Julie--The cream and sugar strikes me as older than Arcoroc, but I don't know. I guess I'm sticking it in the mall for $10. Pretty sure I still have that other identical one at closer to $20. But I have 3 malls.

Shelly--There are several differences in the Federal bowls. The ribbing is slightly narrower, the base is closer to a perfect square without the cut off corners, and the top of the ribs is a straight line vs the scalloped effect on the Hocking bowls.
Doctors love it when you request a change in treatment due to something you saw on TV. LOL Prilosec isn't really meant to be taken for long periods of time though. It will cause a severe vitamin B12 deficiency in addition to the kidney trouble. The stuff does wonders for me, but I've never taken it more than 2 weeks at a time, which is in the instructions on the OTC version.

Check out this minor (but funny) tale of woe. My local thrift store had a sign saying "Buy one item of glassware and get 50% off the second piece of glassware." So I found this green depression mixing bowl and blue opal cream and sugar, marked $4.49 ea.

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/u4yk5dkes3mkq19/DSC00643.JPG?dl=0

When I pointed out to the cashier that one should be 50% off, she said "Oh, that's only on glassware." So I start banging on the stuff and say "Well, what are these?" She explains that "glassware" means something that you can drink out of, like tumblers or stemware. Then she calls up a manager who tells me the same thing. I said "Well, I thought I've been a dealer of glassware for the last 20 years, but I guess I've had it all wrong." I bought both at full price, but it does kind of stick in my craw. By the way, anybody know what the cream and sugar really is? I think I've had one of the same for years, yet now I've bought another one.

Bob--My laptop won't charge until it drops below 96%. I leave mine plugged in except when I take it downstairs to print something. If I unplug it for 5 or 10 minutes it will say 98 or 99% and not charging. You should run it down to 6% at least once every few months according to my manual, but you don't have to run it down every time.
My last laptop got to where it wouldn't charge past 98%, then 97%, and it kept creeping down to where it would only take 90%. I bought a new battery, but I really don't think it's worth worrying about if you keep it plugged in most of the time.

We haven't even thought about planting yet, but the perennial green onion shoots are up about 6"-7". So I clipped off a few, chopped them up and put them in a pan of chicken and gravy. Throw in a handful of peas and pour it over a pile of mashed potatoes, and you're all set.

The Fenton stuff came from one on my daily route. I can go to the 2 that open at 9:00 and usually have time to stop at the post office or make a quick grocery buy and still get to the thrift that opens at 10:00 by the opening bell. I can do all that with an 8 mile drive. The other thrifts aren't any better or worse, just farther away.

Nice buys at the thrift store today. I freaked out when I saw this tall Fenton Topaz Hobnail basket. A pretty scarce piece with book prices around $150. Sadly, they don't seem to be getting a $75 bid on ebay. Also got a Fenton dealer sign in green opal glass. $2.49 for the sign and $10.49 for the basket, yet they had $8.49 on one of the most common pieces of Fenton Milk Hobnail.

Got my mortgage refinanced and closed on it yesterday. I must have been the last person in the country paying on a 7 percent mortgage. For years I figured with my meager self employment income, and my DGF going in and out of part time work that we couldn't refinance. But by now my equity is so high and my payment history is so good, that we were able to refi with the same outfit at 4 1/2 percent. Still above the going rate, but it's no closing cost, low documentation, and no appraisal. It's a done deal and our payments went down by $170/mo.

Gail--Ebay or Amazon is the place to buy any type of electonic cable or accessory. When I bought my bluray player a few years ago, I was expecting to hook it up with some of the vast accumulation of cables I already have. No, it could only use an HDMI cable and I didn't have one. I had to run right back to the store and pay over $20 for an HDMI cable. That cable went bad about a year later, and I replaced it with one from ebay for less than $3. I just bought another 12ft HDMI cable so I could connect my laptop to the TV from across the room, and that was $4.49. Got it in 3 days, too. Of course I know sometimes you have to print right now.

JimL--I gave up on cable over 20 years ago, and never went back. Every time you turn around it's another dollar here and another dollar there. I think Netflix is a pretty good value. I get the 3 discs at a time by mail for $15.99/mo and streaming for another $7.99/mo. It doesn't do anything for your broadcast channel reception, but between the dvd's and the streaming I can always find something to watch.

The guy who ran the sale does a lot of high end sales. He's big on pottery, doesn't care about glass. But he has people working for him who really know glass. He's had a lot of "put together" sales, and he rents a big warehouse space for those, so I doubt he switched to renting a house.

One thing I saw in the pics that I thought might be a bit of a sleeper was the Ruba Rombic candleholders, but I didn't see those.

I bought this whole shelf of cranberry glass a couple of days ago in a consignment shop. (Plus bonus Topaz pieces) Not dirt cheap. but probably less than you'd find it at an estate sale. I paid $165 for everything, and I should come out ahead eventually. I remember years ago when my fellow dealers openly mocked me for paying $175 for that Fenton Coin Dot pitcher at an auction. They didn't know I sold it for $275 2 weeks after I put it out. I got this Fenton pircher for $22.50, but it's awfully pale. My question is about the other pitcher, the darker one. Northwood, something else, or impossible to say for sure? It's quite thin compared to the Fenton one. No pontil mark and has that goofy cross thing on the bottom that looks like a crack at first glance.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Kind of a pathetic Thanksgiving around here, as I'm cooking up a turkey for me and my dog. My DGF has been working for FedEx. It's their busy season, and she couldn't get a straight answer til this morning on if they were working. She's working from 1:00 to whenever they get done. She came crawling in at 9:30 last night, after starting at 10 AM, so I have no intention of trying to wait on dinner. Oh, well, t least I have a turkey. And a dog.

Hopefully it should last as long as my last Sony TV, which was over 20 years, and that was a display model when I bought it.

A typical month is $120 rent and $200 sales, putting me right at the break even point. I figure to move out at the end of November, what with the fall sale in early November. Shouldn't be that hard--7 bookcases of stuff and 4 of the bookcases belong to the mall. Sounds like a "blessing in disguise,"

Pretty sure he knows it doesn't ship at 5 lb, because the specs show the unit itself is 5 lb 7 oz, and he has many feedbacks for the exact same item.
Got it up and running. I'm on it right now. I was able to get all my bookmarks through sync on Firefox and Chrome, and I've figured out how to get to all the files on the other computer through a homegroup network. Still have to save them to this one though, since the other one has to be on to see it on homegroup. It's working pretty well so far except I can't get Chrome Page Monitors to work right. Won't go into why I use Chrome Page Monitors.

My old one has 2 problems which could easily be fixed by someone who knew what they were doing. The worst of it is that the case has a big crack that can cause the computer to short out with the slightest movement. You can replace the case, but you have to completely strip it down to the major components. I'm thinking for $269, why fight it? Just ordered it, should have it about the end of the week.
