e.g., the Start menu). It's supposed to have advanced security features.
@donscns Don, I still love WindowsXP but gave it up when I bought my new laptop. Windows 7 is actually not too different from XP and once I got used to it on my desktop, I found myself occasionally looking for some of the 7 features on my XP laptop. (As one of the articles I recently saw explained, every other Windows was good -- Windows 98, Windows XP, and Windows 7. Remains to be seen what happens with 10.
I'm not fond of Windows 8.1 and would only recommend it if someone has a touchscreen. I will eventually upgrade the laptop to Windows 10 but I'm not touching Windows 7 on the desktop.
